Guest Reviews
- Evans (10/5): Not a Bad Place - I love the cleanliness of the room and the staff was very nice and respectful. Even though the outside leaves you wondering if you should stay there, it was nice inside. There weren't any bugs or terrible smells or stains. I did not like the fact that the toilet had no water pressure and you had to flush a couple of times, even when you just urinated.
- Flor (9/5): -
- Marietta (1/5): Awful - Dark smelly falling apart.
- Austin (7/5): Its a vibe. Will come again. - Tv was huge and shower was spacious Really easy to hear noises outside and people were talking till 2 am outside.
- Scarlet (2/5): This is the kind of place where you would take a prostitute. - The guy at the check-in counter was nice, but that's about it. The property was dirty and does not look good. The room was labeled non-smoking but but it smelled like an ash tray. The bedding was stained. The front door was damaged and since you're next to a highway it is very loud, all the trim in the floor was torn off, lots of water damage, and just nothing about the room was good. It DOES NOT look like the photo pictured!!!
This place is not cozy nor restful.
- Rosa (10/5): It was a very comfortable stay - Comfortable and clean There’s nothing to complain about
- Millard (10/5): -
- Jason (8/5): - It was homey. Rather than hotelly. Nice little unbusy spot. It wasn't super fancy. But, I think that's what made it homey. At least for me.
- Jody (8/5): - Nice bathroom You could here the traffic
- Jamez (6/5): -
- Samuel (10/5): -
- Erin (7/5): - Clean, friendly, priced decent No microwave
- Lynne (5/5): -
- robert (5/5): -
- Austin (8/5): It was well worth the price and very cozy!! - It was very cozy and nice and small They are redoing their parking lot so it was kinda hard to get into and find a parking spot
- Flippo (7/5): -
- Emilie (6/5): - Cheap No water fountain, dirty room and shower
- Philip (7/5): A good value overnight stop. - The motel had been updated with a fresh new look. It was basic but clean. Being on a major road, it was convenient to where we wanted to go, but also easy to get to and from the centre of town. Staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the coffee-maker didn't work.
- Erik (8/5): -
- Mickey (8/5): Comfortable, affordable accommodations at a good value. - The location was close to the venue where I was playing. The air conditioning worked well as it was very warm while I was there. There is no breakfast at this motel

- Joe (7/5): -
- Frees (10/5): -
- Christina (4/5): - clean room very very small room, everything was on top of each other, no soap at all, bed was very hard and not a full....I paid for a king
- Jiangping (6/5): 性价比还可以 - 路边汽车旅馆,位置很好,开车经过休息很方便,条件一般 早晨没有咖啡
- Ali (10/5): -
- Chuck (8/5): - This was a no frills place to stay but the room was nice and the front desk guy was friendly. If you are looking for a cheap but nice place to stay, check them out.
- Jadon (8/5): - A little upcoming gem in Des Moines! The rooms are better than what you typically get for this price and they are upgrading the hotel to be an affordable boutique hotel in the area. The owner, Dennis, was very kind. If you are on a budget, definitely don't let the outside turn you away. Appreciated my stay.
- Kyle (6/5): Good room, bad bed. - The room i stayed in was nice, they didn't have much for toilet paper in the bathroom though, but it did have a nice big shower. My only real complaint was the bed, it was hard as a rock.

- Danerogil (10/5): Great stay for price paid! - Great staff! Very accommodating for our needs. The room was truly cozy, had amenities that were unexpected, like the refrigerator. Added furniture was also something that really made the stay amazing! The vending machine could take $5 bills. The parking area was under construction, which did present challenges, but not really something that can be avoided when making updates.
- Danerogil (10/5): Well worth the value paid and it was what we needed!
- Luke (10/5): - They are currently remodeling the outside of the motel. The room was as nice or nicer than hotels twice the price.
- Christopher (8/5): - Loved it
- Amir (10/5): - Great value for the price
- Lynnlee (7/5): Would stay again. - Great value and location. The outside looks a little dumpy but the room was nice. There was hair in the shower drain.
- orecase (7/5): -
- Chris (10/5): - Friendly
- Dawn (1/5): - Sheets dirty, dead bedbugs!! Would not recommend
- Kathy (10/5): Get what you pay for - We found the accommodations OK. We were in town for the State Fair and just needed an air conditioner, a bed, and a shower. The shower did not have much hot water or pressure. The air conditioning is a window unit, so it was a bit loud, but it did drown out the street noise. The room was clean and adequate for our needs, and the price was right. The facility is old and looks a bit sketchy, but the receptionist was kind, helpful, and friendly.
- Lonnie (7/5): Nice, but shower was cold - Clean, bed, lighting- Noisy street
Shower took too long to get warm water
- Louis (1/5): Never Again - Nothing at all Very unprofessional
- Glenn (5/5): adiquate, room was clean had what I needed, i.e. shower, good bed, tv - no breakfast room was very small, next to busy street and auto noise, not many amenities
- Lourdes (5/5): Very attentive front desk person, clean room, comfortable bed, bathroom supplies need improvement. - The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There was very little in the way of soap provided in the shower. The towels were meh and small. The stairs going up to the upper level were a little scary - but they were well lit at night.
- Karan (8/5): Nice cozy clean convenient motel with great owners - Near Iowa State fair. Great location. Busy road but rooms are quite soundproof. Looks aged from outside but rooms are nice , modern, clean and comfy bed. Family owned, wonderful people have stayed there years ago before renovation. Good value. Lovely staff. We will be back All good
- Glen A. (8/5): - I was completely surprised how nice this hotel was. I found it to be clean, quiet, and friendly.
- Roland (8/5): -
- Richard (2/5): Not good. - It was inexpensive Noisy location right beside a noisy highway. It didn't feel safe and it didn't feel clean. This motel is the only one I have stayed in that made me feel really uncomfortable. If it would not have been so late I would have gone to another hotel and just accept the dollar loss. Hard pass.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Inexpensive with Easy Access to Downtown - Inexpensive stay in a location with easy access to the downtown. I'll stay there again.
- Lauren (6/5): - As a woman in my 20’s, I felt a bit on edge staying here but I knew what I was getting when I paid for it. My key card kept getting disabled each day and I had to keep getting new ones. The sheets appeared to be stained and we found a pair of dirty underwear inside of the bedding. If you stay here I would advise you to bring your own bedding and bath towels. It’s a decent place to stay if you need a temporary room to sleep in, but otherwise I would recommend staying elsewhere.
- Williams (3/5): -
- Julie (7/5): - Everything in the room was clean. Bed was comfortable Building in poor repair - Peeling paint,
- Lucas (10/5): - Nice
- Mickey (7/5): Clean, afordable motel, with no frills. - The staff at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. The room was old, but clean and the ac worked well. Ice machine was new, and could only be accessed by room key. The wi-fi was not great. Lost connection a lot.
- Layla (1/5): - I booked this room for a stay after an Iowa Cubs game. My son and I arrived and found the location with a little dodgy. I wanted a room with 2 beds, but they booked us for a King. When we walked into the room the bed looked to be a full bed. The room was small and didn't look the cleanest. Our room was on the first floor and opened onto a major road. There were a couple of homeless people having a violet episode across the street. Needless to say it was a not a good fit for a single older lady and her teenage son. We left without staying at the hotel.
- Kimberly (2/5): - Very noisy from outside traffic, next door people. Attempt at remodeling on inside. Nothing outside and dirty.
- Thomas (6/5): - While the rooms was okay, there were a couple of things that would have been helpful. Firstly, there was no listing of restaurants near the motel which would have been nice. There was a television that worked, but there was no listing of the local TV stations or any kind of guide. The shower, while good, was not checked prior to my arrival as the shower was out of shower gel even though there were built in containers for the gel in the shower. Another thing that I was not pleased with was the lack of a receipt. I specifically asked for a receipt and was told I could not get one from the staff at the check-in desk. I was told to go online to get the receipt. I found this to be unacceptable and asked, specifically, for a receipt. The staff member finally printed off a receipt from an online page. Not providing a receipt was totally unacceptable and is probably a defining condition as to whether or not I would return to the motel if I was in the area again.
- Ryan (10/5): Bring a can of tuna for the local cat! - Others have pointed this out already and it is true. The rooms are nicely renovated. The exterior could use some work. The owners are putting in a serious effort to bring it up to speed. Further, they are kind and considerate people.
One ask, do a stranger a favor and feed the local cat. Or if you can bring him to Animal Services at 1441 Harriet Street, that would be even better. He can get his shots, be nuetered and adopted.
The poor guy was screaming outside my room during a rain storm. I forgot my card in my room when I went out to help him. So I spent a few hours in the stairwell keeping him company.
When I was able to get the keys to my car from my room and find the drop of (cats don't always do great in cars outside a carrier) I was unable to find him when I returned. Hopefully someone is caring for him in the nearby neighborhood.
But if you see him and are able please bring him to the shelter on Harriet street.Winters in Des Moines are cold. He is very friendly and would make a great pet for a lucky family.
Thank you,
Ryan from Rhode Island
- Steve (10/5): - The property was only accessible from one direction on a very busy divided street. Rooms were excellent. There was no cleaning of the room during my 5 day stay. The staff were very helpful courteous and friendly. It was close to restaurants and shopping. Worked very well for me.
- Jess (3/5): -
- Alexis (10/5): -
- Samu (7/5): - Super comfy bett.
- Thomas (8/5): - Clean, comfortable and quiet.
- Richard (2/5): - The area is horrible, the rooms smell like humidity, my wife has asthma and we had to leave without having used the rooms, after that the owner does not answer the phone to Expedia because he does not want to return the money, we are not picky, we did not expect a luxury hotel, we just wanted to sleep, my wife and I are riders, we have stayed anywhere except where there is humidity for a medical issue and it is not fair what these people do as if it were a poison, the environment in the parking lot was dangerous!
Feedback
- Bob (10/5): Excellent, place to stay at very reasonable cost - Pria at the front desk was very helpful with my concerns - payment and getting wi-fi.
- Paula (8/5): - Very nice room big comfortable bed very big TV had a refrigerator and a microwave and pretty clean it was very comfortable
- Qiang (8/5): - The location is very close to the Parliament building, and the hygiene is clean. Especially the young man at the front desk, he is very enthusiastic and kind. This somewhat makes up for the hotel's noisy shortcomings. The hotel is located by the roadside and is quite noisy. The air conditioning is also very loud. As a result, I didn't sleep well at all during the night. Considering that I had to drive for another whole day, it was really terrible.
- Sarah (2/5): - I stayed here overnight for an early morning flight. I would have been better off driving through the night or sleeping in my vehicle. The room door was hard to lock (had to lift it to insert deadbolt). It's noisy, the AC was noisy, the outside is falling apart, the bed is harder than a rock, and it overall is not a pleasant stay for a single woman. I did not feel safe. I will not every stay again. Not worth the $80 I paid.
- haylee (10/5): - great for a night
- paul (6/5): A hidden gem. Worth a stay. - Owner was friendly. The room had been remodeled and was very clean and nice. Location is a bit away from everything. The outside looks sketchy but don't believe it.
- Thomas (8/5): - Clean and quiet Pillows were a bit worn
- Berend (8/5): -
- Magali (6/5): - L'accueil est très sympathique. La chambre est grande. L'hôtel est bien situé pour visiter. Il y a un parking gratuit. La salle de bain aurait besoin d'une rénovation.
- Pat (8/5): - Check-in was a bit awkward, and it looks like I was double charged.
- Otto (1/5): -
- Barham (8/5): - For the price it was perfect. Rooms were clean and nice Only thing was the water pressure could have been better but that wasn't that big of a deal compared to what I would have paid for a different hotel with bad reviews
- Ben (7/5): -
- Uffa (8/5): - Beds, clean Non smoking,
- Barry (6/5): So So for the Price. - Average room basic TV no cable, no top lock on door, also no peek hole to see .. people in and out till 330am , towels were clean and bed was comfortable, also shower had nice pressure.
- Duane (3/5): Disappointed in Des Moines - Location was well placed within the city and near downtown. Room had recently been updated. Very old conditions inside and out. Even updated room had well worn items. Shower did not get hot water and soap/shampoo containers were empty. Felt like they weren't ready for my stay.
- Casey (10/5): - Clean and comfortable for the rite price!
- Minnmann (6/5): - Room was updated/comfortable bed Shower curtain was discolored and had mold
- Berry (10/5): -
- Theresa (9/5): -

- Nica (7/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): If I ever come to DesMoines I would go out my way to just experience this luxurious motel - Didn’t think much of the property when I arrived, but when walk into the room it looked like a 5 star motel. Reception was very courteous, helpful, and professional. It was an extremely enjoyable stay When you exit the property you can only take a right turn. It’s not there fault, but it’s the only objective I could come up with
- Darrell (10/5): - Front desk staff was friendly. Room was VERY clean. Basic room which was all I needed.
- Patricia (8/5): Great staff help - Very nice staff. Very helpful. Nice upgraded hotel room. Neighborhood is not the best. But safe.
- Kimberly (10/5): - Staff were very friendly and room more than met our needs
- Kristian (10/5): - Nice room and friendly staff
- Adam (10/5): Cozy was a great name for this place! - The room was spotless and the staff were very friendly. Nothing, it was great!
- Fred (9/5): Clean, renovated, convenient and inexpensive. - The location was convenient. I just needed a bed for the night and I was not at the hotel except to sleep so I was not looking for extra amenities. I was able to park right near my room which was convenient. It was a non-smoking room, but I could tell that someone had smoked there. Fortunately, it was not enough to bother me even though I am sensitive to smoke.
- Andre (10/5): It was great I really enjoyed relaxing - I like that it was quiet Didn't like that it wasn't too much around the area
- Naomi (8/5): -
- Stephanie (8/5): My short lay over on my trip here was worth the cost. I would recommend to any one traveling thru th - Very friendly and helpful young lady at the check in desk
The room itself-albeit small was obviously recently renovated and clean The outside looks rough
