Guest Reviews
- Roger (8/5): Not a bad option - For the price, it was better that some others in the area. While a bit dated, the actual room was clean, AC was good, shower was hot. Did "upgrade" the room to have a microwave and refrigerator and they were useful as the location is not walking distance to dining. It was quite and never had issues with other clients.
- Jameson (2/5): AVOID AT ALL COSTS - I had a reservation for two nights, but checked out almost immediately in disgust. It was the most disgusting hotel room I had ever seen. The bathroom was so dirty there were big dark hairs on one wall, and an apparent spot of feces near the bottom of the same wall. The chair in the room was filthy, and the refrigerator didn't even work.
A charge for the entire two days, made through Hotels.com, has not been refunded by either the hotel or this site. Hotels.com does not seem to care (I left in disgust after the cancellation deadline), and the hotel manager did not respond to my message.
- Shannon (nikki) (2/5): - It was disgusting. There was poop still on the front of the toilet, the whole room was very stinky and dirty, the paint was peeling off the walls, the furniture was old and disgusting, etc.
- Celiz (2/5): - The first room we got put into had the paint coming off the walls and it smelled like mold. The second room was better but mold in the bathroom and a heavy mildew smell. No coffee maker no iron no hair dryer and missing tiles in the bathroom ceiling.
- Rachel (2/5): - place was very dirty and smelt awful. Inside was scratchy. Waited for 15 mins to get service and decided to leave.
- Renee (6/5): Not the greatest place - It wasn't bad for low cost but I wont stay there again due to being noisey at night, bad lighting in the room, toilet ran all night when I stay somewhere I want to be comfortable.
- Theresa (2/5): - The whole place look like a run down roach motel. The 1st room the tv didn't work. And they expected me to stay in that room. I had to threaten to get a refund and going to another hotel before they changed room.
- Arthur (2/5): They double charged me. - I paid in advance online through PayPal. I was told when I arrived that I needed to pay. I said I already had paid and was accused that I hadn't. I showed a paper confirmation and the receipt on my phone and finally the desk worker seemed to agree. He fumbled around entering something then gave me my key. A few minutes later he came to my room and demanded my credit card. I asked if it was for incidentals and he said it was. I specifically asked if I was being charged again and was told no. A few days later my credit card statement showed I was double charged. I disputed the charge which I probably shouldn't have done because now I am without a card until a new one arrives and I will have to switch automatic withdrawals to the new card. I called the motel and they said they wished I had called them first. They said it was a new employee and I felt I was chastised for disputing the charge. On top of that the bathroom had extensive mildew and there were two insects crawling in the tub when I went to take a shower. No offer to totally reimburse me only that I call back when I get my new credit card so they can remove the charge. It was cheap but too much hassle at any price.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Booking Error Resulted in Changing Hotels - There was an error with my booking and Hotels.com couldn’t get a hold of the hotel to sort it out. I was on the phone with Hotels.com for at least an hour and when they would call the hotel to try to get the check in confirmation and info, the phone at the hotel front desk wasn’t even ringing. I don’t know if that’s the hotels fault or Hotels.com but Hotels.com refused to let me ask the front desk person for a number to reach out too. Hotels.com then had to book me at a different hotel all together. It was a hassle and inconvenient waste of my time. Hotels.com also did not offer me a refund or any kind of discount. Very disappointing service all around.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Janky - Kind of a janky place. Not worth the cheap rate.
- Kayla (2/5): - It was was in very bad shape. Wall paper coming off, 2x4 holding up sink, holes in the carpet, curtain falling off rod, airconditioner held together with duct tape, no picutres but hangers on wall, stains on the walls, uncovered light bulb by door, fire sprinkler in bathroom wrapped in a bag.only room in the area or we wouldnt have stayed! Minus 5 stars shouldnt be listed as an option!
- Lisa (2/5): - Holes in the blankets, asked for more towels we couldn't have any until the ones we had were dirty. The lady was rude. False advertisement about the pool. I got that one because it said indoor pool. Come to find out they no longer have it but yet it's on the sign and online. The hall stinks. when I said I was checking out she just said ok took the cards and didn't say thank you for staying or didn't say have a good day didn't smile. If I could have my 186 back I would definitely take it back the stay is not worth it. I will never stay there again.
- Brandon (2/5): - I got the and the place was terrible! Cealing falling in mold in the bathtub just discussing. Was only there 15 min went to the office and told them the condition was terrible and i wanted a refund the lady actually rolled her eyes and Then proceed to argue with me about not give me A.Refund in the end , I did not get a refund and I didn't even stay there. Tried , stop charges at my bank and they still got their money. Very, very poor hotel and it's absolutely disgusting.Do not stay here and the staff is very unfriendly
- Amanda (2/5): - Everything was dirty and falling apart.
- Mike (2/5): Don't stay here! - This was the worst room I've ever stayed in. The shower nozzle and walls were covered in black mold! The room was unkept! I saw an Earwig in the bathroom! The curtains were broken! This place is straight out of a DUMP!
- Mary (6/5): Flop - The sheets were gross and stained. The towels were stained and tore. The guy at the desk was nice. The hall smelled like smoke and mold. I will never stay there again.
- Thomas (2/5): - Didn’t feel safe there. I didn’t stay.
- Daniel (4/5): - The place was clean enough but really needed some maintenance and updating. Bathroom door didn’t latch, very old and warn carpet in the hallway. The bed was very comfortable
- Chad (4/5): - Staff was unintelligent. Overnight woman at 11pm kept me out of a room for an hour because she couldn't figure out how to bring my reservation up on the computer even though i could show her emails, confirmation numbers and had her talking to Expedia staff. When i complained in the morning, they just said it's fine now, she's just old and forgets stuff!! Room for was broken, bathroom door had holes gouged in, water was brown for the first 5 seconds every time. It was quiet at least. No one wanted to stay there.
- Donald (2/5): - First holes in the walls of the hallway, duct tape over signs, a hastily made handicap ramp up from lobby level up to the ground level rooms.
My room countertop in bathroom was cutoff at an angle and had a 1x4 screwed to the end to cap it on toilet side. Bed closet to window bed spread had multiple cigarette burn holes on the top and when pulling spread back the under side had even more holes. The top sheet had a big black smudge along the top seam area, saw more than I wanted so pulled bed spread back over to cover it up. So slept with 91 year old mother in 1 bed.
When getting ready for bed pulled the one chair out from desk and discovered a needle for a syringe (still in its sterile container, luckily) laying on the seat.
- Melissa (4/5): - The room was clean for the most part. Flat pillows and only one for each of us. Need better pillows.
- Paul (2/5): Stay Away - Terrible motel. Dirty, run down, poor maintenance..
- Joseph (2/5): Oh No! - It took a huge effort by the manager Joseph to find me a clean room. His effort was the only thing that kept me from walking out.
- Jeff (4/5): - The light was missing from the fixture, the vent fell from the upper wall. The bed wasn't cleaned with dark brown stuff all over the sheet. The floor was clean and so was the bathroom. The hall smelled of pot and the staff was ok to deal with.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Hallway smelled like dog urine. - Yep, animal friendly. But someone staying way past their time has set up residence and they have a dog that seems to not be house trained. I wanted to throw up on the way to my room. Luckily the room itself was actually fine. Nothing spectacular, but it was cheap. Very dated furniture and bedding. Cigarette holes in both. But the hard wood floors were nice. Honestly stay down the road. Its cleaner. But the whole street is under construction and makes the whole area undesirable.
- Dean (8/5): I got my money’s worth. - The only negative was, the microwave in room 130 didn’t work. And cigarette smoke in the hallways which isn’t your fault. Only security cameras would curtail that.
- Kris (8/5): - Nice clean room. Recently painted, new flooring.
Hotel staff friendly and accommodating.
- Jessica (2/5): - Super sketchy, walked in and felt the immediate need to check for bugs. No toiletries or much of anything. Tiny TV. Noticable patches in walls - slapdash repairs. Stayed 20 mins while booking another place and heard every thing. Walls were like paper. Wouldnt be surprised if police raided it looking for drugs.
- Elizabeth D (4/5): - Bathroom was horrible. Shower curtain red with mildew and mold. Bed was comfortable but pillows were horrible. Filthy carpet. But the office staff was very helpful in person and on the phone.
- Heather (2/5): - Ok
- Verified traveler (2/5): - When I arrived two different families were at the front desk with complaints of cockroaches in their rooms. I immediately left and didn’t want to risk it.
- Randall (2/5): Unsafe for families. Stay at risk. - Smelled of smoke, weed, drugs. Broken toilet, stained sheets, sheets weren't replaced between guests, hair on towels. Floors looked like never vacuumed. Parking lot was filled with abandoned broken cars, no locks on any side or back entrance. We were afraid for our safety. We decided to skip staying and found a different hotel 2 hours down the road. We paid nonrefundable $97 to sleep few hours but seemed very unsafe for our family. They should advertise it as not for families.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This hotel was disgusting and management was horrible to deal with. Do not stay here!!
- Abbie (2/5): Nasty - Worse spot ever
- Leslie (2/5): Only if desperate - Beds not made. Stains on bed and towels.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - A
- Marlene (4/5): - The room smelled like cat urine. The electrical outlet did not work. The lamps did not work. Everything was old and worn down. If it wasn't late and not prepaid. I would've left but I was tired and I had to just tolerate everything.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Under construction
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Was very nice the vending machine had good selction
- Faith (4/5): - Nasty but thank GOd I was able to get a full refund due to their door locks were not working.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Not clean, room secutity lacking, check in not the best
- Kim (4/5): Not the best - Outside is dark not enough lights. Tried to walk my dog and there is shattered glass needles etc all around.
- JEFFREY (2/5): Nightmare on N.E. 14TH ST - It was terrible. The lady at the front desk was so poor on customer service skills, I don't know how she ever got that job
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I t was close to where I wanted to go and I had two good places to eat within walking distance. they are still remodeliong
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This place was so nasty, the entire hotel smelled like smoke, it was filthy, there was hair in the bed on the sheets, it was just plain nasty....
- RiDi (4/5): - We asked for extra pillows and towels and they responded with “we don’t have any extras”! We also asked for a smoking room, and after he smoked, we saw the sign on the front door that said non smoking. The hotel assured us that we wouldn’t be charged any additional fees for smoking in the room. Our reservation even confirmed a smoking room. The shower was “mickey moused” as they had a tub spout coming out of the wall at the top and the shower head was connected to that. Very cheesy to say the least. We would not recommend this hotel at all.
- Amber (2/5): - Horrible management
- Na (2/5): - My room smelled like urine, and exterminators let themselves in to spray for bugs 5 minutes after check in.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I want a refund. I was not expecting much. It this place should not even be open.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The towels had stains, and there were bugs in the bathroom. The room's walls had parts that needed to be painted, or have unused screws removed.
- Jamie (6/5): - I got a call the day of check in asking if we were coming or they'd be giving the rooms up that I booked online weeks in advance. When we got there the place wasn't even busy, so I don't know why they felt the need to make the call in the first place. It was run down, unclean and unkempt. Front desk lady was not the nicest. And the 2 rooms I reserved, they put on complete opposite ends of each other.
- CC (2/5): - This was more of a place for people who have no home and they rent a Room here. It was gross, slimy feeling, Holes in the ceiling and the walls. The bedding was thin and felt very old. There were cockroaches in the rooms and one of our 3 rooms reeked of cat urine. I do not understand how certain properties are allowed to post that they have rooms available on a national platform such as Expedia when they are not of any quality to be rented. My credit card was charged immediately, however, the girl at the counter could not authorize the refund back to my card as that could only be done by a manager who will not be in until Monday.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Really run down. Tv and refrigerator ran on same LIGHT SWITCH!!! Door locks 2 outta 3 didnt work
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I only stayed til 4 am i coukdnt sleep... the beds were uncomfortable, the walls and floor need fixed up. There is cockroaches every where. We payed 95 dollars for the worse hotel stay i have ever haf and i will not be goikg back, thats for sure.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Don't go here - This place should be condemned.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - dirty and like no cups like a regular hotel. no free breakfast no alarm clock.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It is okay to get to things. Manager and front desk was nice and friendly. House keeping was bad. Left dirty bedding piled on bed and unmade. Left food in refridgarator . Toilet was leaking, walls need pained, handicap ramp steep four boards, sink screen missing shoots water, and electric outlet exsposed,
- Steven (4/5): - The toilet had worms in the water, no lid on the back well. Maybe drain fly larvae? The entire building was in poor condition. However, the staff was VERY friendly, kind, and timely. Bed was comfy & ac worked.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This location was not clean and had a dirty funky smell to it. It's long overdue for some updates and security increases. My room looked half-way deconstructed or incomplete with exposes sheet rock, duct tape on the phone, and multiple paint colors and holes in the wall. The lock didn't work on the door, which given the neighborhood, was pretty concerning. I checked in, went to my event with a friend, and decided to forego my stay because I did not feel safe at this property.
- Dennis (4/5): Not good - This entire place smelled like mold. The carpet inside the room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly and the sheets were not totally clean. I saw a small blood stain on the sheet. I wouldn’t stay there again.
- Tara (10/5): - Very nice staff house keeping is very good location is great and the price is reasonable
- Austin (2/5): - The facility is dirty holes in the wall , tile broken and missing in the ceiling, no soap or wash towels and the rooms have a really bad odor
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Theres nothing really good about this property. The room had roaches and god knows what else. They offer no refunds at all. I didnt even stay in the room. It was absolutely disgusting.
- Sri (2/5): - Worst Motel have ever stayed.
I'm traveling so I just checked in for just a night I was looking some cheap hotels actually this wasn't that cheap it's 73$ tho I would recommend this if it's 50$ but it was overpriced for what it had. Skip this for your own Benefit.
Charging ports doesn't work none of them were working I couldn't able to charge my Phone. They don't even have towels I have to ask them for that and no soaps and no proper services only stay there if you don't really have any other option.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel is very run down. No shampoo. Plywood ramp going up the stairs. No sink stopper, all the doors either broken, no room numbers on the soom of the rooms and lock not working.
- Tara (10/5): - nice service close to places good price on room nice staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): - They are in the process of updating and remodeling but the stay was just fine
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Staff was polite. The property itself is ready for the bulldozer.
- Don’t (2/5): - Prolly the dirtiest hotel in town. In disrepair. And they want more then what the rooms worth each night.
- Daniel (2/5): Should be dropped from hotel list - This hotel is for weekly or monthly rentals and is very poor condition. Rooms not cleaned no pillowcase trash left in room
- Jody (8/5): - Easy to find, staff friendly, helpful,& informative
- Julie (4/5): - Not too impressed. Loud neighbors. Tv didn't work...half the lights didn't work in our room. Not too friendly staff. Definitely won't be back
- Luka (2/5): Not for kids - Do not book here! It was so gross... stinky and dingy. Cigarette and pot smoke. No pool like they claim online. We promptly left. Not a good hotel for a family.
- Amy (6/5): - It was probably the worst hotel I’ve ever been to. The towels and sheets were dingy, the floor was sticky, the air vent in the bathroom was covered in dust, and the door barely locked.
- Ronda (2/5): - The place was a mess! The locks on the doors did not work. The deadbolt did not work. There was stains on the bed, walls, and floor. There was mold in the shower. We slept on top of sheets and did NOT take a shower. The sink was unlevel and mold in there also. We used our disposable water bottles to brush our teeth. That was the worst motel ever. There was not a pool like it said. There was a napkin on the floor in the hallway with blood on it. If there was another motel available that night i would have left. For $95 a night, this was the worst motel ever! There was a guy that stopped my daughter and het friend when she went back to car to get sometthing. Very scarey oart of town. I told her to get up here now. Not that the door would lock to help us, but we were together.
- Mike (8/5): - Hotel in need of some upgrades but if you are looking for a not expensive place to rest your head then it's more than sufficient.
- Ronn (2/5): Nastiest room ever - The room was so bad we just left. It was worth the $70 we had to pay to not risk our health.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Old dirty very dirty not secure or safe would advise anyone to stay there unless you are desperate
- Carmen (2/5): - Staff was ok. The bed sheets were stained. Rooms smelled and not the cleanest
- Cody (2/5): - Loud, noisy, trashy, and smelly
- Verified traveler (2/5): crappy and waste of money - every room they switched us to was dirty or other issues
- Mrs. (2/5): - Fasle advertisement!!!!!!Can I get a refund the hotel was nasty the bed sheets were nasty the floor was nasty the room stink no pictures on the wall no pool like they said it was it looked abandoned when you pull up to it,you flush the toilet and nasty water come out of the tub. 70$ is to much to pay for this place it need to be fix or shut down. Is there away to get my money back. The website say one thing but you you get there it's a night mare.
- Steven (8/5): - Good location, easy access to many things, right off the freeway. They are remodeling the rooms so should be really nice soon, my room didn't have a desk is only real complaint, but for what it is, it's a really nice stay with great restaurant next door.
- angelagE6026BX (2/5): Infested with Bugs!!! - Booked this room last minute on a long road trip. Took forever to find the building because the name on the sign in their parking lot didn't match the name on Hotels.com. The instant we pulled up we noticed the ply wood covering at least one window in every room but we went in anyway. The front desk attendant was friendly but she had us check out the room before checking us in, that should have been the red flag to make us leave but we lugged our bags upstairs (no elevator) and went in the room. We were in there for about 60 seconds before cockroaches started crawling all over the walls in the room and on the floor in the bathroom. We hightailed it back downstairs and the lady was not surprised at all about the bugs and didn't offer a different room or any other solution. She assured us we wouldn't be charged so we left as fast as possible and found a different hotel. Aside from the bugs, the place was extremely run down, dirty, and overall disgusting. This place should be condemned, at the very least I think Hotels.com might want to remove it from their offerings because it really is a dump and not even worth the $51/night they were charging.
- rheinboh (2/5): DO NOT BOTHER!!!!! - Booked through hotels.com, got off work from a hospital at 3am, no one will answer the phone, or is working to check me in. Banged on the door for half hour. Ended up having to leave and find another room. HORRIBLE!!!!!!!
- sugarbearmama (2/5): Do not stay here - Nasty. Cock roaches. No ac and its 93 degrees. And there's no pool. Its hot. They don't fix things. They are rude. I only ustayed a couple of days. I plan on calling the health department and possibly suing for false advertisement.
- MelB2545 (2/5): Do not stay here, keep driving! - We were driving to Colorado from PA and planned on stopping over in Des Moines on our first night of the trip. After driving all day, we booked the Extend A Suite hotel through Priceline.
When we got off the exit we could not find the hotel as there was no sign out front. We called and the front desk had no idea who we were/did not have our reservation but gave directions anyway.
We pull into the parking lot and immediately knew something was off. There were maybe 3 cars and some seedy looking guys outside sauntering around with beverages in brown paper bags, smoking cigarettes. We were immediately sketched out but pulled around back and decided to check it out.
We left our car and hesitantly walked in the back door, through the hotel, to the front desk and along the way we saw doors cracked open with barely clothed people inside, dirty carpets, cigarette smoke everywhere, and you could even see from the outside that some curtains were pulled down off of the windows in the rooms.
When we made it to the front desk the women at the counter were in street clothes and shot us a "what are you doing here" kind of look. We explained that we had booked a room on Priceline but they couldn't find the reservation, thank goodness, so we thanked them and bolted out of there. I could not get out of there fast enough.
I am not a picky person when it comes to hotels but this place felt straight up dangerous. My best assumption is that this place is some kind of drug den/hang out for local ne-er-do-wells. I would not under any circumstances recommend that anyone set foot inside this place, let alone spend a night there. Just keep going!!
- PokerPro2015 (2/5): Dirty, Disgusting and unpleasant staff - After a 24 hour drive and barely getting any sleep driving up from the West Coast we stumbled upon the Extend a Suites, the lady at the desk was very nice and helpful, it was around 12 am. She told me that we needed to look at the room because they did not offer refunds. The first room I looked at looked clean however the TV was on and one of three beds wasn't made properly. So I checked out another room and it appeared clean and would've been sufficient. I booked for four nights and within 5 minutes of paying and realizing we had to leave the 4th night I booked I called the front desk and told them that I had made a mistake and only needed 3 nights as we would be leaving the 4th day. She informed me that there were no refunds and I had assumed in my sleep deprived state that only converted satisfaction not that they would charge me for a night that I couldn't stay if I wanted to. I was told to talk to the manager Monday as she could offer a refund. I talked to the manager and she said it was out of her hands and she couldn't offer a refund if she wanted to.
Aside from the fact that they wouldn't refund my money for the night we couldn't stay the place is disgusting. Carpets are filthy, it looks like they have never vacuumed the hall ways, or entrance ways. We had a lamp in our room where the power cord was cut, roach traps everywhere, stained towels, peeling paint, the deadbolt didn't lock, the safety lock fell off the wall, the other unit had a refrigerator and this one didn't so they brought us one which was disgusting... I was told not to use the ice machine as roaches were in there. The place is so run down and with little work it could actually be a decent place it just appears that management / three owners don't care.
I would rather break the bank than stay here ever again!
- koph (10/5): great service friendly clean rooms - when I checked in they were friendly and greeted me at the door with a smile they said if you need anything we're here 24 hours 7 days a week when I got my room is very clean. Cleaning service is very good they're friendly they always stop and smile at you and talk to you
- 657lindseyl (10/5): wanted say Thank You - I just wanted to take a minute to say Thank You to Sharon and the staff here at Extend a Suites.
So ive been staying here for around a month with my husband and our 7 yr old son. And holidays are ruff for our family, my father in law passed thanksgiving last year, and my parents passed 6 yrs ago. So holidays are sad and lonely for us. We would of spent Thanksgiving alone in our room, but thanks to Mrs Sharon and her kind loving heart all the familys and guests here spent it together celebrating and eating some awesome food. Never in a million years would I expected to be shown this kind of love. So our family shared Thanksgiving with an awesome lady, manager, friend, and now family. With all our heartache came great peace! Knowing there are good people still out there. So from my family to yours THANK YOU Mrs. Sharon!!! IT was the best Thanksgiving in years!!
- robertmD2439EY (2/5): Place should not be in business - When I arrived at the hotel, there was no soap in the room and a dead bug on the floor. The television was even on. It would seem that the room was not cleaned from the last guest. I arrived late and just went to sleep. The next day I could not shower. The bathtub filled with water, never drained, and there was no hot water. I complained and they stated I would have to wait until the next day to have my grievances heard. I left without being able to shower and the only cleaning I could do was in cold water, in the winter time, where I was lucky I did not catch pneumonia. They provided only a partial refund, but that is acceptable. Nobody contacted me about fixing the problem after I first made the complaint. This is the worst place I ever have stayed and I will NEVER EVER stay here again!
- Mamaboys3 (10/5): Friendly and helpful staff all day long. - I just have to say that the reviews that have been left are not all accurate. The manager Melinda has been on the phones to make this hotel a very nice living area. I am a mother of 3 boys and have been living here for almost two months now. The housekeepers have a schedule and my room is cleaned twice a week and if I ever needed anything in between the days they come to my room then I go to the front desk and ask for it and get it. I have been at the front desk when the manager Melinda has been on the phone with the female of corporate and ordered stuff for the hotel. The manager has not received anything she has ordered. I am not ashamed to give you my name. My name is Jacke and I enjoy my stay here because of Melinda, Evelyn, and the the house keeper Debra. They make the stay here worth it.
- 893leslieg (2/5): Nasty - DIRTY!they Never vacuum halls/ stairs. I seen a used condom, bloody kotex , and a big butcher knife along with other trash in parking lot. Walked in the bathroom to see cock roach on my kids toothbrush. .. and there is many more roaches here too. Sick!!!
- gegenjame (2/5): DONT STAY HERE.. - We came to Des Moines over Valentine's weekend and decided to stay at this motel. The outside does not reflect inside. When we pulled in it looked nice outside. We entered the lobby and still looked nice but it all went to hell after that. The staff MAY LOOK FRIENDLY but looks can be deceiving. Check in sign says 2pm it was after 4 pm before we were able to check in. The room we were given was in dire need of repair. The carpets were ripped, beds are well a joke, the hot water WAIT what hot water.... Heat is only lukewarm, the door didn't lock properly no security locks on door.
Went to lobby to talk with employee about room and overheard manager yelling at a housekeeping employee.
We will NOT stay at this motel ever again. I'd sleep in my car first.
- lovemonkeysd (2/5): The answer is no. Do not stay here. - The majority of the reviews for this hotel are correct. This is a horrible hotel. It basically seems like this is a hotel built in the 1960s and nothing has been done in the way of maintenance since then. Doors and windows are broken. The shower/tub is falling apart. The non-smoking room smelled like smoke. One positive thing was the water stayed a constant temperature while showering. The pictures were taken right before checking out. When the sign on the door says the maximum room rate is $85, that says something about the hotel. Normally they say something like $250 max.
- darcym2014 (2/5): TOTAL HEALTH HAZARD - DON'T STAY HERE EVER!!! - We rented a room at this disgusting hotel. Our first clue should have been when the gal at the front desk said "Do you want to look at your room before you pay for it? If you don't inspect it, you can't get your money back." I thought it was a weird request, but never imagined what we would walk into.
The room smelled like cat urine to the point I almost puked. No sheets on the bed, only a dirty foam mattress pad. The bathroom was filthy with scum on top the water in the toilet and the sink was not clean whatsoever. There was stains all over the bed and walls and chairs with no cushions. I wouldn't be surprised if a homicide had occurred in the room.
We did not stay at the room and left and I reported it to the health department. Totally disgusting!!! This place should be condemned.
- briann59 (2/5): If you want the definition of terrible then you found it - In 30 years of being on the road this has to be the worst one yet and somehow it is allowed to remain open, I know state inspection is lacking but in the state capital. Booked online and according to the pictures it looked ok and thought the reviews were just some upset people but they are right. Broken doors, windows that you could fall out of that have no latches on them. No stoppers in the sinks or bath, no cold water for if you turned it on it ran all over the floor, metal fan right above the shower and from the looks of it no ground faults in the wiriing, Yes we informed the front desk of the problems and nothing for the 11 days of filth we stayed there for the fair. Couple beat up lights, small refrigerator ran hot and cold ruined the food, microwave had not been cleaned since they installed it crust and stuff in there. Drapes half falling off the hangers, the carpet had been so filthy for so long that it was glossy. Garbage never emptied and overflowing by the doors or just left in the hallways. Kids went to the pool and too scared of the conditions to trust it. Hard to describe the beds and coverings just cringe when I sit here to type this. All of our clothes are being washed in hot water after going through the luggage and clothing once we got home.
- 334CHRISTINEW (2/5): DO NOT STAY - We stayed here on August 14, 2013. It was awful. We got to the hotel at 11:10 p.m., and we did not get into our room until just before midnight. The front desk lady would not tell us what was going on - she just kept trying to call the manager. They had our reservation in the system, but they did not have a room ready for us. The manager had to go check out our room to see if it was ready. It wasn't, so she had to make the beds. Why in the world were the beds not made during the day???? This is during the Iowa State Fair which should be their busiest time of the year. We finally get a room and the manager says she'll just write down my card number so I don't have to wait. HECK NO! I wouldn't let her write it down - told her I'd rather wait. What was she thinking. The room was terrible. The locks on the door were broken. There was pink slime on the night stand. The TV only got one channel. There were 2 towels in the room for 4 people. I was incredibly happy to get out of here the next day. DO NOT STAY HERE. Never again for us.
- KatieB68123 (2/5): Most disgusting place I've seen...EVER - Don't waste your money or time checking into this hole in the wall. It is the worst experience EVER. Hotel room was filty. Even had a booger on the wall to complete the rest of the filth. The pool area was the most digusting pool I've seen. Mold bacteria and whatever else growing everywhere. I demanded my money back a short time after checking in and paid the extra 20 bucks a night to stay at the motel 6. At least it was clean and we could actually use the pool. This place should be ashamed to charge people anything to stay here. It should be SHUT DOWN!!!!
- 821kevind (2/5): Stay Away. Far, far away. - Listed as a 3 star. Barely a one star
Dirty, dingy, nasty everywhere. Found garbage left on top of microwave and behind entertainment system. Very rundown looking everywhere. Door doesn’t close well. Very little maintenance of the building. Very dark looking interior, poor lighting. Windows very dirty, screen is out and has holes in it. Rooms not sound proof. Wall socket half out of wall. Light switch knob missing on one light.
Smoke detector has been removed for the room.
One outlet half hanging off wall.
Return from the day and A/C not working.
Positive- Refrigerator works well.
Bathroom was dirty upon arrival.
The WIFI was not working
Free continental breakfast? Yeah bagels, bread and cereal. bagels gone before 730. Not fully stocked for all patrons.

Returned from a day at the fair to take showers, asked for 5 towels, they were out. they delivered 2 towels about 2 hours later.
