• Michelle (5/5): Passable - Staff was really friendly! The room felt quite cramped for the number of people, and being on the top bunk, I hit my head on the ceiling several times. The shower wasn’t very clean, and there was little to no space to comfortably change clothes. Unfortunately, the experience was made more difficult by other guests in the room being quite loud.
• Nícolas (9/5): Very good stay - Stayed on a bedroom in the 3rd floor, very good facilities. Cleaning was acceptable and the ladies came everyday. All equipment worked. They let us checkin earlier and checkout a bit later. Although the hotel has a security guard, we would recommend for them to use a identification tag as other hostels do, because we noticed that the employees would ask from time to time if we were guests there.

• Rozita (4/5): Disappointing - We stayed at many Sociatels in different countries, but this was the worst one. The room literally only container a bed and a light, no mirror, no table. And they were under construction and mentioned it after we booked. No bar, no restaurant, it had not nothing.

• Karen (3/5): Poor - The room was fine. Only one bathroom in the whole building avaliabe for 15+ rooms. Some days we had to wait 39 minutes just to brush our teeths. A lot of power cuts and days with no water, not sure if its a local issue in the area though. They closed the kitchen without telling us one day to another
• Dyonne (9/5): I had a great stay. Staff was super friendly and always helpful. - Loved having a small balcony w table and chair to enjoy my morning coffee and evening tea. View over the water to lanchas coming and going and loud music at neighboring restaurants was all part of the in-town ambience. Fun and part of experiencing the place. I wish there was a way to boil water for tea, coffee, hot cereal. I brought my own but had to use my bed surface and night stand for prep. There should atleast be a common area with small counter electric kettle and sink for this. Maybe a cutting board and knife for slicing fruit. If nothing in the rooms there needs to be a common zone for it.
• George (3/5): Arse - Comfy bed, good location An outstanding abode if you are enticed by the luxuries that a construction site might present. I particularly enjoyed the harmonious chimes of the 8am alarm clock that my companion and I were treated to every morning. There’s nothing quite like the 3 hour racket of a Dewalt drill, piercing holes through the brickwork of the adjacent room to gently ease you out of your slumber. In addition to that, the entirety of the furniture within the premises had been ripped up, leaving nowhere to sit and relax. After enduring the hardship, like Martin Lewis, I feel I should return in a few months to see the final results of the transformation. One thing’s for certain though, I definitely won’t be! ☺️
• Aline (4/5): Muito a melhorar - Foi razoável, bem confuso no check in, pois nao tinham todas as informações do site e mesmo informando todos os detalhes da acomodação ainda me cobraram pelo menos 2x. No horário do cafe meu nome não consta na relação fazendo com que me dirigisse novamente a recepção para solicitar a liberação. Nesse momento como tinha um transfer e o horário do café é 7:20 am acabou que nao consegui tomar o café. Outro encomodo foi ter pintura em toda a instalação no meio da alta temporada. Enfim muitos detalhes ruins.

• Valéria (6/5): Not a good fit for people over 30 :D - The location is perfect and the terrace has amazing views, really calm for chill day or event for working. Wifi was working really well. The staff was super nice and helpful as I've decided to cancel my reservation after first night. It just wasn't a good fit for me, but my younger party me would probably enjoyed. Came on Saturday night, didn't expect the music to be that loud. It's a party hostel.. I know, but the music was going till 4am with people caraoke-ing Danza kuduro :D You could hear music in the room very loud and clear. Also the private room was super small and smelled like a wet neoprene suits were hang in there.

• Julian (1/5): They moved us to a new room after we found a used condom on the bedside table. But not before trying to move us from a p - 👎👎 Found a used condom on the bedside table. Had no power or water for a portion of the stay. Upon arrival found out the only accept cash. Some of the staff were rude when trying to change rooms after the condom was found. Overall it was a very poor experience.

• Cindy (5/5): Poor value for money - The location was great, and it’s very convenient if you’re partying on a Friday. I was expecting the value for money to be slightly poor as it’s a Selina, however I wasn’t expecting just how bad it would be. For the high price, the room was dated, smelled of damp and didn’t feel clean. The didn’t provide a proper towel, only a tiny towel which I originally thought was the shower mat. The building and the room was very bare and concrete, a bit prison like. There was lots of construction in the building and the spa was fully closed. You can get a really nice hotel room in a similar location for slightly cheaper.
• Kimberly (1/5): Bad - Facilities shut down without ample notice, terrace furniture put away and taped off. Shower door broken, water shut off multiple times for hours on end without notice or remedy. Only cash payments.
• Brigitta (1/5): Horrible experience. - The staff was nice. I booked here especially because according to their page they accept credit card unlike other accomodation in town but at reception they told me it's cash only and I wasn't prepared for this. If I knew this I would have booked something cheaper and less central. On the second day they shut down the kitchen and was closed during my whole stay. Also there was no water in the tap and bathrooms on my last 2 days so the whole building was literrally covered in shit. Also it's quiet time from 11 pm but could hear the party loud and clear from downstairs the whole night and the drunk people shouting on the corridors. Will never book Selina again.
• Federica (8/5): Very good - Central and clean hotel, with a bar, and restaurant, a deck, a surf centre, water taxi transportation just in front of the pier. Exactly what you could ask for. I personally chose Selina for a Friday night knowing that the filthy friday party would have been partially taking place here, and really liked it. However if someone is searching for a more relaxing hotel/ hostel at the weekend, this is probably not the best choice as the party easily go on until 3am.

• Stratton (7/5): This was a decent choice for the money. Great location to peer, shops, restaurants etc. - Location. The restaurant and bar overlooking river was great and the associates were friendly and service oriented on the deck. Big DJ two doors down on the water was very loud till 4-5am. Told desk people next day. They said we should had been informed about it and that we should had received ear plugs upon checking, but we didn’t. Mattress could and been better. Doors to bathroom should be quieter as they were slamming often at night.

The bar is one of the best in the island and offer a variety of options for drinks and food. Also, you can pay by card without any issue. The noise during night is really intense and need to clary that I was informed by the hotel about the noise during night but being honest is really loud.

I loved that they had activities every night for people who want to socialize and meet people from around the world! It is a party hostel but it shuts down to outsiders by 12am. The showers in the shared bathroom have amazing pressure and have hot water. AC in the private rooms was great! The staff was really nice and accommodating. We would stay here again! Make sure you bring bug repellent. We were getting bitten by something that wasn’t mosquitoes or bed bugs. This isn’t strictly a Selina thing, but a Bocas thing. We had a private bathroom in our room and the shower wasn’t that great so we would use the shared bathroom. You have to pay for the coworking space, which we thought was going to be free but maybe we missed that in the description.

• Jeremiah (9/5): Great Location! Ideal for Filthy Friday! - Great location. Close to the center of town, everything you’d need is nearby. Ideal location if you’re going to Filthy Friday. The office is just across the street, the party starts and ends at Selina. Comfy beds, rooms kept clean. Reliable Wi-Fi. Kitchen facilities for guests. Keep in mind that the filtered tap water is NOT potable. AC can be kept on all day heh. It’s pretty pricey, there are cheaper options in the area but you do get what you pay for.

• Bridget (8/5): Expensive for what it is but nice - The hostel itself is quite lovely, a good layout, and is constantly being cleaned by staff. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated, and we were kindly upgraded upon check-in. The shared kitchen is huge and very well equipped. The restaurant and deck are so nice to sit at, with big fans creating a lovely breeze at all times. Restaurant food is lovely, but quite expensive. Included breakfast is great but more restricted choices than other Selina’s. The place is very chill during the week, with most people being there from Thursday night to Monday morning for Filthy Fridays. The after party for Filthy Fridays was held at Selina, which is very convenient if you’re participating, but would be rough noise-wise if you’re not. The mark ups are quite ridiculous. The restaurant is quite expensive, as are any extras within Selina for the same service- just buy from the other street vendors, who advertise the exact same thing for less. The tours in particular are quite expensive. We went on the Cayo Zapatilla tour and were quite disappointed. While the water we snorkeled in was clear, we only had 35 mins. The dolphin watching consisted of several boats herding the dolphins into the one area, which seemed very cruel. We were then told to order our lunch at a restaurant for it to be ready two and a half hours later, at 2:30pm, and were taken to sit on a beach for 2 hours. No one told us that we would not be eating lunch until 2:30 and to bring snacks. The lunch was also tiny for how much we paid, and very ordinary. We also noticed that we were given meals half the size of the boat drivers and other locals (they had two domes of rice and double serve of protein, while we only had one).

• George (5/5): Nice rooms although the facility’s need updating - The property was in quite a good location with a nice open air kitchen made for a nice cooking environment. The rooms although small were well kept and clean. There is a critical issue with the availability of clean drinking water. The staff informed me that drinking water should be purchased in the local shop as the hostel does not provide any, demonstrating a significant environmental impact due to the plastic waste generated. I am concerned about the hostel's sustainability.

You need to ask for the cleaning of your room but that's a small ask and they quickly will go to your help! So it's not a full did not like but more like 'take in consideration'.

• Danielle (5/5): Passable - We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Bocas del Toro and are eager to return. Selina Backpackers provided a delightful stay with friendly and welcoming staff. It's the perfect place to unwind during the day and let loose in the evenings. However, I wouldn't suggest it for those seeking tranquility at night. I rate it 5 out of 10 stars, deducting points for the malfunctioning air conditioning and the broken steps for accessing the ocean, which made it difficult and potentially hazardous, especially after a few drinks. Despite these issues, it remains a beautiful spot that I would recommend to the younger crowd.
