Guest Reviews
- Lynsey (10/5): - Staff was super nice and helpful. Also, the little dog on the property is adorable and sweet.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Room was very clean. Breakfast was fantastic. I was a little nervous when I pulled in and saw that rooms opened to the outside, not to an internal hallway, but it was perfectly fine. Good area. Not in the middle of nowhere, but far enough away from most other things to be quiet and safe. My friend and I (both women) stayed here and really enjoyed ourselves.
- bikerjff (10/5): A true gem! - We visited the Kirkwood for our second time as part of a bicycling trip along the Little Miami Trail. Once again, the place proved to be a delight. It is a non-chain motel run by extremely friendly and accommodating people. Besides its proximity to bike trails it is also convenient to the Kings Island area attractions and a great variety of restaurants less than 10 minutes away. The breakfast is a very nice buffet with a wide choice of hot and cold items including fruit and pastries. Both the guest rooms and the historic breakfast house are filled with wonderful wood furnishings, everything is clean and well maintained, and the place was very quiet. Everyone in our group felt they slept as well here or better than at home! Last but not least, if the weather is OK and you want to spend some time out of the room, you can find beauty and tranquility in the expansive gardens on the property where there are places to sit and chat, or just think. This is a true gem for this part of Ohio .
- Shannon (10/5): - This property is an old facility but is maintained very well. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. It is a quaint motel. Was a step back in time that I can appreciate. Room still had actual keys to the doors. The front desk was still operating with hand written details rather than technology. We would stay again.
- Tony (10/5): Great 3 night stay - Very healthy breakfast buffet. Served up in a home from 1799.
- Michael (8/5): - Pleasant and quiet, if a little old-fashioned. Swimming pool was not in service.
- James (10/5): - Older but clean…the staff was excellent! Very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast made it even better. This is not your standard free hotel breakfast. Eggs, Sausage, biscuits and gravy, etc. is was more like a Bed and Breakfast! Close to Kings Island. This is where we will stay every time we come to Kings Island!
- patricia a (6/5): Not like it used to be - We have stayed there before a few years ago and feel it was a little more rundown,The room was fine and clean. The office people were friendly, but there were some older ladies hanging out with a dog. Looked as if they hung out there a lot because there was dog food, and things all over the lounge area. The dog was also there at checkout. The smell was very strong. Breakfast was canceled due to the lightning, strike on a transformer, which was disappointing since we loved the breakfast and that’s why we booked there again. Not their fault at all, but there were no apologies or suggestions. The people in the room next-door we’re looking to see if they could just get a piece of fruit or something and were not accommodated
- Alice (10/5): Fall trip - This is a older inn was very nice well taken care of
Staff was very nice to work with
- Verified traveler (10/5): Family trip to Kings Island - We really enjoyed our stay at the Kirkwood Inn. They take good care of you. It was easy access to Kings Island and the Mason Whippy Dip (fantastic Dole whip flavors for our dairy free daughter).
- Natalie (10/5): - This place was a jewel. We came down for a quick Labor Day weekend trip. The staff and owner are amazing. It was a quaint, traditional motel with exceptionally clean rooms. Tour our surprise in the morning breakfast was held in a historical house towards the back of the property with a quaint kitchen and dining room. We loved it here.
- Chris (10/5): - Love this little hidden Jim took my wife here on our honeymoon our five year anniversary and we just celebrated our 15
- Donald (10/5): Highly recommend - One of my favorite places to travel for business, amazing breakfast
- Nicholas (10/5): - Kirkwood Inn is a hidden gem. With a amazing breakfast handmade by the staff also a pleasant trail in a garden highly recommend the stay.
- Deborah (10/5): - Sandy was a great host. Debbie Pavlica
- dee (6/5): Hotel has gone down hill :+( - This is our 3rd time staying here. Breakfast was great! Garden was very pretty! Pool was gross and it’s not even labor day yet. Sheets were starched or stiff- not soft at all! Location is nice cuz you’re close to outlet mall, flea markets, casino and kings island. I paid for hotel using this app and when we checked in, they were going to charge us again!
- Bryan (10/5): - Loved the Kirkwood Inn! Staff very helpful and friendly. Room and beds very clean and comfortable. Morning breakfast was outstanding and delicious. Nice selection of pastries, fruit and the hot breakfast consisted of eggs, sausage, pancakes. Coffee, juice etc. was available too. Located in Mason it was easy to get to Kings Island as well as Lebanon and the Golden Lamb. Great stay for the money!!!
- Sharon (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was top notch and the cook was very friendly and made she we had what we needed. Highly recommend!
- Tom (10/5): - Great breakfast!
- Carol (10/5): A Pleasant Surprise! - The Kirkwood Inn is very deceiving from the outside. It is an older Motel and somewhat dated. However, it was easily one of the cleanest Hotel/Motel/Inns we have stayed at. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff couldn't have been nicer and the breakfast was excellent!! We left feeling that everyone there really cared and made sure we enjoyed our stay. We were in town for the Cincinnati Tennis Open and hope to return!
- Kristan (10/5): - We stayed here for the Cincinnati open and though it's a little bit of an older hotel, it was extremely clean and quaint. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic and everyone was so nice. It's much better than your commercial hotels because they have an outside gazebo and tables to sit outside, surrounded with a fireplace and trees. Would definitely recommend.
- Sarah (10/5): - Perfect for a family weekend trip to King’s Island. Clean, comfortable and close drive to the park. Also, convenient to the tennis tournament that was going on. Sweet family owned business. Great breakfast and pretty gardens.
- Nitin (10/5): - Perfect stay, close to kings island. Wonderful breakfast.
- Greg (4/5): More Research before booking what seemed was a nice motel - The Staff was friendly Requested 3 rooms together three times even called them. Had Two rooms together and One on the other end of the motel. First room the ac and refrigerator didn’t work. They move us to a room farther away from the other two rooms. When I booked looked like a single story but was a two story and all the rooms had outside doors. No Elevator. We’re 65 and going up the stares was a bad for us.
- Ryan (10/5): - Nice pool, excellent breakfast, nice walk through the garden, staff was extremely friendly, can't wait to stay again!
- Jerrold (10/5): - We booked this hotel at the last minute for a lacrosse tournament and were very pleased. The staff was very courteous and helpful, the rooms were very clean and spacious, and the breakfast was the best we’ve had in a hotel. We will definitely be back.
- D (8/5): Very nice. - Rooms are older, but very clean and comfortable. Service was great. Breakfast was very good. Grounds are very pretty.
- Maria (6/5): - Super clean, which always helps me sleep and get rest. Pool was too cold to swim in and small in size. Walking path, is nice, but not any type of distance. The outside fireplace was nice looking and very quiet and calming to sit and have a minute. The breakfast was very good! Very quaint and pleasant place. A little pricey but super clean!
- Stephen (10/5): - It was very easy to drive right up to the door of our room. He was well kept and clean. Some might consider old-fashioned, but I found it charming and peaceful. The only thing I had a problem was the low toilet seat.
- Lisa (6/5): - Needs updating. Room appeared clean but is so dated that it was not a comfortable space to want to hang out in. Was definitely not worth what we paid. The breakfast ladies were so inviting and friendly!
- Barbara (10/5): - Very cozy inn with an outstanding breakfast.
- Doyle (10/5): - It’s ageless
- Carmen (10/5): - What a cute little place! Kind of an old school motel with the sweetest and friendliest staff! The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great! Would definitely stay here again!
- Charlotte (10/5): - The staff weee so friendly! The gardens were beautiful, and the breakfast was excellent. Very relaxing setting away from the crowds!
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (9/5): Experience a delightful small hotel near many adventures. - Lovely family-run establishment. The gardens are a delight to explore. The breakfast was also a treat in beautiful surroundings. No elevator. Be sure to request a first floor room if you have mobility issues. The pool was also closed.
- Mike (6/5): - Its a dated property with small rooms. No ADA rooms that I could see. Staff were friendly. Room AC sounds like a jet engine; however, it did keep the room cool. Bathroom fan comes on when you turn on the light and it is LOUD. While probably try it again after learning some tips this time around.
- Peter (10/5): - Enjoyed the homestyle breakfast. Beautiful grounds!!
Friendly and helpful staff throughout. Queen room was a bit small. Older bathroom was functional but lacked any grab bars and an ADA height toilet. Housekeepers did a great job everyday.
- Kari (10/5): - This is a cute mom and pop close to King's Island. VERY clean, comfy and a WONDERFUL breakfast! Everyone is so friendly. One of the best sleeps I've had in a hotel room. Would definitely book again!
- Adventure517205 (10/5): Relaxing - Quiet and clean rooms. Pool was nice plenty of chairs for sun and tables with umbrella. The owner and staff are beyond accommodating and pleasant. Breakfast buffet was delicious. Gardens are beautiful! The historic home was breakfast was served is beautiful!
- Kao (8/5): - Nothing fancy about this hotel, but clean and friendly staff. Very good breakfast.
- Oscar (10/5): - we loved the old house and the garden. nice and friendly owner
- U4190TBscotte (2/5): Horrible horrible horrible - Horrible staff, terrible service, got mad at me because they don’t have the advertised amenities, called the cops to have me trespassed because they were not able to fix something so easy as resetting the router to regain WiFi. Forced me to have a police officer escort me to a different hotel. Not arrested, just given a ride to another hotel. I did not wrong.
- Dina (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful surroundings, breakfast at the Mansion excellent. A lovely change from the boring chain Hotels.
- Becky (10/5): - Very nice room and staff
- Anonymous (8/5): We enjoyed it. - The breakfast was good and it was very quiet. The air conditioner slats kept closing shut somewhat. I would have liked salsa for the eggs and some bacon for breakfast.
- Rodney (2/5): - I would never stay there again. I tried calling to let them know we were arriving late and no one answered. I had a question about our billing after we departed. I called and no one answered. I sent an email to the email address on their web site and no one replied. I contacted Expedia to get help to get an issue resolved and they were unable to get anyone to answer the phone and address the issue.
- Dave (4/5): - The facility was very nice; the buffet breakfast was excellent.
However, both Hotels.com and the Kirkwood Inn charged me for our room, and neither has been willing to admit their mistake and issue me a refund. I will apparently have to dispute both charges through Capital One in order to avoid being double-billed. I will not stay at the Kirkwood Inn again and do not plan to book any travel through Hotels.com in the future.
- Redona (6/5): Pleasant - The pictures are outdated
- Lisa (8/5): - I think this was a very clean stay and in a great location.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): - Lovely breakfast and gorgeous grounds
- Richard (10/5): - That was a beautiful place to stay. Very clean abd cozy. Best sleep in a hotel. Very peaceful and the breakfast was very sweet.
- Lynne (6/5): Pleasant -
- Chelsea (7/5): Good - Very clean. Cozy rooms.
- Ketterman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kristi (7/5): Charming and clean - Wonderful breakfast and staff! Clean and comfortable. Door open to outside, true old style roadside motel.
- Dean (9/5): Superb -
- Danaka (10/5): Great place with a lovely staff. - Breakfast was great! The ladies were wonderful! They made sure you had everything you needed. Nothing.
- lisa (2/5): - When I arrived with my reservation the hotel told me they didn’t have any more rooms . They did not call me to let me know, and offered no explanation for giving my reserved room to someone else. We were left with no where to stay for the night.
- Kencana (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (10/5): - Fantastic place to stay!
- Gerald (1/5): Very disappointed - WE WEREN'T ABLE TO STAY THERE. WHEN WE GOT THERE, THE LADY SAID THERE WAS A GLITCH IN THE SYSTEM AND THERE WASN'T ANY ROOMS! WE HAD TO DRIVE AROUND MASON TO FIND A ROOM AFTER DARK, NOT KNOWING WHERE WE WERE. VERY DISAPPOINTED! WE BETTER NOT BE CHARGED FOR THIS! BAD DEAL THROUGH BOOKING.COM. COILD NOT STAY, OUR ROOM WAS TAKEN!
- Andrew (10/5): - Really enjoyed this place. Wonderful breakfast in cute historic home
- Petr (8/5): Very good -
- Dorothy (8/5): Kirkwood Inn 5/9/25 - There were two floors at the Inn. We stayed on the second floor. Note: there was no elevator to get up to the second floor, so if you're handicapped, you need to ask for a first floor room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Service and amenities were wonderful. Bed was not so comfortable for me. Otherwise all else was great.
- Michael (10/5): - This was a very friendly and unique place to stay. The room was very clean and the breakfast was delicious!
The Inn is much different than other places we have stayed. One of the biggest differences is that it's family owned. The family was very friendly and so were all the staff that we met. They were genuinely interested in why we were visiting.
- Andrew (10/5): A diamond in the rough - The Family friendly atmosphere Everything was great!
- Caleb (10/5): - Great stay. Walk through garden was beautiful at sunset. Breakfast was amazing. Room comfy and clead
- Carl (8/5): - Quaint small motel reminiscent of travelers from the 1950, however the connection to the historic inn next door and the fresh and vibrate breakfastoffering and delightful staff push this over the top. Great experience
- Bill (10/5): The Travel n Cowboy - Check In and Out were fast and easy. Room was great. Best of all was Breakfast and the Woman we met and who was cooking. SHE WAS GREAT!!!!!
- Lindsay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Donna (10/5): - Food was GREAT !!!!
- Crystal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raymond (9/5): Superb -
- Russell (10/5): - Great friendly staff. Wonderful customer service and great room. I’ll definitely book this Inn next time I’m in the area.
- Kathleen (10/5): - This is a great property. Away from traffic, yet close to town. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful. Staff was friendly. Great experience.
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Young-Hee (10/5): - It was a really old inn that still used a physical key and registration card instead of a card key and online registration. However, it was super clean and bed was comfy. Such a quiet place. Front desk was super friendly and welcoming. Even my grumpy teenager liked it. Breakfast was great. We really enjoyed our stay.
- Richard (10/5): - This place was perfect for anyone and any family and reasonably priced. The breakfast was amazing. You can't beat it for the price in that area.
- Scott (8/5): Very good - Only dislike — it is a little dated. Could use some updates but good staff, nice place.
- April (10/5): - The service and friendliness here is awesome. They make you feel welcome and one of the family. Our evening was quiet, and we experienced a delicious breakfast in the morning. We will definitely stay here again!
- Laura (10/5): - All the glowing reviews I read were spot on—this is quite possibly the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The grounds were beautiful, set in a peaceful country location, yet surrounded by plenty of nearby dining options. The motel-style layout allowed me to park right in front of my room, offering the kind of privacy I love, but with the quaint charm and class of a boutique inn.
Everything was impeccably clean, both inside and out. The decor had a unique, old-fashioned feel, yet the space looked brand new—nothing was run down or worn. The room was quiet, the bed was soft yet supportive, and I haven’t slept that well in ages.
The staff was just as exceptional—genuine, friendly, down-to-earth, and incredibly generous. I was even offered a room upgrade for a very reasonable price. And as a bonus, I was greeted by the sweetest little King Spaniel, Francie, at check-in and again at checkout. I truly can’t wait to come back!
- Aaron (10/5): Amazing - This is the best hotel I've stayed at in many years. And I stay at one every week.
- Jane (10/5): - The Inn was pristine -- very clean rooms. Sandy, the owner greeted us and helped check us in. The rooms are decorated with what I would call colonial furnishings but felt modern and recently renovated. A very generous breakfast was served in a stately colonial mansion just across the parking lot. Beautifully appointed and historically significant. Ask Sandy. We would stay here again.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - was a very good experien
- Katherine (10/5): - Great friendly and clean
- Shanna (10/5): - The owner is a caring and personable human being that was delightful
- Kelly (10/5): nice - the breakfast was amazing and the staff were so friendly nothing it met all of our needs
- Terry (10/5): Loved it - This has to be the best place that we have stayed since staying in hotels and we are in our sixties! great Breakfast
- scottbV2377GY (10/5): Thanks for a wonderful stay! - Wonderful, extra clean, relaxing, and great breakfast in a historic building. Peaceful landscaping added to the charm. It’s family owned and operated, but check in and out we’re smooth and stress free. It’s close to Kings Island and I75, Strongly recommended!
- Scott (10/5): - Very good, charming place!
- Edward (9/5): We loved it -clean, friendly, affordable - Very clean Bed was firm, but I would stay again
- Rick (8/5): - Unfortunately, the breakfast was not available on this stay due to an issue they had, they discounted the stay and apologized. Room was very clean, staff was very friendly.
- Tommy (7/5): Would go back but the price is too high for what you get in my opinion. - quiet, out of the way a bit, very friendly staff, great breakfast buffet. Had the feel of a bed and breakfast vs a hotel. the rooms use old style window ac/heater and the air smelled musty for the first 3 or 4 hours especially.
- Caroline (10/5): - Everything was good the room clean and the breakfast, nice staff
- Laurie (8/5): - The historic house where breakfast is served is wonderful. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the house.
It was raining, so the outdoor seating and ground were not explored or used.
The room was very clean and odor free. It was quiet and safe.
Payment is processed at checkout.
Overall, the property is old school and nostalgic. It is clean and quiet with friendly staff.
- Sarah (8/5): Dated, but very nice - Everything was clean and comfortable, the staff were very kind and hospitable. It’s very dated
- Quest09812282292 (10/5): An excellent stay in southern Ohio - Passing through southern Ohio and was very fortunate to find the Kirkwood Inn. Very well kept, clean motel that has the best included buffet breakfast! The breakfast is in a historic house(1799) adjacent to the Inn. Highly recommend this motel!!
