Guest Reviews
- susan (8/5): - The property is absolutely beautiful, and spotless clean. The horses were great fun to watch outside our deck. Very quiet, but be prepared to go without television. Good time to catch up on some reading
- budlady (8/5): Lovely Ranch - Lovely ranch with good lodges. A lot of the rooms had 2 queen beds but there were a couple with 1 bed and a sofa bed. No coffee makers in the rooms. Dinner was good but breakfast wasn’t so good. Beautifully kept horses. Has a tiny outdoor pool to sit in and cool down not for swimming but would be great in the hot sun.
- RabCT (10/5): Wonderful relaxing stay - The staff is all extremely nice and helpful. Beautiful location. We had a nice relaxing stay in the middle of a busy National Parks vacation. Bailey, the manager is fantastic and works hard to make sure guests are happy. Had a fun horseback rise, which I had never done before.
- travelfansA2 (10/5): A Great Stay! - My husband, daughter, two grandsons and I spent a night at the ranch. We had a wonderful stay! The views were amazing, the food was delicious and my two grandson enjoyed spending time playing tennis and basketball. I left my wedding band in the bathroom and Balleigh mailed it back to me within the week. I was very grateful for her excellent customer service!
- IndiaCairns (10/5): Wonderful hospitality in Wyoming - What a fabulous place to relax and unwind after a long coach trip out of Yellowstone. Only regret being we only had one night here and not two. Such a stunning location with views of rolling fields and horses out our room balcony. Loved the natural wetlands as we drove into the Ranch which offered a wonderful sanctuary for the bird-life. A little slice of heaven and did I mention the food ... absolutely yummy.
- 915arminw (10/5): Beautiful location - Beautiful setting we just didn’t have enough time to take full advantage of the facilities. However I did get some nice photos.
The facility apparently was previously used as a company’s retreat for employees. I bet it provided a beautiful and productive site for thinking about what comes next!
- travelbh (10/5): Worth a stay - An oasis with friendly welcoming hosts, a nice dinner and breakfast. A crystal clear pool all on spotlessly groomed grounds. The rooms were immaculate and comfortable. The history of the ranch gives even more reason to go.
If it fits into your travels check it out.
- NinaPEast (8/5): Awesome choice for a multigenerational family stay - This was a multigenerational stay at Ucross which is important to note because there was something for everyone. The owners (? I think) were the best, so friendly, informative and accommodating. The rooms are huge, and while we had two people per room, they would have been big enough for four. The room itself was clean, but the garbage from the previous occupants was still in both trash cans, which was kind of gross but fine.
There were cats/dogs for the kids to play with, other animals to see, fishing for whoever wanted to fish, swimming for whoever wanted to swim (water was very warm), and hot tubs to enjoy. The food at dinner and breakfast was a solid good, and the bar was enjoyed by the adults in the party.
After dinner, we were set up with a much appreciated camp fire and smores, which made the evening really special for all.
The main downside was that we only had one night there, each of us commented we wished we could stay longer. We would definitely go back.
- gfe413 (2/5): Horrible Experience! - Staying at the Ranch at Ucross was the worst night of our vacation! The ranch was rundown and the amenities were clearly not as stated! Horseback riding was merely an adult pony ride and the grounds were neglected. Upon checking in we were told to be down at the buffet breakfast early or there may not be sufficient food left and they "don't refill." Things got worse when we were rudely treated by a bus tour guide at the dinner buffet who was then supported by the manager of the ranch (who of course, relies on these large groups). Luckily we only had a one night stay at this unfriendly ranch!
- crcarlin (2/5): Don’t Stay Here! - This is Not a dude ranch. It is a tired group of bungalows in need of renovation located in a large field. What dude ranch has almost no activities and only a few horses?
My group was also treated very poorly by the owners while they provided preferential treatment to their repeat large tour bus group. The buffet dinner was in line with the hotel-lousy!
This is not a dude ranch experience in the West. Needs a lot of renovation, activities and much more courteous owners!
- shirleyszcz (10/5): Accommodations, Drinks, Dinner, Branding -- What an Outstanding Experience - We had this stop on a group tour. We were delighted with the real ranch setting. Our rooms overlooked a horse filled corral. Our bartender served the most delicious Wyoming Mule drink, our buffet was delicious and the branding experience was quite informative. The scenery surrounding the area was breathtaking and our hosts couldn't be more accommodating. Don't hesitate to stop here -- you won't be disappointed!
- Pascal (4/5): - The site is beautiful but the level of service is very low.
We learnt only a few days before checking in that we could not stay 3 nights but only 2 although we had made a reservation through Expedia several weeks before...
We were also very disappointed that horse riding was almost not possible, and that the swimming pool was available only a few hours a day.
The same dinner was served two days in a row.
There is not even a laundry service on site.
All of this is very disappointing regarding the high price we paid (600 dollars/ night).
It seems that Ranch at Ucrosss is focused on groups more than individuals (every night a bus was coming to fill in the ranch and all activities are planned according to this bus).
Furthermore, the staff was most of the time not helpful at all. We said several times that we were not satisfied and there was absolutely no reaction from the ranch managers.
We were also surprised that our bank account was debited for the price of 2 nights even before we arrived in the ranch.
- Skynyrdnation (10/5): An All American Ranch - Great scenery, very hospitable. This was Day 4 or our tour and it was a relaxing spot.
The bar was excellent and Charlie knew how to pour them. The room in the main building was like living in your grandmother's house and it was musty until you turned the a/c and fan on for awhile. I would have preferred to stay in the new lodging by the pool. Horseback riding and fly fishing were offered. Had a great dinner and breakfast buffet style.
- TaraB0997 (10/5): Great Scenery, Excellent Food and Horseback Riding, too - We stayed at The Ranch at Ucross during a bus tour. The accommodations were very good. The meals and service were excellent. We got a chance to go for a short horseback ride, too. Nice location with excellent scenery.
- karia460 (10/5): Our favorite! - We arrived at the ranch with a tour group. We were able to go horse back riding before dinner. I can say without a doubt that the food on the ranch was the best food we ate during our entire trip out west. By far! We only stayed one night but it was great. We had breakfast before we left which again was fantastic! The staff was friendly and helpful. I'm pretty sure the ranch was voted the best stop by all of us at the end of our tour.
- Rachpy (10/5): Brilliant - Arrived to a very relaxing and peaceful place. The owners were fantastic and very accommodating. Food is tasty varied and brilliant. We enjoyed a fantastic horse trail with the wrangler who was very attentive and patient (especially great if you have not had a horse ride before) the views are just breath taking. A lovely porch area to sit and relax. A swimming pool and TV room with air conditioning. We enjoyed our room it was clean and well presented. WiFi available. The owner was so kind on ensuring we had our packed lunch to take away with us when we left for our next destination. There is a tennis and basketball court as well as volleyball. This is a friendly homely and accommodating place which obviously cares about its guests. Would go back.
- JamesP1701 (10/5): Amazing place with wonderful hosts - My wife and I stayed here for one night in August as part of our Western Cowboy holiday. It is in a beautiful, rural setting of Wyoming and felt like we had stepped into a John Wayne film.
The accommodation was beautiful, the food excellent and the ride was the best we have done (and we've done a lot of riding on holidays.)
Special thanks must go to Eric and Vickie: they are wonderful hosts, accommodating, friendly, incredibly helpful and humble. They made the stay a real joy and we are grateful to them for providing such a memorable part of our holiday. We shall be back!
- Lisalog777 (10/5): Beautiful tranquil setting - We stayed here as part of our Insights tour - what an amazing, tranquil spot in the middle of nowhere. After dinner we were treated to Smores at the campfire and entertained by a local trio of singers. Despite the cold it was fun and we had blankets to keep us warm. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good and plentiful. We went horse riding in the morning and given that neither of us had ever ridden before we were well looked after by the very patient girls leading the horses and by the placid horses themselves.
- Blackdog3_Adel (10/5): Fantastic and great hospitality - Wonderful comfortable beds, large twin sink bathroom and tastefully decorated. Very quiet and fantastic rural views. Heated outdoor swimming pool and horse riding and poundage fishing available in the price. Great hospitality, good food and great service.
- keving0428 (10/5): Amazing place!! - Our company has a 3 day 'retreat' here every year. It is one of the highlights of my year! Beautiful area, quiet setting, with quite a bit of wildlife. The rooms are very adequate, the food is amazing! You will feel like you have known the staff your whole life! Such nice accomodating people!! Extremely well taken care of...lots to do if you like the outdoors! Highly recommend!!
- Quokka7 (10/5): Loved it! - I stayed at the ranch as part of an Insight Tour group. We were only there one night, but I wish that we could have stayed for much longer. When you get to the ranch, you’re warmly greeted by the staff and the very friendly and energetic resident four German Short Hair Pointer dogs. One of the dogs Ellie had given birth to six beautiful puppies four weeks earlier, so I was in doggy, puppy and horse heaven! The staff were wonderful. Even though they must have been tired at the end of a very busy tourist season, they were warm, welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The staff really made you feel like part of the family. I was lucky enough to stay in the main ranch house. The room was very cosy and comfortable. The bed was one of the best I slept in during the entire 23 days of my tour. Had I known how comfortable the bed was going to be, I might have slept in like the rest of my tour did instead of getting up before dawn to go horse riding. I asked the staff when was the best time to go horse riding as it was included as part of the tour. I was told that the ranch looked best first thing in the morning. I got up early and went to the corral where I was lucky enough to ride 18yr old Rocket. I then had the very great privilege of seeing dawn breaking over the hills of Wyoming and the ranch whilst sitting in a Western saddle on top of a gentle horse ambling around a paddock, with four very energetic German Short Haired Pointer dogs racing around the paddock having the time of their lives. What a great way to start the day! That was when I fell head over heels in love with Wyoming! I was the only tour member who got up early to go riding. The others all went later in the morning. We were treated to a hearty and plentiful country breakfast. The food at the ranch was the best that I ate during the entire four and a half weeks that I was in the USA. My time at the ranch was capped off when I was allowed to cuddle one of Ellie’s beautiful puppies. Everyone on the tour said that the Ranch at Ucross was one of their favourite places that we stayed at during the entire tour. I would have loved to have spent a week at the ranch. It was so warm, welcoming and relaxing. I absolutely loved it! It was one of the highlights of my trip to the USA.
- William (10/5): Beautiful. - Laid back ranch, beautifu, food was great.
- Scott (10/5): Destressing done here. - Open green country, no stress, no cell phone, great food, plush bed, friendly people, and Smores around the campfire. A truly relaxing getaway.
- Karen (8/5): A Dream Ranch - Everything was very well done! We had a room in the lodge and were able to sit out on our deck overlooking the ranch in the evening. There was also a deck on the back of the lodge that overlooked a stream as well. The lodge would be a great place for a family reunion or large get-together as there was a huge room with a fireplace for everyone to enjoy. There is a nice pool for swimming near the main house. After we dined in the restaurant on the property there was a campfire in the evening with s'mores served as well as local entertainment. We were able to view the rooms in the main house and they were tastefully decorated with feminine décor. There was also an opportunity to go horseback riding. We rode near the stream and crossed over it to the scenic hill in the back. Russell, our trail guide was very pleasant and made us feel like pros on a horse even though we had limited exposure to horseback riding. Overall, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
- Ronald (8/5): As much "bed and breakfast" as hotel. - We stayed in the ranch house and had a bedroom bath and sitting room. It was very clean and comfortable, the staff was extraordinarily friendly, the breakfast was top-notch, and the ranch-like environment was ripe for exploration. We wish we'd had more time to enjoy the pool and take advantage of the horseback riding. Definitely worth the price - cozy, comfortable and felt like home.
- Stacy (8/5): Beautiful setting - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at U-Cross Ranch. The ranch itself is beautiful with a lovely mountain backdrop. The staff are friendly and laid back. The property has horse stables, a pond, grounds for walking, a pool, pool house with satellite TV, chairs, books and computer. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast, which was included was great, and the dinner was substantial and delicious. There is also a bar in the main house if you are looking for a drink.
- July, 2015 (10/5): Guest ranch in West - Terrific experience. Reasonably priced and well worth it. Laid back atmosphere. Just about the nicest staff we've ever encountered from top to bottom. Food was great. 11 and 10 year old grandkids: "Awesome "
- Christian (10/5): What a place! - Quiet, great food, clean, very friendly staff, lots of fun activities. Will come back for sure!!
- Esben (10/5): Go there - a marvelous place. - Fantastic surroundings, very nice people - all in all a great place. Period.
