• Richard (6/5): - Great budget friendly accommodation. The room was nicely appointed and had everything we expected. Staff were extremely helpful and keen for us to have a pleasant day. Shops and restaurants within easy walking distance all be it along a busy road. the beach was also a fairly modest walk away. Served our purposes perfectly.

• Mike (6/5): - Check-in process was terrible. No one on site at the stated check in time. A man drove in and came in for check-in at 3:20. He mumbled something, handed me a form to sign, and pushed a physical key to me. I started to ask a question when he stopped me, pushed another paper to me and said read this first. I almost canceled and walked out.
• Maria (4/5): - There were cob webs everywhere, we found spiders throughout the room. Marks on the walls, paint chipped. The bed was nice and we slept well. Its a place to just have an over nighter.

• Tara (8/5): Great stay at the Country Inn - What an adorable well located hotel. Very cottage like with a private patio. The only thing I would suggest is that they add dead bolts or a way to lock the patio doors.

We walked the property..very worn out…abandoned restaurant on site..dilapidated deck and furniture. Hotel clerk lied to Hotel.com rep saying they were there the. Admitted at lunch. Look at photos on Yelp… recommended avoiding this place.

Upon arriving the bed frame was broken (front desk guy said he would fix it and give me 50% off for my first night, he fixed it, but he never gave the 50% off). I killed 3 daddy long leg spiders in the bathroom. Also the bathroom fan didn’t work. Nice walk to Zumba beach though.

• Verified traveler (10/5): One Night Stay - Location is next door to PCH. Convenient yet a tad noisy during the rush hours. Location is also walking distance to Zume(a) beach. Great place for a morning, day or evening walk along beach. A few good restaurants, and amenities near by. Staff were accommodating and helpful.

• Peter (8/5): - You can tell the property is a little older, but it’s well kept and very clean. The parking can get tricky when it’s full because of the steep incline and parking stalls, but I recommend this hotel. I’ll be staying there often as my daughter goes to college.
• Shani (4/5): - Raheem was absolutely amazing during our stay—he handled every crisis with care and made us feel well taken care of, which we truly appreciated. That said, there were some challenges. The blackouts happened often—most of the time, in fact—and I was surprised the hotel didn’t have a backup generator for emergencies. The room also had ants, and I was bitten for two days straight. The sheets were dirty and even ripped, and there were no chargers available with very few outlets for phones. While the property itself is quaint and has a certain charm, it doesn’t feel well maintained. I had a suite with a patio, which could have been a highlight, but it hadn’t been hosed down before I arrived, which took away from the experience. Overall, the service from Raheem was wonderful, but the upkeep and amenities of the hotel left a lot to be desired.

The suite room was surprisingly large (especially for LA standards).I wish we had a longer stay so we could enjoy the amenities and the beach.

The pool area is pretty and peaceful with lovely views. The housekeeping was on point, but there was mysteriously never anyone at the front desk.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Good For A Short, Fun Stay - On the whole, the Malibu Country Inn is fun and cute, if not a bit shabby chic. It could use a few updates, i.e. the ice machine was not working and some features advertised were just for show (the in room fireplace is only decorative). That said, it is close the beach, affordable, and in an amazing location. Plus, Aaron at the front desk is super chill.

The staff really accommodated me on several occasions and was able to extend my stay at a great rate through communication and VETERAN Discount and quiet skills. This place has fine bones great design and floral and fruit garden. Pollination is purrrfect. Enjoyed my stay and would to visit again anytime. Nice place to sleep…zzz

• Ernest (8/5): Cute, Convenient walk to Zuma Beach - A quaint motel on/in a cliff overlooking the mouth of Zuma Beach. Walkable to the beach in 10 mins. Room somewhat updated but property in need of some TLC. We were able to bring our well behaved Husky. Driveway is steep so be ready for a good walk down and up. Angle in parking by rooms is convenient. Have to back out or turn around to get car out of where the main California Bungalow type row of rooms is. Each room has a private balcony. Pets enjoy that as did we except it rained, and it isn't covered but for a few feet. All in all, would go again. Very nice staff. Quiet area. Lights inside rooms and in parking lots way too bright for my taste, but that's me.

My reservation happened to be during the LA fires which made it impossible for me to travel (due to road closures, evacuations, and the city literally being closed) yet the inn denied my refund.
• Michelle (2/5): Disgusting establishment!! - Horrible place! I had left an expensive necklace on my the nightstand and when we got back it was gone! I made a police report. Do not go here unless you want your items to get stolen!! As soon as you walk into your room the stench of urine from the bathroom takes over. Towels had blood stains and hairs attached to them.

Looks like the whole building will be bulldozed soon… so why the heck did the hotel is in business. Even the night front desk guys just ignored our requests. Nothing works and paid high $$. We demand full refund.

• Laura (2/5): - The attendant was bathed in an awful perfume I was allergic to. He asked why I was coughing. My room was awfully cold and the heater could not keep up. Then, I found there was no lock on the patio door leaving me vulnerable. I am an older single lady and prefer to be locked in to a room. The slats on the windows did not function correctly either. I'm left as soon as I realized there was no lock on the door. I was told I wouldn't be charged. Will see!
• 791wayner (4/5): Too expensive for what you get - This place is not awful but in my opinion it is just one step above a discount motel. Yes it is well located however the owners seem to have taken an older building and done some cheap upgrades. I'd say putting lipstick on a pig. There was a hot tub outside which looked dirty and unusable. The internet works sporadically and the supposed upgrades seem to be of questionable quality. When we asked for ice we were given a little bag. All this would be fine if it was a discount motel but the prices are far too high for what you get. I'd suggest staying elsewhere.

Broken blinds, no screens on the windows, tv didnt work, fireplace doesnt work, electrical outlets do not work. Broken run down patio furniture. Clean sheets and towels, so if you just need a place to shower and sleep so you can enjoy the beach and dining you are good.
• fatma (8/5): Cute getaway place - It was close enough to walk to beach but the road did not have a sidewalk area. We did not have kids with us, so we were OK to walk on the road. Even though it was in October/ November the beach was warm to enjoy it for couple hours. We enjoyed our stay at the place. The staff were very friendly. I wish there was some hanger or hook in the bathroom for towels. But we used whatever we found to hang our towels. There is plenty parking space, If you have a compact car, it is easier to park. I recommend the place.
• Ember (6/5): - The restaurant was closed. The HvAC was broken so they provided me with a soace heater, which worked OK. Parking was free but the parking lot is so small it was hard to get in and out. The price was great and the room was cute. I might stay there again, if I'm on a budget.

• Deserie (6/5): Has Potential but Tired - I’ve stayed here twice in the last 6 months. The first time there were issues with the internet and TV. The gentleman at the front desk was nice and moved me to a different room. This last stay, the wood shutters were broken and or missing on several windows and the door. I had to use a towel to feel secure since I was traveling alone and the cottages are on the ground floor. Also, they could turn the exterior ights on the cottages as it really dark and creepy when youre trying find the keyhole to unlock.

• David (8/5): - Room was nice. Bath had a whirlpool. There were spider webs in the upper window and light track. Toilet water supply was in off position when we came for some reason. Check in and check out was super easy and seamless.
• DEBORAH (10/5): - White Marble floors and shower assured us of cleanliness. Sheets were new and bright white. We arrived very early in order to avoid L.A. traffic and the hotel owner (so nice) had his staff clean our room first because the prior occupants had checked out early. This is an old hotel which has been upgraded. Our room was large and had a new comfy chair but since there was a Keurig coffee maker with lots of pods and CoffeeMate creamers and a microwave, a small café table and chairs would have been welcome. Since we were only there for one night, we chose the most economical room. I believe that all the other rooms had patios with a table and chairs. Note: It is just a short walk to a gorgeous beach and 5 minutes drive to a Pavilion Grocery Store and a French patisserie. Also, close by car to some restaurants and a Starbucks.

Not walking distance to any restaurants though unless quite a way to one on beach. Clean room but no coffee maker. Had to microwave water for hot tea. Staff was very polite, kind & efficient! Great parking, (& free!). Beautiful sunny lobby, well maintained & bright. Overall great experience & wish we had had more time there.

• Malcolm (4/5): - I paid for a "garden view" room (#12). However, unlike the other garden rooms, this patio overlooked the parking lot. The only bit of garden was around the corner to the left. The owner/manager was very defensive and dismissive. Also the area past the pool was in need of repair, some of the decking had been uplifted and it was easy for people to trip over
• Teri (10/5): - Very quaint and close to the beach and fabulous restaurants. It’s a great value given the location in Malibu. Also dog friendly!

The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep after a day of exploring.
• gigi (10/5): - The staff is what makes a great place to stay! This hotel has been around for a long time and is older but holds all the charm of the years past! The location is perfect and the beach is a short walk away. View of the palm trees and ocean from the balcony were stunning as we watched the sunset.
