Guest Reviews
- Ann (10/5): - It was a very congenial environment. Liz and her husband were very helpful and the location was perfect. It was a very walkable area.
- Brian (10/5): - The Yankee Peddler Inn is awesome. Has old New England charm. It's in a great location: it's in walking distance to downtown with all the restaurants and shops so you don't have to worry about finding parking. The staff is so nice and helpful. They go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay. I would recommend it to anyone looking to go to Newport for the weekend.
- Lisa (10/5): - We had a lovely stay! Great location that was walking distance to all points of interest. Easy access to free trolly right outside the entry door. Inn keeper was super helpful and friendly. Very nice continental breakfast. Room was quiet and clean.
- Norman (10/5): - Yankee Peddler Inn is a great place to stay.
- Whitney (10/5): Great place all around - Liz and the staff are so personable and helpful! It’s very homey and comfortable. The happy hour on the beautiful rooftop terrace was an unexpected pleasure. Highly recommend!
- Joanna (8/5): - I loved the fresh cookies!! 😀
- sabrina (10/5): - It was perfect!
- Dale (10/5): - Nice traditional atmosphere bathroom a bit confining
- Scott (10/5): Quaint, quiet Inn - We had an amazing stay here while attending my son's graduation from the Navy ODS class. This is perfect, quaint, quiet inn to stay in Newport! And the breakfast is amazing!
- Nancy (10/5): - I would highly recommend this B&B! The parking was behind the house and we were able to park when we arrived, even though it was earlier than check-in time. It was in a historic neighborhood with many beautiful and historic homes around it. There was easy access to Bellevue Ave (shopping, historic properties, a few museums etc), one end of Thames Avenue (shopping and restaurants), the harbor, The White Horse Inn (oldest pub in America), and Touro Park. There was a bar about 1.5 blocks away where we were able to sit outside. We only moved our car to go on Ocean Drive and you probably cannot walk to any mansion (we did not visit mansions on this trip). The breakfast had many options ranging from yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, various toastable items, and various sweet items. We enjoyed the food. The staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Carriage House, which was quiet and impressively clean. It has the character of an old house but with nice updates to make it comfortable. There is a small garden area between the house and the carriage house where we sat outside sometimes. There is also a nice rooftop deck, which we didn't get a chance to use but was very nice! I would definitely stay here again when we return to Newport.
- Halle (10/5): - The best inn experience I could have possibly had! This sweet, family inn was full of quality service and historic charm.
- Carol (10/5): - We had a room at the front of the house. It was remarkably quiet even though it faced the street and was near the front porch. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was clean and well appointed. The air conditioner kept the room cool without blowing cold air directly on us which is always a plus! We found the Inn's rooftop area to be a peaceful retreat as well. The location is in close walking distance to restaurants and shopping.
The staff at Yankee Peddler Inn is warm and welcoming, and always available to help answer questions about the area or assist with anything you may need during your stay. We highly recommend staying here and will be back on a future trip to Newport.
- Dennis (10/5): Great Inn, Good Price - Place had a lot of character, friendly staff, right in the heart of Newport, tight parking but they had a good system, allowed you to pre- check in so you could park even if your room wasn’t ready
- Corey (10/5): - This B&B was a great find at a good price. It is a bit dated but I found it quaint and charming. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and cozy with an immaculate private bathroom. Each evening, guests were offered wine, crackers and cheese with grapes, and also fresh baked cookies and coffee if preferred. The breakfast was surprisingly good. We walked everywhere and the location was convenient—we never moved the car once. We will definitely return to this inn next time we visit Newport.
- Ralph (10/5): Wonderful escape at the Yankee Pedder - The Yankee Peddler gave us a perfect stay for a few relaxing days in Newport. The room was comfortable, quiet and attractive, the staff were friendly and informative, the continental breakfast was superb (broad, healthy and attractive), the location is an easy, safe 4-block walk to the waterfront (we didn't use the car once during our stay), and the free city buses stop right at the front door. Staff gave us great suggestions on places to eat and things to do. Our stay was totally enjoyable.
- Peter (10/5): Great Newport Stay! - This is a truly quaint and lovely Inn situated perfectly in the Newport town for walking most anywhere. It’s family fun and the included breakfast is a great perk. Highly recommend!
- Xiaogang (10/5): - Great hotel
- Mihai (10/5): - We greatly enjoyed our 9 days vacation at Yankee Peddler Inn. The staff is very kind and professional. The rooms are renovated, clean and spacious, preserving the character and old-times charm of this place. The breakfast offered a good selection of quality options, while the afternoon cookies and tea/coffee were a nice treat after our long outings. We spent many pleasant evenings relaxing and stargazing on the beautiful roof top terrace. We decided to extend our stay and were gracefully accommodated. Will definitely return.
- Kerry (10/5): - We had a great stay at The Yankee Peddler Inn. It’s in a great area of Newport- easy walking distance to shops & restaurants but very quiet. Every staff member we talked to was helpful. Already planning our next visit!
- Marie (10/5): - Facility is lovely and well-kept. Great location. Staff was helpful, receptive, and friendly. Highly recommend.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Lovely stay at the Yankee Peddler Inn!
Super clean rooms, comfortable beds, great breakfast, wonderful location, and the kindest, most helpful owner. Thank you for making our stay so awesome!
- John (10/5): - Hotel was close to downtown Newport and very convenient to all that we wanted to do, Cliff Walk, Sail boat Tour and dining). People were great and very helpful
- Lori (10/5): - Great location. Walkable to restaurants, wharf, shopping, etc. Liz was wonderful. Loved her. Beautiful place. Highly recommend it.
- Alfonso (8/5): - Overall we had a great time. We really liked the rooftop area, the continental breakfast was better than expected, the room was very nice for an Inn, albeit very light on outlets, the front desk staff were very helpful. The best thing about it is the close proximity to the Newport waterfront, shopping, dining and mansion areas.
- Dawn (10/5): - Very attentive staff!
- Anna (10/5): - This place is
- Steve (10/5): - Wonderful spot. Easy to find and convenient to everything Newport has to offer. Staff was welcoming and kind. Room and inn were clean. Would definitely stay here again.
- Christina (10/5): - Was walking distance from anywhere you wanted to go. The hosts of the inn were incredibly welcoming and kind. Iw ould definitely return!
- Lee (6/5): - Good location. Breakfast provided a good variety. Place needs an update- kind of tired. Excellent potential though!!!😉
- Ana (10/5): - Love this inn! Charming and the staff is welcoming & helpful !
- Luda (10/5): - Excellent service, family atmosphere, coffee, tea and cookies all day long, nice rooms.
- Erik (10/5): - Nice historic house with close proximity to Thames Street. Good walking distance to restaurants and shops and very quiet at night. We walked everywhere and got uber to mansions and the cliff walk when needed. The hotel has a rooftop and sitting area around the house where we enjoyed our morning and afternoon rest. The bedroom was clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. We had a good night sleep after a long walk every day. Although the bathroom was a little tight, but it was not a problem for us. Breakfast was standard with fresh fruits (my highlight was fresh berries!), oatmeal, cereal, bread, boiled eggs, muffins, croissants, etc. They also had almond milk available. All staff were friendly. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a clean & cozy hotel to stay in Newport.
- Morgan (6/5): - The property was just ok. It’s a small older inn. The room was clean but the bathroom was extremely small. It is close to downtown but there is a hill that you need to walk up and down. The staff was interesting. The front desk agent was barefoot when we arrived. The continental breakfast was ok and the cookies in the evening were great.
- Rick (10/5): - Charming
- Isaiah (10/5): - Cozy, clean, well maintained and nice location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A characterful property, friendly staff. Property requires some attention in carriage house, adjacent to main house.
Good area to explore. Especially enjoyed Cliff walk.
- Christine (10/5): - April at check in was great. Excellent review of what we needed to know about the property, parking, free goodies and local wine. Helpful suggestions about what to do in town. Thank you, April !
- Suzanne (8/5): - Lovely historic home. Didn’t like noisy window air conditioner in room and noisy ice machine in breakfast room. Huge array of cereal choices for breakfast but no granola :(
Staff very helpful
- Dianne (8/5): - I would of liked some reccommendation for resturants.
- Sevag (10/5): - Very Relaxing spot with amazing staff
- Pamela (6/5): - The propery was nice but the mattress was horrible. It was mushy and sank in the middle. Ours backs hurt each morning.
- Vincent (8/5): - The location is excellent - you can walk to everything from this place. Parking is included (in an area where parking is an extremely scarce commodity and often costs extra). The staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable but could use a bit of updating.
- Michael (2/5): - Had an infestation Of small ants
Air conditioner very noisy. no refrigerator in room . Plugs were run on extension cords
Bed uncomfortable had a valley in middle
Sink and shower was not able to drain properly standing in a puddle while showering and had to wait for sink to drain when in use? I am not putting the blame on staff
I wanted a small cozy feeling in but the overall conditions not acceptable for
- Elaine (6/5): - Quaint old inn that needs some updating with furnishings. It also needs to be made known that you will be required to maneuver LOTS of stairs!
- steve (8/5): - I liked the close walking distance to downtown Newport. Staff was friendly and helpful.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - We loved the area it is located in. You can walk to almost everything. There is a free trolly that takes you to the Breakers and back The Inn is very quaint. There is a wonderful roof top area to sit and relax at. The only negative thing, the mattress was a little uncomfortable.
- Madison (10/5): - Perfect spot for a 1-2 night stay. It was easy to walk everywhere and nice that we could keep our car safely there.
- Wendy (6/5): - Road noise was terrible. Don’t stay in Carriage House. Blankets were paper thin.
- Michael (8/5): Fourth of July stay - We decided last minute to stay in Newport for 2 nights. This was one of the last available places for a fair price. We were pleasantly surprised. It is a bit dated but the staff was very friendly and our room along with common spaces were very clean.
- Justus (10/5): - Fun colonial place to stay for your visit to Newport!
- Cassandra (8/5): - Beautiful property with strong history. If I was rating strictly based off of the inn it would be scored much higher. The lady that checked us in was helpful and very nice, however we didnt have the same experience the following morning. My husband who is Hispanic went down for brrakfast first and the two ladies working were very rude and unfriendly to him. It was pretty disappointing because besides that, this would have been a great stay.
- Robin (10/5): - The carriage house was set in a lovely private garden in the shade. Nice size room with a comfortable bed. Though the shower was on the small side the water pressure more than made up for this. Continental breakfast was fair, the coffee was always hot and good tasting. The Buskers pub was 2 blocks down on the bottom of the hill making dinner and drinks a great convenience.
- Kristi (10/5): - The check in clerk was very helpful and friendly
- Dana (10/5): - Beautiful clean charming wonderful rooftop and location
- Mehak (10/5): - Accommodating management. Beautiful roof deck. Close to main street. Safe locality. Experience the local architecture
- Kelsey (10/5): - Lovely stay at Yankee Peddler for two nights while we visited Newport. Easy check-in, cute rooms, front desk were very helpful in resolving our heating issue and on-hand to answer any questions we had. Continental breakfast was standard with cereal options, muffins/pastry, oatmeal and fruit (I'm there for the fruit) and available for a good duration.
Rooms could use a new mattress and new sheets (getting a bit old).
Can't beat the location as it's a short 4 min walk around the corner to the main downtown street of Newport.
- Carol (10/5): - Very pleasant stay. Different than a motel.
Newport is lovely.
- George (8/5): - Close to Bellevue and downtown
- Nora (8/5): - pleasant stay in a convenient spot. The walls are pretty thin so we were disturbed by groups of people on our floor coming and going. The shower didn't drain very well. Other than those 2 issues, nice property
- Wendy (6/5): - The area and location was very good. The room was clean but needed some updating. The bathroom was tiny. I don't think the room was worth the price.
- Karen (10/5): - It’s lovely!!! So close to town and quiet! Bed is super comfortable!
- Helen (10/5): - It was very nice overall
- JOANNE (8/5): Beautiful historical great location. - Overall excellent experience, beautiful place historic neighborhood within walking distance of most attractions and restaurants. Staff were helpful and friendly with the exception of one woman on Tuesday morning who must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed. She glared at me when I told her we needed toilet paper. Eventually our room was made up and it was fine.
- Amela (8/5): - walkable around town. Good if you stay for one or two nights. Good Continental breakfast. Big enough closet, no iron or light in closet. No counter space in bathroom.
- Victoria (8/5): - The staff was extremely helpful throughout our stay and there were many amenities within the property. The room itself was dusty and there were many insects and webs around the corners of the room when we checked in. The corners of the room and walls could have been dusted and vacuumed. Otherwise, we had a great stay and we would stay again.
- Kelly (10/5): - Absolutely loved our stay at the inn! The carriage house was adorably quaint, parking was easy, location was unbeatable and Alicia was so helpful upon checking in. Will absolutely come back soon!
- HELGA (10/5): - Lovely one night stay.
- Denise (10/5): - It was clean and very convenient to all the restaurants and activities.
The staff was extremely friendly.
- Bruce (8/5): - First time to Newport. We chose this property based on location/cost. Once parked we walked into town for lunch/dinner sightseeing. We stayed in the carriage house. Room was small but adequate. Shower is small. This is to be expected when converting a property into a small Inn. Meg at the front desk was very helpful. Breakfast was included. The warm cookies in the afternoon were a treat!
- Alan (8/5): - It was clean, nothing fancy, but served our purpose of a place to stay for the night. I liked the Carriage House where our room was. Not many stairs and very quiet. The bathroom was good size and well stocked with everything you would need, The room itself was cozy and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Simply charming! - 3 of us planned to run a 10 mile race in Newport and we are so happy we stayed at the Yankee Peddler Inn. Clean, quiet, cozy, a great little kitchen near the front desk, and super nice people who manage the inn. It is a quick walk to the downtown area and shore. Parking (as it is for the entire town of Newport) is tight, but adequate and they have a good system for making it work! I am hoping to visit again soon as I’d like to see more of Newport in nice weather!
- ethel (10/5): Great Inn - Great location, quiet rooms and a very nice rooftop deck to wind down for the day
- Spencer (10/5): - The Inn was quaint and welcoming. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was great. Bed was very comfortable. The only thing that could have been better is if the room had more space to hang our clothing and had towel bars in the bathroom. The rooftop deck was a lovely space adorned with pretty flowers and a nice place to relax and have your morning coffee or a cocktail in the evening. The freshly baked chocolate chip cookies offered to guests is a homey touch!!
- David (10/5): - Charming. Great breakfast. relaxing. Good location
- Leon (10/5): - Very nice and pleasant place.
- Brian (8/5): Central location with friendly staff - First off, great location. Very close to Thames and pretty central for walking anywhere in Newport. Older place but clean and well kept. Very friendly staff. Our room was not very big and was really just a good place to sleep, not hang out. Continental breakfast was pretty basic. Would recommend if you are looking for a bed & breakfast place.
- Norman (8/5): - Newport is a terrific place to visit, this is a great place to stay to do it. Breakfast buffet excellent, bed comfy, parking no problem. Jolly good.
- Christine (8/5): - A nice place to stay for a night.
- Judy (10/5): - Quaint, clean, easy walk to shops, wharf, activities. Old building maintains its historic ambience, while it’s adapted to serve the needs and building codes of today. The breakfast included with your stay rounds out the enjoyable experience. It was convenient to park our rental car in the property’s back lot, but the spaces are tight.
- Michael (6/5): - Close to everything in town, walkable.
- ROBIN (10/5): - Yankee Peddler was a quaint cozy inn. The staff was wonderful, friendly and helpful. The flowers in the hall smelled wonderful. We stayed in room #8. The room was large and comfortable, very small bathroom, but it's an historic home. Breakfast was a great way to start the day. Location was centrally located. The parking was fine, not bad as I read in the reviews. One note: The inn is at the top of the hill. Rather a steep walk if you have an issue walking up hill, or with stairs.
About the area: I highly recommend to everyone, rent a Smuggler ( like a go cart...across from Red Parrot) we rented one our first day, it was a fun way to ride along Ocean drive, past the mansions, thru all the little areas, great way to see where every things located before you start walking.
Thank you to the staff of the Peddler for making our stay so nice.
- Noreen (8/5): Wonderful B&B - It was comfortable room- tough climb to top(30 steps up) would be difficult for a lot of people.
Staff was super friendly and helpful-breakfast was great. All in all a great stay- perfect location- walkable to so many things+ easy free trolly most of the year.
- Victoria (10/5): - Very conveniently located, clean, nice room
Breakfast could have more variety
- Alexander (10/5): - Excellent location : walk to attractions and dining
Pleasant personnel
Breakfast
- Jamie (10/5): - Quaint little in
- Melissa (10/5): STAY HERE - We had the best experience at Yankee Peddler. We were traveling on a whim and found this spot. Super cute, super accommodating, and super friendly. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the onsite and rooftop patio. We will likely go back just for that. The Inn is within walking distance of the waterfront and other areas.
- Steven (6/5): - Good location. Walkable to lots of things. Some items in the room needed repair. Room ac wry loud.
- Daniel (8/5): - Location
- Sherry (8/5): - Yankee peddler inn was a great experience and very close to main area…
- Linda (10/5): - We had a wonderful time at the Yankee Peddler! Room was large, clean and decorated beautifully! The continental breakfast was great! The staff were great and helpful and the parking was a definite plus! Thanks for a great stay!
- Tina (4/5): Terrible Stay - I have been to Newport many times and stayed at other B&Bs. The service at Yankee Peddlar was awful. The front desk staff was rude on multiple occasions, there was noise on the front deck until 2am and despite booking and paying for a superior queen room they gave me one room with a double bed. They even inappropriately accused us of taking a bottle of wine from their wine tasting. When we showed them the bottle of wine we were drinking on the roof was wine we brought ourselves (because their wine was so bad) they made another snarky remark about a bottle being missing and didn’t apologize for the accusation. We were extremely disappointed in this stay and would never recommend this B&B to anyone. There are plenty of other options in the area.
- Nicole (10/5): - Very cute place to stay!! Staff was wonderful. Great location, quick walk to downtown and the wharfs. Also has a trolly/bus stop right out front to take you to all the mansions. We parked when we got there and didn’t move the car once for our 3 day stay!
- Lisa (4/5): - Yankee Peddler Inn is charming. Lisa, who checked us in was very nice. The place needs a major overhaul. Stains on the wood surrounding the bathroom door, pillows that were so old the foam separated into balls. A/c & electric did not operate on the same outlet. The staff who checked us out failed to ask if we were leaving right away & to leave a key. Rather, the whole hotel was blocked into their driveway, Staff was they weren't professional about. Green The hotel is more than double what it should cost.
- Michael (10/5): - My husband and I stayed here in June and loved it. The staff were super friendly and the place was immaculate. We stayed in their Carriage House which was very clean and roomie. The mid day freshly baked cookies and breakfast was a nice plus. Easy to walk to the wharf for food and shopping. I would highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back.
- Vlasta (8/5): - Nice place to stay at.
- Francisco (8/5): - Good Breakfast walkable
- Martin (6/5): - The convenience and staff were great. It could use alittle upgrading.
- Savka (8/5): - Liked this property very much.
- samuel (10/5): - located on quiet street within walking distance to the wharf areas and restaurants. Morning continental breakfast was really good,,,,the coffee is fantastic ,,,,,,staff could not have been nicer.
- Tania (8/5): It was okay… - The inn was nice; spacious and clean. The location is excellent, as it is close to all the shops/restaurants. Continental breakfast was free and decent. My only complaint was the front desk staff, specifically Laura. They are very “strict” about parking even when the lot is not full. It is also about the way they communicate this message as they come off as condescending and rude. I travel to Newport monthly and I understand how tight the parking situation is, so I didn’t mind the instructions given. For me, it was about the attitude and tone that was shown to me specifically as opposed to other guest. With that being said… I won’t be staying at this location going forward. I don’t see this location as being inclusive.
