Guest Reviews
- Elon (6/5): - You sometimes get what you paid for. We didn't get a lot but we also didn't pay a lot. For one person I think this would be an okay place for a night. For the 3 of us it was pretty tight and uncomfortable at times. The TV was in the bedroom and I was trying to sleep while the others watched a movie. Not ideal. It's a very old motel/cottages and they have not been maintained that well. I get the feeling the owner isn't able to do a lot. The view outside the cottage was nice and the main road close by wasn't all that noisy inside.
- john (8/5): - For the cost and the surroundings; as an overnight stop, you can't go wrong with staying here.
- Angelic (2/5): - This was the weirdest and worst experience. We arrived and was greeted by a man who said let’s check you in. Took my money than told us it’s gonna be about an hour…. They were changing the furnace???? Check in was supposed to be at 2pm. We left at 4pm and had to get another hotel. They were still working on it when we left. No one check in on us… we never got out keys…. We never saw the inside of our unit that we paid for. I do not understand why this property is on Expedia. I tried getting a refund and Expedia can’t get a hold of this property so they are trying to deny our money. EVEN THOUGHT WE HAD TO BOOK ANOTHER HOTEL THAT SAME NIGHT!!! EXPEDIA HAS NOT BEEN HELPFUL AND NEITHER HAS THIS PROPERTY….. Do not stay here in hopes of getting a room…
- Cathy (4/5): - The hot water came & went. Not good when trying to take a shower.
- Barbara (10/5): - Originally, I found this little gem while I was searching for accommodation around the Port Townsend area with two beds (two friends traveling, not a couple). I like to stay at places that are a little different, I read the reviews here, and decided to book it.
Our little cabin was spotless. Super clean. The towels were fresh and fluffy. Lots of extra amenities. A stove and fridge. And even popcorn! A vintage TV and VCR! The beds were OK, there were extra pillows. And if you’re lucky, you’ll get to see the goats on the property.
It was a fun stay, almost like a trip back into the 70s in the very best way. Super affordable. And really nice people.
- Bailey (8/5): - Great host - easy check in and friendly. Could use some shampoo in the cottages and lids for the pots and pans, and a spatula, other than that great service.
- Mike (6/5): - I liked that it was inexpensive and close to Port Townsend.
- Patricia (2/5): - This property had no amenities. The heat did not work properly (the property manager worked on it for 20 minutes to get it to turn on), it is a very old gas furnace that was not very functional or safe, we went from freezing to 90 degrees, we could not turn the furnace off. The furniture (what there was of it) was very old, torn and not very clean. I don't understand why this place got such great rating because it was terrible. We went to have a nice night away from home, but ended up staying up half the night because we were fearful of carbon monoxide poisoning from the faulty gas furnace. It amazes me that Expedia allows such poorly maintained and unsafe properties to be rented from their site. I took numerous pictures of the cottage, because the pictures on Expedia are outdated and not correct.
- Melita (6/5): - The cabins and location were fine. However the amenities were not what I expected. There were pots, pans and dishes but no supplies. Bring you own salt, oil, etc as well as food to cook The heat eidn't seem to work and the hot water was hit and miss - mostly miss for the shower. No shampoo, hair dryer, internet or tv connection The tv was only for dvds which they had qute a selection.
The cabins were definitely dated.
- Ujjalpreet Kaur (10/5): - Loved the place ! Cute cozy place - very
Humble owner runs this place ,
- Gwen (10/5): - Easy check in and out process. Nice quiet spot and beautiful view.
- Carolyn (8/5): - I like the dog friendly property. Cabin is old but clean. The price is what sold me on it.
- Marcia (10/5): - This is a quiet, quaint, clean little cottage with interesting history, goats, chickens and a great view.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - You get for what you pay.
- James (8/5): - A compact cabin on a hill overlooking a bay with all that was needed for a nice night's stay. It was a good value. The room was clean with everything we needed including coffee and a bag of microwave popcorn.
- Monica (10/5): Cute little cabins - We've books these cabins once a year. The space works out for what we need. Comfortable and cute. Nice to have a kitchen to cook your own meals
- Mike (10/5): - 6000 mile trip. Probably our favorite location. Quiet. Loved watching the goats.
Is a tv. No signal or cabel. If head that way again will take a dvd player along.
- Tim (6/5): Quaint little place - Cute little cottage. Has all amenities except A/C. Too many mosquitoes to keep open the windows. Bathroom was updated nicely. Just a nice barebones little cottage . Price is right. We stayed 3 nights and I would have stayed longer!
- KAI-YUAN (8/5): - Ok for the price
- Meighan (8/5): - The cabins may look a bit rough from the outside but they were built in the 1950s. Believe me when I say the rooms are larger than you think. There was a double bed, a twin bed and a small couch in the room- good for sleeping 4 people. It was my dog and I in the room and there was plenty of space. There was a full kitchen. The bathroom was especially clean and nice! The shower was heavenly after my 12.5 hr shift. I couldn't get the DVD player to work but I probably didn't hit the right buttons. I had cell service so I watched videos on my phone.
I stayed here because fireworks keep me up at night and scare my dog every 4th of July so I leave town for the night. The few fireworks we heard were far away and didn't bother us a bit. The adorable deck chairs on the porch overlook the beautiful Discovery Bay.
Here's the deal: these are salt of the earth folks who run this place. Kind, helpful and down home. They run the lobby out of their house. This is a small business in a country town. If you want fancy with a concierge and mints on the pillow you can find that in Seattle. This is a great value for your money. Supporting small business is important in this economy and I felt very good about choosing to stay here. I will be back.
- Beth (10/5): - Room was clean, nice and quite
- Joann (6/5): - An old fashion cabin , but my friend missed the TV.
- Robin (2/5): - It smelled musty and moldy, only 1 place to sit except at the kitchen table (hard chairs), no TV and we were afraid to sleep in the bed because of its condition!!! Some had cabins had particle board and tar paper on the outside!!! We walked in, looked and smelled, stayed 5 minutes and left!!!
- Dan (8/5): Quaint but surprisingly nice for the price - Upon arrival we were taken back by the overall appearance of the property but were surprised by the inside of the cabin and all the appliances at our disposal. We have always loved Port Townsend and this was a very affordable quaint but clean place to stay. The valley view was also nice. The room was definitely updated inside.
- Cliff (10/5): - Staying at the Valley View felt nostalgic and was very cozy and rural. The surroundings were rustic and beautiful!
- Mike (8/5): - The property is old and a bit run down but clean and the host were very friendly there’s a bit of traffic noise to to the close proximity to the road. The price was fantastic and it’s close to Port Townsend which is a plus
- Tisha (6/5): - It was fine for a night. Beds were not comfortable. Some noise as you are close to main road.
- donna (10/5): - Wonderful farm with older cabins but clean and neat with kitchen. Close to Sequim and Port Townsend. Friendly service.
- Odessa (10/5): We would definitely stay there again - The people that owned the property were really nice. The wife sold us eggs and the husband checked us in and they were really easy-going to talk to.
- Carol (6/5): Good Stay - Good value property for the money. Out of town, but very convenient to routes 20 and 101 which made leaving the area very easy.
- Julie (10/5): - Friendly animals, quiet
- Ana (10/5): - It is rustic, yet well equipped for cooking and dining in.
- oshiyah (10/5): - The owners are so nice and welcoming, and the location is so beautiful. I would definitely recommend especially considering the price.
- Carolyn (10/5): - Cozy cabin with well stocked kitchen. Friendly goats to greet you
- Rowena (10/5): - A little cabin that brought back memories from my childhood. And there was a real Bible. Loved it!
- Rhonda (10/5): - Quaint little cabins with kitchen close to highway. Manager was friendly and helpful
- Marc (10/5): - We booked a few nights in one of these cute cabins because they are supremely affordable and in the perfect location for our adventures in Olympic National Park. Our cottage was clean as a pin with a big comfy bed and a full kitchen. We will definitely be back.
- Kathleen (10/5): - My husband and I had a relaxing and restful visit. We felt as though we were visiting our grandparents farm. We had a lovely time and hope to stay again.
- Donna (10/5): - Maybe not everybody's cup of tea, but we loved Williams little cabins in Discovery Bay. It's a little older a little dated but extremely friendly and extremely comfortable. You're convenient to Port Townsend and all of Olympic National Park. His cabins are clean, and have everything you need for your stay.
- Katherine (6/5): - Clean but basic. Adequate kitchen facilities and comfortable bed. There was an old TV which didn’t work and an old clock radio which had poor reception. There was no internet in the cabins so we needed to stand outside the office to pick up a signal to go online. The shower was tricky; it went from ice cold to very hot and back to cold in no time.
The price wasn’t too bad. The place had a nice view over the bay. Close to Port Townsend.
There were 4 charming and playful goats and a friendly cat and dog as well.
- Wen (10/5): - Love this cottage, neat and cozy with a kitchen.
- John (10/5): - Awesome
Every thing you need to stay a night!
Thank you
- Gerald (10/5): - Step back into the 50’s. Very enjoyable stay.
- Karen (10/5): - It does have a great view of Discovery Bay and is a great place to day trip around the Olympic Peninsula. The place is clean, with no WiFi or TV, because you should be out most of the time.
- Vladimir (8/5): - The most affordable Motel all over the area.We are very appreciative to owner for that. All motels around are 3 times more expensive.the same quality.Wiard trend.Good for you dear owner!!!
- Carl (10/5): - Liked the price
- Abigail (6/5): - Our cabin was not clean. None of the 3 of us felt comfortable removing our shoes the entire stay, noticing gritty floors. We felt so generally dirty that we weren't comfortable showering and using the bath towels.
Silverware in drawers was not clean, and we had to brush some specks, etc., off the beds. We were uncomfortable noticing the couch was covered and questioned why that was - left us without much of a place to sit.
Parking spot next to the cabin was convenient and I enjoyed petting Fred the cat as we paid.
- Philip (2/5): - Unfit for Human habitation. Should NEVER been allowed to Advertise on Expedia!!!!
- Joanna (10/5): - Very cosy, nice, clean. Pictures do not reflect how nice the place is. Old - in the best of its meaning! We absolutely loved this little cottage!
- Lori (10/5): - Lots of birds to listen to, nice view of the bay. Cute cottage. Great shower pressure. Nice host.
- Peerzada (10/5): - Great stay! Would definitely be here again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Although this place doesn't look like much, I found the accommodations to be exactly as expected. The property we stayed in was in good condition and was quite clean. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchenette was sufficient enough for me to cook some of our meals while there. It is unfortunate though that only three of the cottages look to be in reasonable shape to rent out. It is right off a highway, but isn't too noisy and its location means you have an easy drive to Pt. Townsend or the northern side of Olympic National Park.
- Jaymie (10/5): - Valley View Motel is a great little "get away." It's rustic, it's clean, it's quiet. If you're looking for state of the art, top of line everything, this is not the place for you. But if you want a simple little cabin, friendly check in, not many people around and just a place to relax, read, write, or watch an old movie on a small TV, then it's a great place. I come here to unplug and I feel refreshed after a night or two and am a little sad when I leave.
- Evelyn (8/5): - The property wasn't fancy, but it was clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed to enjoy our beachcombing weekend.
- wesley (6/5): Small cabin, needs work. - The place is well worn (needs help). No couch to sit on. Every thing else was just OK.
- Jaymie (10/5): - I have wanted to stay here since I was a child. The quaint little cabins remind me of the small farmhouse I grew up in. They are clean, have cooking provisions, and my small canine traveling companion was welcomed. Check in was friendly and casual. We are already planning to go back just to get away from the city and relax.
- Cathy (10/5): - It was a nice quiet stay
- Sieglind (10/5): - Nice owners
- Kathleen (10/5): Rustic, quaint cottage - Great cottage! Bed was a bit saggy. Rustic with great view of the bay. Loved it!
- Holly (6/5): - Perfect for us for one night. Right size, right cost, private. Prob wouldn't stay more then one night. Everything we needed - kitchen, shower, easy to find. Bed was a bit uncomfortable but doable.
- Gary (10/5): - Didnt like that the Bedroom window didnt open. Stuffy in there.
Was comfy and cozy although the bathroom was extremely small.
- Taylor (6/5): Old cottage, clean, okay owners - You’re getting what you pay for here.
It’s an old cottage but clean for the most part. They give you free popcorn and have an old school dvd player in each room.
The owners are nice enough but I found them to be a little off.
- sandra (8/5): - This is about as basic as it gets. The room was shabby but clean. Located close to Port Townsend and lots of hikes nearby. Property Manager was very nice.
- Christina (2/5): - The place is a below my standards i would not even stay rented another room and left .
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Cabin was as pictured but with one big difference. It was very hot inside after being closed up all day. There is no air conditioner AND the windows do not open so it was hard to cool it off inside. There were so many flies around we had to wait until later in the evening to open the door and place the fan in front of the door to cool it off. Kitchen was not stocked well. I had to ask for a pan to cook dinner in. Would not book this again. Too uncomfortable with the heat.
- Kelly (8/5): - Good location, dining options within 12 miles or so.
- pascal R (10/5): - The cottage has been remodeled lately and is rustic but very clean and quiet. Would definitely come back. The kitchen is very well equipped. They give you enough towels for your stay but don't come in your room during the stay
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Not as clean as it should be. I removed a clump of hair and goop from the bathroom sink drain Fingerprints on microwave and refrigerator, and refrigerator not totally clean inside.
No a/c and screens on only 2 windows, so if leaving other windows open insects could come in. There were fans which was the only thing that made it bearable.
No TV access, a TV that could play videos which I guess you could check out from the office, I saw some there when I checked in, but manager did not tell me anything about them.
I opened one window and couldn't get it closed, saw a woman outside doing yard work, told her about it. She came in, couldn't get it closed so plugged opening with paper towels and made no effort to get it fixed while I was there.
- Kjersta (10/5): - Very cute rustic cabins.
- Colette (10/5): - A very funky little property straight out of the 1940's. Very clean and everything works. You get exactly what the photo and description promises. Great value for the price and a unique experience. We enjoyed it and would return.
- Verified traveler (8/5): As pictured. - Was as pictured. Great view of Discovery Bay. Cabin was rustic, but had everything we needed.
- James (8/5): Great Alternative! - This was a very good stay for us. Cottages were comfortable. With no tv or wifi, you think "uh oh" but it was actually a relief. The area is beautiful, great sunsets, and not all high class. Great place to stay. If you need to be hand held and catered to, this isnt the place for you. Would definitely go back. Owners are good people and Coco is always happy to see you.
- Brien (10/5): - This place is great. We love staying here, taking advantage of the well kept kitchen and the great old VHS and DVD movies.
Easy drive to many great attractions from Port Townsend to Sequim.
- Jacob (10/5): Beautiful day - Beautiful day to relax on the porch and watch the sunset and goats.
- Wynn (8/5): - Cozy, quiet and comfortable. Good place to unplug and relax.
- Susan Pond (8/5): - Old and funky but clean. Old heater and hot water worked.coffee pot and coffee. We had cabin#5. Pet friendly. Door did not close unless dead bolted from inside and my dog got out when we had made a quick trip to the office to get dvds. Beautiful view. I used Expedia to make the reservation several days prior to arrival and the manager had no wifi and had no knowledge of our reservation. The only option was cash. No checks. Luckily we had enough cash. I have it a good rating as it was fine for one night. The property is run down and other cabins appear in ooor condition. Manager was nice. Beautiful view. Would not stay there again but was fine for our purpose .
- ken (8/5): - TV is small. Other than that no problems.
- Robin (8/5): Cottage 3 - Cottage 3 is nicely updated and the price is right for a kitchenette, refrigerator & stove!
- Rose Mary (10/5): - The privacy was great, it was comfortable and we were visiting friends so enjoyed the views, the drives, and didn't mind that it was very basic.
- John (8/5): - Hard bed. Varible water temp in shower, hot and cold hitting you. Nice hosts.
- Jo (2/5): - This property is totally misrepresented on your site. The pictures are not anything like the actual property. Only two of the cabins are even ready fir guests. It says TV-yes there is an ancient TV, but NO service. There is a DVD player, no remote, and 20-30 year old dvds.
We only stayed because we had no where else to go. I have pictures if you like. We are going to ask for a refund. Thank you.
- Janeth (10/5): - It's great! Loved having a kitchen and the owner was very patient with our late arrival.
- Phyllis (8/5): - Very peacefully lovely view
- Ron (8/5): - I've stayed in more motels than I can count. This place stands out because it's different. There's more privacy here than in your standard motel, because they are separate cabins. Full kitchen, with dishes, silverware, etc. No TV reception here, but the office has DVDs you can borrow. We had a barbecue on the front porch. Very quiet and peaceful here.
- Peter (8/5): - a simple rustic cabin in a beautiful corner of the world, as quirky as the FatSmitty's diner over the road.
Lawns trimmed by friendly goats.
Definitely no WiFi or valet parking
- Joshua (10/5): Getaway Weekend - I had a pleasant stay At Valley View Motel. I very much enjoyed my stay
- Edward (6/5): - Imagine it's the 1960s and your uncle built a cabin in the country. He's not a great craftsman but it's functional, full kitchen, tiny bathroom, plumbing exposed. Rustic. And for some reason the shower doesn't work. Got the picture? We slept well which was the main thing and it kept us warm and dry. If basic is OK for you, and hopefully your shower will work, then you'll likely be happy.
- Robin (10/5): Cozy Cottage - cozy, clean cottage that was perfect for my needs!
- thalia (8/5): very clean - The place needed maintenance, but for the price, it was just fine and was very clean. 3 adults and a dog- we loved it
- Michael (8/5): - Felt very comfortable and home like. Other people might say it was below their status but, I would definitely book another stay
- James Pierre (8/5): Entertain a positive attitude - I was surprised. It was relatively a decent place to lay your head. Must of had a wood stove in it previously smelled like a fire place. Ok for some. Not so much for others. Landlord very nice and easy going. Even gave me a 30$ discount. Good crash pad in a pinch. For sure. Will use it again. Next available hotel was 250/ night. NO THANKS!!!
- ANDREW (8/5): perfect Olympic NP basecamp - Perfect 1-night stop to wash up, repack, and relax after 8 nights backpacking in Olympic NP. Simple, spacious (full kitchen), no hassles and very affordable. Drive right up to your cabin.
- Rboenish (10/5): - This place is a treasure. My partner and I (and our little dog) stayed here as a base camp for a hiking trip. First, location is perfect and with covid it's great to be out of the city. The cabins are incredibly cozy, and well appointed. It's a simple but thoughtful setup.we were excited to have the popcorn and watch some of the classic movies in the collection. The owners are great and if you ask you can buy some delicious eggs straight from their farm. We will definitely come back!
- Phyllis (8/5): - Stayed for 3 days great view of the bay. Close to Port Townsend & Sequin. Will be going back.
- Lisa (6/5): - The best things I can say about this place are that it was cheap and reasonably clean. Located not too far from Port Townsend, and within 30 minutes of Sequim.
The not-so-goods: aging mattresses were uncomfortable; property far too close to the highway and unfenced, so we had to constantly monitor our dog to make sure she didn't get too close to the road. Not well-insulated, so got quite cold overnight if we didn't leave the heat on.
Owners were nice enough but standoffish, which was a little off-putting.
We will stay at one of the hotels in Port Townsend next time we visit.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful view, simple accommodations with everything you need.
- Didi (8/5): - Exactly what I was expecting. Perfect alternative to camping and a great home base for exploring.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - They've been renovating this motel. They are basic kitchenette little cabins. Nothing fancy but it is a great value. This location sits across the street from the Discovery bay so the view is ever changing.
- Teanna (10/5): Just right! - It was exactly what we were looking for, a cute affordable cabin get away. It was clean and cozy and just right.
- Jimfest (10/5): - When we arrived, the manager had no idea we'd made a reservation. It seems to be a problem with Expedia not communicating with the motel management? Good thing there was a room available after the 9 hour drive! The stay was better than expected. Nice little rustic cabins with all the amenities. It's a few miles outside Port Townsend proper but worth the drive and you can't beat their price.
