Guest Reviews
- PJ (5/5): - Priced decent Food was terrible and expensive
- B (2/5): Very disappointed with our stay. Only thing that was decent was the lake view. - The view of the lake was decent. Food was way overly priced a small salad cost $17. Shower water did not get hot was like taking a shower with pool temperature water. Said they no longer have continental breakfast bowl of cereal and milk was $6 two eggs they wanted $9
- Allison (8/5): - Lake view
Staff
Main lodge area is beautiful Room furniture was not very comfortable
- Cathy (9/5): -
- Sharon (10/5): very relaxing!! - the breakfast was great, the view is spectacular, food in lodge restaurant was excellent
- MICHAEL (9/5): -
- Dawn (9/5): - Lobby with huge fireplace! Great location.
- Bruce (10/5): - Great time
- Mark (10/5): Fantastic - Spectacular scenery and property right on Lake Superior. Good amenities and polite staff. Perhaps slightly overpriced. Regardless, I would stay there again.
- Noah (6/5): - Not a very good value for the price. My wife and I did not sleep well due to noisy portable AC unit and overly used mattress (we both sunk into a valley). The breakfast selection was a bit eclectic with pretty much only Scandinavian offerings. Food at the restaurant was good and the lodge and restaurant staff were very good. The amenities (games, puzzles, brochures, etc.) were very nice and the lobby/sitting area was nice with a great wood burning fireplace.
- Stephen (10/5): - Our room was immaculately clean, roomy, and with a balcony overlooking Lake Superior. I prefer a hot breakfast to their Scandanavian buffet, but the buffet is well done. The staff was friendly and helpful. I enthusiastically recommend this lodge.
- Sally (10/5): - Excellent service from staff
- Vincent Li-Cheng (8/5): -
- Natalie (10/5): - Great facilities and location. Really thoughtful touches throughout from the craft corner to the smores! Definitely will stay again. Really lovely staff and accommodation
- Trisha (10/5): - Beautiful lodge on Lake Superior with easy access to many different hiking trails. Our room had a balcony with wonderful view of the lake. Only critique is that I wish they would improve their continental breakfast.
- Karen (8/5): - Family friendly with access to Lake Superior, location along Lake Superior’s North shore and really good food makes it worth return visits.
- Janet (7/5): - The view Reservations for the connected restaurant would have been nice to know about. We found out when we came to be seated for supper. Had to wait a hour or so before we could be seated
- Jack (10/5): - Well appointed Lodge in a spectacular Lake Superior setting. Comfortable rooms with all the amenities.
- Andrea (10/5): - Great place to stay. Friendly staff and clean. Restaurant was delicious.
- Nadine (10/5): -
- Nancy (8/5): - We loved our dinner and the beautiful hike to the point.
The room was small and we had issues with the phone, coffee maker, and TV. The staff helped us pretty quickly.
The breakfast was confusing the 1st morning... finding everything that was offered.
- John (6/5): - Very disappointed. The place is very outdated. Was hoping for more seeing other reviews, but nope. Would search for better next time.
- Wickman (9/5): -
- Amanda (10/5): - We enjoyed the kid friendly activities: pool, smores, art area. Location was great to explore north shore. Looking forward to visiting again.
- Deepali (8/5): -
- Alex (10/5): - wonderful place
- Magnone (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (9/5): Superb -
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful setting Mold in the shower
- Mary (8/5): Great view of the shore but uncomfortable room - We booked this room for location. As was the case with everyone else, we had a view of the cove. We also had a great view of the cove from our breakfast table. My husband enjoyed the unusual breakfast. I enjoyed walking down to the water. The room was extremely small with no desk or extra chair. It was difficult to write my travelogue in the evening. The bed was too small for 2 tall people. We would have upgraded to a king but that would have added $50 more to our $327 room, paid for in advance. It was our most expensive lodging on our 10 day road trip through Minnesota, mostly the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and North Shore Drive. As a retired 77-year-old grade teacher with an 880 year-old husband, I was expecting more creature comforts on one our last nights on our last state to visit.
- Amy (10/5): - Nice place gorgeous property. Super quiet and relaxing.
Pool area could use lounge chairs.
- Diane (10/5): Great get away to relax by Lake Superior and excellent food. - Away from everything else. It was all wonderful
- Kristen (7/5): It’s a lovely place to stay and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would just skip eating in the attached dining - Lovely location and very comfortable room. Restaurant was expensive and food was very salty. Meal wasn’t worth the price.
- Ruth (8/5): A very enjoyable stay in a beautiful setting - great for exploring the North Shore. Staff were helpful. Rooms comfortabl - Location, staff and evening meal. Breakfast
- Shailesh (8/5): - Overall a great stay. We stayed at the lodge on the 3rd floor. Good sized room, amazing view of the lake from the balcony. Breakfast spread was very good. Friendly service in the bar area. Definitely recommend staying here.
- Tim (8/5): Very good -
- Kate (10/5): - Beautiful view from the room bed was so comfortable bathroom was very clean. Hot tub and sauna were very nice! Hotel staff were great didn’t make us feel rushed, felt so welcomed.
- Joanne (10/5): - Everything is great! The staff is so helpful and friendly, the room is comfy, and the food is excellent, too!
- Kirk (8/5): Great spot a bit expensive for what we experienced - Location and view The breakfast was for a niche audience.
- Karin (10/5): Exceeded expectation by far! - Great room with breathtaking view over Lake Superior. Micro, mini fridge w freezer, Keurig on room. Comfy sitting area in room. Large TV in room. All amenities needed in bath room. Fantastic sitting areas outside on shoreline. Free painting and drawing materials for kids. S’more bar. Hot drinks and coffee in lobby. Large hot tub and heated pool w view of lake. Sauna. Cozy fireplace and sitting area w lake view, same w dining area. Food was excellent! Tons of puzzles, board games and books. Afternoon h’ors d’oevres and wine. Staff were great! Close to skiing in Lutsen, Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock, Palisades, Tofte and Two Harbors. Absolutely LOVED that there was no TV in communal lobby and bar ruining the experience. If you want a loud, generic hotel experience, go somewhere else. This is an ultimate being-in-nature, wooden-beam high-ceiling lodge!
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Virginia (8/5): Very good -
- Pam and Mark (10/5): - A quiet little hideaway on the North Shore, they have broad games and movies you can use
- Sally (10/5): - This property walks straight out of your north woods dreams and onto the glorious shores of Lake Superior! Staff are exceptionally friendly, the rooms are beautiful, and the property offers excellent opportunities for adventure!
- Glenn (10/5): Lovely property;cozy; great food; hospitality with games and treats is nice touch. Will come again. - After I booked.
C I think there were better prices for our stay online. I wondered if I got the best price.? Bathroom could be updated. Dusty vanity light fixture. Furniture in room was tired.
- Vera (10/5): - Beautiful setting in the woods, very clean, friendly staff
- Mandy (10/5): - Beautiful gem on Minnesota’s north shore that’s close to many regional points of interest, yet secluded and romantic. Time slows down here, in a very good way. Staff friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back, hopefully for a longer stay!
- Arthur (10/5): Terrific ambiance and views. Great for families to - Such a great place!. Wish we could stay longer. Particularly great for families I think. Terrific food and service. “Santa” Herb at front desk helped us print a document we needed! Pretty views and nice rooms.
- Tammy (10/5): - Would,LOVE to see recycling. Especially cans and bottles !!!!
Was interesting ?maybeBit concerning ? The side entry door was never locked or coded.
Bed average comfort. Would have loved an extra blanket.
- Brian (6/5): Two things that failed - The parking lot was filled with mud. They need to install concrete curbs to stop it. My dog's feet got filthy and I had to clean them after going outside. Also, I had to take my 5 year old daughter through the men's bathroom to get to the pool?? Other than that is was a nice place. Fix those 2 things and I would give you a 5 star.
- Greg (9/5): Beautiful resort, Quiet, comfortable rooms - Beautiful resort. Quiet, comfortable rooms. Will definately be back. wish the weather was a little warmer. :)
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - My wife and I had one night to get away on our anniversary. It was a beautiful drive up the north shore. When we arrived, we learned the pool and hot tub were down due to maintenance. This was upsetting as the plan for our getaway was to hot tub, swim, and sauna the evening away after our hike. When we voiced our annoyance, the staff jumped in right away to make it right. They upgraded our room to a jacuzzi suite. They also made reservations for us for dinner. They were very helpful in making sure our anniversary was one to remember. Thank you cove point!!
- Matthew (10/5): Great place will definitely be back many times. - Breakfast was terrific, even had cheese and salami for a little bite while hiking. Nice amenities, the trails, fire pit and little hang out building.
- Samantha (10/5): will be back again - beautiful place later time for pool for adults
- Joleen (8/5): - The stay awesome! The.view was amazing and so was the service! The only bad thing that happened was the fireplace malfunctioned and the smoke alarms were going off and the hotel was really smoky!
- Mark (9/5): Lovely place right on Lake Superior, we greatly enjoyed our stay. - Right on Lake Superior, clean and homey. Loved fireplace area, restaurant and whirlpool.
- Victor (10/5): - We loved it! One suggestion. The shower was pretty slippery. Rubber mats would improve the situation.
- Richard (8/5): A good comfortable location on Lake Superior. - Breakfast was okay for a couple of days but not enough variety for longer stays. Location is very good as was the view from the room. The bar could have opened before around 5pm.
- Robert (8/5): - It is right on the lake and isnt overcrowded with people like other resorts.
- Catherine (10/5): Excellent! - Being so close to the lake. Hearing the lapping of the water from our room.
- Terry (10/5): We’ll be back! - This was the perfect place for our purposes. We consider ourselves to be Northshore experts and had no desire to hike or see waterfalls. We’ve seen most of them over the years and have hiked many of the trails. We just wanted a place where we could crash after a stressful school year. We loved our room-50 feet from the lake complete with balcony and a fireplace. We barely left our room - just to get malts at the Big Dipper in Beaver Bay- the best!
we loved the Scandinavian breakfast bar and the kind lady who satisfied my need for GF bread. This may be our new favorite place to stay! Unfortunately, neither of us slept really well on the king mattress in our room- disappointing.
- Dian (9/5): Superb - It was a beautiful location, close to alot of wonderful parks to visit.
- Megan (10/5): beautiful views, relaxing, loved it 🥰 - the design was beautiful and the lake view from our bedroom was just the best thing to wake up to each morning 💕💕💕 the breakfast could have been more traditional like waffle bar and eggs and meat more then Scandinavian but there were still options I could enjoy so it was ok
- Julie (8/5): Great place. - The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed staying in the cottage when our room in the lodge wasn't cleaned and missed the convenience of easy access to the pool from the lodge.
- Laurie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- grant (10/5): - Friendly staff, good food. Liked having the tea and coffe area.
- Angela (2/5): Worst bed ever - Location to the state parks along the north share. The mattress was like sleeping in a hammock. My back and neck hurt so badly in the morning. I asked to move rooms, and the staff said that all their beds are "soft." For almost $300 a night, I would expect a bed to be comfortable enough to not cause pain by morning. They did send staff to flip the mattress, but a hammock is a hammock no matter how you swing it.
- Jessica (8/5): - The building definitely needs some updating. Hallways very dark. Considering this stay was during the week and placed in the off season, the price per night was outrageous.
- Masayoshi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dianna (10/5): Mother-Daughter getaway - Took my daughter for a mother daughter get-away weekend. It was absolutely wonderful. The weather was cold, but it's Minneasota and January so we were expecting it. The pool, sauna and hot tub were all perfect for relaxing after a walk along the icy shores.
- james (8/5): - We like that it was right on the lake. We loved the sound of the waves crashing in onto shore. The fireplace area was relaxing.
- Carl (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - trails on site the sofa bed mattress was saggy No support
- Elihu (10/5): - Herb at the front desk was great. Swedish meats balls was delicious.
- Cheryl (10/5): Relaxing and beautiful - Very relaxed vibe, comfortable bed, nice linens, really yummy cookies available all day in the lobby. The view of the lake is everything and the rooms and dining area deliver. So quiet in December, we could hear the waves all night. Staff all seem to love working there, even the maintenance and housekeeping staff all smiles. Big plus, free electric car charging onsite! Their breakfast to go system is fun and has some adventurous options - pickled herring! But like all Covid-era dining, so much unrecycled waste. Recycling is always a challenge on the North Shore anyway. This place has the perfect blend of rustic and luxury. My husband and I have vowed to make a Cove Point winter getaway an annual tradition.
- Daniel (10/5): Beautiful Spot with a Pleasant Staff - Just very nice! Beautiful location and the staff was very, very pleasant!! Only minor negative is slightly thin walls if you "neighbor" is listening to their TV loud.
- Dave (10/5): - Must come stay. We have stayed in the main lodge twice and in one of the condos once. We will be back again. Wide open views are the obvious draw. (There are no bad views) The staff is like going to a relative's house that you LIKE! They make you feel welcome right off the bat. And make you want to come back even before you leave.
Grounds are beautiful. Walking paths. Waterfall on the property. Hot tub hot. Sauna even hotter. Pool perfect temperature. Very relaxing after a day on the trails. TONS of pool towels.(small detail)
Mickey's Fish House is a must. Winter or Summer. Has a deck overlooking the cove. Winter has a wood stove and multiuser room with a wood stove the staff will light for you. Warm and cozy for games or gathering around the stove.
If you have a fireplace they will keep you stocked with wood. Plenty of parking for family gatherings if you are in the condos. Wide parking spots in main lodge area.
Restaurant pulls off some incredible meals. Surf and turf for supper with WARM dinner rolls. Creme Brulee by the fireplace after dinner.
Sounds too good to be true but as a seasoned business traveler and finally taking a few days for us....this was an awesome experience.
Nuff said
- Gerick (10/5): - Sleeping to the sounds of crashing waves made the trip. Rain on vacation can be a bummer, but on the north shore, with these views, warm fireplace, and friendly staff, you can be sure to have a perfect trip no matter what the conditions are outside at Cove Point.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Away from the highway and close to the shore so all you hear is the lake. :)
- John (8/5): Clean and comfortable room, nice location - The property was located in a very convenient area close to State Parks and waterfalls. Lots to do in the vicinity. The room was very clean and comfortable with a nice view overlooking Lake Superior from the patio. The food in the restaurant and the service was also great. We would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great get away. Very relaxing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We will be back
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely lodge, and the staff are so kind and helpful! Many thanks for the beautiful and peaceful stay! The rooms showed some wear, and the cleanliness of the tub was a bit wanting - but otherwise, I was so pleased with their service and helpful information about the area. Really a peaceful stay!
- Amanda (10/5): - Cove Point has always been a favorite of mine.
The views of the lake, wonderful staff, and lobby fire make for a great getaway.
- P.J. (10/5): - A beautiful location with all rooms overlooking Lake Superior. I felt safe-social distancing and masks where required and used by all. The food at the restaurant in the lodge was excellent. The food for lunch at the pizza and burger place was also excellent.
- Jason (10/5): - Great location. Centrally located to all the state parks. Nice and peaceful great place to go and unwind.
- Sean (10/5): Recommended for everyone - Beautiful location and the perfect place to stay
- GabbyK (10/5): - The pictures don’t do this place justice. This property has amazing views of the water. The lodge is located on a peaceful spot away from everything but the water.
- Maitee (8/5): Nice place - The hotel grounds are wonderful. They have a lot of different places you can sit and enjoy the outdoors. Beware of the biting flies though! Our bug spray did not deter them but that's not the lodge's fault. The rooms were nice but the hallways were out dated and just didn't look very nice. It just took away from the overall first impression. The staff was very nice.
- Lisa (10/5): - Gorgeous property. Beautiful rooms. Friendly, knowledgeable staff.
- Christine (10/5): Thumbs up! - Thid was my first stay at Cove Point Lodge. They have social distancing down very well, and procedures put in place to ensure guest safety and comfort.
- Karen (10/5): Awesome - The stay was great. Lots of things to do or do nothing at all.
- Jenni (10/5): - Loved it there. The lodge is beautiful and very clean. The grounds are kept up very nicely. The room we had was very clean and the staff is knowledgeable, they make you feel welcomed.
- Jamie (10/5): Awesome Stay! - Awesome stay! Nice pool and hot tub, outstanding restaurant food, beautiful scenery with a really cool nature hike to the end of Cove Point! Highly recommend this place!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cove Point - The room was small and too much furniture. Thought all rooms had balconies but was disappointed by that feature. Would probably not stay there again. The property was clean and quiet.
- Veronica (8/5): - The hotel is set right on the water and there are trails to take you out to a cliff & large rock right down to the water. Very beautiful settings.
I understand things are more constricted due to the coronavirus but not placing clean down comforters on the bed was a huge No No for me. Everyone was wearing masks, we had to pick up our breakfast downstairs in bags So you would think they would take more care in cleaning the rooms for their guests. I argued with my boyfriend to not leave a tip as well. I personally don’t think they deserved it. I’ve been in much cheaper hotels that were way cleaner!
- David (10/5): Wow!!! - Awesome lodge! Beautiful lakefront grounds. Everything from the room to the cozy fish house and beach with a fire ring and s’more kits added up to a relaxing memorable experience! We are hoping to make this an annual retreat!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - All the staff we interacted with was amazing. Their responsiveness and actions demonstrated a "customer care" attitude. All very friendly! Shelly at the front desk was a great help for places to snowshoe and directions. Our room was very clean. The lobby area is great; love that they have a fire going in the fireplace morning to late night.
- Karen (10/5): - The stay was great room clean service was good awesome place to stay. I will be back.
