- Jane-Ashley (9/5): Probably best place to stay in Manhattan Beach. - Spacious room. Great location. Nice stuff. Free margarita at check-in. Will stay here again. Bed could be softer for my taste. This hotel can be loud given its proximity to the road and nearby restaurants. Still, probably the best place to stay in MB. We prefer it over the Westin. They need to switch out the carpet on the stairs from the front desk up to the second floor.

- michael (10/5): Best property in Manhattan beach. - Everything from easy access, greetings by staff, quality of the bar and restaurant, to the room itself. Everything was amazing. The GM Rodolfo was spectacular and personally checked on my experience at the property. This is the only place I will stay in Manhattan Beach in the future.

- bbump6900 (8/5): Almost perfect - The hotel has an awesome staff and amenities. The location could not be better. Excellent Restaurant as well. Rooms are perfectly fine. The staff is top-notch in every way. My only complaint is that the HVAC system is programmed to a maximum low of 72° starting at 2:30 AM. I like to sleep cooler than that but you don’t get that choice. A fan was provided at least which was very helpful.

- 657lisav (2/5): Stay away from the shade hotel - I have stayed her numerous times and this was the all time worst!!! To start the bottom sheet on the bed kept coming off when we slept. 2nd the room air conditioner would not cool down the room and we were so hot! Then to top it off the blue lights would not turn off anywhere and we had to sleep with them all night since the telephone also didn't work to call the front desk!! Not coming back it was a waste of money!!!

- Voyager68364243257 (6/5): Almost Luxury - This was my third stay at this hotel. If you want to be in Manhattan Beach, the location can't be beat. I love the rooms - beds are super comfortable! But, for the price, there is a lot lacking. The last two times I've stayed my room was on the first floor with a slider opening to the courtyard. Because of this, I couldn't get any daylight in because of the extreme lack of privacy. In addition, the hotel is LOUD. My room was near the restaurant and it was super noisy. In addition, I constantly heard doors slamming all throughout the night. On Sunday morning at 7 am, there was vacuuming going on right outside of my room.
- darlawier (10/5): Wedding Weekend - Very comfortable beds and bedding, delicious food! The bar and refrigerator were fully stocked. The closers were very small and made it hard to hang formal wear. A ring was lost in room #216 and never found or turned in. The staff didn’t seem too helpful.
- 870hopskip (4/5): Look Elsewhere. - We stayed here during a one-night layover in the LA area. We were looking for something higher-end, but close to LAX and the beach. While the service was mediocre, the rooms were bad. They smelled stale and like smoke. When we were offered another room or two, we encountered the same smell. In our $500+/night room, bathroom area fixtures had fallen off and the flooring was visibly stained. Do not recommend.
- A3578ZArichardb (10/5): Wonderful Stay at the Shade Hotel! - Everything was fantastic, from the rooms to the personnel. Very friendly, helpful, and made you feel welcome. My wife and I are looking forward to going back soon. I certainly would recommend the Shade. The food and drink were fantastic too !
- Ruby (8/5): - I love Manhattan Beach so just the location itself is a dream. A haven of calm after a busy week in the rest of LA. The property itself feels a bit like it’s in need of a refresh. One of the chairs in the lounge area sank right through so all you could feel was the wooden frame. The bed linen smelled so clinical that it made me feel quite sick for a few hours. The decor is now quite dated. The shower took a very long time to warm up. There was a bathtub and some other packaged furniture right outside my door in the corridor which made the space feel cluttered and tight. I don’t think it was good value for money at all. However, the staff were faultless and very friendly and accommodating. And being in walking distance of the pier, the shops and the restaurants makes me really happy. Location big thumbs up, property needs some work though.

The bed/pillows extremely comfortable, the staff were outstanding and the location could not be more perfect. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and the beach. We would highly recommend The Shade Hotel, Manhattan Beach.

- SDR90278 (10/5): What a luxurious stay! - My wife and I had a great time staying at Shade in Manhattan Beach for Valentines Day. The room was beautifully designed with customizable lighting, large bathroom and soft bed. We liked the restaurant and bar downstairs and nice scenery around the hotel. It's expensive stay but highly worth it. We look forward to staying at Shade again!

- Julia (8/5): Stylish Manhattan Beach stay - Great location, stylish and comfortable rooms, and friendly staff made this a great stay in Manhattan Beach. The tub is amazing! The only negative was a very loud wedding on my last night. All rooms face the event courtyard, and there was music blasting for hours. It was so loud I was unable to have a conversation or hear the TV in my room. It did quiet down by 10:30pm but it was unpleasant and I had an early flight the next day. It would be nice to have warning that there will be a loud event during the stay.

A pleasant experience from the amenities to your great team from the parking attendant to front desk to restaurant staff. I intended on visiting a new friend and enjoyed our meeting initially in your Zinc restaurant. Classy staff and experiences!!

- 494geoffs (2/5): Disappointing front desk experience - would not recommend this hotel. - I am devastated that we had to cancel our trip to the Shade due to the fires and air quality in LA. I called to cancel the reservation two days before our arrival but inside the 72 hour cancellation window. I was disappointed that the hotel held firm to their cancellation policy and charged the cancellation fee. I understand this is their policy but nevertheless there are circumstances outside our control. I will certainly never consider staying at their hotel again. My advice - pay close attention to their clauses and don’t expect any help from the curt front desk agents.
- 414en (4/5): Beautiful room but would never return - We paid for a suite that didn’t have any of the amenities working. The LED lights, the steam shower, the beer tap all weren’t working. Not worth the expensive price and the hotel didn’t try to accommodate for these issues. Staff at front desk is also very rude and continued to call the room before quiet hours in the hotel began. Beautiful room but would never return here.
- Jamila (7/5): A perfect quick gateway! Needs to be more cozy in the winter. - Location Bed was comfortable Reception in restaurant 1st look not appealing/needs some kind of wall to seperate both spaces. Corridors leading to bedrooms were freezing! Was happy it didn’t rain..
