- Steve (6/5): - The hotel is centrally located but is dated and could really do with a refurbishment! The room was large but the bathroom tiny. The noise at 5am on both nights woke us as the room was close to reception
- Judi (6/5): - There was a lot to like and the people were very friendly. The heating / cooling in the room felt dated and not very controlled or consistent. You were either sweating or freezing. For spending the amount of money you are spending, you would expect that to be solved. Further, there should be bellmen to help with getting bags up to rooms especially since there is not an elevator.

- Carol (10/5): - Our room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff was friendly. There was ample parking, and the inn is very walkable to downtown Newport. Breakfast was a mixture of hot oatmeal and various home baked goods and some breads. There were always cookies in the dining room in the afternoon. The lemon blueberry cookies were delicious! We’re frequent travelers, and we would stay here again.

The rooms have small built in units that barely work, which resulted in our room staying in the mid 70s at all times. After showers, the room would jump up into the 80s. Not a huge deal, or a dealbreaker as the stay was still excellent.

- Brittany (10/5): - The Gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. He ended up being there in the evening when we checked in, and when we got up for breakfast and when we left. There is not much of the original jail left. A few random cell doors. But some cool historical framed photos from the area. The breakfast room had some great offerings. Plenty of tables, but during our stay it was full of people. But our room was so close being that it’s a seemingly small hotel that we could eat it in our room. A desk an two chairs and side table were sufficient for us. They had great offerings like peeled hard boiled eggs, fresh strawberries and blueberries. A hot oatmeal bar with toppings, nice breads and bagels as well as juice, coffee, hot chocolate etc. My daughter loved the themed pumpkins out front and said it was her favorite hotel out of the 6 or so we stayed at on the trip. The M&M automatic dispenser in the lobby probably helped!

- Beverly (8/5): Convenient and friendly! - Every single person that I encountered with the staff was very friendly. They were helpful with suggestions for dinner and directions. The location was very walkable. For anything outside of workability, the bus station was just five minutes away and very easy to use. The breakfast was just OK. But the afternoon, coffee and cookies were wonderful!

Do you not clean them and change the towels when I leave. Breakfast mediocre. Property old and furniture scratched and old. A low three star property. Take it from someone that travels 100 to 150 nights a year. For over 30 years.

- Dianne K Cole (10/5): Charming place in a great location! - Enjoyed a two night stay with my husband and son. excellent location within walking distance of so many great restaurants and shops in the beautiful Newport area. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. The breakfast was delicious and the warm cookies in the afternoon were a treat! We will be back for sure.

The stairs were above us so it was noisy when people walked up and down the stairs. Otherwise street noise was tolerable. Nice breakfast with cold cuts, cheese and fresh berries. No coffee maker in the room, but coffee was always available in the breakfast room. Small in room fridge located in the closet. They have parking lot located to the left of the Inn.

I did not mind this but if I were elderly or a women, I may mind. Writing this review so people are informed and also knowing the inn has no control of this.

Breakfast is good, there are always home baked cookies throughout the day, fruits, and coffee which is great. Water is also there free of change. I will stay there again.
- Anna (10/5): Clean, comfortable and centrally located B&B - Jailhouse Inn is a centrally located bed and breakfast with comfortable beds, clean rooms, and a friendly and accomodating staff. Their continental breakfast is very good. They offer hard boiled eggs and french toast. A good variety of fresh fruit is available throughout the day as is ice, water, and coffee. There is an M&M dispenser when you check in and out, a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this place if you aren't traveling with small children, can climb a few stairs, and can walk several miles per day.

When we return to Newport, we won't hesitate to book a room at the Jailhouse Inn.

It is very close to many great little shops and restaurants. Free breakfast was clean and healthy, and they have free coffee all day. - Susan (10/5): The place to stay in Newport - The hotel and staff were great. We arrived at 1am and were greeted and quickly checked on. The breakfast and afternoon cookies were great and the fresh fruit bowls were lovely. We loved sitting on the porch and the location and on site parking were amazing. Would highly recommend and will be back!
