Как я понял, это дом старинного торговца, бережно переделанный в гостиницу. Как будто попал в сказку "1001 ночь". При этом, всё комфортно - ванная, кровать, на высшем уровне. И кормят прекрасно, хоть и вегетарианская кухня. такого нет, все идеально

• Ali (9/5): Old world charm! - Love the decor, the old world charm. This is a property I return to. The ac and fan in the room are great! Love the old trees in the courtyard. I dont like the menu or that there is no provision for parking.
• Ireen (9/5): Romantic hotel which made me feel in love with Dubai - The place is magical! Such a calm and quaint place. It really makes you feel transported in time. It reminds me of ryokans in Japan, cave hotels in Oia, courtyard containing hotels in Marrakech. I would stay here again and again. I loved walking around. It was easy enough to haul my luggage the few minutes to the hotel- so long as you know in advance what the deal is but not suitable for people with too much luggage and weak muscles for example. I was in room 11 on the ground floor. One day there was loud indian music on so I couldn't sleep til it was off but the next day it was more background style of music and quieter which was much easier and I napped easily in the day. Light was no issue at all- pretty black out. There are rooms upstairs so specifically request those if you're more sensitive. The breakfast is nice enough. The foul could be made better (I tried Arabian tea house nearby which was great). But XVA has samosas, prata and fruit which were really nice and different too. 10/10 want to return and bring my family next time. The romance of the place can't be beaten. I walked to the souk and river nearby for some light shopping. You can easily take a boat to the other side for the other souks too. The room was a little musty, this reduced when I kept the fan running in the bathroom. Having a window/vent in there would be nice but I'm not sure if that would help with noise issues. The fridge needs replacing- it was super loud, adjusting temperature on and off. I switched it off. Not had this issue with any other hotel.. replace them! There is no natural light as being on the ground floor, you lose privacy. It's ok and expected though.

• Kamila (10/5): Great place to explore old Dubai - The hotel is adjuscent to the Old Dubai so is the design in the same style of the very first Persian settlements. The lication is great. The experience is great. We had one of the bigger rooms, bed was comfortable and wide. It’s a courtyard with rooms all around but all people were very respectful and quite in the evening. Just the pillows are quite high.

I don't know why the waiter did it but then we found rooms were available on booking.com and they apologized saying there was miscommunication. The room did not have a window and although comfortable, I would not pay USD 150 for such a room.

• Federico (4/5): Notti insonni, consigliato per un brunch ma non per soggiornare. - La struttura è molto bella, peccato che non sia per nulla funzionale. Alcune camere sono posizionate attorno al cortile interno principale, in cui si trova anche la caffetteria, aperta al pubblico dalle 7.30 di mattina. La bellezza del luogo e la gentilezza del personale, non sono valse le notti insonni e la mancanza di privacy e relax. La camera dava direttamente sul cortile interno, sede della caffetteria aperta a tutti (ospiti dell’hotel e turisti esterni). Impossibile rilassarsi quando si dorme letteralmente dentro a una caffetteria, aperta dalla mattina presto alla sera e con la musica di sottofondo sempre accesa. Nessuna privacy, l’unica finestra della stanza dava proprio sulla caffetteria, c’era solo una tenda a separarle. La stanza bella, ma buia di giorno e illuminata artificialmente di notte (le luci della caffetteria rimangono accese tutta la notte, abbiamo dovuto chiedere ogni sera di spegnere almeno quelle fuori dalla nostra camera). Avevamo chiesto di cambiare stanza, ma purtroppo non è stato possibile. ATTENZIONE: la struttura dovrebbe indicare chiaramente su Booking e sulla sua pagina che alcune camere si trovano praticamente dentro alla caffetteria! Non avremmo soggiornato in questo hotel se lo avessimo saputo.
• Martina (7/5): Hotel carino in Dubai vecchia - La struttura è molto carina, situata nella parte vecchia della città, in un’area totalmente ristrutturata, a pochi minuti a piedi da Al seef. Il bar interno anch’esso molto carino. La reception 24h su 24 è indubbiamente comoda per i viaggiatori e il personale gentile. Metro raggiungibile a piedi in circa 5 minuti. Non si può arrivare in auto direttamente all’hotel ma non è un problema in quanto la strada è raggiungibile in un minuto a piedi. Pulizia stanza e bagno ok (Consiglio di aggiungere degli appendini per asciugamani in bagno). La cura è lo stile che si trova nelle aree comuni non l’ho ritrovato nella stanza, che invece risulta abbastanza anonima. Noi abbiamo soggiornato al piano terra, e la stanza purtroppo era totalmente sprovvista di finestre (nulla anche in bagno). Cuscini molto molto scomodi, abbiamo provato a chiederne altri ma non ne avevano di diversi. Insonorizzazione non pervenuta.

No big issues: bit noisy and overpoweded AC in the room (the usual "no AC or full AC, no in-betweens"), the place was hard to find in the middle of the night becouse of minimal signage and some pavement works in the area.

• Borja (10/5): Exceptional - As always, I love XVA. I love every bits of it, my comfort and happy place. At the time we checked in, I realized that the neighborhood was under construction so it was quite a hassle strolling around the area. Nevertheless, it’s still my favorite courtyard hotel.
• Charmaine (8/5): Unique boutique hotel - The hotel is in a historic area and close to the souks. I felt very safe as a solo traveller. The staff could'nt be friendlier and hospitable and helpful and informative. During the heat of the day, it was nice to return and lounge about in the communial areas. There's a lot of secluded areas with art displays. The restaurant served delicious food and I can recommend the Cucumber gazpacho. There's no drop off zone close to the hotel. I would suggest that people reference Peet's coffee shop as the closest area for drop off. I also think a gold cart would make it easier for picking up guests with luggage. Their solution is having staff come and walk with the luggage from the closest point.

• Lorna (9/5): Lovely place to stay! - Extremely attentive staff, wonderful setting and lovely, comfy rooms. If you’re wanting to stay in Dubai, but get a sense of what it was once like before the glitz and glamour arrived, this is the hotel for you. The breakfasts are great, the food is reasonably priced outside of this and you’re walkable to some excellent restaurants nearby. I couldn’t recommend this place more. I am dropping a mark because they need to update their arrival instructions. There is restoration work being done to the old town of Dubai and therefore it is no longer possible to arrive in the way they suggest. It should be simple enough to update the arrival point and create a map for guests to use to get there. I do find it surprising that this hasn’t been done. Easy fix that would ensure the check-in process is smooth.
• Claire (8/5): Full of character but little comfort - The staff were very helpful and provided excellent service. The building has a quiet charm with traditional style courtyards and levels. Plenty of areas for relaxation and socialising with day beds and lounges throughout the communal areas. Simple but tasty breakfast. The hardest beds in existence (and I like a firm mattress). Challenging access for those with mobility issues. The inconvenience of dragging luggage a considerable distance from the road. Located in the middle of a construction site, so ongoing noise and all but one entry points from neighbourhood blocked off.

• Voxdoc (10/5): An artistic villa, a step back in time for a relaxing stay in Dubai - Our fourth time in the hotel in the past several years, we really continue to enjoy this hotel. Our first room was a little tight under a wind tower, with no place really to hang our dress clothing, no window and a bit stuffy and we switched rooms, enjoying the second room much more (as we have enjoyed several other rooms in the hotel). We love the courtyards and the upper balcony for relaxing. The staff really accommodate our needs. The breakfast is superb, beautiful, tasty, generous, regional food. In the modern Dubai, a stay here is a step back in time. There are several nice places to eat nearby. It is a great walk to the waterfront and the nearby souks. We will likely stay again on our next visit. The district is undergoing a makeover, making most of the streets closed. It's extremely quiet as nothing is going on. Only one way to access the hotel.

• Olivia (5/5): great location, but average hotel. - beautiful old building and in the most historic, characterful part of town. I liked the combo with the art gallery too. Really hard, uncomfortable bed and no hot water throughout my stay. This area of the city is also currently being renovated, so there are a lot of building works.

I was shocked to realize that most of the district was under construction. The coffee in the hotel lobby wasn't good and there was no good alternative around. The communication with the hotel was outstanding and the experience was top notch. Due to nearby construction, the hotel clearly communicated that someone would be available to speak with the taxi driver to instruct to where to go for drop off and direct to the hotel in the historic district. I highly recommend this hotel. In addition to being located in the historic district, it is located near the cultural center, which provides tours and cultural experiences for tourists. We loved staying at XVA steeped in culture and hospitality. The rooms are lovely, the beds are comfortable and the food is delicious. Nothing - all was great.

Location is good for me as I like the old part of Dubai. It’s lovely. I’ll be glad when all the building work in the area has finished. The first night the air con played up,& went off and on in fits and starts. Eventually, it did work. Mosquitoes are a pain! I’ve returned home with 10 bites. They were pretty determined!
