Cody (9/5): THE spot to stay at Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock - Front desk staff was more than amazing and accommodating, welcoming us with free drinks, cookies, and local recommendations for food and activities. We chose an ocean front suite, and it exceeded our expectations. Plenty of space out on the balcony to comfortably sit 4-5 people with a magnificent view of Haystack Rock, Cannon Beach, and of course the North Pacific. Room was very clean and had tons of space. I feel like we could have entertained 6-8 people in the room due to the large fridge/kitchenette, the dining table for 6, the couch and the balcony. The bedroom and bathroom were very, very nice and comfortable and felt like a 4-star hotel for sure. 2-minute walk to Wayfarer restaurant where you have to get the crab bake! About a 5 min walk to Pelican Brewing down the street. Haystack Rock is about a 5-10 min walk on the beach to the tide pools. We also saw Elk at sunset along the beach! 1000% will be staying here again when we visit Cannon Beach. 0.5 mile walk to downtown Cannon Beach but if you drive a car there is more than plenty of parking downtown and it's about a 3-minute drive to get there.

We were there with family and not only was the room very comfortable but the beach in front of the resort was lovely. We saw many birds and sea life….. and dinner at Wayfarer was also an excellent experience.

ivegotjoy (6/5): okay - This is the most expensive hotel we have ever stayed in. I thought/was hoping it would feel more like the splurge it was, but a lot of things felt kind of cheap. And our whole family is exhausted from incredibly noisy neighbors. We could hear every propane word through the thin walls. At 12:30 a.m. we finally asked the front desk to ask them to be quiet. I’m not sure if they did, because it was a while after that before they went quiet.

Jon (10/5): Cozy comfort just off the beach - Our room had it's own little balcony with a view of Haystack rock. It was warm and cozy with a delightful electric fire. We enjoyed dining in the nearby restaurants, and strolled along the beach into town one day to indulge in a bit of shopping and more wonderful eats. Great location with wonderful staff, and the hot tub was an extra bonus.

We could only stay one night but wish we could’ve stayed forever. My fiancé and I tried almost every amenity (indoor hot tub, room service, beach access, etc.) and loved every one. The view of the beach is unreal, whether you’re in the Wayfarer Restaurant or in bed. Though it was cold outside we were able to enjoy the view, even from inside by the fireplace. We can’t wait to come back!!
X2916OCcarac (10/5): Surfsand, you’re the BEST :) - Our second time at Surfsand for spring break was as wonderful as the 1st time we came last April. We really love the location being able to walk down to the beach, and to town for shopping or restaurants. We used the complimentary shuttle too which was great for the times when the weather was a little wetter. It’s a very relaxing and laid back place, but they think of every detail, and the staff provides quality, friendly & attentive service. We enjoyed the daily fresh-baked cookies, the warm pool & spa, & coziness of our room. Our room was cleaned daily and excellent care was taken each time. The fact we can bring our pup is a huge bonus. Our daughters are always sad to leave which means we’ll absolutely be back! Thank you Surfsand for the amazing stay.
tommycurtin (4/5): So disappointing . . . - I’ve been a loyal guest of the Surf & Sand Hotel for over twenty years, which is why this most recent stay was especially disappointing. To start, while the newly renovated grounds are undeniably beautiful and a welcome update, the overall level of service has noticeably declined. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of what I’ve come to expect over the years. Despite confirming at the time of reservation that we would not be placed in an accessible room, we were assigned one anyway. This was frustrating, particularly because it had been clearly addressed in advance. The front desk attempted to address this issue but communicated information that was not in fact what was issued at time of check out. We also arrived with our pet and found that no pet kit had been provided in the room. After calling the front desk, we were told it would be sent up—but it never arrived. Eventually, I had to go down and retrieve it myself. There were several additional issues throughout our stay: The TV had poor connectivity and was difficult to use The Wi-Fi password provided in the login instructions was incorrect There was no housekeeping service during our visit The toilet in our room had ongoing flushing issues Individually, these might be minor inconveniences, but collectively they created a frustrating and disappointing experience. Over the years, I have referred many friends and colleagues to this hotel because of the consistently high standard it once delivered. However, based on this visit, it’s likely we’ll be looking for a different place to stay on our next trip to Cannon Beach.

Hotel offerings thru week are a plus, beer tastings,,fresh DELICIOUS COOKIES every afternoon! Also had personable accommodations for canine to include dog treats, ball and a washing station. Only complaint was the availability of functional EV Charging stations. There are 5 total - 3 for Tesla and 2 for others. Of these non Tesla stations only 1 worked. There should also be signage reminding users that there are time limits on staying in the spot so others can charge too. We encountered car that spent 10. Hrs at the charger

Jason (8/5): Loved the resort and location. The person above us ruined our trip and it was a very expensive stay. - The location was fantastic. the kids loved the cookies and ice cream theme day. The pool and hot tub were good. The bathtub in the bathroom was great. We had someone above us that shook the entire ceiling when they walked and vibrated the ceiling vents. The person was up early and up late. We did not have a proper sleep for all three nights. We have a video, it was horrendous.

808nlc (8/5): Solid Option in Cannon Beach - We spent just one night here during spring break. The location is ideal, on the beach and within walking distance of the restaurants. We booked a Haystack Rock view room and seeing Haystack from the balcony was perfect!! I like that there is no carpet in the room. The bathroom was very nice and love the soaking tub. The bonfire package was a great add-on and had a great time roasting marshmallows under the stars.

They did not miss a single detail; our room had a great view of Haystack Rock, a covered deck with chairs, fireplace, large soaking tub and seperate shower stall. Aveda shower products and makeup mirror. We loved the quiet hours to use the hot tub at 7 am. The front desk attendant was super professional and friendly. We feel as if he worked hard to find us a perfect room at a good price.

jimbop421 (10/5): Great resort with lots of amenities - This was a great resort to stay at, you're right on the beach with views of Haystack rock and the coast. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need. I had a room with an oceanfront balcony, and even though it was chilly it was still nice to have my coffee watching the ocean in the morning. At night it's really dark on the beach with great views of the stars. The staff makes you feel immediately welcome when you check in. The cookies they bake up every day are really good too. The resort offers a lot of amenities which is what brought me here and it didn't disappoint. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip back to Cannon Beach.

We booked an ocean front room on the second floor The rooms have been renovated, but the building is old and you can hear people walking on the floor above you. This was pretty disappointing as the noise was pretty intense. Also, I would only recommend reserving an ocean front room during the summer months as it is too cold to enjoy the outside patio in the winter. The bedroom room was tucked in the backside of the unit so you cant really leave the door open and enjoy the white sound of the crashing waves. Due to the cost, we are 50/50 if we would return to this location. They offer room service from the wayfarer restaurant next door, but tack on an automatic 15% gratuity for take out orders. We believe this fee should be removed for people staying at Surfsand. Thanks for listening.
Jules4je72 (8/5): Very disappointed in the view, considering I paid for it. - The rooms have been updated since the last time I was here, and the flooring pops and crackles because it’s too tight so it buckles a lot. There are no carpets on the floor, which I suppose makes it easier for them to clean, but it’s very hard on your feet. The service is good on check in, my real disappointment is in the room’s view. I booked a King Patio that’s supposedly oceanfront. But I have to walk out onto a patio and over a berm to get a view of the haystack rock that I came to see. For the exact same price I could be looking at the rock from my room and the Hallmark down the street. The view from my room requires me to look over a berm to see the ocean and there’s no view of haystack without leaving the room. When I booked it, I asked for an oceanfront room and this is what I end up with. Pretty disappointed for the money spent.

Laura (9/5): Highly recommend to stay on Cannon Beach with excellent amenities and customer service! - The location was perfect! We loved the welcome drink and the nightly bonfire on the beach with a s’more station! It was excellent that they had chairs for the beach available to use and blankets/towels to keep warm. We loved the room, bed was comfortable and the patio was a fantastic extra to elevate the room experience as ours faced a part of the beach. The tub and shower were great! (Would be nice if they offered bath bombs/bath salts) Customer service was superior! We weren’t expecting it to be so chilly and we were able to buy logo beanies at the front desk instead of having to go into town. We didn’t use the complimentary bicycles they had but if we stayed longer we would have. Overall, WONDERFUL stay! Walls are thin so you can hear other guests at times but it was quiet at night on the resort so wasn’t bothersome. I always pack ear plugs so put those in and slept wonderfully.

Our room was on the second floor in the building that’s right on the beach. We had a wonderful view of Haystack rock & 180° view of the beach. It was absolutely beautiful. The bathroom had a huge soaking tub and a great big glass shower!! There was a TV in the bedroom a TV in the bathroom and a TV in the living area. Nice fireplace too. Most importantly we had a wonderful balcony overlooking the ocean. I would highly recommend staying here. Don’t miss the cookies offered around 3:30. They’re absolutely delicious. The staff is very friendly and helpful and attentive! They also have an indoor pool and a Jacuzzi, but we did not use those. Highly recommend!

He also made my stay extra special with extra little amenities and delicious chocolates. I truly felt taken care of throughout my entire stay. The room was spacious and the deep soak tub was so worth it! The view was the best part and the fresh baked cookies everyday at 3:30 were just heavenly. 36damarise (8/5): Views of Haystack rock and great location in Cannon - We chose this hotel for the first two nights of our Oregon coast road trip. Cannon Beach is small with limited options, and this hotel stood out for its beachfront location and stunning views of Haystack Rock. The website promised thoughtful features, which mostly delivered. Our one regret was not booking a third-floor room. Check-in was easy, and the staff were kind and accommodating. The room was a great size for two people, with concrete floors (practical given the rain), an electric fireplace with color settings, a Bluetooth speaker with ambient lighting, a very comfortable bed, and a spacious bathroom with a TV. Storage was well thought out, with hooks for jackets and drawers under the bed. The fridge and coffee machine were a nice touch. Being on the first floor became an issue due to noise from upstairs and a dog left alone barking for long periods. The front desk was fully booked but did their best to help and offered a breakfast voucher at Wayfarer, which we appreciated. Cleanliness could have been better—we noticed dust and a missed hair tie from a previous guest. The lobby cookies and ice cream were a highlight (the cookies were incredible), and the beach s’mores experience was lovely despite a shaky fire setup that my husband ultimately fixed. We didn’t have time to use the pool or gym. Overall, the location is unbeatable, the staff are genuinely kind, and it’s very dog-friendly—but also loud. I’d stay again, but only on the third floor.

hopec706 (10/5): Amazing resort - Literally loved this place . Every single time we found ourself leaving the hotel we would recheck in , and we did that like 5 nights in a row . We didn’t go during peak time and still had a blast and the price for the room was way cheaper but it’s definitely worth the price at other times . The bathroom was perfect , the fire place, and the rooms have apple tv which was great . We had a tesla for our trip and they have charging on site. Nice pool and hot tub. The staff were all very friendly and helpful , all of them . The place is right near haystack rock which i didn’t know when booking so they made that experience even better . Everything was very clean and just overall amazing for our trip. Only downside was during storms and wind the water can push under the door but nothing a towel can’t fix . I mean you’re on the oregon coast? so i don’t think it’s anything worth worrying about.

When we arrived the power was out… Samantha and Zack made sure we had a light, arranged for help with luggage (elevator not working of course) and gave me a bottle of wine for my birthday! We drank wine, had cheese and crackers for dinner ( no restaurants were open) and tried to stay warm until the heat came back on!

Safari67839948567 (4/5): Disappointing Stay Due to Cleanliness and Maintenance Issues - We stayed at Surfsand Resort in Cannon Beach for two nights and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. Check-in was frustrating from the start. We were given four different sets of keys before one finally worked, as the previous sets would not open the door. This caused unnecessary delay and confusion just to access the room. When we finally entered the unit, it was extremely cold. The heater was not on, and the room temperature was 58°F, making it feel refrigerated rather than welcoming—especially given the coastal climate. The most concerning issue was cleanliness. When we pulled back the blanket and laid it out on the bed, the duvet had pubic hair, human hair, mascara marks, and visible blood stains. This was unacceptable and deeply unsettling, particularly for a resort that presents itself as upscale. Additionally, the room layout was poor. The bedroom was essentially a closet with no windows, which felt claustrophobic and misleading compared to expectations set by the resort’s marketing. Overall, this stay fell far below acceptable hospitality standards. Between the key issues, lack of heat, serious cleanliness problems, and the windowless bedroom, I cannot recommend this property based on my experience.
