Guest Reviews
- Duy Hung (10/5): - Clean room
- Beverly (8/5): - The room was spacious, but some of the furniture (couch) needs a refresh. Our bathtub was not as clean (on the sides) as it should have been. The staff was very friendly. We also found the bed to very comfortable.
- Terence (6/5): - The bath tub could use a better clean and they were food items under bed.
The room was very hot and no way to adjust the thermostat
- Brian (10/5): - Great place
- Clyde (8/5): Beautiful building, location and friendly staff. - The hotel itself and the grounds around. It were beautiful and you had a look out deck to see the Mount Denali. The first room they put me in had weather stripping falling off the door frame. Staff member Vanessa went above and beyond to get me set up with a new room and even helped me relocate my belongings to the other room. I ended up paying for amenities which is I think a $19 value, with the wifi being part of it didn't even work anywhere away from the front desk, as I found other people staying , they had the same issue. If you come and need wifi bring your own hotspot.
- Todd (10/5): - Great property, tons of amenities, comfortable rooms and beds. Nice outdoor spaces and ample parking.
- SUZANNE (10/5): Great place, amazing views - One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in for a while. Clean and comfortable rooms, good restaurant, big lobby with huge fireplace and rocking chairs, beautiful walking trails on the property, very convenient shuttle to/from train station and town. Extremely friendly staff. Most of all we enjoyed the incredible views of Denali and the Alaskan range from the back deck right off the lobby. HIGHLY recommend!
- Erich (8/5): - Limited dining options; no breakfast dining offered during visit. Dinner prices are expensive. Lodge is a considerable distance from the Denali Park.
- ELLEN (10/5): Helpful staff, cozy lobby and beautiful surroundings. Love the wake up calls for nature viewing. - Location and access to Denali and Northern Lights views. Room was large, clean and comfortable. This place is absolutely worth it for the views!!
- Antuna (10/5): Beautiful - the views were awesome, it was good atmosphere the restroom was a little outdated
- Suwandi (10/5): -
- Stephany (10/5): We got to see auroras from the viewing deck while staying there! Talkeetna is an impressive town and the Alaskan Lodge m - Fantastic location and overall experience and comfort!
- Jonathan (4/5): - This is an old hotel. If you are above 5'6" the shower head will be really low. It came up to my chest. No AC, but they give you a fan that blows air out at about 2 mph. Room was not ready when we got there after 4. Had to wait about 30 minutes for them to finish. All stairs, no elevators, so you will have fun getting your luggage around. TV is small, like 24", and the picture was fuzzy.
I will say the one window that opens did so like butter. Very smooth opening and closing. So, not all bad. Since the TV was so fuzzy, I just opened and closed the window for about 45 minutes to entertain myself.
The pictures of this place make it look fantastic. It isn't.
- Irene (9/5): -
- Thomas (10/5): - Very clean and well maintained rooms.
Staff at the reception are very friendly and professional.
Enjoyed our short stay.
- Marsha (10/5): - Loved restaurants on site, close parking, and an elevator to use rather than carrying luggage up and down staircases. Loved the rockers in the lobby in front of large windows with a view! Loved the gift shop and all the pleasant people working here. Great job!!!
- Cindy (10/5): -
- Wayne (4/5): Motel treatment for resort price - Staff not as friendly, but room is clean. However, keep getting footsteps noise above us. We pretty much thought we were at a motel, rather than a resort.
- Janet (9/5): -
- Liana (10/5): A luxury stay in the Alaskan wilderness - The restaurant on site is excellent. We had dinner and breakfast in the grill and it was fine dining. Our rooms were spacious and the bed was very comfortable and great sheets. The whole lodge was tidy and well-taken care of. The location is superb. Denali was clouded in but we had low expectations. The town of Talkeetna was a fun place to find local art and have great food. We had been roughing it prior to our stay at the lodge and it felt good to have a luxury experience for one night!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Talkeetna’s Best Stay - The check in was so very welcoming that I felt like I had just come home. Excellent!
- Uma (10/5): - Great staff; polite, helpful, standard room was clean and spacious for a family of 4. We stopped on our way to Denali. Great dining options!
- Terika (10/5): - A beautiful property with wonderful views of the Denali mountain range, walking trails and free shuttle to downtown.
- Deborah (10/5): - This is a beautiful place to stay, with a great viewing are of Denali if she shows, the staff has been very nice and check in was a breeze.
- Christina (10/5): - Signs of deferred maintenance on the exterior decks, chairs, and walkways.
- Stuart (10/5): - Beautiful lodge. Great views and outstanding staff and service. Multiple options for meals.
- Isabel (8/5): - Vistas impresionantes . Servicio de shuttle al centro cada 30 mn
- NareshKumar (1/5): -
- michael (10/5): - This facility was one of the finest that we stayed at during our two week vacation ! Beautiful grounds, outstanding views and a great room ..
- David (10/5): L’endroit est magnifique, allez-y. - L’endroit est tellement beau,
Le reste se passe de commantaires Le petit déjeuner…
- Guest (10/5): -
- Arvind (8/5): -
- zhaosheng (10/5): Nice lodge - Nice lodge, everything is great I have nothing to complain
- anne (8/5): - Staff very helpful and polite, outside premises beautiful. Rooms somewhat dated, not thoroughly cleaned. Premises felt very safe. Be aware no pool or hot tub (which is clearly evident if you look at amenities but may be assumed being a lodge/resort)
- Mariyn (6/5): - Room is dated and small. Noisy with buses
- Kavya (10/5): - Spacious rooms, clean and nice facilities
- Steve (8/5): - The property was very nice and super clean. The outside deck was great, nice place to relax while taking in Denali. Could have more comfy chairs around, one deck only had benches and another had no chairs. Rooms were large and bed was comfy, could due with an update especially showers. Would stay again!
- Mark (10/5): - Our stay at the lodge was amazing. The property is beautiful. Would like to give a shoutout to Melissa and Vanessa behind the desk. They went above and beyond to help us during our stay. Also Darren and Spencer in the bar weee amazing. One more shout out to Tristan for our fun shuttle rides.
- Carolyn (3/5): Poor - Views!!!
Shuttle to town Since there was. O housekeeping, you definitely need larger waste baskets
- Corkery (7/5): Good - The staff was very pleasant. We enjoyed the nature walk with the naturalist. The restaurant was not good. My salad was barely dressed and there was some slimy lettuce in my salad. The shower needed to be scrubbed with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, as there was soap scum in the tub.
- Tashi (6/5): You need to improve breakfast -
- Suzanne (10/5): - You can borrow bicycles and ride them into town. The property is amazing and so is the staff.
- Kelly (9/5): Overall, great! - Location, size beautiful decor! Ran out of halibut and 3 entree selections.
- Kelsey (10/5): - Great place!!!
- Shannon (8/5): - Great experience
- Naftali (9/5): Superb -
- Kristina (10/5): During my stay, I collapsed and the paramedics had to be called. One of your front desk staff stayed with me before the - The kindness of your staff. I was ill and they were very helpful More sundries in your shop would be good. I needed some items for my illness and it was very limited
- Chandrika (4/5): - Unfortunately, our experience at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge was overshadowed by extremely poor front desk service. Requests were routinely dismissed with a clear lack of concern for the guest experience.
What was most disappointing was the attitude of the manager. He showed no interest whatsoever in resolving any issues. Instead of offering solutions or showing any flexibility, he remained rigid, unapproachable, and more focused on defending policies than on actually supporting guests. There was no sense of genuine hospitality—something you would expect, especially at a lodge known for its beautiful location.
I had made reservations for three consecutive days under three separate bookings, as our plans kept changing. I specifically requested that we be allowed to stay in the same room for all three nights. Instead, we were forced to check out every day at 11 AM and then check back in again after 4 PM, causing needless inconvenience. The manager was completely unconcerned about the disruption and showed a dismissive, almost rude attitude toward our situation.
We had hoped for a warm Alaskan welcome but left feeling frustrated and unheard. I would not recommend staying here unless significant improvements are made in how they treat their guests.
- Angie (10/5): Exceptional -
- JAMIE (10/5): - We were lucky with a great view of Denali on a clear afternoon. We had a standard 2 queen room and it was spacious and comfortable. There is no AC, but the window opened and there was a ceiling fan and a standing fan that made it confortable. We didn't eat at the restaurants, but they looked nice
We did have breakfast atvthe coffee shop. Muffins and the breakfast sandwich were very good, as well as the coffee. Staff was friendly.
- Balamurugan (9/5): Great - Excellent hotel with nice view of the mountains. Restaurant and gift shops were great. Though out our entire stay there was an internet outage in the lodge, cellular internet was also very spotty inside the hotel.
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charles (8/5): Very good -
- Min (8/5): Very good -
- George (10/5): Talkeetna Lodge - Very beautiful lodge with comfy beds. Worth the extra money to have a mountain view. Unfortunately for us, the Denali remained hidden from us.
- Kathy (6/5): - We stayed here on 5/21. The room was clean and the views were beautiful. The staff was friendly. My issue is with overcharge of the room. I booked and prepaid through Expedia. When checking in, my card was billed for the room. When I brought this to their attention, instead of refunding, they charged my card again. I have now paid 3 times for 1 night stay. Every time I call, I’m told they are working on it. Almost 2 weeks later with no corrections made. Watch your room charges closely.
- Charles (10/5): - Ok
- Worstall (9/5): Superb -
- Brian (2/5): - Terrible customer service at the front desk and restaurant. The restaurant was out of multiple items on the menu. The food was nothing great, but expensive. The gym is almost non-existent. No hot tub. No pool. Did I mention, terrible customer service! Truly, nasty attitudes.
- Peter (1/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - Do not stay here, but good location No running water and unhelpful and unapologetic staff.
- Renee (10/5): - Could see Denali from our room. Amazing
- Raman (8/5): Very good -
- Penelope (7/5): Beautiful building in a nice setting. Basic rooms & services.Quite pricey for the services offered. - Staff were friendly and provided information when requested. Room was clean on arrival. Good parking area. Location is good, but unfortunately, for us, the weather was not good, so even though we paid extra to have the mountain view rooms, we were not lucky enough to see the mountains. However, we did see a moose strolling along outside our bedroom window. We liked the hikes in the area and the ease of getting in to the main town to explore. We stayed two nights and were not informed in advance that there was no housekeeping service, unless we specifically asked for it. So garbage was not removed and new towels were not provided, unless we asked. But when we did ask, they responded quickly. The price is very high for the services/amenities provided.
- Lynn (6/5): Overall nice - Views and high ceiling gs with fireplace Alarms went off at 10:15pm and staff did. It respond or k ow what to do till about 30 minutes later. Toilet got clogged
- Koushik (10/5): - They don’t have microwave in the hotel room. I thought it would be provided.
Also, would be great to have a swimming pool, sona, hot tubs to relax in these kinds of places.
- Hannah (9/5): Amazing views of Denali, centrally located with awesome features and amenities. Would recommend! - Loved the view of Denali and the general setup of the lobby and surrounding area. It was very centrally located for us to participate in our first Oosik ski race, with the shuttle coming right to the parking lot. It was also a really great touch that they offer to let you know if the northern lights are expected to be out. We loved our stay!
- Tracy (8/5): Very good -
- 한 (10/5): Exceptional - Best Hotel ever!
- Sophia (10/5): - The staff here goes out of its way to ensure an incredible experience. S’mores at 4pm and wake up calls to watch the Northern Lights. Can’t ask for anything more;)
- Catherine (10/5): Excellent hotel, we loved every minute and were really sad to be leaving - Everything
Friendly staff though out hotel
Beautiful location
Free shuttle into town running very frequent.
The reception area was outstanding.
Shop selling local goods at a decent price Nothing !
- Durkee (10/5): Exceptional - The view
- Jessica (10/5): - Lovely place. Overpriced food/breakfast.
- Mary (10/5): Great Stay - The employees at the hotel were all very personable and helpful, especially Ashley. The lobby was very comfortable with a huge stone fireplace, furniture and large windows for viewing the scenery outside. Our room was comfortable, and had a perfect view of Mt McKinley. The only thing missing was a microwave in the room. It was very quiet. The hotel also had snowshoes and tubes for guests to use free of charge. We went snowshoeing one day on the trails around the property. The hotel is just a few minutes from the town and train station and has a free shuttle to both. The shuttle driver was very accommodating and always on time.
There is a bistro open for dinner and a small coffee stand in the lobby with breakfast items for sale. There is another restaurant, but it wasn’t open for the season yet. A small gift shop had limited hours. The staff did call us during the night to let us know the northern lights were visible. We would stay here again.
- James (10/5): Exceptional - The Lodge is great! My only "complaint" is that the room was too warm, so we just opened a window and everything was fine. So good, in fact, that I booked another stay here later in the month!
- David (10/5): - Beautiful place
- Ramanujan (9/5): Superb -
- Alesha (10/5): - BEST TRIP EVER
- Eryn (10/5): - Overall great!
- maylasia (10/5): - Beautiful property with amazing views. Dining is a lil high for the quality of food. Still worth every moment and every bite. Was scouting for a wedding venue and it is still on the list albeit not at the top.
- Rae (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Buonopane (9/5): The views are beautiful - No breakfast provided. Just kiosk in lobby to purchase items. Bought an americano coffee—little pricey.
- Dean (10/5): Beautiful lodge in every way - The beauty Nothing
- Clyde (6/5): - Great overall.
- Brian (7/5): Disappointed - Property was beautiful. Views of Denali range were fantastic. Our room was directly beside the stairwell and elevator. There was noise much of the night from both. I told this to the manager who offered another room but we didn’t want to repack and move for one night. However I wonder why we were given a seemingly “last” room when others were available? Also, I made this reservation 3 months ago. Seems like we would have secured a better room also. For $400, the lodge could have done much better. We won’t stay here again.
- Smruti (8/5): - Beautiful property and well managed space, efficient staff.Mostly cruise travelers but worked well for independent travelers like us.Helpful staff, willing to give us a room before official check in time at 4.
Lovely patio views of Denali and beautiful dining/bar options.
- Stuart (6/5): - No ventilation in bathroom. Roof fan dead? Staff seems melancholy, like management isnt nice to them. Architecture is uninspired
Priced far too high for the quality of experience
- XIAN (10/5): - Nice restaurant and services.
- Cathy (4/5): - We paid over $500 for a room that had a broken thermostat though I have no idea what it was used for as there were no a/c or heat units. No vents in the room, very very stuffy air. They did have 2 portable dusty old fans to use. In the bathroom they provided a bar of soap about the size of a quarter. This room wasn’t rustic just old and tired.
- geetanjali (10/5): - Beautiful location. My room had Mountain View, excellent! At reception the attender had, I know what I am doing attitude. The server at the restaurant were helpful and friendly.
- Hardik (10/5): - Excellent property
- Linda (9/5): The perfect weather made it a perfect stay. - Coffee had a odd taste, l told them so. Breakfast English muffin also odd texture, but eatable. No salsa would gave been better. Biscuits with sausage, eggs, an cheddar cheese.
- Yee-Ming (10/5): - The Lodge is beautiful! We were only in Talkeetna for a day, so we didn’t get to really take advantage of the whole area, but we’d definitely stay here again. The Foraker Restaurant was a delight.
- Jason (5/5): Passable - Beautiful facility with great view of Denali. Rude, unprofessional staff. Clogged tub drain
- Michael (10/5): - Simply a great place with the most spectacular view of the AK mountain range and Mt. McKinley!!
- Fred (6/5): We felt like it was a ripoff and should have been priced way less than it was. - Location good. With the price that we paid, I expected a more upscale type of facility but it was just ok. It was a major letdown. The lobby area was nice but the furniture was pretty worn. The room was decor dated also and the in-room coffee setup didn’t have creamer, only sugar and an artificial sweetener.
- Pamil (4/5): - Staff was not helpful at all.
- Dave (10/5): - Great accommodations and can’t beat the location.
- Gustavo (7/5): Good - Location , views Small individual beds
