Guest Reviews
- Marion (10/5): - This is the 4th time we have stayed here. Room is clean with everything needed for self catering. Reception staff are very welcoming and helpful. Quiet but close to strip in one direction or lovely more relaxing bars the other direction.
- MrsM1306 (2/5): Absolutely horrendous! To say the least - My 19 year old daughter stayed here with 1 friend
Arrived to an exceptionally rude member of staff who asked why they weren’t 25?! Apparently that’s a rule - they booked through On the Beach and this was never mentioned. She then took €100 off each of them for a deposit & was very abrupt
The room was terrible!! Booked 1 bed apartment and given a studio - so dated & no bed just a settee
The pool bar was closed for the duration despite them advertising it when booking
Other than the location it’s shocking
AVOID!!
- M5613DXgaryr (2/5): Absolutely shocking. - These apartments were built in the 1970s and haven’t been updated since. They are shocking and absolutely filthy at this stage. The trees around the pool really need cutting too. Worst place by far I have ever stayed. Only good thing is there wasn’t much noise from the strip at night
- gary (2/5): - I don’t think this property has had any work done since the 1960s. Shocking
- N2967TBbeatricem (6/5): Short weekend - Nice hotel, the rooms are really spacious and equipped with kitchen and outer space. Maybe the furniture is not so modern and need an update, but overall it's ok.
Also we had a problem with the water in the room and they fixed it right away. Good position near night life!
- ludivine (6/5): - L'hôtel est vieillissant. Beaucoup d'éléments étaient cassés. Propreté correct. Mais très bonne situation géographique.
- M2381ZAmatthewh (4/5): Where do we start - we got landed in a studio with “sofa beds” which are as comfortable as the sun loungers. No air con in the room which would have looked good 30 years ago. Won’t be back. €100 deposit taken on arrival to
- donnamckittrick16 (4/5): Last minute holiday - Having visited Portugal several times and loved it, this place was disappointing. Location good close to shops restaurants etc, that was all on a positive note. Ask for €100 deposit not told why, appears this is randomly ask for having spoken to other guests. Pool bar is a walk in shop, no background music, atmosphere very poor. The nicest staff were the cleaners, only one pleasant receptionist (Van).?? I think, woman who sat behind a door at back of reception, ,appeared at times , very rude, unhelpful and walked away when we tried to make enquiries. The breakfast was very poor, had to ask for toast, as they had cereal, bread ham, cheese and 1 hard boiled egg, didn't return . Definitely not worth the money, much, much nicer places to stay.
- clarer20 (10/5): Pleasantly surprised - I have to admit I was quite worried after reading some of the negative reviews but decided that because it was only a short stay "it would do". What I found was a spotless apartment (slightly oldfashioned )it had plenty of utensils the cleaners were in 2 put of 4 days . The pool was amazing and cleaned every morning .The bar did snacks Id the culb sandwich so tasty! It is a pity the bar closes early we stayed in one evening but had to order in food. The hotel is so central but still lovely and quite.I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a reasonably priced centrally located hotel
- g0rd0nharris0n (8/5): Loved it - Stayed here for four days at the end of July.Fast, friendly check in (no deposit) and the kind receptionist escorted us to our apartment. This was spacious with a lovely big terrace facing the pool and the early morning sun was a bonus. The pool was set amongst a mature ,well kept garden and they provided free mattresses for the sun beds .We used the pool bar a couple of times & it was reasonable and tasty ,the fresh orange juice is freshly squeezed while u wait and the staff are very friendly. Also the receptionist rang to organise our return transfer as there had been a mistake, inbound.Near the strip but no noise and even though there was “younger guests “there they were very respectful and didn’t cause any trouble. We loved this place so much we are returning next year with our family so a big thank you to all the staff .
- rachelmH6495LP (6/5): Baffled by the bad reviews, great for our get away! - Me and my friend stayed here from the 24th July - 28th. We booked a ‘studio room’ self catering only, and we were surprised and pleased with what we got! We were expecting just the one room with a kitchen etc and just a bathroom, but we got a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dining and living room area and a terrace outside. This included a sofa bed and 2 beds in the bedroom.
There was NO COCKROACHES which is something I was very wary of from reading some of the reviews, and yes I did look for them, I didn’t see a single one throughout the whole trip. The apartment was clean and we were provided with clean towels and bedding everyday. Yes the apartment could have done with some updating but it was absolutely fine for what we needed it for (basically just to sleep and get ready everyday) we were only staying for a short while so didn’t plan to spend much time in the apartment anyway.
The only issue that we had was that we didn’t have any air con, but we asked at reception for a fan and they lent one to us for a small fee (€3 per day).
The hotel is in a great location (for those that wish to go to the strip it is only a very short walk down the road) for those that don’t you can get a taxi to the old town for around €6/7 euros. You didn’t hear any noise coming from the strip as it wasn’t exactly on the door step. We didn’t have any issues with stag or hen parties either. All off the staff were friendly enough and spoke English.
The pool was nice and clean also, although we didn’t spend too much time around there either. It was nice enough to use for a full day of sitting by the pool! We sat by there on our last morning and for a couple of hours of a after a day of being on the beach.
We would stay again if we wanted a cheap getaway (why wouldn’t you, you can spend more money on activities and meals and drinks etc as we did?!) our holiday was only around £250 each through on the beach!
Thank you for our stay!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location excellent, bit dated but tidy and good pool area
- alanaabell (4/5): Terrible - Dirty shower curtains stained with god knows what, Holes in the bath tub, dodgy lamps and 3 huge cockroaches! Most staff were lovely, other not bothered by our presence. Fine to stay if you don’t care about cleanliness and want to be near the strip. But be aware of the 100€ Each safety deposit!!
- B2325UCellies (2/5): Do NOT go here! - Dirty and horrible place to stay, my family stayed for 6 nights and in that space we had 4 cochroaches in our room! Staff was ok but accommodation was a 0/10. Dark, damp and smelly! Don’t go here!!!🤮
- Dontwanttospendalot (8/5): Great little place - I got worried after booking as was taking daughter for graduation pressie after reading some reviews overrun with roaches well you do find them in hot countries but only saw one and it took refuse in my sandal so would advise to check shoes prior to wearing just in case lol, staff were friendly seemed to work very long hours though rooms were cleaned daily. One comment my daughter made was she was glad she took a mirror as there was only the one in the bathroom and obviously after showering steamed up. It does take stags and hens but can honestly say it wasnt a problem each party got on with others even with the language barrier. It is a couple of minutes walk from the strip but was peaceful enough to not realise if you just wanted to chill out as we did would definitely stay again if visiting the area again if you want posh you dont get it rooms could do with updating but we had a wonderful relaxing week Obrigada to all the staff
- ipj13 (2/5): Cockroaches all over - We stayed here for two nights and from the first looks it looked like a nice hotel/apartment, especially considering the price. Soon it turned out to be a cockroach paradise. We had at least 4 cockroaches in our apartment and later at night it turned out that the hallways of the hotel were covered in cockroaches, we must have seen at least 30. Other friends who were staying at the hotel also had cockroaches in their apartments. A true nightmare.
- R_J_R_280313 (10/5): Cheap but very nice - Just stopped here for a stag do, incredibly good value...clean, nice pool and pool bar, could not grumble for the money. Very central and the staff were lovely...would recommend to stag or hen dos, probably not couples however.
- diarmuidoshea (2/5): Basic but clean - Grand hotel for the price we paid. No aircon in rooms and rooms were very dated. Showers were poor . Shop on site is a couple of things on a shelf at the back of reception . Never ate in hotel so cant comment on food. Pool was good size. Great location if in partying on the strip your after.
- looobeee (4/5): Shame the rooms so outdated - Stayed in April over Easter. Reception and Cleaning staff I must say were excellent. Location good and the apartment was cleaned daily. Pool area and Gardens well kept. However the apartment was extremely dated and needed updating and repairs to it, but as we were on a cheap and cheerful holiday it didn't greatly deter from our visit. Room 208
- SideshowbobInverness (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay in April, very friendly helpful staff, lovely pool area and gardens - Great hotel with a relaxed atmosphere , lovely pool area and gardens, the staff were so friendly and helpful. While our apartment didn't have the most modern decor , it was comfortable, had a private terrace and had everything we needed, it was cleaned everyday. Many Thanks
- Garrett1981 (10/5): WE MISS YOU ALL, CANT WAIT TO RETURN NEXT YEAR :) - Right here we go.. upon arrival we were welcomed with a lovely bottle of house wine with a nice welcome note. as we arrived quite late at night we settled in our nice (CLEAN) room. In the morning we had a good look around the complex to see what all the bad reviews were about? The staff were all friendly and polite, nice pool bar open from 9am till 6pm, good selection of drinks and snacks/hot food, pool table. The large & small pool's were spotless and cleaned daily like our room. fresh towels and loo roll every morning soaps etc, plenty of storage, safe also in the rooms for your documents/cash etc. we didn't opt for a safe but left mobiles and cash just on the table in open view but everything was just where we left it during our whole stay at the hotel. yes rooms are a little dated but always clean and comfy. what do want from a budget hotel! Great value for money without a doubt.. Located just 10 minutes walk from the lively strip or a 20 minute walk down to the seafront, ideal location. Good supermarket just round the corner with all your basic needs, bread milk teabags cigarettes and alcohol. [Reviews] Yes hot water works fantastic, both me and my wife had a shower one after the other, lovely hot water throughout! : Electricity no problems at all! : no bugs in rooms! : Bar/restaurant always open from 9am till 6pm! Please dont let the bad reviews put you off this little haven, absolutely nothing like some of reviews people have posted.. must must have stayed somewhere else?? lol
- Richard (8/5): - Great location, very helpful staff, excellent value for money. Decor is dated, but rooms are well appointed and comfortable
- EdPritchard1 (2/5): HORRIFIC DO NOT BOOK! - Just returned home from 4 nights at this hotel, the most horrific hotel I've ever stayed in. When we arrived the receptionist was all over the place with bits of paper flying around all over the place. Then she shown us to our room a studio apartment on the ground floor room 122. The beds were strangely arranged in an L shape opposed to how you'd expect to find the beds laid out.
The room was absolutely horrendous the bathroom was coveted in mould and mildew and the ceiling looked like it had been subject to a bodge job to stop it falling through. The beds were like sleeping on lumps of concrete so getting any decent sleep was impossible.
On Saturday morning I lifted the shutter on the balcony door and it fell apart in my hands so that was that done for the rest of the stay reception couldn't have been more rude or less interested if they had tried when we reported this. When my friend went to have a shave In the bathroom the water from the traps was a horrible brown/ yellow colour, and the shower was absolutely useless.
The maid when she bothers to turn up doesn't really do much she lifted a soaking wet bath mat off the floor and hung it over the bath opposed to replacing it with a fresh one.
When we checked out early Tuesday morning we complained to reception about this and the gentleman was very rude suggesting I should have checked the reviews for the hotel before I booked suggesting it was soo bad maybe I shouldn't have booked. Long story short I asked if he was going on holiday would you book this hotel??? He replied NO. That says it all.
If you want to enjoy your time In Albufeira DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!
- travel51294 (2/5): Poverty - Paid to stay in somewhere with no electricity and was told “there’s nothing I can do about it now”. No hot water. Try to complain and no one listens, they just stand there smiling. Went to get in the shower and the most disgusting brown water came out the taps. Absolute shambles of a “hotel”.
- David (10/5): Chilling - Excellent relaxing
Letti cigolanti, bagno vecchio e malandato.
- John (8/5): Nice hotel but check in was a farce - Very close to the main strip of bars but is very quiet. Had problems at check in as my family got me the holiday as a birthday present and when I arrived they wouldn’t allow me to stay unless cardholder was present. Previously Hotels.com told me to take a copy of the card and signed authority from my dad who paid for it which I did exactly as instructed and even said “paid” on the app but was a complete kerfuffle on check in. They even tried to remove the discount when they forced us to pay again, very poor check in experience.
- Jennifer (8/5): Weekend in Albufiera - Hotel was quiet and clean. Our room smelt slightly of smoke but was clean. Could do with updating. Lovely hot water. Didn't cook but everything there if we wanted to. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
- AM Travel (6/5): Nice apartment - Rooms a bit outdated but well located to shops and restaurants. Beach is a bit far to walk.
- Cailin Ard (6/5): Great location, very clean but needs upgrading - The two best things about this hotel are its location (5 mins walk to the centre of things but far enough away to be totally quiet) and the cleanliness of the rooms and the entire complex. Spotlessly clean throughout. Other than that I'm afraid the whole place is in dire need of upgrade and is old fashioned and shabby. No air conditioning wasn't a problem for us in September but any earlier in the season and I wouldn't dream of staying somewhere with no air con. I would recommend if you are on a tight budget for sure.
- IowaHawkeyes (8/5): Absolutely Great Value - It is a great value for the price. Apartment style hotel for hostel price. Its not the nicest place ever and our room didn't have air conditioning but we expected a lot worse, and maybe that's why we were surprised. We got a living room/kitchen with full appliances and dishes and a bedroom for 25 euro a person. It is a little hard to find though. There is a sign as you go up the hill of Rua de Herculano that says "Apartamentos Turisticos" It is hidden behind a stop sign a little bit, right across from the Mitoo Bar. Turn there and head down to the end of the street on the left to find the hotel office. Other than that it was such a great value for the money. About 15-20 minute walk to the beach, and about 10 minutes to the crazy night life scene.
