- SANDRA (10/5): - I liked the staff and cleanliness of place
- ray (10/5): - It was nice and convenient and we look forward to our next stay
- LORRAINE (10/5): - Fast work trip
- Ricardo (10/5): - It's always clean!
- Marlen (10/5): - 💫
- Ashley (4/5): - We had used these guys many times b4 and after a fight with husband I needed a quick close spot to get to with my kids. The staff gave me the hardest time and wanted information that no other hotel has needed like my home address I told him to use my address on the id and her refused. While in the room with my kids that same clerk comes knocking on my door did not announce who he was. Thinking it was my husband I did not open. He kept knocking still not announcing himself until I answered
- Adrian (10/5): - Great place
- Jesus (8/5): - My only complaint is no microwave and no fridge. Other than that, it's a very nice place.
- Greyson (8/5): - Hard to find the pull in and staff does not speak English. The rooms are great the property is beautiful nice spot for affordable rate
- Emmanuel (10/5): - Its Small and Cozy
- Ana (6/5): - Everything was great except we got bit by bed bugs we thought it was mosquito bites but we have more then a couple all over each of our body that we determined it’s bed bugs.
- Bertha (8/5): - I like this place the only problem was trying to get a hold of the property to let them know i was running late they hsve an answer machine that tells you to leave a message and the will get back wiyh you and they never return your call. When i got there the only excuse they gave ne was the owner took the phone and he was on vacation. BAD SERVICE
- Robbie (8/5): - This was my second time staying at the pecan. This is an older motel. but the people are taking great care of the place. It's exceptionally clean for an older motel and well manicured. The outdoors is pretty and well maintained. It's very peaceful and quiet. You cannot get a better deal in Brownsville. If you want to save money or on a budget, I highly recommend this place. It's a nice old motel that is clean, comfortable, and quiet with a nice landscape. and friendly staff. But if you are looking for luxury this is not for you. It's a simple well-maintained motel at an exceptional price. In absolutely loved setting outside in the peace and quiet.
- qianyou (2/5): - uncomfortable
- LUCY (4/5): - No microwave or refrigerator or coffee pot in room.
Bugs in restroom
No coffee in office
- Carlos (2/5): - The staff is very orofessional
- Sheila (6/5): - Okay for the price compared to other hotels in the area. Very basic facilities. I would choose to not stay there again.
- Cesar (10/5): - Everything was nice. I would recommend a desk and outlets for work.
- Sherrill (10/5): - Very quiet staff was very polite and attentive close to shops restaurants
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hidden gem - This is a hidden gem, with a boutique feel. I immediately noticed the care in planning and executing renovations. The gardens are beautiful and inviting. And while you can still tell that everything is a refresh of an older property, everything was clean and fresh. No bad smells and no recycled furnishings. The only recommendations I'd have is replacing lightbulbs in the main room from the swirled florescent lightbulbs to LED. The fluorescent lights give the space a cheap/old office vibe. Internet was very slow, with only one bar. I think it's because I was in room 6, which was at the end of the row. That distance put me far from the router. Finally, warm water took quite a bit of time to run to the shower and was nonexistent for the faucet. Other than that, AC worked well, bed and bedding was new and super comfortable. Thanks.
- Bertha (10/5): - Everything was 👍
- Nina (6/5): - This was my second stay at this property. The first stay was in Dec 2023. We called the hotel directly to book, and found it very strange that the desk clerk would not honor the standard rate advertised on the hotel's own website! She asked for a rate $15-20 higher. Eventually, she advised us to check the prices and book on Expedia, which really seems odd.
The property is very old, although it has been updated, and there are new electrical conduits and grounded plugs in the rooms. Also fresh paint and adequate hot water. The beds are very hard, but the sheets and bed coverings are nice and clean. Double rooms (two double beds) are much larger than the single rooms. No amenities, other than soap. Interesting that they put money into a new half-basketball court. The property could really use some trees.
- Marie (10/5): - Secluded and quiet. It was clean and the bed was comfy.
- Amanda (10/5): - It’s cozy
- Fred (2/5): - I reserved the room through Expedia. The lady clerk didn’t seem to have it. I showed her the Expedia confirmation on my phone. She said the room was a different amount but eventually gave me a room key. The next morning I saw on my phone she had billed my card another charge for the room. They never returned my call and message. I cannot figure out on my Expedia app how to complain and get a refund. I never gave the clerk my credit card. Somehow she charged it with only the confirmation number. I am very unhappy.
- Edward (8/5): - Its an older hotel but well maintained. I felt safe, it was quiet, and it provided good value for the money. The room I selected did not have wifi, but the girl at the front desk gave me a code and it worked well. I would stay here again.
- Edward (8/5): - It is good. Price was good, so good value for the money.
- Roland (10/5): Great little sleep spot - Everything was great nothing fancy makes you feel safe no crowds very quiet highly recommend
- Hector (10/5): - Amazing experience.
- Leonardo (10/5): Perfect for the night - Older structure but very clean and functional, will definitely keep it in mind when visiting Brownsville again.
- Maribel (8/5): - Very comfy place. Didn’t like bathroom situation with steps. Was scared to trip at night going to bathroom at night
- Billy (10/5): - Place was awesome and not expensive. Very clean.
- Carlos (10/5): - This place was perfect, clean and quiet, and staff super friendly. Not luxurious but just what you need for a good night sleep.
- Robbie (8/5): - older property but very well maintained. really nice for the price compared to other motels in the area
- Stevan (10/5): - Great value, very basic and very clean.
- Danielle (6/5): - Beautiful property, our room didn’t have the A/c turned on when we entered so we had to wait several hours for the air to cool the room other than that it was really clean and spacious
- Elsa (8/5): - I loved that the hotel gives a code entrance to the room and that they text when it’s after hours and the lobby is closed. The only thing needed in the property was a hair blow dryer, shampoos available and instead of 2 towels, provide with 4 on the first day.
- Richard (10/5): - Simple,, quiet and very clean
- Alicia (10/5): - Such a great find. Hidden gem. So friendly and clean.
- juan (10/5): - I stayed in 3 hotels and this "motel" on my trip. This was the most comfortable bed of any by far.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A hidden gem! - It was a delightful stay, folks were very friendly and offered local places to go. Rooms are small but very clean and secure. The grounds were well manicured and inviting. The only negative was there was no mini-fridge in the room. We done to the management.
- Phillip L. (10/5): - Excellent choice for an overnight. Clean, quiet, central Valley location.
- Lidia (8/5): - We always enjoy our stay here. The location has easy access to the highway and nearby stores. Also, it is located in an area where you won't get any loud noise. Nice and peaceful stay. Very clean facilities. My preferred place to stay when visiting family and friends.
- Julieta (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay
- Ricardo (6/5): - Nice location easy access to highway and local businesses. Room clean but needs renovation. No Ice Machine available.
- Kirtland (10/5): - Marisol at the counter was great, respectful, courteous and a joy to talk to despite our language barriers. Will return again
- Michael (10/5): - Great for the price
- Daniel (8/5): - Clean room
- Michael (10/5): - Great price clean and comfortable.
- Ricardo (2/5): - I attempted to check in at 12:30 AM, the door was locked and nobody answered two calls to front desk. I had to go to a different hotel, pay again and waste more time. The next day I called the hotel. The front desk indicated since I didn't show by 12AM, they sent me a code and room number. Which i never received. I need a refund for a room i never used!
- Alan (10/5): - Very clean old style motel from times past with friendly helpful staff.
- JOHNNY (2/5): - It was closed when we arived
- Yolanda (10/5): - We love the quiet the simple and the easy access to this place. The staff is friendly and kind. This has become our go to place 😍
- maykol (10/5): - Goiod atention, kind and efficiency
- Jason (10/5): - If you just need a decent room with a decent bathroom to stay in while in town (without all the bells and whistles of a chain hotel), this place is exactly what you are looking for.
- Dick (10/5): - Friendly owner
- Sylvia (10/5): - Very nice property, excellent for hanging out & bbq-ing.
- Jose (10/5): Book it! - Small, cozy, and very quiet. Great stay and definitely recommend.
- Ricardo (8/5): - The property is nice, quiet, secluded from town. It could use a couple more outlets though.
- Fernando (8/5): - I find the place clean and cozy. Attendant is friendly and courteous.
- Daniel (6/5): - Small room. Low water pressure. No ice.
- Steve (10/5): - Well kept grounds, very clean rooms and very quiet. What more could you want from a place to stay. We enjoyed our 2 nights there during our recent trip across southern Texas.
- Michael (10/5): - This place is nice and quiet. The bed was kind of hard and the water pressure was lacking. The staff was friendly and the price was decent. I reallly liked the place, will definitely return when in the area.
- Elvin (10/5): - Thank you great service
- Doris (8/5): - Cute and quiet
- John (10/5): - I’m definitely booking here every time I visit the Brownsville/ South Padre Island area.
- Scott (8/5): - It was quiet! As promised. Nothing fancy but very adequate for the price. Friendly staff!
- Javier (10/5): - It was quiet, clean and comfortable.
- Anne (8/5): - Nice clean inexpensive place. Owners are nice and want your experience to be good. They turned in the tv and AC to my room before I arrived. Nice to come in to a room already cooled down. They realize they are competing for business and really try to make your stay enjoyable. I did not have a coffee maker or refrigerator in my room. They do have a coffee maker in the office. My only issue is the internet was very slow!
- Shannon (8/5): - This is a quaint, older property. The economy room was perfect when I just needed sleep and a shower. The outdoor seating area was enjoyable. The only thing I would suggest is to bring your own pillow. The pillows provided crinkle and feel like they are in plastic. This is a great option for sanitation but not for sleep. The staff were great but the best part was how quiet this propert is.
- Guillermo (6/5): - Descent place- you pay for what you get
- Amir (4/5): - Not worth my time
- Yanina (6/5): - It’s a clean motel. Decent for a short stay.
- Christopher (4/5): - I checked in, paid my money, saw the room and left. Didn't even stay. The place just gave me a bad vibe and I didn't feel safe. Sad to waste money like that at Christmas.
- Juan (2/5): - La propiedad nada que ver con las fotos, es un robo !!!
- Miriam (10/5): - As soon as I walked in I knew I had made the right choice, the place smelled good and was very clean. I will definitely be staying here again !!
- John (8/5): - It was in a very quiet neighborhood.
- Victor (8/5): - It's a small property, if you sneeze you'll miss the entrance; parking was free and very close to my room. While I was checking in I was given recommendations as to where to eat (which was appreciated). I only wish that amenities (ie wifi, coffee machine, mini fridge, and ice maker) were provided. Other than that I would probably stay for a three day stay but no more.
- Amalia (6/5): - If you want a quiet simple room to sleep in, this is for you. Nothing else but a bed, chair, tv, and a bathroom.
- David (8/5): - Turned out it was a much closer commute to my meeting than I realized! But the parking was very limited and difficult to get to!
- paul (10/5): - Helpful / friendly staff, no frills (no fridge or microwave, Keurig in office), safe and clean with beautiful grounds
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Its a cute place, the staff was very nice and accommodating. The only thing they need to do is make sure their rooms are clean. Shower curtain was dirty and looked like it had small blood stains on it, toilet paper had dried blood on it also. I'm pretty sure there was a dried blood spot on the wall by the shower also.
Other than that, they were friendly and accommodating.
- AMEERA (10/5): - Nice little hidden motel with nice small rooms. No wifi for economy room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice and quite with a comfortable atmosphere
- YAN (6/5): - The toilet was blocked
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice and clean, nice place where you really rest.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything’s great!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great basic spot for overnight stay. Rooms are small and shower is tiny but location is peaceful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice place - Lovely spot. Great service. Friendly staff. Love the location. Nice price.
Only issue I chose to pay at the property and instead they charged my card 2 days before.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Bed was extra firm (hard). It was very clean n smelled good n clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Small quiet motel. Away from loud busy business areas but a very short drive to those businesses. Parking is very close to rooms. Employees at front desk were nice. Didn’t speak much English but we made it work. Boxing/workout gym next to room but they close early so wasn’t bothered by it. Other issue was roaches in bathroom. And only trash can was in bathroom. Other then that room was decent. Price for room was competitive. Another thing to consider I haven’t seen on reviews is this is a one hour hotel and walls are thin if you catch my drift.
- Thomas (10/5): I’ll definitely go back there! - I really like the place for the price I had a great time!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I loved the look of property, the room was pretty clean. It didn’t have microwave or mini fridge and no shampoo.
- Annette (10/5): Great fit the price! - Awesome for the price. Bring your toiletries. I'd call it a bargain place to sleep!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay friendly staff
- Verified traveler (2/5): - When we arrived, we had a reservation from Expedia, and all the reviews had a positive nature.
I asked at the desk, as we were to pay at the property, if there was wifi, the desk clerk said yes. I said great, we have 3 rooms booked. She said ok, pay for the first room.
Then on the second room, she said this room has no wifi. I said, that is not ok, we need 3 rooms with wifi, she said, sorry, we have only 2 of the three. Then she upsold me on the second room to a double room with 2 beds, with wifi. She charged me almost double for this room..
On the 3rd room, she said, it's in the back. There is no wifi. You can pay double for a room with wifi.
I said this is not ok. I want my money back. She got the owner on the phone and he said you should have read the fine print, there is no wifi. I said that is not true.
I said, I have not entered a room. You told me on check in there is wifi. He said yes, just not in the room we sold you. If you can get Expedia to return the rate, we will give you your money back.
Then I told him we would not stay there. He said he will keep my money and I could pound sand.
I said I will give a review. I then called Expedia. I was on hold for 2 hours and disconnected. I called 2 more times and was on hold for more than one hour both times.
I also tried to cancel and speak to an agent at Expedia on Chat, on the website.
No answers. I have screenshots of all Expedia correspondence. I expected someone to contact me but no one has.
