Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): World class lodge on the Yakima River. - I have stayed several times at the Canyo River Lodge on the Yakima River. Every time I am reminded of how beautiful the Yakima River canyon is and how easy a drive it is from Seattle. The lodge itself is a world class facility right on the river. The suites are lovely, the staff is excellent, and the restaurant has wonderful food. In addition there is one of the finest fly shops at the lodge that I have ever been in. They have guides for fishing, sporting clays, and hunting if you need help enjoying the available sporting activities. I highly recommend the Canyon River Lodge for a short romantic getaway or a hardcore outdoor adventure.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good for beginner fly fisher-people. - Staff was helpful and nice. The location is noisy due to the highway and trains. Beautiful in a rugged kind of way.
- jim (10/5): Yearly vacation - Yearly 6 rooms float river eat restaurant good eats comfy beds pool hot tub fun fun nice setting that's all folks. Jim and 24 others.
- Tracy Ann (10/5): Superb serenity - home away from home - Excellent lodgings. River raging behind us n wonderful view of fire pit, pool, spa n river.
Condo suites make this a home away from home.
Only thing that would've made things perfect is if the AC hadn't been broken. And check out took some time waiting for front desk to get off phone.
Wish someone had told us the Billiard room would be closed w the office hours. Went to play some after an excellent dinner next door. 😢 Also looked for Hose to spray feet off after venturing down to river as I didn't want to drag sand into room.
Rooms n beds are amazing.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Weird place - No one there to check us in. Lodge closed. No restaurant. Coffee shop next door closed in the morning. Nice place, comfortable and clean but weird! Had to drive 20 minutes to Ellensburg to eat. Definitely for those who are bringing their own food and supplies. Oh, and there are trains that pass by every hour or so all day and night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Loved our stay! - The lodge was gorgeous, quiet with beautiful views. The pool wax perfect shallow and warm but refreshing. Our room was terrific, comfy bed and pillows. Great kitchen and outstanding views of the river and hills.
- KJF (10/5): Stunning views - Stunning location in the Yakima River Canyon. Minutes to to Yakima or Ellensburg, yet feeling a world away.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice place to stay in the beautiful Yakima Canyon - We had a lovely room with full kitchen, 1&1/2 bath and two bedrooms. It was clean, sunny and quiet, except for the train's moving through the valley throughout the day and night. I sleep with earplugs so didn't both me but partner was woken up a lot.
There is no restaurant services during the week at this time of year. However, Ellensburg with lots of good eats is relatively close by.
The only other limitation I saw was the main rooms (reception, living room, game room, etc. was closed after 5 pm.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice lodge by the river. Dog friendly. - The lodge was nice. It is sparcely furnished. Four people and three chairs. Tiny coffee maker. Restaurant not yet open. Nearest good food 14 miles away.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Enjoyed staying here beautiful place and spacious. - High quality kitchen. Clean and comfortable. Location is gorgeous
- Liz (10/5): Treat this place like your own cabin! - This place is really more of a vacation rental. My husband and I are thinking out coming back with his 11year old son next time. There was a separate room with 2 twin beds. Would have been great for a family adventure. The fly shop and restaurant next door was awesome, although we wish that we would have brought more essentials. They don't even sell a bottle of water or snacks in the fly shop. The restaurant/coffee bar was closed on Monday so lucky we had left-overs from the night before that we ate before our guided fly fishing day.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice rooms with enough kitchen stuff to cook meals for 4. Great pool and meeting rooms too.
- Reunion Friend (10/5): Relaxing, beautiful and oh so peaceful. - I needed to find a place for three of my friends and I to get together after (hard to admit) 21 years. We wanted to sit by a pool and catch up on everything. I was concerned that the resturant wasn't open and town was 20 minutes away but the kitchen was well stocked and we brought everything we needed to cook our meals.
It is a hunting and fishing lodge and lots of men were launching their fly fishing boats. The fly fishing shop, Red's, was vey busy. We didn't feel out of place. It is a small lodge with 10 suits and a beautiful common area, pool, hot tub and beautiful view.
We spent the morning by the pool and afternoon floating down the river. It is fast flowing but calm and felt wonderful in the 90+ weather. Would highly recommend it.
The staff treated us like we were guests in their home, taking us to our room, showing us around and bring us bags of ice for our margarita 's.
I can't wait to return for more relaxation. I wouldn't change a thing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice lodge close to Yakima River. - Enjoyable & relaxing. Walk out the door to the river. Pool was nice in a nice setting.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Ask questions! - When I checked in it was all cool. The pool looked clean, the view was amazing! Room is nice but you are paying for location. The office closes at 5. The main lodge closes as well which I didn't understand. You have to let them know you want maid service. We ran out of towels & toilet paper. My friends rented the tents and they ran out of toilet paper as well. I shared my concerns with management and they did listen.
- patoosh (8/5): Perfect choice - Our purpose in going to Canyon River Lodge was to fish the Yakima River. Excellent two day stay at the hotel which is connected to Reds Fly Shop. Fishing was fabulous.only disappointment was that the Grill and Bar was not open.
- blueyegirl (10/5): River fishing - Wonderful stay, quiet, view of river, comfortable bed and spacious room.
- Tom (8/5): Great location for fishing the Yakima - The room was very nice and spacious (and clean). Fireplace was a plus. the only negative was that the interior facilities were closed to guests after 5:00. so, the nice pool table was unavailable in the evenings.
- jennifer (4/5): Unexpected - The hote/condol was nice..the staff was excellent. The price was to high for unkept grounds and no cutrains on the glass door in living room. The downfall to the stay was the band/concert in.the lodge conected to our room late at night,it was so loud we couldn't sleep.
- Jessi (10/5): Modern Mountain Lodge Retreat - This is our sixth time staying here within the last 4-months. We absolutely love it here. Spacious, clean rooms with amazing views and privacy. Great customer service.
- Lyndsey (10/5): Beautiful Get away!! - We stayed at the Canyon River Ranch while celebrating a family birthday. It was so beautiful and relaxing. Our daughter who is three, loved swimming in the heated pool and spa. We will be back again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): In the country - The hotel was nice, great pool, the only problem was the lack of food or restaurant facilities and with no even a mini bar it was a surprise, especially considering the overall level of the facility.
- Arrowhead (10/5): Great place to stay - Beautiful place to stay
- Shellie (10/5): A QUIET getaway - This small (10 room) and beautiful lodge was exactly what we needed to relax. The room was beautiful and the staff very friendly and accomidating.
The restaurant was closed for weather but we were able to order a couple meals 24 hours in advance which were delicious. All we had to do was warm it up in the oven for about 30 min. The steak and chicken were awesome.
The grounds and view from our room was beautiful. We could see the pool, river, train tracks and cool trains. We were surprised at how quiet and soothing the trains sounded.
Can't wait to go back. We loved it.
- Ildia (8/5): Pretty view of river and mountains - Canyon setting on the river, very pretty. Unit was fully set-up. Very relaxing. Enjoyed setting in the hot tub with a view of the mountain watching the eagles fly by.
- John (10/5): Washington' best kept secret. - Never heard of this place, but WOW. It was really terrific!
- Kerry (10/5): River view stay - Went for a college visit but wanted to stay away from town. Beautiful location on the river. 2 room condo was perfect for our family. Very clean. Communication by email for a late check in was excellent. We did not visit the restaurant but will during our next stay.
- Sarah (10/5): Cozy & beautiful view! - Anniversary weekend was great! Fantastic to go back. Love how close it is to home but still feels like we are far away!
- Mark (10/5): Beautiful and private. - Great place to stay. Peaceful, comfortable suite accommidations. A great location for a family reunion if you love the outdoors.
- RS (8/5): Lovely facility on the river - Stayed overnight to met family for a quick visit. Lodge is located directly on the Yakima River. Lovely rooms and a very good nights rest.
Unfortunately hotel 4:00pm check in does not allow for any daylight as nigh fall is at 5:00. Was planning to have a glass of wine at lodge before dinner but main lodge closes at 5:00 which was a shame considering we didn't know this until we arrived. Rooms were very well appointed and comfortable. Wish we could stay longer.
- nancy (8/5): Beautiful location but limited services - Limited access to hotel facilities
Would have been nice to meet and interact with other guests.
Main building closes at 5 pm and restaurant has limited days of service
Food and service at restaurant were excellent
- anne (10/5): Relaxing stay - My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. We loved the view and the staff was so nice and helpful. We plan to return and enjoy the relaxation and beauty.
- Christopher (10/5): Amazingď - Awesome place! Rustic beauty of nature combined with the architecture with all the modern conveniences! Lots to do around resort if you like fishing or shooting, relaxing, or swimming
- Keith (10/5): Just what we were looking for - Clean quiet with plenty of room - my wife really loved the place - first time we really relaxed while visiting Washington state, fishing was pretty good had a good time on the river - the scenery was very different from other rivers I have been on in the state was a nice change
- Verified traveler (10/5): - EXCELLENT FACILITY / STAFF WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL!!
- Luke (8/5): Rooms awesome, but restaurant was closed. - The rooms were awesome, rustic, big and nicely appointed. Beds were really comfortable for all of us. The only complaint about the rooms was the amount of flies and fruit flies indoors. They were extremely hard to control and really aggressive. The Hotel should try to do something about the bugs for the indoor spaces. The pool and jaccuzzi deck were clean in good repair and we swam everyday. We loved renting a raft through Red's fly shop and floating on the Yakima River. The hotel restaurant was closed for some kitchen repairs and this was disappointing as we found out after we had already booked our room and the closure was not listed on the Expedia website and no discount was offered by the hotel for the inconvenience. Overall a good stay, the staff was very nice and helpful, and we will stay again but would make sure the restaurant was open BEFORE booking.
- Traci (10/5): Amazing, secluded paradise - Loved the resort, the Yakama River, the canyon, the entire setting. It is 20 minutes of out Ellensburg though, so be prepared with everything you need. Small shop and restaurant close early. Restaurant not open on Mon & Tues. Renting rafts are a little pricey, but the trek down the river is breathtaking.
- J (8/5): Such a great surprise this place is beautiful! - Such a great stay in a beautiful place. It's like a mini Suncaidia. Would have liked the front desk to explain everything and a short little walk through, but we figured it out. We will be back!
- Susan (10/5): Superior family vacation stop - We have a 7 yo active boy and an 11 yo child with multiple physical and cognitive special needs. We had a GREAT time here... So good we re-routed our travel plans to and from San Juan Islands to come back on the way home. Accommodations were very kid friendly and fun for all. Gorgeous pool. 4'6" at deep end = safe pool time. Twin and queen beds in separate rooms means everyone sleeps well. Really wonderful staff. Immaculate. And I mean immaculate. This is our new "secret getaway". Thank you for an amazing vacation experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Anniversary - We loved our one night stay, very enjoyable suite. Only down side is the staff is only there from 8am-5pm or something close to that. Great place and reasonable price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stayed here while spending the weekend at our daughter's college graduation. Beautiful site. Out of the city and close to nature. Would definitely appeal to fisherman as the location is right on the Yakima river.
- Julie (10/5): Nice room! Right on the river! - The staff was very helpful! The rooms were spacious and very clean! Beautiful views, right on the river and next door to Reds Fly Shop where we took a guided drift on the Yakima and caught a ton of trout! Great experience! We will come back!
- J (10/5): Perfect! - My husband and I stayed here and loved everything about the resort. They are more like condos and are so spacious and very well kept. Extremely clean, beds were amazing. No complaints. We will definitely be back!
- Busterfud (8/5): Lovely Stay by the Yakima River - Old friends spending a weekend on a lovely fishing river. Quiet, nice rooms, good food.
- Fish Hag (8/5): Fly Fishing Retreat - Nice room that was priced for the off season, but I am not sure I would pay the weekend or high season price. This is a small lodged that is located in the middle of the Yakima River Canyon that is well situated if you are on a fly fishing adventure, but not much else to do here. The restaurant and pool were closed for the season but the room was comfortable and large. The kitchen was modestly stocked with accessories, the rooms were clean, and included a washer/dryer. A easy to operated gas fireplace was nice and free Wi-Fi was included. There was a BBQ available, but we had to find a lighter as the starter was broken, then burn off a lot of grease before we put our steaks on. The staff was 9-5, but got us oriented to the lock box system for arrival after 5.
