X2381OHmartind (4/5): Didn’t live upto the expectation - This hotel was recommended to me by my friend from Aberdeen. Booked through their own website pictures do not match the rooms. In an excellent location just outside the train station. Some of the rooms need a bit of TLC. First room I got booked in was terrible. No headboard for bed, toilet cistern held together by duct tape, big massive crack in the toilet window with no safety tape put on it, water flowed over from sink and took forever to drain and no USB sockets but they do have adapters available. I ended up upgrading to a different room which after the complaint I thought the hotel might of covered but no I had to pay out of pocket. Room was a lot better and the only issue is with a little step up to the bathroom and no notice to say please mind the step. Made reception aware of this and was told it would be passed onto management. Breakfast was ok nothing to write home away as a lot of the stuff was just luke warm. A lot of staff were speaking to other guests but no one spoke to me during my time dining. I had no trouble sleeping and barely heard any noise. They do provide complimentary ear plugs if you do need them.

555maureenb (6/5): Nice Hotel - My husband and I recently stayed at the Station Hotel, Aberdeen to celebrate my birthday. The Hotel was very central to where we wanted to be, with restaurants, bars and theatres all in close proximity. We stayed in a Superior Room and it was very nice, dressing gowns and slippers etc. provided. Breakfast was buffet style, hot and cold and okay. The only observation I would make is that check in time was 3pm, we arrived early at 2pm and although our room was ready, if we wanted to check in early we would require to pay £10.00 for the privilege of doing so. This is the first time that we have come up against this. We declined to pay the £10.00 and went for a coffee instead.
andyrB3499HZ (6/5): Disappointed - I booked a room with a walk-in shower due to my wife’s mobility problems, when I arrived I was given a room on the third floor with a small bathroom with the shower over the bathroom. Although the room was clean and newly painted (by the smell) it was very basic and the furniture was very dated. Only mirror was in the bathroom and absolutely no heating working during our stay. The staff were all very friendly and helpful I’ve got to say.
358_ukaszj (4/5): Disappointing stay - Disappointing stay – poor conditions and lack of professionalism I’m writing this review to share my honest experience, as unfortunately my stay did not meet even basic expectations. The main issue was the condition of the room. The bathroom had visible mould (although the staff claimed it was not mould – I will attach photos so others can judge for themselves). The overall bathroom condition was poor and far from what I would consider acceptable. The room itself was also very cold. There was a noticeable gap in the window frame, which likely contributed to the temperature problem. Additionally, the lighting was inadequate – there was no proper main light, only wall lamps and bedside lights, which made the room feel dim and uncomfortable. When I initially raised these concerns and asked for a room change, the only solution offered was two portable heaters. No room change was provided at that point. Only after I contacted Booking support and made a formal complaint did the situation change. The reception then offered a room change – but only for the next day, meaning I could move rooms only on the last day of my stay, after a prolonged and unnecessary back-and-forth. What was particularly disappointing was the attitude of the hotel manager. He insisted that the standard of the rooms was the same and did not acknowledge any issue. I did not receive any apology during the entire process. Booking support, on the other hand, reviewed the situation and confirmed that the room I received did not match the standard presented online. As a result, I was granted a £50 refund, which speaks for itself. In summary, the biggest issue was not only the condition of the room, but also the lack of accountability and professionalism from the hotel management. The situation was only resolved thanks to external intervention. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.
gracecR1399VH (2/5): Appalling - Booked and paid for the Kincardine Room for my husband's funeral tea, paid for top buffet, plus one bottle sauvignon blanc, one bottle pinot Grigio, one bottle of prosecco, checked my bank account tonight they are taking an extra £50 . I can't get an explanation as to why. Do not use this place.
sammies469 (8/5): Lovely weekend stay in Aberdeen - Hotel is in such a central location in Aberdeen just 2 minutes from the train station and bus station. Hotel is clean and tidy and the staff are excellent with a great atmosphere in the hotel. The rooms are nice but some are in need of an upgrade however I was speaking to the Hotel Manager who was telling me of his plans for the year.for the price I would suggest paying the difference to upgrade. Breakfast was also lovely and we look forward to our next visit.

Great value - Booked the station hotel in Aberdeen for a 2 night stay as we had a meet and greet event at the tivoli theatre, and as this hotel is just a 2 min walk from the theatre this was the perfect location for our trip On arrival we were meet by a lovely cheery receptionist , who gave us a complimentary upgrade Arrived at the room ( massive) large king size bed ( it was two singles that were bracketed together making a huge bed, only little niggle you could feel the little dip that this causes when it is 2 beds together for one ) Large walk in shower Wardrobe with ironing board and iron , 2 bathrobes Large flat screen tv, small inbuilt fridge Kettle, tea coffee even hot chocolate sachets There was a slight lack of drawer space for items, there was shelves in wardrobe which we used for socks etc Only a few hangers , as we were attending theatre we had suit carriers so our clothes had additional hangers so we didn't require extra, I don't see an issue if we did need more as receptionist couldn't have been more helpful when we checked in Bathroom could had benefited by having a little shelf, as no where other than the sink to place any toiletries We had the high tea menu on Thursday evening, as we had to be at theatre for 18.00. 2x fish and chips Selection of scones and cakes Pot of tea that was replaced when cakes came out Bill was £36 ( service charge included in bill ) Fish was lovely, nice size and very fresh Didn't get a chance to photograph the cakes , ate them and then remembered. But the were fantastic Breakfast each morning is self serve, and did get busy on our second day with people coming in from both ends and kind of getting stuck in the middle of each other, hot drinks machine right at the end of service area and again on our second morning was a little congested. The hotel does have a sign up with what times are busier than others so please check this if you are here 2nd night used the all day menu 1 lemonade 1 pint of John smiths 1 curry 1 steak frites 1 stick toffee pudding 1 apple slice Was busy in restaurant ( we did book ) was seated quickly, took around 20 mins to get order taken just due to the two staff that were on were trying to deal with food coming out, clearing tables, and having to get people waiting to pay. The meals were lovely, small criticism the apple slice was ok, but needs a good serving of custard not sorbet ( only my opinion ) as it was more like something you would have with a cup of tea. Service was a little slow between courses, even though most of the backlog had been cleared, but nothing to overly be concerned about Total bill was £84 ( with service charge on ) There is a 12.5 % service charge added to your bill, this is on the menu, and to be fair when I went to pay you get a small printout with what you have had, the waiter also pointed out the service charge and said he would happily remove it this was shown and explained on both evenings. We had a lovely stay ( first time using the station in Aberdeen) All the staff were superb, very friendly We will return
vanessacO522FX (10/5): Lovely old character hotel in Aberdeen - The hotel was lovely and charming. Great staff members who will help wherever they can. We stayed on the 5th floor and the room was lovely. Rooms can get cold however they have radiators on hand if you need. I understand due to the age of the building but some guests were angry about this. We ate in the restaurant and the food was really nice. Service was good but you can tell some staff were new. Next time I visit Aberdeen we will defiantly stay again
helensN7638RR (10/5): Lovely historic old hotel - Just back from a lovely 5 days at the Station Hotel Aberdeen and what a lovely charming building with a great team. Checked into a lovely large room which was furnished really well. Staff were very friendly and would do anything to help you. Food in restaurant was lovely and breakfast in morning was also very food selection Yes there is areas that are leaking but it’s an old 1800 building what do you expect! We will defiantly be back on our next visit
jonjan231 (2/5): NO STAFF,NO FISH,NO CLUE - My wife and myself went here on 16 January 2026 with 7 friends.The location of the hotel was ideal, literally 30 seconds from the railway station.We had a superior room,which was nice and clean and comfortable although the was no hairdryer as advertised.The service was atrocious, although it did seem to us as if the hotel was desperately short of staff.Before dinner we had to wait about 15 minutes to get a drink in the bar,then, at dinner the service was poor,very poor.Three members of our party ordered fish,which we were eventually told that they had no fish left.We were in Aberdeen for goodness sake,NO FISH!!! A single member of our party ordered steak,medium rare,and was told he couldn't have it cooked like that.Apparently you can't have it like that in Scotland.No desert menu was offered and the drink we ordered for the table never came,although we have since found out that the drink had been charged to our friends credit card.Absolutely disgraceful.Please,please,please.....if you are traveling to Aberdeen stay elsewhere.
Jomoabz (6/5): Fine if you stay on the ground floor - Visited as a day guest for a meeting. The ground floor area has obviously been refurbed recently and is lovely. The restaurant area is also very pleasant and the lunch we received was delicious. However, the conference room was cold, there was a bucket of stagnant water from a leak in the corner and our tea and coffee was delivered stone cold. There was a pane of the secondary glazing completely missing which made the room bitterly cold. Staff did bring some additional heaters but the majority of us spent the day in our coats. Could be better.
helensF2320MV (10/5): Christmas party at the station - Stayed at the hotel and had our work Christmas party at the hotel! We had an excellent night and the staff did an excellent job! The room was set up great and the food was good. I decided to stay the night to make it easier after the party and the room was spotless clean and mattress comfy and for £55 I couldn’t complain. Would definitely recommend!
sandis6fan (6/5): If I go back to Aberdeen I would try a different hotel - The rooms are forgettable and have radiators but the windows don't open. This was an issue because the radiators were turned way up. Luckily my friend figured out how to turn them off because the first night I couldn't sleep as it was so hot. When I called the front desk to ask what to do, I was told the rooms had central air (not correct obviously) but I was provided a fan which helped a little. The front desk staff is average and does not acknowledge you as you walk by but the breakfast is good and the staff there are lovely. There is onsite parking for £10/night but you still might get a parking ticket. I called the hotel and they said they are taking care of this, but it is currently unresolved. The hotel is across the street from a nice mall with some good Italian restaurants and Krispy Kreme kiosks.

louisecI4601FV (8/5): A visit to Aberdeen - I stayed at the hotel while my grandson was being born the first two nights were amazing the room was beautiful. Unfortunately I had to extend my stay and was moved to a different room I was very happy with the hotel trying to accommodate my extended stay but unfortunately the room wasn't worth what it cost. It was supposed to be a deluxe room but it was far from it. The wall paper was torn the furniture in the room looked like it had been hit with a hammer. There were only 3 plug points and only one mirror in the bathroom no other mirrors in the room so made it difficult for drying and styling hair. The room was clean the bathroom was clean but did need a few bits sorted. The staff and the atmosphere were lovely really could not fault them. I would stay again, just not in that room, the other room was definitely worth the price.
alanbI3837CO (4/5): Room 209 - Avoid!! - We know from previous stay, in a Double room, that the public areas are very tidy and buffet breakfast is good. We booked a Twin this time and it was extremely disappointing..very tired with curtain hanging off rail, peeling paint on radiator and walls, ancient furniture that a charity shop would reject, not many power sockets..poorly located, over-bath shower which is dangerous to enter..anti-slip mat provided and once in, the shower was lovely and powerful. One of the worst rooms we have stayed in for a long time!! This would be 1 star rating but the very comfy bed deserved an extra star. Work ongoing to modernise the Fire alarm system was good to see too. After reading other reviews, too late, I would agree that it is reasonable to ask for a renovated room.
O1627FPhannahg (2/5): Disappointing to say the least. - We recently arranged a party at the Station Hotel on November 1st for a group of 25 people, with a pre-ordered menu as requested. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Upon arrival, there were no staff members present to provide service or guidance, and throughout the evening, we experienced long delays—on some occasions waiting up to 45 minutes for drinks. The bar was poorly stocked, with many items listed on the menu unavailable, including Tennents, lemonade, several spirits, and non-alcoholic options. This left us with very limited choices. The quality of the food was also below expectations; the Chicken Maryland, for instance, was overcooked and difficult to eat. In addition, communication between staff members seemed disorganized—after placing drink orders, we were repeatedly asked if we wanted more drinks, even though our original orders had not yet arrived. As regular customers who often visit the hotel for lunch on weekends, we were genuinely disappointed. We had high expectations based on the hotel’s usual standards and its reputation, but the level of service and professionalism on this occasion fell short. We hope that improvements are made. I don’t think we will be returning. To make matters worse, a 25% service charge was automatically added to the bill — which came to over £800. Given the level of service received, this charge felt completely unjustified and frankly unreasonable. We hope management takes this feedback seriously and makes improvements.
41val (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Great stay, my 3rd time staying, this time in room 324, great room plenty space, only downside was stains on carpet. Staff so friendly, had high tea both nights, was lovely but both nights never got the toast with it.
Steven (4/5): - Reception area nice and friendly reception staff.bar staff also nice and friendly ..rooms very tired and in poor condition..Also the cleaner didn’t pay attention to the do not disturb sign and banged on our door early after a night out I’m presuming to see if it was empty to clean ..location was good and the price was cheap so I suppose you pay for what you get . Probably won’t be returning though due to the terrible bed and overall room condition.
sarahsW811DA (10/5): Excellent food and stay and great value for money! - Couldn’t stay in last hotel (the Rox) as it was not clean and smelt really bad so moved to the Station Hotel Aberdeen which was the only reasonable priced hotel around the area. Check inn nice and efficient and staff were lovely! Upgraded me to deluxe room on 5th floor. Room was modern and clean with no bad smell! Bed was extremely comfortable however the seagulls are annoying but nothing hotel could do there. Food in evening and at breakfast was lovely and would definitely stay next time in Aberdeen. Thank you for looking after us!

Roving43216870265 (10/5): Good value, good location - Old grand station hotel in the Victorian style just next to the railway. Very quiet in the evening when we were there. Pleasant, helpful staff and generally good value. Fairly uncomplicated fare in the restaurant but well priced and good value too. Pool table at the back of the bar which was in very good condition. The room was not that big but adequate, clean and comfortable. There is parking at the side and the back, but limited and a little dilapidated and looked uncared for. It was full when we arrived, but there is another public, paying car park immediately adjacent which was not that expensive. Breakfast in the morning was a lot busier, curiously, and was pretty good.

Jane (8/5): - This was a nice hotel, quite traditional and it made a nice change from the usual cheaper hotels with no personality! The front desk team were really helpful and friendly. I paid for the upgrade and although my room was nice, it was really small but had a large shower room that was lovely. Bit chilly though - could have done with a heater in the bathroom. Stormy weather meant the bathroom window leaked and resulted in my toiletries being soaked so I had to ask for spare towels from reception.
Angela (4/5): A poor first impression of Aberdeen - The hotel is conveniently close to the train station in Aberdeen city centre, with a car park at the back. I had trouble knowing which car park to park in as it was dark when i arrived, there is no lighting and signage non existent. Car parking bays are not marked out and as the car park is a strange shape it was difficult to determine how to park. Unbeknown to me there is a £10 per night additional charge to park, this in my opinion for the condition of the car park is unacceptable. I believe they have another car park and the one I parked in is an overflow car park. However this first car park which does have marked bays and lighting was full. It is a small car park and very tight to maneuver as i discovered when i ventured to see if there was a space. The hotel foyer and reception area is welcoming, staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant area looked pleasant. The room we had was very tired looking with a large window that at first I thought was open because the draught and noise was so bad. The windows are clearly very old and inefficient. The hotel did provide earplugs in the room, but if like me you can't use them, this is not the hotel for you. The shower in our room was cold unless you turned the water flow right up. Breakfast at a weekend isn't served until 7.30am but as we needed to leave at 7am we had to leave on empty stomachs. I would not recommend this hotel unless youre happy with cheap and cheerful and are can sleep in noisy environments.

Have not been able to sleep any night of our stay , on our final night they have music from downstairs blaring till past midnight , every night people shouting running through the halls and banging doors and walls throughout the night , really not happy , came with a baby and really wouldn’t recommend for families as his routine is totally disrupted and none of us can sleep

Window in the room rattled with the wind and woke us up numerous times during the night. The glass was actually coming off the frame, we could pass a sheet of paper through it. Informed reception in the morning, nothing done about , reminded them at 4 pm the same day, still nothing done about it. Asked for fresh towels,tea and coffee for room and didnt get them. Had to go ask again. The towels we got had holes and black stains on them. Got no apology from the hotel. The hotel is in a good location. Bar and restaurant area looked clean
Carla2585 (10/5): Lovely stay - From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the lovely Samantha who was ever so helpful and friendly. Our room was clean spacious and the bed was so comfy would definitely return and recommend to others.
Sheila (10/5): - Hotel is right across the street from the train station. Also across the sreet next to train station, there is an indoor mall with lots of restaurants & stores. The hotel itself has a good restaurant. A short walk takes you to a main street with lots of stores, pubs and restaurantsas well as easy access to bus transportation. The beds are comfortable & rooms are kept spotless.

U7474GGgeorgeb (6/5): Not bad - Nice hotel with good location next to station and shopping centre. Staff were friendly. Arrived a couple of hours before check in but got into our room no problem. Furniture in bedroom a bit dated but clean. Quite a bit of noise throughout the night but they do provide ear plugs which made a bit of a difference. Breakfast is the normal buffet with the usual offerings. Had a high tea which was a bit of a disappointment but watch out for the 12.5% service charge.

Katie (8/5): Would stay again - Staff were very helpful. Heating was off in all rooms apparently but we were given electric heaters with no problem. Family room had minor imperfections eg a light hanging out of socket slightly in bathroom ceiling, a fickle wall socket, the decor and carpet looked quite old but it waa still all very clean. Powerful shower. We had breakfast one of the days and it was very good. Reception gave us extra coffee etc when asked. Overall an enjoyable stay.

Ross (8/5): Good Value Good Location - Great location, right next to the station and shoos, bars etc. Service was good. Food choice was also good, not too pricey and even got 20% discount. Hoyel is a bit tired looking, nothing to bad though. Rooms are basic, beds are comfy. Only 2 minor niggles, 1. There is next to no cold water in the shower (in the room I was in) which meant scalding hot shower. 2. Room service bsd the bed, emptied the bins but for some reason left the coffee cup that I used (which was empty) half full of dirty tea coloured water. Which makes me think "how do they actually clean the cups? Just rinse them out?
79rebeccay (8/5): Fantastic staff, location + refurbished room - Recommend booking a refurbished room. This is a safe well managed hotel with good value rooms. Fantastic staff, an issue was resolved professionally - eg. Unreasonable noise. The location is amazing opposite the station and shopping centre which has a food hall. Also maritime museum, gym and yoga options nearby. It’s a great choice for exploring on foot. Quite cool to be near the big boats too. I returned on my way home and would go again. Lovely refurbished room and the staff made it.

William (6/5): A Good Hotel Near Transportion Hubs - We only stayed one night but it was a nice stay. The hotel is across from the train station and close to the ferry terminal. We had a suite, which provided extra room. There was a step-up to the toilet that was a concern. In the middle of the night no one wants to trip in the bathroom. But it worked out okay. Our room was in an alcove with just one other room nearby, so it was quiet all night. All in all, an upscale hotel in a handy location.

The rooms were very clean and the hotel had a feel of old architecture mixed with new which left us with a very warm and inviting experience.

ileftmyheartinTokyo (2/5): Absolutely vile hotel. Avoid at all costs! - This is hands down one of the most disgusting hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The room reeked so badly it turned my stomach the moment I walked in. Every floorboard creaks, there are no sockets or light switches near the bed (you have to walk back to the door to turn the light off) crouch under the desk to use a hairdryer, and the window is practically rotting away. Not that you’d want to open it – the whole place stinks of pigeon droppings thanks to the hundreds of pigeons outside and the noise they make all night was something else! The TV didn’t work, and when I asked to change rooms I was told the hotel was full. The manager fiddled with the TV but completely ignored the foul smell in the room - not that there was much he could do about it. I also heard what sounded very much like creatures scratching in the walls – absolutely revolting. The bathroom door had a sign saying it must be closed before showering, but it doesn’t even fit the frame so that was impossible. The kettle was mouldy, which really sums up the general lack of care. The only positives were that the shower was clean and powerful. This hotel was booked for me by work; I would never have chosen it myself. Arriving alone at night, I wanted to leave but all the hotels within a 15 mile radius were fully booked and so I had no real choice but to stay. The whole experience was awful – unhygienic, run-down, and depressing. If you value your comfort, health, or sanity, avoid the Station Hotel at all costs.

rangestormer (6/5): Only if you have to. - Plus points are the location, straight across from the rail station, bus station and Union Square bus station. However, this means you hear a lot of noise day and night. Staff are friendly enough. Room was comfortable but no AC, basic bathroom amenities and basic in room amenities. Food best described as good, but service was slow. Decor is 'traditional' which is great in some aspects, central staircase is a masterpiece of carpentry. Rooms could easily be updated tastefully without ruining the historic nature of the place. No need to stay again, far better places to stay.
Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable stay - Room and bathroom were both quite spacious. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly. Close to bus and train station and short walk into main part of city. Only downside was no air conditioning but we were able to open the window and room was not hot.

Sharmane (10/5): - This hotel was the sixth one during our three-week journey through Iceland, Ireland, and parts of Scotland. Although we only stayed for one night, I can confidently say that the modernization of this hotel, housed in what is clearly an older building, is exceptionally well done. Unlike other hotels we visited that had a vintage charm, none could match the quality and style of the Station Hotel in Aberdeen.

Thehappytraveler2017 (10/5): Aberdeen stay - I would just like to thank all the staff in this hotel from cleaning staff right up to manager, we stayed in a large family room overlooking union square for 12 nights and from the day we arrived to the day we left we were made more than welcome by everyone,lovely food in their restaurant nice bar for a drink and comfortable beds nothing was a problem also very central for train bus station and shopping We would have no hesitation on staying in this hotel on our next visit to the uk all the best to all staff from the Philippines

Grant (6/5): No good, but not all bad - I’m really hoping this is a one off, but the service during dinner was absolutely terrible. We waited at least 15 min for someone to acknowledge us, then once ordered took over an hour to receive our meal. No explanation, no apology. Once our meal came my fish was overcooked. After all was said and done they tried to charge us a courtesy tip. Not a good experience. On a positive note. Breakfast was fantastic. Lots of great choices. Hot breakfast was delicious. You also had choices of cereal, yogurt, fruit, toast.
Karina (4/5): Never use hotels.com - Firstly, hotels.com didn't include my nhs benefits discount and i paid £40 more than i thought i was paying. Stayed in room 102 which looked onto a dead pigeon. Shower had no temp control or cold water so it was scalding. Breakfast wasn't included in the price. No biscuits in room.
Derek (8/5): Show night stay - A great location for our Tivoli Theatre show and very convenient for the bus station. We had high tea which was very tasty with good cakes and great value but £11.40 for a glass of wine was not so good. We have booked again for later in the year
FionaC2366 (8/5): Great last minute stay 😃 - Booked Station Hotel through Booking.com for last minute 1 night stay with my daughter ( standard double, non refundable) When I read the negative reviews on Trip Advisor I was pretty concerned however I needn't have worried. Arrived 3 hours before check-in and the lovely front desk girl told us our room was available! 1st impressions: Exterior looks a bit run down and needs TLC...Reception area, Lounge, Bar and Restaurant all lovely , fresh and clean with a good atmosphere. Our room was 2nd floor (222) and was easy to find. Key card worked right away. Small lift in good working order. Impressive original Staircase and beautiful stained glass windows. Our room was great, a bit dark because of the furniture but all fixtures and fittings worked well. Lots of charging points/ USB points. Hair dryer was okay. Tea and coffee facilities, mini fridge with 2 btls of water and large TV. Bed very comfortable, had my best sleep in ages. toilet/ shower( excellent) and clean with plenty fresh towels. Some stains on carpet but everything else spotless. Pros: Fab location across from bus & train station plus shops,bars etc. Hotel bar very nice with pool table etc. All staff we met were very friendly and polite. Cons: Room warm ( mentioned in other reviews) but we stayed during a heatwave and I took a fan. Expensive for dinner ( we didn't try the food) but plenty other guests, customers were. Summary: AN old Hotel with plenty original features. All rooms have been or are being refurbished. Fab price for great location. Will definitely return! Tip: take a fan.

From the entrance to your room to the bathroom was like stepping back in time and the whole floor was uneven and noisy. janandpaddy (2/5): Weekend for Tall Ships Festival - To be honest I wouldn't bother to stay here, look for somewhere else to stay in the city. Booked to stay here weekend of 19th/20th July, booked a superior room 6 months ago and paid if full to find on arrival our room had been given to someone else. We were then given a room in the budget Holiday Inn Express, the room nowhere came up to what we expected. Customer services appalling and currently battling for a refund.

David (4/5): - No one on reception when I arrived. I had ask at the restaraunt and to wait 15 mins before some one from the restaraunt to come and check me in. The room allocated had not been serviced so I had to go back to reception and ask for another room. The new room was a family room but the tv did not work and the shower would not drain resulting in a bathroom flood. The TV was repaired but the shower drain was not. I had to create a wear with towels to prevent flooding which worked but is neither environmentally friendly nor reasonable. After 2 nights my key card stopped working resulting in another trip to reception (and 20 minute wait) The hotel is perfectly servicable and could be nice, it just need more (trained) staff.

E7554VCsusanc (4/5): Mixed review - Chose this hotel because of location. Greeted by a nice gentleman, but hit with a strong smell as soon as we got in front door (smelt like urinals). Checked in quickly and found room no bother. The smell of the room hit us as soon as we walked in the door. Can't quite describe the smell. Window wouldnt stay open so we had to use a drawer to wedge it open, also put the fan on to try and help with the smell. Large room with double bed & a single bed, plenty storage. Wallpaper coming off in some areas behind the beds. Curtain clearly not the right width for the window, so they have just added a random strip of material to make it the right size. Glad we didnt have a "room with a view" as the windows were so dirty we wouldnt have seen it. Pretty sure someone had written on the top window, on the inside!! The bathroom...the biggest let down! Grubby, sticky and badly needing updated. The chips out of the bath were something else so no way I was letting my child bath in that. One of the towels had stains on it. Went out for the evening and came back to chill in bed watching tv for a little while, tv remote sticky, had to clean it. Bed sheet on the double bed didnt quite cover the corners and had 2 stains on it. My partner went down to complain, within 5 minutes fresh sheets were delivered. Fitted much better too. When we checked in there was a sachet of coffee lying at the double doors beside our landing, it was still there when we checked out the next day. Breakfast. Buffet style, enough choice, cooked well, friendly staff in restaurant and the area itself was clean. Check out, my partner went to check out & the boy behind reception barely lifted his head. Unfortunately lots of negatives. Positives - friendly staff, good breakfast, good power shower and fluffy towels (the ones that were clean). Only raised the bedsheet concern with reception and it was dealt with promptly. Won't return ourselves and wouldnt reccomend.

Robert (6/5): - Stayed here for a short break week end. Decent location opposite Aberdeen bus and rail station, and Union Square. Fine big clean room with Iron, Ironing board, tea coffee making and television, but no safe and our room (311) had only 3 working bulbs out of 5. Lift tended to get hi jacked by cleaners in mornings, and the mainly foreign staff tended to be surly. Thankfully the reception and restaurant staff at breakfast were a different kettle of fish and friendly and warming. Breakfast was nothing special but reasonable. To sum up you get what you pay for but our friend payed the same on a groupon deal at Leonardos opposite, which is where we will go next time. Another big turn off was having to walk through the groups of smokers and their reek at the hotel entrance, then the beggars hanging about a short distance up the hill.

rdbos2n (10/5): A great seven night stay. - Excellent hotel. All the staff were professional yet friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The food was also great, I recommend the seabass, and the staff had a good understanding of allergens. Other reviews have mentioned noise but I had a ground floor room around the back (Grampian Room) for seven nights and the noise overnight was no more than you would expect from a city centre hotel, in fact a lot less noise than I was expecting. All round great value for money.

They tried to resolve with Expedia but could not & hotel manager told me I would have to call. It took an hour on the phone before we were able to check in. Unfortunately this meant we missed a planned event we had travelled for. Very disappointing customer service.

The hotel is in an old building with no air conditioning in the room and we couldn’t open any windows so was unfortunately it was an uncomfortable night. It’s also on a busy road through the town so you could hear the traffic all the time. The room was nice and big and bathroom was nice.

Verified traveler (6/5): A overall bad experience - Upon arrival the front desk was understaffed being the receptionist and bar tender were same person. The first room we had was very warm. The bathroom towel warmer was hot and no way to turn it off. The heat radiated into the room and only 1 window opened. They did provide us a fan. No manager or maintenance on the property on Sunday. We asked to be moved and they obliged. The second room was better but only 2 windows opened about 3-4” so we requested and got another fan. The floor squeaked everywhere and slanted to one side of the room. Bathroom was the best part of the room. The hallways smelled musty and in general just unacceptable. I would not recommend this hotel.
