Guest Reviews
- Virendra (8/5): - All good
- Timothy (8/5): - Clean room, comfortable bed
- Margaret (8/5): - The guy that checked me in was nice. The room was pretty hot though. Air conditioner was in the corner away from the beds and it didn't do much to cool the room.
- Justin (10/5): - Very nice staff, I loved my stay at the Jamestown Motel
- Daniel (10/5): - Not bad for being a motel. Reminds me of my grandma house dress up wise
- Vern (6/5): - Good cost
- Kate (10/5): Worth it. - The property is on the older side, but was actually extremely clean. I was pleasatly surprised.
- Larry (8/5): - Nice
but toilet was way to small for a bigger person hard to get up it's too small why would any motel use such a small toilet a lot of them do
- Shelley (10/5): - We stayed in Jamestown the night after the recent tornado and the power had come back on shortly before we arrived! We were grateful for a good nights sleep on a comfortable bed and appreciated the very kind staff, too!
- Leonard (10/5): - Toilet doesn’t flush, tub doesn’t drain hairs all over walls, pubic hairs all over toilet. Staff is friendly but property is not clean and not worth what I paid.
- John (6/5): - It was quiet during our stay. Old and rundown, Staff doing their best with what they have. Ok for workers but wouldn't recommend for families.
- Joni (2/5): - I went to this particular location and the property was dirty and disgusting. I went to a different hotel in the same town. I'd like to get my money back if possible on the Jamestown Motel as well.
- Michael (10/5): - Very nice rooms
- Donald (10/5): - Friendly and accommodating staff
- Robert (10/5): - Was good, the owner was very nice and let us plug in our car to charge. Beds were very comfortable, towels were soft, and I was very happy with my stay
- Tiffany (4/5): - Booked a room with two double beds, but one was a twin. Tv was in other room near a
- John (6/5): - no bars in the bath tub
- Dovey (6/5): - I don't mind an older hotel, but this one was rather run down. The carpet and comforters had been replaced, but everything else seemed badly worn.
The description said breakfast included, but it was small, pre-packaged muffins and coffee in the lobby. That's it.
The man that checked us in was helpful and kind.
- Robert (8/5): Nothing fancy but quiet - It’s a good spot to sleep overnight. The manager is very friendly. He makes sure there isn’t any loud noise after 10 PM, which I appreciated. The rooms are clean but have an old house smell. Very reasonable price for an overnight stay.
- Kelly (6/5): - The motel is very old and in dire need of some updating. The room and the bedding were clean but from the odor, it must have been a smoking room and the old cigarette smell has penetrated the wall, carpet, curtains etc. The box spring and/or mattress was so creaky, it woke me every time my husband moved. The owner and his family were very nice and welcoming. The check-in process went very smoothly.
- kelvin (2/5): - May mañ portado el propietario
- Anna (10/5): You can trust this - Loved my stay! Bug free, clean, just enough for me to have a roof over my head, warm shower and comfy bed all for such an affordable price. Will return when I’m back for work!
- Sheila (8/5): - I just needed a place to sleep at the last minute. This was sufficient for my needs.
- Val (4/5): An honest opinion - After we checked in and assessed the situation, my husband said "at least the bed isn't broken." When the frame shifted and the bed fell apart, we both laughed. There wasn't much else to do. He figured out the poorly made frame and we didn't have a problem with it after that. Terrible bed, too.
The reality is the room was clean and owner seemed nice, but the place probably needs some intensive care or gasoline and a match. It looks like it should be rented by the hour or condemned. Cracks in the wall, everything is in poor condition. Wish we'd slept at a rest stop. Can't say much else.
- nicholas (4/5): Look for real before reserving. Ratings are fraud - Motel is a good 5, the reviews show a pattern of submission of 10's. No way! Breakfast is advertised. It consists of coffee and a muffin. Box elder bug infestation. But sheets and towels are clean, water is hot, heater works. I'd use Super 8 before staying here again.
- Malissa (6/5): - This was an ok place to spend one night, it's an old Motel, you can't expect much for 60$ you get what you pay for. The guy at the front desk is very nice. Theres no breakfast just coffee and a small muffin to go. So again good for a night if you need a quick place to stay. We didn't use the shower so I can't say much for that. The heat did work well!
- Katie (10/5): - It was a very nice and clean room. Quiet and cozy little place! The man at the front desk was very nice and even opened up the front office in the morning early for me because i had to check out at 6:30am. Plus it was a decent price!
- Dean (6/5): - Place to sleep while travelling. One night was enough. Bed was comfortable enough and clean. Room had an odd odour.
- Beth (6/5): - Just ok. Needed a place to rest after unexpected travel challenges. Found this hotel on Expedia.com, with limited availability in the area, and need for late evening check in.
Clerk was kind and helpful. Property and room, however, are dated and dingy, in need of a spruce up. Served our purpose for one night.
- Kenneth (4/5): - It was an interesting and nostalgic experience, because this motel is exactly what a motel was in the 1950s. The low property condition rating just reflects that the motel would need a lot of updating to reach modern standards, and it wouldn't be practical. The room AC is remarkably noisy and has no lower fan speed, so a trip to the shower is more bracing than you might want. The owner provided coffee and muffins in the "lobby." You carry the coffee and muffins to your room. The muffins are the 3-bite size. It's not what I'd expect for a breakfast. But for a one night stopover, it was OK.
- Rick (4/5): - The place is old and dumpy. Needs serious updating and renovation.
- Teresa (10/5): - The staff was friendly, room clean and quiet!
- Robert (10/5): - Very dated, but for the price very good value. I would stay there again.
- free (10/5): - Perfect place to stay during a long trip
- Anita (10/5): - Really liked this place, the owner is the nicest guy, even walked outside to show me where my room was!!
- Pete (2/5): Horrible cleanliness and bed bug problem - They had bed bugs and dirty sheets and box springs had blood stains all over them from the bed bugs
- Lara (6/5): - We got in late and I am sure we woke the owner. It’s an older building but seemed clean and a good place to rest for the night on our way home. Bed sounded like it was wrapped in plastic so every time we moved it made noise. Still not bad for the price.
- Sheldon (8/5): - For the price, the hotel was pretty good. Friendly staff and very helpful.
- Kevin (6/5): - The towels were hard and crusty feeling so went and bought my own towels.
- Tanya (2/5): - Do not stay here. Nasty smell, dirty stained everything. Beds like cardboard. Duct tape holding something in shower, stains in shower and the floor mat of shower nasty! This place should NOT be a business unless renovated!
- Shawn (6/5): - Little dated, not too bad.
- Roland (6/5): - No glasses in the room. Had to hand mouth in order to brush my teeth. Also, the sign outside the hotel said rooms for $39 but I paid about twice that amount for their cheapest room.
- Spencer (10/5): - The owner was extremely accommodating and friendly. Everything was clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this motel to anyone looking for a night or two in Jamestown.
- Terri (6/5): - Dated and bed uncomfortable.
- 461genevas (10/5): Amazing experience - The motel is older, but it is very clean and the owner is very friendly and goes the extra mile for his guests. Would recommend the stay. The beds are comfortable and the motel is clean on the outside and felt safe.
- Jose (10/5): - Quick check-in/check out. Good place.
- Sherry (8/5): - It was okay.
- Aaron (10/5): - It was like the rosebud motel but nicer….maybe like after they did the renovations and went full on chain style. But seriously it was cleaner than expected and we arrived very late and he was very accommodating. Would stay again when you need a bed for the night. Had a full size mini fridge and microwave and 2 queen beds for my son and I and was quite affordable.
- Paul (6/5): - Just a decent place to lay your head if thats all you're looking for. Not much in the way of amenities so keep that in mind
- MARY (8/5): - Very friendly
- Katelyn (6/5): - Liked that it was only 10$ extra for my dog. Disliked the trash filled area, dirty rooms, and staff attitude
- Waneta (4/5): Rough around the edges. - I was not overly happy with a dirty room. Looked like they may be prepping it for repairs. However a quick sweep of the bathroom floor would of been a good thing. The sheets and towels were clean so i just wanted to shower and sleep. No shampoo but a place for it. Hair dryer ripped from the wall. The shower curtain was stained and nasty. Around the property was alot of trash, old used masks, and a dead baby bird right by the back door. Usually when i stay at places there are maintenence people that check the lot. Garbages over flow and right out front bags of empty soda bottles. I would not choose this property again.
- Richard (6/5): - Accomidating wanting a different parking spot
- 605ritaa (4/5): Comfortable but crowded - We needed a cheap place to stay, and this fit that category, the bed was comfortable but the room was so small there was barely room for the suitcase. The bathroom was just as small and crowded as the room was. No cups or tissues in the bathroom. The parking was not close to the room either. We didn't try the internet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice little place - Cute and cozy.
- rebecca (6/5): - Good value, but the kitchenette was void of any cookware when arriving. Owner provided pots and pans the next day, but disposable cutlery and dishes.
- terri (8/5): - Cheap clean motel
- Daniel Eric (8/5): - Property was fine. Definitely a bit rundown, but staff was friendly, bed was comfortable, and it was like $50. Just needed a place to crash between long driving stretches and this was perfect. Would stay again if I find myself doing that drive again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The outside of the hotel looked like it needed repair, but everything worked in the room. There was a refrigerator and a microwave. The towels were nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Upon arrival, the counter greets me warmly. I didn't have high expectations because of the low cost of accommodation, but it has everything as well as other first-class hotels. The cleanliness and the kindness of the hotel owner is unforgettable. If I have a chance next time, I will definitely stay here.
- Randal (10/5): Affordable older style motel - We were given a free upgrade. Comfortable beds and clean sheets. Safe area. Simple coffee, muffin, and cold cereal continental breakfast made for a quick grab and go. We will book again if passing through the area.
- Verified traveler (6/5): You get what you pay for - The motel is VERY old, but definitely clean. Luke warm water and no plug outlets for a CPAP machine without unplugging a lamp...let alone charging electronics/cell phones.
- CATTSAR (6/5): This is below average but not quite poor - This is not a place I would stay again. Upon my arrival there was no record of my reservation or that I had a Cat with me. I was informed that they motel did not accept Cats, however the owner graciously allowed the Cat. The room was okay but very basic, to the hotel's credit the refrigerator, microwave and TV appeared new and the bath towels were surprisingly plush. I was taken back at the fact there were no cups or tissues. I did have a pretty good night's sleep which is important. The outside needs work.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice clean rooms. If i m in town again i would stay here again !
- Chris (8/5): Structural criticism - This motel was good for what we needed. However It needs to be upgraded as it seems like everything in it was there in the 70's. The breakfast was vending machine bear claws and needs improvement but the service was very friendly and very accommodating.
- Verified traveler (8/5): You get what you pay for - I called the front desk several times and the same gentleman answered and couldn't answer any of my questions. The room had a strong musky odor.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean room. - The room was nice and clean.
- JamestownMotel (8/5): - I don't remember, so it must have been okay. I do remember that the room was very small, but okay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We liked the price was very affordable we would stay again
- macdonjg (2/5): Terrible place - I would never stay there again; front office staff were not professional nor considerate. Telephone bookings where not honored and staff showed no remorse or consideration for the problems they caused. Best to avoid, lots of better hotels out there.
- djtripp415 (4/5): a buget motel, a budget experience - My girlfriend and I are moving and found this place on tripadvisor for a low rate. We all know what to expect when we chose so it went as expected. The owner was friendly and we were the only people staying at the hotel, I did not leave a tip in the room because there was a $3.00 added fee for internet and room service which they always deserves. The reason for 2 and not 3 stars because we were planning on sleeping in because this was the 4th day on the road but there was only blinds that were missing strands and no curtains so by 5 am it was to bright to sleep. I jumped into the shower and it started to fill because of a clog so I jumped out. There is also no ice machine in which we like to wind down and have a drink before bed but for $1.80 dairy queen across the street will fill a bag of ice. For the price I would only stay again if there were curtains on the windows as this is the only reason for staying at a motel: to sleep.
- lost_gurl87 (10/5): awsome - had a wonderfull experience stayed her a couple time. i have 3 kids and 3 dogs. this is one of the only hotels that actually has 3 beds in one room for a decent price. the staff is very friendly and more than willing to help their guests. i wont stay any where else in jamestown.
- sheela20 (8/5): Recently remodeled and it shows - Good value for this remodeled motel. Friendly staff and clean rooms with adequate amenities. Our stay was comfortable and when you are with friends we needed that for a quick and pleasant trip. Reasonably priced.
- marybS5234WG (2/5): Keep Looking - Wanted to give this motel a try based on others' reviews. I also like to give small businesses a chance. I won't be back to this motel. Other than the fairly cheap price, the decent bath towels, and the quiet location, there isn't any other positive. Bathtub train had a spider's nest and windows were sealed shut. Breakfast was horrible! Cereal tasted as though it had been in the plastic container for months. Milk was off. Not worth the lower price.
- BNRobb (8/5): Very friendly & helpful ownership - The property is a bit old, but the room was clean & reasonably priced; the beds were comfortable. We pulled in late with a large truck & trailer; the owner was very accommodating getting us parked & plugged in. This place is good value for the money.
- 44statesandcounting (6/5): Nice enough place - Good value for the price of the room. Room was clean and bed comfortable. The room was just a little dated. New owner is currently working on remodeling the rooms. Did need ice but none available. Management friendly
- 64PaulaB (2/5): Cannot recommend - This was the dirtiest room I have ever stayed in. There was a room here with 3 queen beds for a reasonable price and with 4 of us traveling the extra bed was welcome as we are all tall people who tend to roll around while sleeping. We took the room. I am not a terribly fussy traveler and am no prissy traveler. This room was slightly above filthy.
Positives: The front desk fellow was friendly and helpful. The wireless internet worked very well. The toilet and sink operated well. The parking was free. The location was convenient. The pictures on the wall were nice. I am kind of stretching here for positives.
Negatives: The room was not made up when we arrived. The front desk guy apologized for the inconvenience of having to wait while he threw some clean sheets on the beds. This is not a huge deal for me but an annoyance. The night manager apologized as the new housekeeping staff were not performing well yet.
The carpet was stained like bunch of meth heads had partied there. It was really in bad shape and I felt like I needed a shower when I took my shoes off.
But you really felt uncomfortable in the shower. The bathroom was stained so you could not really tell how dirty it was or just mold stained. It was bad. The stool flushed and the sink had running water and the drain worked well. But it was less than sub par.
The room was dirty. You couldn't fault new housekeeping staff for the caked-on grunge on the window blinds. It had to have been months if not years since they had been cleaned. Not just a little dust but thick layers of ancient grime.
There was a fridge and microwave and kitchen sink. They all had the same decorative pattern...cheap, stained/chipped and junky.
This was the first time I would not allow my suitcase to be on the floor. I was very concerned with what kind of creepy crawlers would go into it. The room stunk terrible of cleaner as well. Obviously there had been some attempt at cleaning it at some time in the near past.
The continental breakfast was some lousy coffee and a few sweet rolls in individual packs. I declined.
I have no resentment towards the motel. They were nice enough. But really friends, the room we stayed in was disgusting. If we weren't so tired, I'd have tried to move on but it was late.and we'd been driving all day. This room should be an embarrassment to all hotel keepers everywhere. Given the filth, I almost wish that the staff had been nasty to us or even indifferent. But they were nice. I hate posting this but the truth is what it is and I cannot recommend this motel in any way, shape or form.
- DayTrip647704 (2/5): no kids. allow 2 messy - made reserved a room. for 4 me wife 2 kids that are 10 n 8years old. time came to check in was told only one house keeper and said that kids are to messy ,I was like wow ,so we went up the hill n got a room for the same price but now got pool with slide place. to eat n a bar n someone that could speak English
- Lucymood (6/5): Good value - We found this motel at the last minute and fairly late at night. We were driving cross country and we're happy to find it so convenient to the highway. The owner was delightful and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and a good value.
- michaeldG5465IF (8/5): Nice quiet and friendly place to stay - Very nice motel and well taken care of. With friendly staff. The room itself was comfortable and clean. Had a small fridge and a flat screen tv and microwave. Was a great place to stay and highly recommend.
- MontanaLaurel (8/5): All the comforts of home - I got to Jamestown early & on a budget, so I had time to shop around. I got a great deal at the Jamestown Motel, & was delighted by the room. Maroon sheets & bath towels, blue hand towels, a tan bath mat--like a guest bedroom in someone's home. There was a microwave & refrigerator & a flat screen TV. My bed was very comfortable & there was natural light in the bathroom. The proprietor was charming. One tip: don't give up on the hot water. It takes a while to get there--at least to room 33--but it comes. I
- redoneheart (6/5): Older, but clean and quiet. Quite satisfied for the price we paid. - My wife and I were returning home and found this on the internet. The $59 rate was inviting as the rates in this city are much more. The pictures looked good. The manager was very friendly. The motel is 1950's that has been cleaned up. We booked a queen but the bed in the room was only a full size . Don't know if motel really has queens as would be no space left in room because chair & ottoman took up space & were unneeded. Room had big flat screen, refrigerator and microwave and was clean and quiet. Hot water could have gotten to shower faster. Didn't stay for breakfast which was cold cereal and cookies in small lobby. However, final analysis is we only use a room to sleep overnight and so I thought we received fair value for the price.
- rb4db (6/5): Too Much for Too Little - My husband and I stayed for four nights with our two cats. The room was 10 X 12, at the most. Nice and clean, new carpet and vinyl, just way to small for two people. The worst part was the water wasn't as hot as I normally like for showering, I had to turn up the baseboard heat really high to recover after bathing. The people above us came and went all hours of the night and fought a lot into the wee hours. $325.00/week for the two of us and an additional $50 for the cats.
- memawof375 (2/5): Rooms are tiny and way to expensive for what you get - The room we got for our "special" rate was tiny. The bed was very uncomfortable with springs poking in your back and the room smells like stale smoke. I had to clean the bathtub myself due too the ring around it. The floor is uneven and I constantly tripped. The carpet should have been replaced in 1970 its torn and wore out in spots. I booked online and the pictures are not a true representation of the rooms. The "kitchenette" that is for guest use is a stove that I would never put my food in, the fridge hasn't been cleaned in months. Its 100% a true dive motel. Every town has that 1 motel that has a reputation.... this is that one. The walls are paper thin so you can hear your neighbors talking or watching tv.
- 613gabriellad (2/5): Dingy and Dirty - While traveling through North Dakota with our 5th wheel, we were sidelined by high winds. We stopped at the Jamestown Motel because it was the only dog-friendly hotel left with an available room, or shall we say studio suite, billed as their best room. This room (24) does not appear to have benefitted from the remodeling and excellent housekeeping reported by other guests. Overall, it was dingy and dirty. The refrigerator was dirty inside and out, the freezer had a good two inches of ice in and around it. The oven was dirty. There was a $150 charge for not washing your dishes, but no dish soap, dish clothes, or dish towels were provided. The bathtub had mold and mildew. The bedspreads were old, worn and stale smelling. The sheets had a weird, unclean odor. I had to move the nightstand to plug in a CPAP and found a Wal-mart receipt, dental pick, change and a metal nut, along with lots of dust. Heaven knows what was under the beds! There was grime built up in every corner. It was not worth the 89.99 rate plus tax and 10 dollars extra for a pet. I had every intention of discussing our dissatisfaction with the manager, but the office was unmanned when we checked out. We will not be returning, and absolutely cannot recommend this motel.
- 420DanielV (4/5): A Big Disappointment - After a stay two years ago I was looking forward to another restful night in an old-fashioned motel. I had trouble locking and unlocking the door. The inside thumb latch kept falling off the handle. In case of fire or tornado I could have been trapped. There was no ceiling light; all light came from two feeble table lamps. There was no phone in the room (for calling for help), nor clock. The sign advertised rooms starting from $39.99, but no such rooms were available. I paid $65 including tax for a tiny room. There was no sound barrier between rooms. On the other hand, the room was very clean and recently renovated. The motel was convenient to freeway and to stores and restaurants. It was free from road noise.
