Guest Reviews
- lynncQ9003LF (2/5): Gross - The Windsor is a disgustingly filthy hotel. Reasons: not able to bathe because of brown running water, flies, stains on the curtains, scratches on the fridge, a dresser drawer that almost fell on my foot, cracked sink. Lacking amenities: no coffee maker, iron, blow dryer phone. Ice is not available in this hotel. Worst place I have ever stayed in. DON'T GO TO THE WINDSOR HOTEL!
- C4574FEjennifert (2/5): Worst worst worst - Don't just don't the old man that runs the place is rude so are the children they will charge you top dollar for this room then refuse to refund days charge extra days and just be over all disrespectful. They even made me call a cab before they refunded a small amount of my money
Grossly overcharged. I stayed 2 days and knew at that point this place is an insult . Garbage dumpster full and over flowing , room wasn't cleaned, no heat first night fridge was so loud it kept me up beds are hard and they want 100 a night and! absolutely no clue how to run a front desk.
- Alana (10/5): - I've stayed here every time I come to Stratford and the staff are so lovely!
- Linda (6/5): Okay - Good location. Probably wouldn’t book another stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property was well kept. Rooms were in good clean condition and beds were comfortable. Check in was quick and easy.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We stayed two nights. The rooms are small but accommodating.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Enjoyed the price on this room. Had the very basics i needed for my trip. Could have had a more reasonable check out time to make them stand out above the rest in their area.
- Michael (8/5): Great two night stay. - There is nothing I can add to the other reviews already here. I do have to say, I was in room 3, and the bed and pillows were just fantastic. They were better than my own at home. I slept fantastically both nights. Very close to the Festival Market shopping and all the regular fast food outlets. So no problem eating. Just wondered why I had a fridge in the room, that's all. I highly recommend it for an overnight stay, unless you desire more upscale accommodations. It was a bargain price and worth it.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very cheap motel. If you are looking for really cheap accommodation this is it. The room is very tiny. The windows didn’t latch or lock. You get what you pay for.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The outdoor sitting areas are nice. The room was clean. The host very friendly.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Relatively close to Festival. Bathroom was inadequate. Little room
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff was pretty nice and the outside sitting area was amazing, but aside from that there were no real surprises. Room was small with just a window ac, bathroom was even smaller, and the bed was so horrible I think sleeping on the ground would have been more comfortable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Close to theatres and restaurants. Comfortable beds and pillows.
- Alicia (10/5): Clean, comfy, and Convenient! - The Noretta was clean, comfy, and convenient, I slept well, every night, and was so local to everything in Stratford that I did a good deal of walking. I will definitely stay at the Noretta again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Small motel with small basic room. Neat and clean and perfect for one night.
- cheryl (6/5): It's a motel. No surprises. - This is a motel. No surprises. Basic. Small bathroom Not high end. It is a motel!
It is only a 10 min walk to 🎭festival theatre. Also there are eating places within walking distance, incl a DQ🍦
- Robert (8/5): Good value. - Room wa a good size, was clean, good fridge, lots of hot water, quiet, outside gazebo and grass area had lots of chairs was a bonus. Room had small a/c but not used nice air flow with windows open. Shower was just ok
- Billy (4/5): - The bathroom have a funny smell and hairs on the wall, can be improved, the room price was similar to the 3 or 4 star hotels near the Toronto Airport.
- Tara (8/5): - This was exactly as advertised. We got a clean room at a very reasonable price. It was not a big room, but we were only there to sleep. They happily accommodated our early check-in so that we could freshen up before our 2pm show. I would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very small room but a cut above for cleanliness. Comfortable bed and good shower. Good experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Price new remodelled rooms quiet park like setting convient location small quaint
- Leonid (6/5): - Property is in good location, but it's old. There is no a/c, coffee makers in the room. No coffee even in the office. Bathroom is really small. There is no mirror above the sink. It makes it difficult to shave. Room was clean. Bed was too soft for me.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Friendly staff, were able to connect. The property was also clean
- batyaLondon (2/5): Very, very disappointed - Checked in Sunday may 12. Fridge not working, toilet not flushing, sink in bathroom wobbly, NO DRESSER, 2 beds, 1sofa, 1 desk. TV okay. Bathtub icky, closet very tiny. Today no cleaning. Never again!!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - a few things would have helped out.
-microwave
-coffee maker
overall not a bad stay but i would have difficulty paying anymore than $90
- Lyuben (4/5): In the wild. - Good location. Terrible bathroom. Not enough in room comfort like no chairs, no wardrobes or closets, no place to put your suitcases. The heat is either too much or pretty cold at night time. Had to call the office to crank up the heat cause it was cold, couldn't sleep.
- Brenny2014 (6/5): Average - We stayed in this motel when the weather turned nasty on Saturday night of the 30th of March. The room was reasonably clean. But we found it very warm with no options of turning off the heat.
Our biggest problem was that the fire alarm battery started beeping probably because low battery. This happened at 2 am in the morning and the front desk was closed until 9 am . My wife was awake all night and we got little sleep. I think some compensation would have been in order but the person at the desk in the morning was able to do little but apologize.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Could not figure out how to turn down the heat as was WAY to hot so had to open windows to cool room down. Had a booking issue where either they or hotels overbooked a room, so had to downgrade but they did solve and contact and were flexible to help at least. Bathroom is very small but it worked
- AK0009 (2/5): DO NOT STAY! AVOID!!! - Customer service was very poor. Very rude person. Couldn’t get into the room, had to ask them to shovel the door. Once in the room, the door would not shut. So we had to move room.
This motel was terrible!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I like it because it was convenient for my needs for working.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - No coffee pot or microwave all else was very clean
- Raymond (6/5): - I found the bathroom to be a little small and cold. The room was heated by a heating system that was behind a pair of long drapes. The bed was very comfortable and the area outside was quiet and pleasing. A good place to stay if your only sleeping. A lot of good places to eat within walking distance.
- Canuckteach (8/5): Great little spot... One small hitch... - . ... We found out there WAS wifi when we got back (late at night) to our room #15). Being web-active, we would love to have connected. We found the password on a tiny card the next day! Other than that, this would be a 100% positive review.
Price was right: 79$ for a sweet room with a frig & color tv with cable that includes the Sports Channels (we caught the conclusion of the Nov 16 late game: Leafs & Ducks). Parking right at the door, & the room was comfy warm with a suitably chilled frig.
Stratford is a very progressive little town, by the way, with Cinemas and the Festival (as in 'Shakespeare') in town and, by far, the largest employer in the area.
If you need to visit this area, stay here & drive out to your destination.
Just search for the tiny card with the WIFI password when you check in! (Uuuuuuurrrrggghh).. It's not on the larger card with the general motel info (should be).
- Cami (6/5): Just an Ok stay - Clean rooms but super small room and very tiny bathroom
Heat is controlled by motel and our room was so hot had to open windows in the middle of the night
Business nearby with something that makes an annoying humming noise early in the morning
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Just there for one night. Beds are comfortable. Room was clean and tidy.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was not clean, very dusty and bathroom floor was sticky... the bed caved in the middle and no thermostat in rooms ...disappointed.
- Edith (8/5): - Nice hotel. Designer's touch. Pretty rooms. Very comfy. Very clean. Bathroom small fits one person at a time only. The heat got too much and no way to turn it down so we opened a window.
- Carey (8/5): - Did not get to make use of property.
Arrived later and left next morning.
Area looked Very nice though.
- Mandii (8/5): - Great for a 1 night stay! The room was very clean and staff were great. Room was a little smaller then expected and the bed wasnt very comfortable.
- Margaret (8/5): - Quaint but clean. Had just what we needed for an overnight stay at a reasonable cost.
- 357serenaj (10/5): 10/10 Would love to come back! - One of the best motels I've stayed in. The staff were amazing and very helpful and the rooms were really nice and clean. The location is great as the motel is walking distance from the theater. Would come back again!:)
- Alx (6/5): - its a motel, the room is tight and the bathroom was 8x3 with a 3x3 shower a hand basin and a toilet all squeezed into that space. not enough room in there to turn around. we were going to the theatre and it was somewhere to sleep, but its nothing special and only just adequate
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Though an older property, The Noretta was clean and comfortable following a busy day of shopping and Theater in Stratfird. I would stay there again without hesitation, especially because we were allowed an early check-in.
- Joan&Paul (8/5): - As all of the comments noted that I reviewed prior to booking stated : the bathroom is cozy! But it was certainly satisfactory for our needs! I had also noted that there were no in room hairdryer so I packed my own instead of asking for one.
The decor was updated, the Queen bed comfy.
The staff were very friendly and helpful with an excellent recommendation for pizza!
- Lori (8/5): Good Place to Stay - The hotel seems to have had some upgrades. It was very quiet and has a lovely yard with a gazebo and outdoor sitting area. The doors were hard to open and close, possibly swollen due to the extreme humidity? The beds were comfortable, although our room was quite cramped with 2 queen beds in it. One King bed would have fit better. We would stay again.
- LEM160 (8/5): Convenient, Clean, Comfortable - I was apprehensive about this motel after I read some of the reviews but as we were seeing two shows at the Festival on the long weekend, we didn’t want to drive home and our choices were limited. However, we were pleasantly surprised. We received a warm welcome from the gentleman on duty in the office. Our room had a comfortable king size bed. The air conditioner quickly cooled down the temperature in the room. Yes it is small. The bathroom was very tiny but very clean, obviously recently renovated and perfect for our needs. We will definitely return the next time we are in town for the Festival.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - it was a cute motel, very nice, would stay here again
- Bernie (4/5): - You get what you pay for. We knew in advance this wouldn't be a 5 star hotel, but it was close enough to the Festival Theatre to walk which is what we wanted. Room was small and shower was even smaller, but for one night stay it was fine.
- Lori (6/5): - It served its purpose....a place to rest me head at the end of the day, and it was clean.
- 410wendyl (6/5): Convenient location but needs new beds - The motel is well located for Stratford activities. Staff was friendly and there’s a nice garden you can relax in or even picnic. Rooms were clean and simple but it’s time for new beds!! Beds are the most important item for an overnight stay!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I like the Noretta because it doesn't cost too much
- Chris (6/5): - This motel was good for the cost. Suggestions: add an exhaust fan to the washroom for the shower steam. The room was a bit small to fit two queens, so little room to move around. the beds were very comfortable though. Good if your only staying one night.
- scott (8/5): - It was good the rooms where clean a little dated and small but with the price was good. Better then what was expect . They staff friendly
- ellenklhui (8/5): Nice and Clean Motel close to the Theatres - Stayed there for one night to attend shows in Stratford. The Motel was very close to the Theatre (Festival) that we attended our shows, about 5 minutes drive. The room was basic but very clean, the bathroom was a bit small but good enough for its purpose. The Motel was a bit away from the main centre/downtown, yet still close enough even if you don't mind walking - about 30 - 45 minute, because of this, it was quiet for a good rest, and the price was reasonable. There were a few good restaurants close by. I will stay here again if we visit Stratford in future.
- Carol (6/5): - Basic facilities - good location to attend theater
- Edmund (8/5): Music Man - It was good, right on the main drag, just a couple miles from downtown Stratford.
- Verified traveler (6/5): nice accommodation close to a wedding we went to - Good location. Easy check in and easy check out.
All in all we were quite satisfied.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Location - Good location within 15 min. walk to Festival Theatre. Clean basic vintage motel property. Good value for 1 or 2 nights sleeping.
- christinecW7581TF (10/5): Great time - Stayed 2 nights, was attending a show one night. The room was clean and modern. Staff was excellent and friendly. Asked about restaurants and great advise was given. A wonderful family run motel. Spent evenings after dinner in the huge side yard, tables chairs etc. Met some wonderful people. 5 minute drive into city center. Everything needed is close by. Rooms are smallish but everything needed was there. Small fridge etc. Excellent value for money
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A 1960's motel. Worn but well kept and clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean room, no tub or microwave - Clean room, quiet....no tub or microwave..............................
- Thetravelingbeard (10/5): Upgraded and perfect price - So there is only one issue with this place which is the washroom size in some of the rooms. I have stayed here multiple times and seen a variety of their rooms. I love the motel for its huge property with plenty of greenery. Massive trees cut the property off from the city feel with a courtyard to sit back and relax. The rooms are clean, each room has flat screens, the beds feel brand new very comfortable. The reviews you see on here are mostly from the past before the place was redone. One thing like I said is still an issue is the washroom size but that is due to the layout of the building and I am sure they are working on a plan for that as well.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Convenient location - Located in Stratford so it is a convenient if you need a place to stay while you're in the city.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Noretta Motel - Reasonably Priced - Inexpensive, served the purpose. A comfortable stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The water temp was very random, and is very dated, but was a good stay for what I needed and very close to where I needed to go
- Verified traveler (4/5): Nope. - It was super dirty and needs to be cleaned! The towels look like they were used to clean a car, there were toe nail clippings on the floor, and cobwebs every where.
- Jarred (6/5): Nice place - Good hotel for one night stays
- FrankoReviewa (10/5): You get MORE than you paid. - At first I saw a lot of low reviews, saying that the washroom was really small, that the front desk did not have a good attitude. On my opinion I got much more than the price I paid. The manager of the hotel had an amazing attitude, the room indeed it’s small, but really people..... are waiting luxury and big spaces for a small price. I found it in a great location, and for me it worth more than I paid.
- Mark & Allan (2/5): Unreasonable manager - I was selecting dates in late August timed to my annual visit to The Stratford Festival. When my confirmation arrived it said I had been booked for a stay in December..not the dates I requested at all.
I immediately contacted Expedia and they tried to change the date. The Noretta manger flatly refused even after they explained that it was glitch in their system that had jumped the date. They were also trying to book a reservation for the dates I had originally requested and the manager again refused to reserve those days for me. When I called on the day o my arrival she said she had nothing available and that I would be billed for the December stay, even after I advised I would not be staying then. Fortunately Expedia refunded the charge which doe some reason madame manager put through on my credit card on the date we had originally wanted to stay. I understand a no refund policy but it seems very odd that a mistake cause by a computer glitch could not have been rectified in a more pleasant manner. I suggested to the Expedia rep that they should no longer do business with this motel, since customer service is not a priority. All they want is your money!
- Angie (6/5): Nice room, for 1 night - It was a nice room. A little tight in space to move around, but the beds were big & comfy. It was difficult to adjust the heat so we needed to crack the window open to balance the temperature in the room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet hotel - I stayed here for two nights. It was a small room, however I liked the decor. It didn't have a coffee maker or hair dryer which would have been a good addition to the room There was a small fridge. It was quiet around the hotel so I had a great sleep.
The room was clean and it had a small desk and chair to sit at. I also liked the fact that you could park right outside your door and bring your suitcases, computer, food in easily.
- Monica (6/5): Exactly what you pay for! - Motel is 100% what I expected and exactly what you pay for; I'm would stay here again.
Rooms are small, bathrooms are small, place is outdated but if you're expecting to pay $90/night during festival season and get a 5-star hotel experience then don't stay here. They have priced their rooms accordingly. It's within walking distance of the theatres and is exactly what we needed.
I also was an idiot and put my credit card information down wrong and instead just giving my room to someone else on a busy weekend, they held my room and followed up with me twice. They were super understanding about it and I appreciate that, very friendly customer service.
- Michael (10/5): - This was a nice little place. I have a lower rating on comfort since I'm a large man and the room was smaller. Nothing to do with any condition of a the establishment itself. Just being honest. Very clean, staff was friendly and the courtyard was nice to drink coffee in in the morning. Was easy to find and close to other amenities. For reference on size, I'm 6'3" and 290lbs.
- MO (6/5): Good spot for a short stay. - This motel is small. It's not ritzy but it is clean, well kept and the bed was comfortable. Good TV and a fridge in the room. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Check in was very quick and we were able to get in early. The rooms are small, but certainly fitting for a quick stay. The motel is very close to restaurants and shopping malls.
- paul (8/5): Good night's sleep - For the money the Noretta is a good motel. The room was clean, and quiet. We will stay here again.
- Dan (8/5): Decent Motel - All I did was sleep there, so for my needs it was more than adequate
- margaret (8/5): - This is an ideal motel for people with a limited budget who don't need all the amenities, and appreciate a unique, cozy accommodation.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Internet is bad - Internet is bad no WiFi signal
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very close to shopping - Hotel didn't have my reservation recorded, butafter that it was very pleasant to stay there.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice place to stay if you are only sleeping there, - VERY SMALL BATHROOM, only had fridge, no microwave. Staff was very friendly
- T.J. (4/5): Very basic - No wifi. No service. Didn't see any staff unless you go to the front desk. Was fine for a basic bed for the night
- Verified traveler (4/5): - For the price I paid to stay at this motel, the condition of the room was certainly not worth it. The sheets were dirty and my bathroom was not cleaned very thoroughly at all. Found stains in the sink and on the toilet. Would not recommend.
- colleenva (8/5): Comfortable, clean accomodations - We enjoyed our visit to Stratford and the Noretta motel was in a very good location to the Avon theatre. The bed was comfy and it was quiet for sleeping. The washroom is very small but served the purpose very well. The price was very good! Would recommend.
- gladysb884 (8/5): Will return ne'XT year - Qmore than we expected for their low price. Staff pleasant an Co operative. QUIET LOCATION restaurants just across them street. Will definitely stay there again.in the heart of stratford. Newly decorated lovely little garden /picnic area.i*
- Wallace (8/5): - Everything was fine except the pillows, which were very lumpy and skimpy. Other than that, everything was ok and we will probably stay there again when our favorite B & B can't take us.
- moonchildiva (8/5): Vintage - Nice little spot, perfect location, all the essentials - cable tv, clean bathroom, comfy clean beds - good price. We liked the manager and the owners. We were ROOMLESS unexpectedly, and they were VERY helpful when we really needed it. I like that it had a vintage FEEL to it. Not bad at all !!! If you must have chain hotels with all the modernity, this place isn't for you. If you just need the room to rest/sleep in, it's a good relaxing place.
- RuthW669 (6/5): Quiet and clean - Our one-night stay at the Noretta Motel in Stratford, ON, was pleasant and easy. We booked online, and check-in was a simple process. We stayed in #12. A big window had a less-than appealing view of the parking lot and not much privacy, but curtains took care of that issue. Simple, no-frills decor. Energy-efficient but effective window unit air conditioner, refrigerator, flat-screen tv and two queens, small but completely adequate bathroom with in-tub shower, soaps, shampoo/conditioner and worn towel sets for two. The beds were overly firm, but provided a good night's rest. I recommend you bring your own pillow as the provided pillows are a bit past their prime. The wifi service was spotty, but did the job.
I would have rated 4, but for the bedding and towels.
- PRPottawa (2/5): Beware. Do not give your credit card number over the phone - This motel took our credit card number over the phone without clarifying their cancellation policy. When we had to cancel they insisted on charging our credit card with their cancellation fees. DO NOT STAY IN THIS MOTEL. THEY ARE DISHONEST.
- Paul (2/5): Shouldn't be an option. - Shouldn't be an option . Worst hotel yet. Hotels.Com should be ashamed....and they wouldon't give my money back!
- wilfred (6/5): Good Location - Small room but uesable
- michaelsB4356JU (2/5): Dirty, used to house social services clients - This hotel is dirty, used to house just released homeless cons. Cheaply furnished rooms. Owners have terrible policies, much better places to stay. Friday night party central, domestics on site, just wait you will hear it.
- grmi2015 (2/5): Dumpy, tired motel - We booked a room with 2 queen beds. There was no room for anything else. Less than a foot between the two beds and little space to get around them. The carpet was very dirty, the towels were dingy "white". It took us ten minutes to find a plug to charge two phones-- beds blocking outlets and TV / phone / window AC unit all plugged in to power strip with no plugs free. This place did not smell or look clean. Would never come back to this motel. Yuck!!!!
- Joann (4/5): - Had to pay to upgrade room due to no room between sink and toilet. I don't think we should have had to pay, it was unrealistic to expect people to use those facilities especially if you are over size 8. It was 35 degrees outside and the AC was not turned on, the room was very, very hot. The Second room was bigger with two beds, however the toilet was unbelievable. It was a child size toilet, the water level was higher than usual, when my husband sat down his private parts touch the water, which is not sanitary. We didn't realize this until we came back to our room late at night. We Had to squat to use the toilet. No blinds/shades on the windows, the drapes were much narrower than the windows so that didn't help and the one with the AC, it was very long and went over the unit.
- Tamara (4/5): - Bed was very uncomfortable. The motel was just ok as there was nothing else available at the last minute but over priced for what you get.
- Jachro (4/5): Not As Advertised - Prior to booking I called this motel and asked if they had wheelchair accessible rooms. They assured me it was. I also asked if they were within walking distance of the theatres and was told it was a 5 - 7 minute walk. Well as for wheelchair accessible... NOT AT ALL. There was a five to six inch curb up to the tarmac walkway in front of the rooms which was lumpy and uneven. The rooms themselves were a ten inch step up from the tarmac. Luckily we had our six foot ramp with us and were just able to bridge across to the top of the room step. Once inside the room there very little room to manoeuvre and the bathroom is tucked in a corner and very tiny. As for the distance to the theatres. More like a 7 - 10 minute drive.
If you are looking for someplace to sleep only, the room is adequate. The only amenity is a small refrigerator. No hair dryer, no coffee/tea maker, no extra pillows, no closet. Basically a bed, a desk, a couple of 3 drawer dressers and a bathroom. (Did I mention how tiny the bathroom is? 3 ft wide and 7 feet long).
Unfortunately finding other accommodations in Stratford on a summer weekend is impossible so we made the best of it and spent as little time as possible there.
