Guest Reviews
- David R (10/5): - I have stayed at this motel several times in the last several years and have always had a pleasant, quiet and trouble-free time.
Very clean, very quiet, very comfortable.
- Delmon (10/5): - Baked good in office great
- Zachary I (6/5): Good value, some opportunities - Everything was fairly decent quality and clean. There were two issues I might mention. First would be that the walls are fairly thin so if you’re a light sleeper or sleep in then you are likely to be aware of noise from nearby occupied rooms when other patrons are showering etc. For some reason, even though they weren’t likely even half full, they placed us next to other occupied rooms instead of spreading occupied rooms out to mitigate noise pollution. Second, since we were right next to two others occupied room that had long showers being taken early, both our shower and our kitchen sink backed up loudly with both air burps and water overflow into the shower basin. This brought a sewer smell into our room while we were trying to sleep in. Pretty unpleasant! Bottom line though is the service is awesome and the staff is very friendly. Free and fresh home baked goods in the morning were amazing! The rooms are as nice as the pictures.
- Michael (10/5): - Complimentary breakfast. An daily fresh cookies...
- Kenneth (10/5): - A nicely updated older property. Who could resist the afternoon fresh baked coolies?
- makenzy (10/5): - this little place was just the cutest, right in the middle of colville. tiny rooms but they were so cute and so clean and smelt good.
- Marko (8/5): - It's a decent motel
- JAMES (10/5): - The owners and staff were very nice and helpful, The pastries in the morning were amazing.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Very nice room. Home made pastrys!
- Steve (10/5): One of the best Motels in Colville, WA - Owners were very nice, upgraded me to a bigger room for free. Owner used to be a baker, so she had fresh homemade pastries each morning, coffee in your room. Very comfortable bed and everything was just really nice.
- Eric (10/5): - Very Clean and Tidy Place, Owner made some cookies and scones that were the absolute BEST !!
- doug (8/5): - Noisy at 6am, not Motels fault, some machinery near by on a Sunday morning!
Lisa at the desk was great.
Very walkable to dinner and town centre.
- Katie (10/5): - This looks like your basic roadside motel, but it's quite lovely. The owners recently bought the place and the rooms have obviously been redone, and they're very cute and smart. Ours had a little kitchenette--I don't know if all rooms have one--but it was so nice to have! And the best thing about the Selkirk is that the owner bakes for the guests--fresh homemade pastries (along with fruit and yogurt) every morning, and homemade cookies every afternoon! It's a lovely touch and we really enjoyed our stay!
- Donna (10/5): - The fact that it's a throwback to an era without stairs, no one walking on floor above you or running down a hallway outside your room! It has been recently remodeled and looks great! The host use to own a bakery and presents delicious home baked cookies in the evening and sweet breads for breakfast! We will go back!!
One suggestion is a grab bar beside the toilet for us older guests with bad knees.
- John (6/5): - Nice 0wners. Wifi poor, AC barely adequate, not enough parking.
- C.R. Ric (2/5): - The unit has functional problems, electrical, lighting entry to unit, step into unit is illegal, microwave-tv-frig on one receptacle. When coming into unit there is a light switch that doesn't turn on a light, but has a receptacle with it. If anything was plug in, you would trip, given no entry light! Was not worth in any way the price that was charged!!!!
- Ken (6/5): - Old, very small room
- Rachel (10/5): - The best thing about this property was the owner puts out delicious bakery items and other snacks every morning for the gu3sts to enjoy!! Overall great experience here!
- Megan (10/5): - So I grew up in the area, that being said I have seen the Selkirk through many owners and many conditions. This is the best I have ever seen it! The owners were very friendly and the room was clean and has definitely been updated. As a single female I felt safe and comfortable during my entire 3 night stay. They have fresh baked goods in the office daily. I am glad to see this little motel finally see some love and TLC. I will definitely book again.
- andrea (8/5): - I was a little worried when I pulled up being a single woman staying for a couple days. There was no deadbolt on the door and the doors are open to the outside. I could hear people talking, walking by etc. Overall the experience was fine, clean rooms, good enough for me
- Michele (8/5): - The clerk made delicious homemade cookies. So nice to have at check in. Helpful person helped me set up tv.
- Joshua (6/5): Fine - Fine for a motel
- Carol (6/5): Pretty decent overall - Perfectly adequate. It looks like they are making upgrades to this older motel. They quickly responded when I locked myself out of the room. The heating situation is just a wall heater. Bathroom and shower are tiny. Probably no a/c in the summer? They did provide a hair dryer when asked. It was good to see that they provided shampoo and conditioner dispensers. Not all rooms had a deadbolt. I took my electonics with me whenever I left.
- Virginia (10/5): - This was a really cute affordable room. I was grateful i chose this motel over others in the area.
- Jerald R (10/5): - Very help full staff.
- Barbara (6/5): Room needs work. - room needs paint job. Bathroom shower is stained terribly, Needs to be bleached clean, Bathroom walls need new wall material or at least painted. need a light in socket in bathroom. Bed rolls to center. paint heater grill as it looks filthy due to rust on it.
Was very dissapointed with room for the money. No way to contact anyone as it was on a Sunday and no one working,
- Dirk (4/5): - The parking area was too small and half of the parking was on a steep incline. The room was only average for nearly a hundred dollars ($99.55)! There weren't enough plug-ins for phones and such, and the ones that were there were inconveniently located (away from the bed and away from the desk). There were DO NOT DISTURB SIGNS you could place on the doorknobs, but the staff made noise cleaning about 9:30 a.m. and at 9:45 a.m. they acted like they were being polite by knocking on your door and announcing that checkout time was 11:00 a.m.
We had our alarm set for 10:00 a.m. because we got in late. They woke us up! This will be the last and only time we stay at Selkirk Motel!
- Gail (6/5): - I arrived at the motel before my husband, and was unloading the car alone when one of the staff kindly asked if he could help me!! I was touched and impressed!
The hotel was just fine for a quick stay on a bike trip. It’s definitely a budget hotel. Blow dryer upon request, but the staff is only there during the day, and not much toilet paper. The rooms desperately need more lighting. One of the dimmest motel rooms I’ve stayed in.
- Angus (10/5): - Check in was easy and quick. Room was clean and everything worked. Bed was comfortable. Could have used a bit more light.
- TRACI (10/5): - Thank you for your hospitality
- Thomas (8/5): - Room was nice . It was clean and not cluttered. The attendant while being nice seemed a little condescending. Road noise was the biggest issue. And it wasn’t a really big issue.
- Jacqueline (10/5): - The office manager made accessing my room super easy, even though I had to check in late. The room was clean, all appliances worked perfectly and they even had extra blankets. Going hunting, fishing or tubing, give this motel a try!
- Terri (4/5): - 1st room had major issue. Shower dripped constantly, TV didn’t work and door bumped the bed. Little to no mattress to speak of. Front desk person seemed didn’t want to be there. Made that point clear that office was closed at 6 pm and he only got 1 day off Sunday he won’t be found.
He upgraded up at no charge to a regular room from a budget. Bathroom was better and bed had a fuller mattress. Toilet area wasn’t the greatest in either room as it wasn’t meant for larger people.
Never got a receipt for room last night and office wasn’t opened when we left. Dropped key in mailbox this morning.
Just off of downtown Colville so walked to a restaurant last night.
- DON (10/5): - We really enjoyed our trip to Colville and the Selkirk was very clean and the Manager was very pleasant and accommodating. Check in and out was totally painless. The only issues we had were there is no vent fan in the bathroom and the only window to open was right on the street, so option was very minimal, the bathtub drain was very slow and it took FOREVER for the hot water to get hot. But we adapted and overcame, just had to adjust to the situation (lol). Would also have been really nice if there was an ice machine available. The property is an older one, but in very acceptable condition overall. We really appreciated that we could park our trike right in the front of our room, felt very safe and it was really quiet for a great sleep after a long ride. We'll stay again next time we're in the area.
- kenneth (8/5): - Clean and comfortable.
- Jenny (6/5): - There is only someone there between 10-6 so we weren’t able to get help with the a/c as it wasn’t very cool in the room at all. Then we were woken up by construction right outside our door. A warning would have been nice so we weren’t startled.
- Corina (6/5): My visit - The staff was so helpful and kind, the room itself was what you pay for it is very small but the one thing I didn’t care for was the shower. The shower head was so low I towered over it and had to bed down to use it and the water temperature would fluctuate so much to hot and cold.ñ even the sink flow was slow. Everything else as far as functions worked fine like the AC and tv. Bed was nice.
- Denise (10/5): - Loved getting to visit colville on some business! Looked for the most affordable stay and close to the city center. For a budget, can’t go wrong!
- Keith (6/5): Small showrr - Clean but I’m only 6 ft tall and it was tough to take shower. Too small and I’m not fat so not sure what you would about it
- Richard (6/5): - Arrived at 5 and checked in but found out that the office is open only from 10 to 5 and after that everyone goes home. If you have a problem not sure what you are to do. The room was clean and the bedroom area was ok, I think had fairly new coat of paint. The bathroom while clean needs some care as paint pealing and shower dripped constantly and I could not get it to stop.
- Jim (2/5): - I will never us Expedia again
Internet not working
Office closed at 6 PM
No phone in the room
No ice available
Noisy road traffic
Expensive
Expedia should be ashamed to have a motel like this in their system
- Colin (6/5): - Clean small room (single queen room)but very basic. Toilet area very cramped with some very rough tile corners on exterior of adjacent shower enclosure. Not any hanging space for clothes.
- Timothy (2/5): - Tv wouldnt work and staff had no idea how to fix it and said its a on going problem they cant figure out- Extension cords running every where - for the extra $25 go to another hotel!! I have Buyers Remorse to put it nicely!!
- Nokeo (4/5): - There is no daily service, even though the website says it is. The air-conditioning is not cool at all for room # 12. The WiFi is not usable (always get connection error).
- Beau (8/5): - Customer service was great! I received a call about 30 minutes after booking from the staff to ask what time I would be arriving. I was arriving late in the evening so the employee texted me the information I needed to get into the room. I wa only there for one night and suited me just fine.
- Lavada (10/5): - Comfortable
- rainier (10/5): - This place is a historical building and I like historical buildings and their quirks. The walls are cinder blocks and they transfer noise fairly easy so if you are a light sleeper keep that in mind. I appreciated having a clean room, fridge, microwave, desk and especially Netfilx. Each room has its own parking space which is nice. The staff was Super Super friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel could use upgrades. Hot water was barely a trickle meaning no shower for us. Staff was extremely accommodating though.
- Nolan (8/5): - Basic room. Only problem was the sheets on the bed kept curling up so we were sleeping on a plastic mattress pad. Good shower. Nice to have the fridge, microwave and coffee maker with pods. TV good, but internet bad.
- andrew (8/5): - Nicely updated
- Bev (10/5): - Great price and very clean!
- Jerald (6/5): - Na.
- David (10/5): - Great friendly staff, always courteous and able to get things you might need excellent people
- Brian (10/5): - The room I had was newly remodeled and really comfortable and clean. It was a perfect place for a night on a road trip. Would stay again.
- Gary (2/5): - Nothing comfortable about this place
- Yung (8/5): - We like the friendly services. The toilet stall and sink need to be updated. We had a nice and quiet stay at this motel.
Thank you!
- Bruce (6/5): - It’s a 2* motel which I knew in advance, so no issue with that.
Plus : Walking distance to good dining.
Negative: Cheap, uncomfortable mattress
- Elizabeth (4/5): Disappointed - Very disappointed in choosing this place to stay. I guess cheap means cheap.
- Robert (6/5): - Great location in the heart of downtown. The rooms have been renovated but the cleaning was not up to par, my tub had grit on the top edge and didn’t drain well. With some regular maintenance it would be much better.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Coulda been much better - I was depending on having Wifi. It sorta worked occasionally for about 5 minutes at a time.
The kitchenette seemed like a good feature until I tried to cook something. There wasn't any kind of a pan that I could boil water in.
The only surface to put a dish on to eat was my lap. Seems like they could have easily provided just one TV tray - nope nothing like that or even a small coffee table
- Jodi (6/5): - I was disappointed with the level of cleanliness in the room as well as the outside of the property. The noise level was disturbing from both the neighboring room and the alley behind our window .
- Sean (8/5): - Close to the fairgrounds, where our Granddaughter was barrel racing.
- Ian (10/5): - Comfy warm renovated room right next to downtown
- Jeremy (4/5): In a pinch maybe. - Small room, thin mismatched towels, was supposed to be a queen bed, more like an 30 year old double. One little heater, if you opened the door, it took an hour to get to a reasonable temperature. The bathroom was incredibly small and awkward! Brick walls to top it all off! I’m serious when I say, that I believe prisoners have much better accommodations!!
- Douglas (2/5): - We were told that the room was to hold 3 people and it was only big enough for 2 people. We also were told that we had a kitchenette and there was only a microwave and a fridge. The walls were paper thin and the shower did not drain. There was only 2 pillows on the bed. Will not stay at this place ever again.
- Glen (10/5): great hotel, nicer than it looks - inside so very nice
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I have stayed at the Selkirk a few times. Quick check-in, friendly staff, very clean room, comfortable bed(s).
- Kevin (10/5): - Great location and friendly staff!
- Philip (8/5): - What was unique was access to downtown and car right outside the door. What I did not like was the rain cloud showerhead fixture at my armpit level as I am 6'3" and had to scrunch under it to shower.
- gina (2/5): - This location provides all the basic necessities for travelers; however, the cleanliness is very bad. My room had shavings of hairs in the sink from the previous traveler, also the towels and bedding had hair. The plumbing is very bad. The shower drain kept backing up and you could smell remnants from the sewer. I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it.
- Jan (8/5): - Room was clean when we arrived. Towels were missing but person who checked us in was very accommodating and brought us towels. Second day room was provided with clean towels and coffee pods. Third day our room was not serviced at all.
- Charles (8/5): - Room was nice. Not sure if it was the laundry or cleaning supplies, but a little heavy on the perfume smell for me. Seemed very clean. No ice machine on premises. Would have been nice to have.
- william (6/5): - The style of the room was very pleasing but I asked for a room for four people and there was one bed and a pull out couch bed. Also they didn’t provide a wifi password and there was no one to contact about it.
- Kevin (10/5): Sellkirk Rocks! - Best accommodation experience of my several day trip!
- Elizabeth (8/5): Small town motel feel - Small town motel right on main street and easy walk to downtown. Humble exterior but nice upgrades interior. Friendly staff. Only complaint was dirty floor.
- Bryan (6/5): - Musty smell, dirty floor
- David R (10/5): - Have stayed here several times. The rooms have nice remodeling. Nice beds, towels, shower.
Nothing to complain about except the increase in price, but I can't blame that on the people who own the establishment.
- Richard (6/5): - Managers were nice but for the cost, there should've been more typical motel/hotel items (phones, ice machine, basic cable). The look of the room was pretty decent though.
- Diana (10/5): My new favorite motel! - WOW!! What a pleasant surprise! Freshly renovate room that was comfortable and PERFECTLY clean at a great price. My new favorite motel! I will be back!
- Pat (10/5): Good value - Just what you needed after a long road trip!
- Mary (10/5): - My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Selkirk. Built in 1952, the outside definitely has the look and feel of a classic motel of the era. That being said, our room was modern and very clean. Very comfortable bed. Bathroom was spotless. We didn't use the kitchenette but I love that we had the option! I would definitely stay there again and hope to be back in that area someday.....
- Curt (2/5): - Although I was left a phone message to contact it was not received until after the weekend. We arrived just before 10 in the evening Friday, the place was shut with no answer or alternate contact details for reception. I had to go and find an alternative hotel to stay for the night so I paid for two hotels on the same night, a great cost saver!! Needless to say I will not be recommending this “ Lowtel” to anyone, and I would avoid again at all costs!
- Laura (10/5): Nice staff & comfortable rooms - Very friendly staff ! Hotel is a bit dated on the outside but rooms are big and comfortable.
- Svetlana (2/5): - the staff was very kind and welcoming. but the room it's self was in poor condition and very old. there was a leakage in the bathroom along with the towel provided being unclean.
- Craig (10/5): - Excellent for the price, very clean!
- Samuel (8/5): - I typically don’t stay in motels for work, but was fortunate to find a room here. My usual go-to hotel is a Hampton Inn or equivalent. Staff was very nice. Room was clean and properly equipped. It was a small room, but it was not a problem. I’d happily stay here again.
- sheryl (6/5): - to old needs updated step getting into room unsafe to high for older people !!!!
- david (10/5): - staff is very kind and helpful... the rooms are always clean and stocked.. adequate smoking areas as i am all for non smoking rooms even though i smoke.. as i do frequent and have small dog which in many states is a service animal my paperwork states i need a dog but it doesnt say the dog is service animal.. the 15.00 a night pet fee could be negotiable especially multi night stays.
- Nicholas L (8/5): - It was located in downtown. Other then the cigarette buts laying all over in the parking lot i would stay there again.
- Phillip (8/5): - The hotel was closed on Thursday 11/25. The owner said Expedia should have never allowed me to make that reservation, checking in on Thanksgiving while they were closed. Staff was very helpful with billing Friday 11/26.
- William (8/5): - central location, but easy to zip by as areea is a bit built up/cogested. liked lights by bed and heating! mini fridge loud.
- mack (10/5): - Very nice staff and nice rooms
- Aaron (4/5): - Bathroom in poor condition, was unsure about using the shower, wall boards flaking and cracked. garbage cans very small. light fixture on a retired refrigerator non working. floor had markings from previous use. Parking bad, very little room for vehicle manuvering.
- Jonathan (6/5): Just ok - The renovation job while looking OK could have been better with little effort
- Debra (10/5): - The place is adorable ! The owners have done an excellent job on the rehab of the place ,with a cozy retro / boho vibe. Very clean and quiet. We were very happy with the place and the price was an added bonus.
- John (8/5): - We were there in early October 2021 and stayed in a room with one queen bed. There was a bistro table with two chairs and an extra chair which was nice to have places to sit. Some motels do not provide that. The bathroom is rather small. It is adjacent to a downtown street so the area is somewhat noisy and is not scenic. The room did appear to be clean which, of course, is very important.
- Scott (8/5): - Convenient location in the heart of Colville.
- Vonnie (8/5): - Na
- PAUL (6/5): Old facility but good. - Old facility, but good. Inadequate lighting. Toilet good for very small girls.
- Regina (8/5): - An older facility with excellent refurbishment that shows the owners care about it.
A little small but very practical.
We had a full kitchen and very comfortable bed!
Would stay there again!
Courteous and helpful staff.
