Guest Reviews
- Hyacinth (10/5): - We had the most wonderful time. The place was very cozy and clean and peaceful. They were very responsive with my queries since we were coming all the way from South Georgia. We will definitely come back!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Country Hideaway general review - Property is out dated pretty badly. The beds were not very comfortable & the bathroom sliding door would not lock. There were some hairs in our bed sheets when we pulled them back as well. Overall our stay was enjoyed as the view from the deck over looking the lake was very beautiful. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to use.
- Tiffany (8/5): Cabins Good. Amenities Disappointing. - The good part of the trip was the cabin. It was clean, well put together, comfortable and as described. The amenities was disappointing. The waterslide was run down, not in operation clearly for awhile regardless of what was said. The hot tub was not in operation, again for awhile and the mini golf was run down to agree you had to skip a few rounds. In general, the amenities and related areas were not as described. As said The cabins was fine.
- Clara (10/5): Thank you for a perfect weekend! - We had an absolutely perfect time at our cabin! Kim is wonderful and easy to communicate with, and the grounds welcomed our kids and our basketball team with open arms! This is our second time staying here, and we will ALWAYS come back!
- Yolanda (10/5): - Everything was nice from the host I spoke with over the phone, the guard and the view was amazing
- Lindsey (10/5): - Excellent staff and bueatiful property. Will definetly bring the family back for another get away.
- KELLY (10/5): - Shower dripped. No one explained the room keys. Which to find out had a key for laundry room. Everything else was great. Checkout was super easy.
- David (10/5): A beautiful and peaceful place! - Loved it! The folks there were so incredibly friendly and accommodating and helpful! A peaceful, beautiful setting! Would come back in a heartbeat! Property is getting to the point where needs to be a few maintenance repairs, but nothing significant enough to keep me from going back!
- Jessica (6/5): - This resort is older and description was not what i thought i was getting. If you want fluffy towels and nice bedding bring your own. The basics are provided and my linens were clean, just old, rough and thin. The bed was too soft and beyond its lifespan for comfort.
It is really convenient and close to Helen and surrounding areas, keeping you out of the heavy traffic. We enjoyed the quiet cool morning and the staff was pleasant and welcoming. I would stay again for the price was reasonable just not what i expected. I did not use any of the resort amenities so i don’t have any input on that.
It would be a great experience for a family on a budget. Looks like lots of outdoor activities to keep you occupied.
- Steven (8/5): - This is a nice property, but the amenities are severely lacking for how much of a fee they collect from you ($8 per person, per night), which remains even if most of the "amenities" are closed. The employees at the club house are not very friendly either, although I don't think they're affiliated with Country Hideaway.
Some notes I took during our stay:
1) The room itself was cozy and the beds were comfy. The kitchen was well-stocked with appliances.
2) Contrary to what Expedia has listed under the amenities, there is NOT "24 hour pool access". We politely asked about this at the Mountain Lakes club house shortly after we arrived, and one of the women said to us in a condescending tone, "none of our amenities have ever been 24 hours, you can't believe everything you read online!"
3) The hot tub was "out of order" throughout our entire stay. We asked how long it would be unusable, and that same woman's response was: "A while."
4) One of the outdoor pools has a waterslide, but that pool is only open Memorial-Labor day. The other pool is at the club house, but the only entrance/exit is through the building, and they have a rule against being wet inside the building. Seemed like a catch-22, so we didn't even bother after our previous interactions with the staff.
5) The wet steam room was very unappealing. It looked like a dirty bathroom. It had all white tiles, so you could see every stain.
6) The dry steam room was made of traditional wood and looked okay.
- Josh (10/5): - The staff was absolutely wonderful, the view was spectacular. Although we didn't get a chance to explore the amenities as we were just staying for a wedding, we couldn't have hoped for a more pleasant experience. Highly recommend!!
Thank you so much!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property was clean, but really needs to be updated. The beds aren’t very comfortable. They should only charge you for the amenity passes if you use them. We never had time to use them because of other plans and paid for them because it was required to have them. Other than that it was fine.
- ellen (10/5): - This property is perfect for kids
- Frederick (2/5): - This place is very quiet and is very pretty. However do not plan on getting a good night's sleep. The beds are HORRIBLE! I slept on the couch and luckily my wife is small enough that she could push the 2 chairs in the livingroom together and make a bed out them. If they could provide decent beds this place would be amazing. Unless that happens i would never recommend this quiet beautiful place to anyone.
- Ana Maria (10/5): - Love the view of the lake on our backyard
- William (10/5): - Very welcoming and accommodating staff prior to visit and on-site. Hillside multi-unit cabin was very comfortable and view of mountain from balcony relaxing. I'd book it again.
- Debra (10/5): - Beautiful views
- Ruby (6/5): - Bathroom safety bar in tub was broken and barely hanging in wall. Cob webs and spiders were inside living room windows. Decks around units had areas where the wood was spongy when you walked on them. Area was quiet and views were beautiful.
- Jose (10/5): - It was the most horrible place I ever stay in.
Pay for atraccións that wasn’t in order to use
- MELINA (10/5): - Check-in was pretty simple. We got in after 4 and our keys, parking passess, and resort information was waiting for us at front gate. There is loads to do on site including swimming, mini -golf, paddle boats and canoes, horseback riding, etc. The resort called me about 5 days before check-in to confirm and get our information because you need resort passes to do the amenities on site. Lots to do in the area as well including hiking, wineries, and nature stuff. Close to Helen, Yonah, Clevelend, Dahlonega.
Our condo was neat and clean and just right for our family. Gorgeous view of mountains and lake from the porch! Really enjoyed the stay.
- Stacey (10/5): - Really nice property. All staff that we interacted with were polite and very helpful
- Rosamelys (6/5): Staff need to be more aware of the reservations. - It is like a community with some "villas". The person at the gate did not know anything about the reservation, he was asking questions about what we paid for...
Things good: nice and relaxing view of the lake, the have wood for the chimney free, but you need to have something to turn it on.
- Jason (6/5): - They need to train there cleaning crew. Everything was very outdated. TVs where way to small and one bedroom didn’t even have one. All the equiptment in kitchen was old and in need of updating. Back door had a bad leak in 2 degree weather made for a cold night sleep for the guest staying in the living room. The thermostat was finicky, paint was peeling off the front door, found old oil in a pan in the oven and mold on the cutting board. Dishes where put away dirty and had to be washed prior to use. Beds where worn out and foam was added to cover this up. Bathroom fan was louder then a jet engine taking off. We didn’t get a chance to use any of the on site amenities because it was the weekend of Christmas and most where closed so we can’t leave a review on them. Also had to call to see if we could safely use the fire place due to a unit across the way that was burnt down. Was told it happened years ago and there shouldn’t be an issue. Makes me think non of the income being earned is being invested back into the right places. It was a nice area and hope they chose to better the units would like to return to the area but will chose a different place to stay unless there are updates and corrections.
- Laura (10/5): - The condo was veey nice...clean
- Tamarah (6/5): - Loved the property grounds. And check in was easy. Did not like the fact that you have to pay $8 a day per person for nothing. Was looking forward to sitting in jacuzzi at club house and it has been broken for months. They don’t tell you that. Then our adult children went to play put put golf. But everything was closed.
- Jose (10/5): fun time's - it was only 2 nights because i was going to a wine tasting, but i loved the property and all amenities
- J (6/5): - It was okay not the best experience i have ever had. The beds were not comfortable at all and the furniture was old. The scenery was beautiful though.
- Neill (10/5): Beautiful, relaxing vacation - This place was amazing. It's perfect for a relaxing vacation. The lake view from our back porch was spectacular. The Georgia mountains are something to definitely visit if you haven already. I hope to visit again!
- Karl (8/5): - Location and activities were great. Building could be updated
- CHAD (10/5): - Amenities are great
- Robert (4/5): - peaceful view
old furniture, old kitchen appliances, old mattresses, old towels.
uncomfortable dining chairs, very hard as well as hard mattresses. Will definitely not recommend that villa!
- Liz (10/5): - We absolutely loved this place. It’s an older resort so don’t expect to have a brand new room. The staff was amazing. My kiddos loved the indoor pool. We had a two bedroom, two bath cabin room. It was super quiet and the views of the pond were awesome. Our room had a great deck with a porch swing. It was super clean too. I highly recommend this place and will be back again.
- Edward (4/5): - The add is deceptive. It states it sleeps 6 however this includes a fold-out couch bed which has seen better days. It has flimsy spring and a flimsy stained mattress full of crumbs and toe nail clippings. It did not have proper sheets for the fold-out mattress and we had to use blanket to cover the dirty mattress.
The rugs throughout were were old, dingy and stained. There were old used soap bars stuck to the downstairs bathroom sink and shower...was the condo even cleaned from the last occupants? Were were required to strip the linen from the beds and place in the kitchen floor, but the blankets went back into the closets. Are they ever washed?
Overpriced for what you get. Will never rent there again.
- Nancy (10/5): - Very clean property, super friendly staff, beautiful location! Loved it!
- Lyle (10/5): - very pretty.Cabin needed some upkeep all the doors had handle issues. The remotes for the tv didn't work.Few minor problems.
- Patrice H (8/5): - Beautiful lake and view but property is extremely dated. Needs renovation all through and had a musty smell within. Could be a wonderful spot but we won't return unless renovation of carpet, beds, baths, paint etc. Looks like it hasn't been touched in 20 years.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Affordable! Clean! Secluded- yet close by to Helen, GA
- Gary (10/5): - Very quiet and peaceful place and it was a great place to visit several wineries. Had a great weekend.
- Jazmin (10/5): 5 stars - Everyone was so nice, from the security guard Mike at the front to Anna in the game room. We loved our stay it was the best place to get away from it all and relax.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Peaceful place with numerous area attractions. Amenities at resort are nice as well.
- Rajesh (8/5): Place to relax with your Family - Nice and Pleasant stay, more than what I expected. My 9 months daughter enjoyed a lot. Our Family felt like in home.Good WIFI speed so my office work as well not interrupted.
Must recommended place for weekend
Only Thing we hated was floor was not clean my 9month old daughter dress has been completely soiled on crawling
- Larry (8/5): Escape to Helen - Trip was great. Community was great. Everyone at community working was very nice and helpful. Unit just needs to be updated.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It rained and i guess lightning struct their internet we were there three days had internet a half of one day...so that sucked....there was obviously a family with children above us that got up and literally stomping and ran around about 6am every morning...there was supposed to be 6 of us....2 backed out they said they gave me the 24 dollar charge back for amenities i havent seen it yet!... but it was clean and they did have amenties but everything was overcrowded...the manager was super friendly but wasnt there during the hours stated on the office and they were hard to access over the phone!
- Kimberlee (10/5): - This place is beautiful!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The property itself was beautiful. The cabin was looking out on a beautiful lake. The furniture needs to be updated. The beds and the chair in the living area were very uncomfortable. Only one vehicle was allowed for each condo.
- Greg (10/5): Enjoyed our stay here - I’ve stayed as close to Helen as possible all of the times going there. The hotels available in town are not very nice, even the expensive ones. I didn’t know what to expect here but needed to try another way because we love the area. This place delivered. Everything was clean and well kept. The staff was helpful (all of them). The property is stunning and peaceful. We will certainly return here. It’s only a 10 minute ride into town from here and so much nicer.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place - Such a nice litte place to stay, friendly people and lots to do with the kids.
- Jane (8/5): Simple getaway - Our stay was brief, only two nights. We did not utilize any of the amenities offered, though most activities were unavailable due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The condos are showing their age, though they were very clean. The separations between units (walls & floor/ceilings) are not insulated, making them noisy. Poor cellular service and no Wi-Fi in the units is something of a drawback. Otherwise, the scenery is great; the location convenient to mountain activities.
- Stephanie (4/5): - The setting was beautiful and the amenities were nice but the hours of operation were not very long. The condo was very dated and all the beds were extremely uncomfortable. The tv upstairs and the DVD player downstairs were both not working when we realized it the office was closed. We left a note on the key return envelope.
- Miranda (10/5): - The condo was cozy. The property was beautiful! It is so close to Helen (10 minutes) that we could go and shop then come back so the baby could have her naps.
- Autumn (8/5): Awesome staff! - Awesome staff! Amazing amenities! Cabin was a little outdated but very comfortable. Loved the fireplace!
- Eddie (8/5): Good room but property is old and needs upgrading. -
The room was great but the overall appearance of the building was not good. The building needs much work and improvement outside. The room was more than sufficient and was clean and we liked the layout.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I loved the property, because there was no reason to leave at any time. We stayed there our entire weekend and had a blast! There was ALWAYS plenty to see and plenty to do! What fun we had and so family friendly! All the staff were so friendly and accommodating! We will definitely be back! This is our new mountain vacation spot!
