Guest Reviews
- NorthStar726803 (10/5): Great Atmosphere, Great Customer Service - At the end of January, 2026, My wife and I got away for a quick one night stay in the finger Lakes. Our stay at The Geneva on the Lake Hotel was wonderful. The room was exceptional as was the atmosphere in the bar. Breakfast the next morning was also very good. We will definitely stay here when the next opportunity presents itself. We highly recommend this boutique hotel.
- FrequentFlier325620 (2/5): Very Dissappointing - This hotel smelled just like what it was, outdated structure. Rooms were small and outdated, staircases were probably not to code.
Misrepresented views of the lake. Non cooperative staff.
- Philip (10/5): - Originally called to let the hotel know that we were traveling with our two small dogs. That message didn’t get passed on unfortunately but the staff accompanied us by putting us in a “non-pet” room.
The grounds are beautiful. Was very quiet the night we stayed there.
- nadiacZ5415CK (2/5): Not the resort experience pictured on the website. - The website suggests a high-end experience, and, unfortunately, the stay you actually have is average, at best. Booked a deluxe suite for 2 nights, thinking that it would have a sitting area, or anything other than sitting in the bed. The room we received had a king bed, one chair (so low to the ground, my five foot frame had issues getting out of it), and a full (dated) kitchen. The fireplace was not functional, and had a sign that said the chimney was removed for safety reasons. The bed was comfortable, and the view was lovely, but the windows did not open.
We ate dinner at the restaurant and were terribly underwhelmed by the New York strips we ordered. The server made several mistakes, but was gracious. The bartender was excellent in his recommendations and super helpful with suggestions for the next day. Breakfast the next morning was included in our package, but was still charged to our bill separately, which required a phone call and email to have it (mostly) reversed. Selections for breakfast were limited and only one waitress was serving both rooms, so it required some patience.
Overall, it’s fine to sleep or wander the lovely gardens, but do not bother with the restaurant or expect a resort-like experience. I’m sure the Finger Lakes has better to offer at that price point.
- Mike (10/5): - the staff was very friendly and the property itself was fantastic.
- Robin (10/5): - Amazing!
- I1843KFannan (2/5): Terrible. Unsafe - Unbeknownst to us, a wedding party was scheduled literally right outside our room door. Party was loud and obnoxious well into the night. Drunk wedding guests tried to forcibly enter our room and we have not had any rest after paying hundreds of dollars to get away for the weekend. Aside from the loudness and disruption, we felt very unsafe even in our room and definitely wouldn’t have been able to leave our room. Don’t go here, it was an incredibly unsafe environment
- Lovetotravelfamily4 (2/5): Unorganized, old and worn out place, I wouldn’t stay again if it was free! - There is poor management here and it is unfortunate, because this could be a nice place. The arrival at the lobby was the most underwhelming check in ever. It’s a counter with room for about three people in a tiny room, we just wanted to run. The corridor carpets smell and are frayed, they couldn’t find our key for about 45 minutes. The rooms are very dated, with very old appliances. The rest of the room was fine and spacious, but the kitchen was just bad, not another way to put it. Our breakfast was included, however staff didn’t show up and a young lady from the front check in counter was helping and doing her best. My breakfast was not eadible at all and we just left. This isn’t really a hotel or resort, it appears to be an old apartment building with a restaurant.
- mitchellp515 (10/5): Upscale - Definitely an older place, but very quaint. We spent the weekend there with a 4 hour driven wine, beer, and cider excursion. Our lady Joan who drove us,as well as took care of our reservation, was personable and fun. Restaurant had good food, we only ate breakfast once, choices were limited, but excellent. You can access the lake, but is a small hike.
- Louis P. (6/5): - Expedia sent me a phony menu and wine pairing document that the hotel convincingly explained was not valid. I only made dinner reservations thru Expedia because of this promotion. The dining staff were very kind and apologetic .
- Gillian (10/5): - The pool alone is reason to visit this stunning property. Old world opulence, beautiful views and grounds.
- CHURCHGUY (10/5): - Outstanding service! Beautiful grounds and very comfortable rooms! We will be back for sure as this I one of the nicest places I have have ever stayed
- 918marylynnl (10/5): Wonderful getaway!! ❤️❤️ - “WOW! What a MAGNIFICENT, Magical resort this is! We Highly recommend it. Room was clean, large & stately. Restaurant food & cocktails were delicious. Our fire alarm started beeping one night and Jason, who was wonderful, kind & courteous was at our room in 10 seconds flat & resolved the situation. We were offered an upgrade in our room by Jehan, the manager, a bottle of bubbly from Kristin, the assistant manager, it was then hand delivered to our room, with a friendly smile, by Christina the concierge. The pool was just right and the Jimi-Marley singers on Tuesday night was a treat. We had a lovely stay!
- Vesselin (10/5): - Property is located in a beautiful setting on the lake. The garden and the view from the restaurant are incredible. We ate at the restaurant and some of the items were good but some were mediocre. Overall would love to stay there again, beautiful and relaxing place.
- roberto (10/5): - Right on the lake, beautiful walking area behind the hotel. Highly recommend the hotel restaurant. We will definitely be back!
- Ranger25 (8/5): Romantic Lunch while traveling the vineyards - Chose to have a quick
Lunch while
Doing
Some
Wine tasting. Lunch was classic and well made. Service was excellent. The Som suggest some local wines to match our lunch that hit the spot. Had the charcuterie plate and some other apps Thought it wall was very good then walked the grounds. M
- William (10/5): - Above
- W6202JKjenniferg (4/5): An update and airing out is needed. - We stayed in townhouse I. The smell was like old mothballs . It was so off putting that we almost left and went somewhere else but for 650.00 a night ( absolutely NOT worth it ) we stuck it out. The pictures online are not what we got. The beds did not have anything but a sheet and a white thin blanket . No cute decor. Very dated and not in a charming way. The grounds are lovely but the price is not worth it. I wanted to live it because the pictures made it look darling. If you like musty, old mothball smells at an overpriced price then this is the place . If not - keep moving down the street to a different place .
- Jeffrey (8/5): - Lovely property. With a modest but reasonable investment of : new mattresses, new carpeting, new drapery, this property goes a whole better category of protection.
- Synpdx (2/5): Don’t - really just don’t stay - I join others in writing that this property deserves to be rated”Terrible”. Let me explain.
After researching this last year and seeing many good reviews I booked a stay. In compliance with their policy I paid them an advance of $1,197.44. “Since we are a small boutique property, each booking impacts our inventory, and we continually aspire to provide an exceptional experience to all our guests. To ensure that we maintain our standards, we require a 100% reservation deposit to confirm your reservation.” As a very frequent traveler (Marriott Titanium for Life, etc) I did so against my better judgment, but the pictures of the setting on their website gulled me into believing I was dealing with a high class hotel. Instead, here’s what we experienced.
The room was up a set of stairs that one reviewer compared to a fire escape. Fortunately our few pieces of luggage were carried up for us by a staff person. I use the word “fortunately” because there is no elevator. Once in the room, he said the fireplace was not functional due to the high cost of updating it. He proceeded to tell us how to operate the AC. The room was cold, so I asked how to control the heat? We were told the “boiler” would need to be turned on, but he’d see to that right away. After more than an hour of no heat, I called the front desk - they’d see to it. About another hour goes by, still no heat. We are able to get two space heaters brought to the room but still no boiler activity. We were not able to get an additional blanket because another room had requested 3 and no more were available.
Off to dinner. We were seated in an area that was cold and asked to be reseated in a warmer part of the restaurant. This turned out be next to swinging doors used by wait staff and kitchen. The space was very loud due to kitchen noise and robust conversation between cooks and waiters. We went back to the colder but quieter area. They pride themselves on having dry aged beef but the filet I ordered was nothing to brag about. Apparently they have a grill that does not cook hot enough to sear steaks and seal in meat juice. Result? Expensive, dry, overpriced filet. Pathetic!
Back to cold room where its drabness is now really undeniable. The tv is small and positioned so that it can be viewed only while being in bed. The only chair in room was a large old thing that did not invite a close look that might disclose why the impression it conveyed was want of cleanliness. The seat cushion of this chair was the lowest I’ve seen, about 12” off floor and very uncomfortable. (Sorry, no picture.)
The bathroom? One reviewer has compared it to “old Quality Inn”. I disagree. I think we’re really in Motel 6’s domain here. That person, LD, did take a picture which I’ve cadged as a screen shot that needs to seen by anyone considering a stay at this high class place(?).
Breakfast the next morning was reserved for 9. We arrived early and couldn’t help notice several guests were waiting for their order. Not a good sign. By 9:30, with no coffee or even water being served, we called it quits. Told front desk our experience was so disappointing that we’re leaving. I expected some adjustment of our bill or at least a partial refund of the $1,000 plus I’d entrusted with them almost a year previously to secure our stay at this “small boutique hotel”. No luck.
Called the next day ( a Friday, Oct 11) and was told told by Christin (sp?) that a Mr W..K, the manager, would need to decide. No call back. Called back on Monday and was told by Christin that she would get an answer and promised a call back before end of the day. No call. I called the hotel back today (Wednesday, 16th) and was informed by Christin they were keeping ~$1,150, per policy, - you understand.
In every way this hotel deserves a rating of TERRIBLE and begs for a category lower than Terrible. I feel like I’ve been robbed, but they obviously need the money. Hope my money is used to make needed improvements.
(Sorry, couldn’t upload pictures)
- bbmuller (6/5): High expectations, but disappointed - We were traveling thought the area and I had wanted to check out this place because it is a Select Registry Inn. Building and grounds were beautiful, yet also in a state of decay. It was disappointing to have dirty worn carpeting and dirty windows in a suite with a premium price. We benefitted with a better deal staying on a Monday evening which included breakfast and a wine tasting package, yet it still felt overpriced.
- margaret (10/5): A wonderful time for everyone - What a wonderful weekend. The boutique hotel, beautiful location on the lake and wonderful service made for an amazing time with family.
- O9491AEvirginiag (2/5): I recommend that you stay away from this hotel. - This was a last minute stay for us. We were very much looking forward to a pleasant stay on the lake. The staff could not have been nicer. But the room is shabby. The carpeting is filthy. It has a funky smell and the mattress is extremely hard. When one of us moves the entire mattress moves. I’ve never been so disappointed with a hotel. Don’t stay here.
- Inspire19566728878 (6/5): Maybe time to reimagine. - My husband booked this stay to celebrate my birthday and to have a late summer getaway.
I know my husband got a deal on the room and don't know how much he paid.
We were disappointed to find very few fellow guests at the hotel, given that we stayed, albeit on a Monday, but the week before Labor Day.
We had a three room suite (which was wasted on our one night stay), but I gather that suites are all that are available.
The suite was decorated in the 1980s Victorian style. The kitchen also was circa 1985, but not at all Victorian, which was kind of jarring. The rooms were clean and the bed comfortable..
Activities at the hotel include an unheated outdoor pool and several lawn games. Signs on the property point to lake activities (boating. fishing
etc.), but the dock area was desserted and no equipment was in evidence. There is also a bar and restaurant, but no lobby.
Dinner at the hotel was a disappointment. but breakfast was good and included in our deal.
The worst thing that happened was my experience with the jetted tub. I unfortunately got in the tub while the water was running only to discover that I could not reach the faucet to turn the water off nor could I get out of the tub! Eventually, by stretching my leg out of my hip socket. I reached the faucet with my big toe.
I then tried the jet controls to find that they did not work. All for naught.
I again had the problem of not being able to get out of the tub. It was too narrow to turn over and get on my hands and knees. There were grab bars, but they were positioned for taking a shower, not for helping me get up. I could get to a crouched position, but the bottom of the tub was too slippery to attempt standing. Eventually I found a way to drain the tub (again with my feet) and braved standing from the crouched position with my husband spotting me, but this was truly a scarry predicament.
Finally. please see the sign found in the bathroom and posted below to give an indication of what else is wrong with this hotel.
- T8638SNld (6/5): Website pictures were not what we experienced - Room small and dated. Pictures on website look really nice but the room we got was nothing like the website. The room has a number of items that need repair, fireplace doesn’t work, mirror latch broken and very dated old furniture. It was clean and they had toothbrushes and toothpaste and robes.
We have stayed at a number of hotels in the area and this place would be the bottom of the list. We also had dinner at the hotel. Very limited menu but the waitress was very nice and they had a jazz band. Food was average.
The grounds are gorgeous. Such a shame the rest of the place is in disrepair.
- E4479DNmichaela (2/5): Lousy food service - We waited over 2 hours for our dinner out side.
The seafood was supposed to have mussles and shrimp, one shrimp, another had shells no mussels
Some meals took over 2 hours and it was dark. Finally they placed lights on the table
No ice for the water and tea
Very disappointed
Will never go back
- Sherpa15978323081 (6/5): Disappointed - We were expecting the advertised small boutique hotel experience. Instead we found a dated hotel with a motel like reception area. There was no elevator in the building to access our third floor room. The room itself was large but in need of updating and lacked expected conveniences such as safes and outlets for devices. There also appeared to be a staffing problem which became evident as we waited one and a half hours after placing our breakfast order. The grounds, too, appeared to be only minimally maintained. The staff at the hotel was pleasant and accommodating, and apologized for the shortcomings, but sadly it would be difficult to recommend this hotel at this time.
- D2997YZalyssag (4/5): Anniversary dinner - Hotel is under new ownership. We got engaged there back in May 2007. Food and service was top notch and they paid attention to detail back then. My husband wanted to go there for an anniversary dinner this year. Food was average. Waitress was very accommodating when I didn’t like my meal and had a different one made for me. The menu didn’t have many choices to choose from which was disappointing. Also, they never made the chocolate covered strawberries my husband paid for in advance. The waitress was very apologetic and made sure we got a refund. However, the manager never came to speak with us. Overall, it was a very disappointing 15 year anniversary dinner. I wish we didn’t spend an hour driving there and saved the money. We should have just stayed home!
- James (4/5): - The gardens and the view of the lake were great, We were not impressed with our accommodations, for $400.00 a night the room was very dated. There were cobwebs on the ceiling and screens, the rug was badly soiled. ordered red roses for our 2nd wedding anniversary and was told their supplier ran out? so we got a mixed arrangement that was reduced $15.00 off from $65.00..
Had dinner reservations for 6:00pm on 6/24/2024, We were here for dinner 2 years ago and had a wonderful meal. The menu this time around was limited due to the fact many of the entree's were prepared beforehand with black pepper. My wife is allergic to all kinds of peppers. The restaurant opened at 5:00pm and we were told that they were out of the $60.00 Rib Eye steak, come on now! two years ago they had Bananas Foster on the menu prepared tableside. This was not the case this year, was told management changed the menu! On a trip that I was trying to impress my wife, nothing turned out right. Finally our room was on the second floor with no elevators, and i have heart issues.
- Carrie (6/5): - Beautiful grounds but the rooms were pretty old and undesirable. The bar “closed” early and despite banging on the door we were ignored. Apparently “Nina” was asked and she said no to our request for a drink at 8:45. For the price point you’d expect better.
- cortney (6/5): - We arrived at this supposedly prestigious hotel and checked into our room only to find it hadn't been cleaned. Someone's food/clothes were everywhere. They offered to buy ONE of our drinks at the bar (which was soo dirty) and waited 1 1/2 hours for it to be cleaned. Just really disappointed.
- 277danutaw (6/5): A Resort with a Lot of Potential - The resort truly looks amazing in the pictures and from the outside, when you get there. However, we were disappointed with the quality of service, particularly given the fact that rates are rather high. When I got there, I realized there was no lobby, but rather a small area to complete the check in process in. I walked in and waited at least 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge my presence (that person was sitting in the back office, down the stairs). The first words I heard from her were "This is my first day here, so I'm not sure how to check you in. I'm waiting for someone to come in". Hmmmm....not really a welcome you would expect. Shortly after, another employee (Melissa, I believe) showed up and completed the check in process quickly. This is when the issues began. Our stay was for 2 nights and as per the information on the resort website, the package we paid for (Stay and Save) included "breakfast each morning". The lady that checked us in asked me to choose which morning we'd like the complimentary breakfast on. I had to show her a screen shot to make her realize that we are eligible for breakfast on both days. The misunderstanding stemmed from a discrepancy on their website. In one spot it states "breakfast each morning" and in another "2 breakfast entrees". The next day we went hiking and wine tasting and upon our return we realized that there was hardly any maid service provided. The bed was not made, the room and the bathroom were not cleaned, no supplies were left (tea, coffee, shampoo, make up remover etc). The only services that were provided were emptying the trash cans and replacing the towels. When I went down to the reception and asked why the housekeeping did not attend to the tasks mentioned above, Jason's reply was "Did you request maid service?" I was left speechless, as I have never stayed in a hotel or a resort where you had to request it. Typically, you place a sign on the door knob whenever you don't need it. While I was talking to Jason, another staff member showed up - Alexa. I believe she was an assistant manager. She listened to my concerns and asked if I wanted someone to provide housekeeping at that point in time. I explained it would be an inconvenience, as we were tired and wanted to rest after a busy day. Although I got an apology from her, no compensation was offered, even though housekeeping cost was included in the rate. I want to add that a few minutes later Jason dropped off a few supplies that were missing. My suggestions for improvement:
- Train the front desk staff to ensure they are aware of the details of all the packages advertised on the website or better yet, make sure the information there is consistent
- Consider updating the units (get rid of the stained carpet, remove a huge, old fashioned stove, provide easily accessible charging stations to eliminate the need to dive under the table or behind the bed)
- Provide additional training to housekeeping staff
- Encourage office staff to wear uniforms to identify them easily or at least ask them to wear name tags
-When you send a confirmation, please provide the details of the booking i.e. the name of the package and what it includes
In closing, I'd like to offer a shoutout to Kayla who was our restaurant server. She was polite, professional and efficient.
- Cathy (10/5): - This is a beautiful property! Great view of the lake with outdoor seating. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant which was overall good, but duck was well done. Service was great! The room was beautiful but a little noisy as someone was moving furniture above us at night,
- Li (10/5): - The classical style of the rooms with English literature books.
- Susan (10/5): Perfect place in Geneva - We were in Geneva for the multiday Hobart graduation. The Inn was the perfect location. Check-in was easy, staff friendly and helpful, rooms clean and comfortable, meals were excellent, grounds pleasant to walk around, history of the property interesting, checkout simple.
- Raymcc (10/5): Fab place on Seneca - Love this place. The rooms are a tad quirky but plenty of room and comfy beds. The bar and staff are amazing. Restaurant is top notch. Bar tender and wine manager are exceedingly insightful and lovely. Beautiful location on Seneca. Highly recommend
- NJfrogge (2/5): Terrible sleepless stay at hotel chaos. - Terrible management of this beautiful historic mansion is a tragedy. We paid an extremely excessive $1300 for aroom diring the eclipse event, and hotel staff made it impossible to get any peace & quiet to enable sleep.
The first night we were awoken at 11:30pm and kept up for a long time by loud bass heavy trance music that seemed to emanate from locked restaurant kitchen area. No hotel staff could be found by us on 3 trips looking, and phone for hotel & restaurant were not answered.
2nd night we had staff moving furniture above us with bangs & yelling. We did find a staffer to complain to after getting out of bed & going downstairs. Later staff was knocking on our room door, then calling to ask if our ceiling was leaking.
The restaurant & wsit staff eere rven worse, if you can believe it. Never again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room was large with fridge, sink and stove. There was lots of storage/closet space. Shower was hot with a good flow. We had difficulty working the heat/AC remote so room was a bit chilly but nothing bithersome enough to call front desk.
- Vicky (10/5): - Beautiful views, excellent food and service, kind people!
- Gloria (10/5): - My stay at the hotel was absolutely outstanding! Property and grounds are absolutely gorgeous and I had a lovely view of the lake. The staff was amazing with all good vibes! Food in the dining room was fantastic with beautiful ambiance. My only suggestion is better bedding especially a big poofy comforter.
- joe (10/5): - Lovely property which was formerly a monestary. Wonderful view of the lake, nice dining room on the premises and close to downtown Geneva.
- Jatinder (8/5): - Great location. Property from outside is very beautiful.Rooms are in need to be updated.
- Matthew (10/5): - Everything around this place is completely magical. The staff were amazing… Flights of wine tasting, and a delicious dinner at the bar after a long drive. Woke up and had coffee on the edge of the lake from 75 feet up. The bed was comfortable the hotel was quiet would do again might in fact move there.
- William (10/5): - Great restaurant with attentive staff and great food. Grounds are lovely
- Christopher (4/5): Beds are terrible and the place is extremely dated - The “brand new” mattresses, as we were told by the front desk, are hard as a rock. The pristine pictures you see online don’t look anything like this place. There is no view of the lake from the rooms. The place is old, dated and the rooms (ours was a suite) have commercial kitchen type of quarry tile with dirty grout lines. Save your money and go elsewhere. I complained about the mattress so that’s how I know they were “brand new”. We ended up not staying the second night forfeiting $450 for the night because they said they couldn’t refund it. Hotels.com claims they tried to get us a refund but they failed miserably as well. There were very few guests and no weddings going on when we were there. I guess that’s why they couldn’t refund our money when I told them I couldn’t stay another night on that hard mattress due to back issues I . Instead we let them keep the money and we drove 6 hours home. Buyer beware!
- Helen (10/5): - We lived on a third floor. The veux was wonderful. However, the stairs are very steep and you would think twice of going back to the room. Elevator would greatly improve the accessibility
- William (10/5): Beautiful property! - Beautiful property! The view of the lake and the landscaping is fantastic. The proximity to the town of Geneva is a major plus.
The only criticism is that there is no lobby and area to gather. The check-in is located in a very small office. But other than that, we truly enjoyed our stay.
- Margaret (10/5): - Great view of Seneca Lake.
Path to a dock.
- Susan (10/5): - Beautiful property, both the building and the grounds. Staff is friendly and efficient. Definitely would stay again.
- Jon (2/5): - Outdated - room terrible bed terrible no elevator
- amymX9854YN (4/5): Save your money....not worth it - Please save your money. I feel "taken" by the posted photos. If you want to pay for the view only - then stay here. They are selling themselves as a luxury resort. This is not a luxury resort. Our room was stark - furniture minimal and old and not antique old. The bathrooms are 30 years old or older. Like an old Quality Inn bathroom. I am embarrassed to share what I paid for the room. It came with a small kitchen (which I do not remember booking but I guess I did). IF you want that, it is functional but super tiny and circa 1990. E2B was my room. Practical things like a bedside lamp or nearby outlets to charge phones were non-existent. My room sort of had a balcony but to get to it I had to step way up high onto a radiator to get out there. It is just to stand on - no room to sit on balcony. Drapes looked to be about 20 years old too.
The bed was comfy - thank goodness.
Upon check in I was told there was a boat house and we could take boats out on the incredible lake. On Saturday when I went to inquire I was told NOPE, boats N/A. There is signage directing guests to boathouse but nothing was available for entire weekend due to lack of safety equipment.
Rate does not include breakfast. Coffee (plain) was $4 a cup. Really?
When I went to check out I offered to discuss all of the above with someone but manager was not available and I left my number. Never heard from anyone. This was overall a strange experience and I would not recommend.
- PKC1342 (10/5): Perfect Finger Lakes Hotel - This is a beautiful hotel on a gorgeous piece of property with incredible views of Geneva Lake. Plus, it’s very quiet. Add an excellent in-house restaurant - Diciannove Dieci - and it’s an ideal location to be based as you explore the incredible Finger Lakes region. And the staff are very nice & helpful.
- 639jodih (10/5): Diciannove Dieci Is Second To None - I once was privileged to have a private wine tasting with Robert & Sue Mondavi of Mondavi Wines. It was held at the stately Inn at Quogue in the Hamptons of Long Island during a celebrity-filled summer season of great learning about wines and cuisine for me. I’ve also had the privilege to dine in some of the most famous restaurants in Manhattan during my years of residence there, and only one fine dining event has come close to matching or exceeding the experiences mentioned above, and that is my experience at DICIANNOVE DIECI at Geneva On The Lake, the former Capuchin Monastery located on majestic Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes Region of central New York State.
Chef Carl spent quality time with us, telling us about the procuring and preparation, the care and consideration that goes into every dish prepared at Diciannove Dieci. Dinner was richly embellished with several extraordinary pourings of award-winning craft brew provided and presented by Peter Achilles, brewer at the agriculturally driven, award-winning Big Alice Brewery, based in Brooklyn, but with a new location just south of Geneva On The Lake in Geneva. Every selection offered was delicious, honestly better than any beer or ale I’ve ever had the pleasure to enjoy anywhere, which is… well, too many to count. Peter talked us through each selection, obviously loved what he does and was as personable and affable as Chef Carl… the two made a great pair, the dynamic duo of cuisine and beer. A trip to local Big Alice Brewery is hereby warranted.
Both the beef and the pork was produced by Schrader Farms Meat Market in Romulus, New York and was exceptional. It provides high-quality, grain-fed, farm-raised meat in times when it's good to know where your meat is coming from. When such premium, grain-fed, fresh local meat falls into the hands of a chef like Chef Carl, it’s transformed into something beyond the expectations of even the most discerning of persons. Both the beef and the pork dishes were mouthwatering and delicious.
I could go on and on. I’ve dined in the best of the best on both the east and west coasts and am proud to say that Diciannove Dieci, right here in the Finger Lakes, is second to none.
- carolyn90254 (10/5): This place is the BEST! - I cannot say enough about how great our experience was at this hotel. The hotel is so glamorous - but they made us feel right at home. Talk about lifestyles of the rich and famous! The staff was wonderful - John checked us in and was very nice and welcoming. Noah was our waiter - he was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The restaurant was superb. We had duck our first night and it was amazing. The chicken wings are a must! The chef came out to make sure everything was good, and we really appreciated his interest. Nina worked the bar and she was fantastic. The beds were wonderful and the pillows were fluffy. We plan to come again - this place is not to be missed.
- artvandalay44 (10/5): Not a shiny Object - Elegance and Serenity - For many years we have been visiting the Finger Lakes, and Geneva on the Lake. For many years, we have seen its potential and for many years we have left grateful for our stay. Geneva on the Lake is not a shiny object, it is elegance with a healthy dose of kindness, hospitality, HISTORY, architecture, and love. If you're looking for shiny screens, this is not your place. If you're looking for class and reward, the ability to exist, then come here and spend lots of time here. We have travelled to many hotels in luxury, and many are amazing. But, here, we have serenity. What other hotel is sticked with handmade historic Stickley Furniture on which you'll put your coffee mug and glass of wine?
We are told that new owners have taken over the property - kudos to them for the work that they have performed in a short amount of time. The bar is a shining jewel befitting a beautiful region, the restaurant is welcoming, inviting, and tasty, and the renovations are taking hold. Kudos to them for doing with carefully - we do not need elegance to be downgraded by another shiny object. Know before you go - this is place to be- to savor carefully selected wine, food cooked with passion, and beds built by American hands for thousands of dollars.
- 955janetg (6/5): Beautiful Estate BUT check booking details closely - The hotel is a beautiful location and the grounds were so nice even at this time of year! Most of the staff was professional and very nice. The hotel is renovating many rooms. Even though we had a deluxe room, there were needed updates. We were told that other rooms needed more renovations before ours. BeBeautiful very wary of packages and costs that are not clear from the beginning. We paid more than expected for an 'Escape' package. Booking online would have been an advantage in costs but we didn't know.
- IR8U (10/5): Winter weekend getaway - We booked a last minute weekend trip. Although the restaurant is closed for renovations, the staff planned an intimate 5-course meal in what was the original library in this mansion. There were only 6 tables, a blazing wood fire, candlelight, and a charming sommelier who explained all of the wine pairings with our meal. The entire staff was genuinely warm and we enjoyed our conversations with them. Each course was delicious and it was one of the more memorable dinner evenings we've had. We briefly went to the bar, with its beautiful cathedral ceilings and cozy lighting. The hotel is charming; yes it's older but the grounds are huge with an expansive view of the lake. Our two bedroom suite had eclectic antique-like pieces and was fastidiously clean, despite being older. We visit the finger lakes region at least yearly and we are so happy to have found another lovely gem to visit next summer.
- Ryan (10/5): - Beautiful property!!
- Maura (6/5): Noisy and no elevator or pool - We are an older couple and had a room on the top floor- did not know that there is NO elevator and they were also doing noisy roof repair directly outside our room all day long. No indoor pool, the bathroom was the size of a closet and the decor is ancient. Overpriced and not worth it.
- Bob (6/5): - First the good - great staff, beautiful grounds and excellent location. Renovated bar and bartender were great!
Now the bad - rooms are dated and in need of renovation and the on-site restaurant is violently overpriced and serving poorly executed food. As a chef, I was embarrassed for them serving such badly prepared food and then having the temerity to charge high end prices. It was also roasting hot in the dining room. Anyplace would be better to eat.
- Jonathan (8/5): - Property was stunning! Will absolutely stay here again
- JAMES (2/5): - NO DOUBT ONCE A GREAT HOTEL BUT NOT ANY LONGER. NO ELEVATOR,MURPHY BED IN ROOM
WAY OVER PRICED FOR ACCOMDATIONS
- William (10/5): - absolutely wonderful. an excellent place to relax
- Margaret (10/5): - The property is beautiful and quiet. The staff were all excellent. We only stayed one night. Next time we will stay longer and take in more of the activities in the area.
- Carol (10/5): - A lovely facility. Our room, or suite I should say, was wonderful. Staff was very friendly and the surrounding gardens were very nice.
- Andrea (10/5): - We had a great stay for our first trip to the Finger Lakes region--easy to check in, friendly and accommodating staff, delicious meals on property, beautiful grounds, and comfortable room...will definitely stay here again in the future and highly recommend to others!
- Anoop (10/5): - Amazing enchanted property on the lake
- Eileen (4/5): - Dated, worn, no amenities no luxury for 4 star hotel . Convenient and good area
- Delos (10/5): - We had a very nice stay. A lot of renovations being made so limited access to the facilities. We feel that should be noted when you book a room. It however, didn’t greatly effect our stay. Breakfast at the restaurant was very nice. Staff over all is very kind & accommodating. Our room was very clean & comfortable. Kitchen appliances a bit dated but everything you would need to make breakfast, a quick meal or snack provided. We were very pleased. Stately, impressive property. I’m sure it will be stellar after the renovations.
- elizabeth (10/5): Peaceful - Loved Geneva on the Lakes. Joan and Kristen are amazing keepers of the hotel. It's right on the lake. Townhouse was supplied with all necessities.
- Robert (10/5): - Our first contact with the front desk, we knew we made the perfect choice in our stay. The woman at the front desk was so friendly and excited to see us....even though it was our first time there. She gave us a free upgrade without even asking for one. The property was clean and the room was like stepping into a colonial age. The room quiet and cozy. We did have breakfast in the morning which was delicious. We definitely recommend staying here and will do so on our next trip to the finger lakes. Bob and Tammy Powers
- Christina (4/5): Disappointed - We stayed in the dog friendly townhouse. It was like taking a step back into the 80’s. Everything was so outdated. I’m guessing this is why there are limited pictures online. What was supposed to be a nice getaway turned out to be very disappointing. Would not recommend for the price.
- Joe (10/5): - Beautiful property and friendly staff , had a great get away !
- Charlene (10/5): A real gem. - We had a wonderful time. Walked the grounds. The history of the building is amazing. We had dinner onsite at Lancellotti Restaurant. Noah our waiter was a wonderful young man and took great care of us. Steve the piano player played a great selection of music. Our food was fabulous and we will return.
- Krystal (8/5): - The hotel overall is pretty nice. Unfortunately during the winter there was not much to do around the local area. The staff is very nice but restaurant service was very slow for the price we paid.
- Rex (4/5): - The property was overall disappointing. I thought it would have been a lot better. The living room was drafty and cold. The room smelled musty. There were numerous stink bugs found in the room.
- Yuriy (10/5): - Family freindly.
- Karen (8/5): - Ot very customer service friend in restaurants
- John (8/5): - Our second time there, it is a beautiful property and the staff is excellent! Very convenient to Geneva and the wine/beer trail. The room though needed attention. It was generally clean but the carpet needed a good shampoo. All in, we enjoyed it and will be back.
- George H (8/5): - A very unique property with beautiful views.
- Garry (8/5): - The piano player during dinner was the best! My dinner was exceptional I ordered the special that night. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room had roses and chocolate covered strawberries to celebrate our anniversary. The grounds are beautiful, picture perfect. The highlight was sitting on the bluff and watching the sunrise. We grabbed a coffee and apple bread from the parlor at 6:30 and went straight out to watch the sunrise over the Seneca Lake and it was perfect. My only disappointment was that so much of the interior of the home had been gutted and lost to make room for hotel rooms. I had my heart set on seeing a grand stair case or large dinning room or something from the historical period that it was built in. Sadly there was very little to see. Still I think I will be back. That sunrise got me! It is the perfect location.
- Sybilla (2/5): - The property surrounding the hotel is beautiful. But I do feel we were not treated as Hotel guests since we only had maid service ONE day. After the second day of our stay we had to inquire why our room had not been cleaned especially the bathroom also there were no clean towels. They told us the maid had not shown up and to bring our dirty towels down and pick up clean ones. When I pay over $400 a night and have to clean my own bathroom (tub, toilet and sink) and chase after clean towels I am most certainly not a happy customer. If the maids do not show up for work they are obviously not payed adequately!!! Sorry will never go back.
- Harold (8/5): - Friendly, accommodating staff. The rooms were comfortable with (surprisingly) too many closets.
The one significant downside was the apparent updating that was necessary throughout. or the amount of money we paid, more was expected.
The dinner menu is overpriced and not recommended, though service was nice.
The grounds were well manicured, pretty and peaceful.
- Paul (2/5): - Cancelled my reservations 4 days prior to staying because of medical emergency . Still being billed by Expedia . Never use Expedia again ! 80 years old !
- Allen J (10/5): - Beautiful grounds
- Jeanette (10/5): - Peaceful, relaxing,private,super food, helpful staff.
- Robert (8/5): - For the price facility has not been keep up ... seems worn and run down.
- Beverly (10/5): - Beautiful gardens. Friendly staff.
Peaceful. I highly recommend this hotel.
- Adele (6/5): - Property was nice, interior was dated and no lobby.
- David (2/5): - The property is beautiful, however the rooms need a great deal of work. Dated with basic repairs clearly not being done in years. The bathroom vanity even fell apart injuring a foot. Avoid this place unless it’s your last option.
- JOHN (10/5): - Great hotel all around
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The history of the structure
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Old eorld charm
- Bernard (8/5): Beautiful Tuscan Feel - Beautiful grounds with a Tuscan feel. Rooms are nicely modernized with AC, full kitchen, jacuzzi tub, but a bit smallish as you'd expect in an older place. Quiet with a sense of grace.
Very restful, lovely pool. Restaurant is overpriced and service slow; be prepared for a long wait for just OK food.
Note there is no elevator. We were OK with being on the third floor, but lot of steps.
Limited maid service due to Covid they say. At these resort prices it ought to be daily.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My favorite place to stay! Great service great atmosphere and great rooms
- Barbara (6/5): - Stayed overnight with a friend
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Old school inn with lots of history facing Lake Seneca. Fun family activities like cornhole, badminton, swimming pool and bicycles on the property. Short distance to Geneva.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Old world charm and amenities transport you to a relaxed and pampered state! We enjoyed our stay and we will be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The character and
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Arrival check/in issues
