- H Kevin (10/5): Great room and public areas but some issues - Overall, the stay was wonderful. The room was spacious. the view to the lake and mountains was outstanding. The decorations were fabulous. The food in The View for breakfast and The Cottage for dinner was pretty good, although the buffet breakfast items were cold. Also, I couldn't use the buffet because there are a couple of stairs without a handrail to get from the seating area (I use a cane and need a handrail if I am carrying something.) The big problem was checking in. They have a sign for "registration" that leads to a door that is a floor down from the actual registration desk and on a narrow drive with signs that say, "no parking" and "don't block the drive" both of which people were doing when we arrived. My husband had to go in to discover that we were supposed to take the main drive up to the parking areas. They need to move the sign for registration to the correct location. Nigel in The View and the housekeeper for the third floor in the Terrace were exceptionally friendly. I couldn't take a shower because the safety bar for the tub was located on the left side of the faucet controls, not on the back wall like it usually is. My husband said the tub was slippery.
- Sharon (6/5): - Very very high price for just a run down and old hotel. The location is the only reason to stay. Place has a slightly strong smell of mold… especially by the indoor pool. The restaurant and staff act as if they are the finest place in France…which cracks me up. They could use some help in changing the crazy policy of reservations and needs help to lighting up the atmosphere. Just not that great.

- Shawna (8/5): - The main hotel is a beautiful property perched atop (not directly on) a hill overlooking Mirror Lake in the Lake Placid area. The actual site of Lake Placid is about a 5 min car ride away. Historic property with beautiful, if a bit outdated, lodge-y like decorations in a tasteful manner. Lobby fireplace is a big draw, with multiple seating options. Rooms are spacious with views facing the lake, comfy beds and a nice/large bathroom (ours in room 634 did not have a tub). Disappointed that there was not water or a coffee maker in the room, but otherwise v comfortable. Also, if you want reservations at the highly rated on site property, get them way in advance of your stay.

- Farzad (8/5): - Very nice property; great views of the lake; very nice / friendly staff- except if you ask for a simple/routine late check out (from 11 a.m. to noon due to a scheduled appointment at their own spa that ended at 11 a.m.). The from desk will Not bend, will drag you through the mud, make you check back the next morning to get house keeping approval! I have Never experienced such inflexibility at ANY hotel in my entire life (not to mention at a $600 per night room). They finally got the approval after my insistence at the front desk at 8 a.m., but leaving me feel like I was totally unreasonable. It turned out that there were several rooms on our floor that were vacated early, and they had not even started cleaning them when we checked out at noon!!

Room thermostat was not digital and looked to be from the 80s. Enjoyed our stay but can't justify the the cost of $750 per night all in.

They will catch the next elevator or walk the stairs even if you let them know its ok to share the elevator. Only difficult part was walking the hill to our room after having one too many. - Belinda (8/5): - The resort is in a good location that is within walking distance to all shops along Mirror Lake. Front desk staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Landscaping around the property is beautiful and well kept. I personally did not dine at The View or The Cottage. I have no specific complaints other than the price that I paid for my room. For over $600 /night on average I was expecting more updated rooms and facilities. The room itself was clean and had a beautiful view of Mirror Lake. The bathrooms definitely need some updating. The rooms also were not very soundproofed. We could hear our neighbors talking and whenever their TV was on during the daytime. For the price I paid it would have been nice to have a balcony at least. The pool and hot tub were spacious, but it is really the view from your room that you are paying top dollar for.

- Claudia (6/5): - The property is beautifully located with a wonderful view of the lake. It is walking distance to town and the area feels very safe. The staff was excellent and very attentive. The weather was not the best while we were there but not a reflection of the property. I felt for the price of over $500/night the place was just so so. The rooms and hallways need a full update. They are dark and dingy looking. I was expecting something more upscale which was not the case. The public areas also needed some sprucing. The couch in front of the fireplace is old and the springs were such that we sank into it. Some modernizing is needed. I realize it's a historical hotel but even so, it needs to be updated on a regular basis. The breakfast for $22.00 in my opinion was lacking - no better than what one expects at lodging along Rt 95 going to Florida. It was your basic pre made scrambled eggs, toast, bacon and sausage - nothing at all that stood out. We've been to Europe and the buffet breakfasts are amazing - the Inn would do well to follow their lead. Overall it was an ok facility not worth the money - we were disappointed and would not go back nor recommend it to others.

The sun-room part of the room, the lake view, having sliders open to let in the lake breeze, and the old-time feel of the hotel (while still being up to date on modern comforts) made this my new favorite place! While the weather hasn't been very cooperative (rain in February in the Adirondacks is just wrong), the inn is delightful. Have had terrific meals both at the View and Cottage restaurants on site. Great staff, fantastic location.

- Samantha (10/5): Simply Christmas Magic - The Mirror Lake in was perfect! 5 stars! The inn is like walking into a Christmas Hallmark movie. The ladies at the front desk were so helpful and kind to my children ages 7 and 2. Complimentary cookies were a big hit. We stayed in one of the Oak rooms and the view was like being in a snow globe, magical. The Cottage dinner was excellent and the View breakfast as well. We can’t wait to return next season!

- Melanie (10/5): Winter Wonderland - I spent two nights with my daughter and we enjoyed our stay immensely. We had spa appointments that were wonderful and we used the pool and Jacuzzi as well. Our dinner in The View was fabulous! We walked up and down Main Street and enjoyed the unique shops along the way. All in all, we could not have had a better time. We even had snow to welcome us to winter wonderland.

We could walk to town and Bars, so perfect! Especially with the6 inches of snow that fell! I sat in my chair with our Balcony doors open and a furry soft blanket, watching the Lake and snow fall! Simply Perfect!

We understand the Spa serves the entire community; but for the price of staying a night here- Mirror Lake Inn could open up some availability for in house guests.

- Verified traveler (4/5): - I've been coming to Mirror Lake Inn for 15 years and always loved it - truly a remarkable small resort. However, this trip was not quite what I'd have liked. As we know, the US CDC and New York state dropped the mask mandate for American who are fully vaccinated which we both are. MLI took it upon themselves to decide that was not good enough, and was one of the only locations in town requiring masks to be worn by everyone, and being snapped at if you walk in without one in just .5 seconds. Yes this is the business' choice to do so, but is the disappointment from many of their long term guests worth it? Maybe. It just was not the same feel as I was used to there. The mandates continued only on property. The did not have their typical famous 'tea time' and what did not make much sense to me was that they allowed dine-in at the View restaurant for dinner (albeit reservations only for some reason) but they would not allow dine-in for breakfast. That made zero sense to me. So instead, I ordered room service which is usually serviced beautiful on a rolling cart that they bring into your room. Instead, this time it was a knock on the door, and they handed me a brown bag of my food, like it was a food delivery service. Very disappointing, this stay, and I would *highly* encourage the folks at MLI to reconsider their current ridiculous stance on operations, because from what I've discussed with other guests, I am not the only one who felt this way.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The property was highly sanitized and well mantained. The food was good and the friendliness of the staff very pleasant to say the least. I ended canceling my stay because they have an undisclosed noise policy that I was not told about. You see, while at the indoor pool, I turned on my portable speaker--barely audible-- to listen to some Jazz, then an employee from the Spa insisted on me turning off the speaker because I was disrupting other guests. Truthfully, the resort was nearly empty because of the pandemic and there was none one else at the indoor pool at the time of my incident. I brought my complaint to the manager who to my surprise did little to appease my discontent. I have been in more than 20 different resorts around the world and I would never lay foot at this resort ever again. You do not pay this much money to have someone make you feel unwelcome to say the least. There are more reasonably priced facilities in the vicinity that provide better treatment for their guests. I would try the Golden Arrow, Hampton Inns & Suites, or Crowne Plaza instead. One last thing, I asked the manager what is the policy for children screaming at the pool? The answer was even more atonishing than his response to my complaint, "We would ask their parents to keep their children's noise at a minimum". Really? Your kids?? This place is a joke!!!

- DAVID (8/5): Mirror Lake Inn - Lake Placid, NY. - We enjoyed our stay. A very pleasant atmosphere. Fireplace is a highlight. Room was nice, good view, comfortable beds, good temperature control. (It was around 11 degrees outside). Dinner was very nice and excellent server and staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I’ve visited Mirror Lake Inn Spa several times over the years to utilize the spa but this was my first time staying on the property. We usually stay at Lake Placid Lodge. (We chose to stay at Mirror Lake because you cannot use the spa or any amenities unless you are a guest during Covid) I was pleasantly impressed with the property as a whole but they could tweak a couple things. First should be the mattresses. My back was not happy. The other issues were related to Covid protocol so I’m not going to bother mentioning because everyone is doing the best they can in these times. Although the amenities are IMO the best in the area (spa, pool/jacuzzi restaurants etc) with Covid not everything was convenient or accessible. The property was spotless and I felt safe there. Although it is very comfortable and beautiful Adirondack decor there are some things that are a bit dated like the showers. I personally prefer a walk-in shower they seem less prone to germs. I am not a fan of hotel shower curtains. You cannot beat the location it is so close to everything in town. And I love all the lights outside it is so beautiful at night! Make sure you eat at the Cottage the food is delicious with a laid back pub feel. The night we arrived we ate at the View which I thought was excellent both food and service but I thought it was a little pricey. All in all it was a wonderful stay with the exception of Covid ever present which hopefully will pass very soon. Can’t wait to visit again!
