Guest Reviews
- Sharon (10/5): - Beautiful place with fantastic, courteous service from all staff. The view of the fort from the rooftop restaurant is stunning and we were able to walk there easily in 20 minutes. Our room was huge and the bed was so comfortable.
- Rohit (10/5): - Amazing property best service and helpful staff
- RAI AJIT (10/5): Awesome experience - Service was excellent. We arrived early and they provided us clean room right away. All hotel staff was cordial and eager to extend services to comfort their guests feel at home. Road construction outside hotel makes it a bit inconvenient for some guests to reach Main Street but it appears to be completed in couple of weeks. Hotel top restaurant and view of Jaisalmer Palace together with dining gives an awesome and enjoying experience. An overall memorable experience!
- Dawn (10/5): Fantastic hotel - Fantastic hotel.
Wonderful views.
Great food.
Attentive staff.
Perfect.
- Mitra (10/5): - This hotel surpassed all our expectations. The images and all the reviews could not prepare us for what we experienced. The staff was outstanding. They went out of their way to make us feel at home and be gracious in all their interactions with us. The hotel facilities were exceptional. The hotel exterior, the courtyards, rooftop dining room, and pool were beautifully appointed. Our suite was luxurious and had every amenity we could need and as much space as we could ask for. I highly recommend this hotel.
- RICHARD (10/5): Paradise - Lovely hotel built in the traditional style with a fantastic rooftop restaurant and terrace overlooking the fort. Staff were kind, friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. The laundry service was excellent and quick. Bonus was a nice, well maintained swimming pool set in a small garden.
Would definitely recommend this hotel .
- Shivraj (10/5): - Very convenient and comfortable. Excellent staff.
- ANIRUDDHA ATMARAM (10/5): - Haveli type construction of assets. Distance to major tourist attractions is walkable. Beautiful view from roof-top restaurant.
- Tushar (10/5): Excellent hotel - Excellent property in Jaisalmer. We got free upgrade to next level, staff was friendly and food was made to order but test was very good.
From terrace restaurant, you can have grand view of the fort.
- Ajay (10/5): - Approach road improvements are a must, otherwise a very homely and relaxing place.
- Alissa (10/5): - Wow, I have never experienced such fantastic and hospitable customer service. The staff members were so kind to us and made our stay! The food at the hotel restaurant was some of the best food in India. You need to stay here if you're in India!
- Stefano (10/5): - Amazing property service food cleanliness and attention to details
- David (10/5): - Only good things to say about both the property and our stay. Even though we had never visited Jaisalmer, we immediately felt at home once we set foot in The Gulaal. Virendra Singh and Babu took good care of us - arranged transport, made recommendations, answered all of our questions, and also had good stories to tell. We ate many meals at the property and were pleasantly surprised by how tasty and reasonably priced the all-veg menu was. Our room was spacious, clean and had the most comfortable mattress I have ever encountered in India. We have already recommended to all our family in India and would recommend to anyone looking to visit Jaisalmer.
- VENUGOPAL (10/5): - Very attentive staff
- anthony (10/5): - Fab hotel, pure veg, alcohol free dining. Menu v good.
- Hitesh (10/5): - The Gulaal is arguably one of the best properties in Jaisalmer. Its proximity to the fort, architecture confirming to the ones you find inside the fort, the decor and warmth of hospitality extended by the staff makes is a must stay place. We stayed at the Luxury suite and while the luxury was true to its name, it did not burn a hole in our pocket. You enter the place in the evening and it is filled with mild aroma of dhoop giving you a feeling of an actual haveli. Our room was as spacious as one could imagine. A living room with window balcony, lovely bedroom, a huge bathroom. The best part was a huge separate terrace where you can enjoy a clear view of the fort while sipping your evening tea. The bedroom window gives you a clear shot of the fort and it looks surreal at night, something right out of story books. I can't even begin to describe the rooftop dining. You can enjoy your favorite meal with the view of the the fort which has a different aura around it at night. To top it all and the best feature of the place is, its staff. Warm, courteous and always willing to make your stay memorable. Without any doubt, the next time we go there, we are staying at the same place.
- Piyush (8/5): - It a good 3 star property with huge rooms and great service. Calling it a luxury boutique is bit of a stretch.
Again good views and huge rooms.
- Akshay (10/5): - The property is well made , managed by the owners family . Nice people good food
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional Haveli / Exceptional Hospitality - Beautifully designed Haveli decorated with magnificent Indian colours and furniture....all very pleasing and comfortable. Spectacular rooftop restaurant / terrace. Wonderful warm service and the owners Chandan and Victor are always available to help. Highly recommend.
- Edgard (10/5): Charming stay in jaisalmer - Very nice hotel. The view from the rooftop is amazing. The staff is very nice and friendly. The food is good. The hotel is walking distance from the fort. The fort is a must to visit.
- Toral (10/5): - Beautiful little gem with clean rooms and excellent hospitality. We enjoyed the rooftop and meals very much
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I looked at lot of hotels and booked Gulaal as the room sizes were big and the reviews were good. I feel all that is an understatement , our stay and trip to jaisalmer was exceptional. I give the credit to the the owner Mr. Virendra and Mr Chandan. We had a very warm welcome on rooftop with masala tea. The rooms are so spacious , bright and clean. He organised our heritage tour with a local guide Mr Lalit German Purohit(Lalu). He is a gem of a person with great knowledge. He took us to the fort and the town to see the most renowned Haveli’s.We requested to try local Rajasthani food and he organised everything and took us to the best spot in the fort with best views. He also took us for shopping. The staff at Gulaal were very respectful . The food is so delicious. The chef will make the effort to give you your choice of food. The next day we went to sand dunes which was organised by Mr Virendra. The driver ( Mr Naval kishor) is a very jovial and a safe driver. He told us few stories on the way. We went to Pal Rajah camp which was secluded and away from the crowded places , great food and an eye catching cultural show. The owners of Gulaal are the most wonderful people I have met till now. On our departure they also gave us a box of sweets . They made us feel so special. We thank the Gulaal team for making our holiday very memorable. If ever I go to Jaisalmer I will stay at Gulaal and will recommend to my family and friends.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Its a very nice pretty clean comfortable place to stay in. Food served in the restaurant is delicious and the service was pretty good. I would highly recommend this place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful well run hotel - get them to put a cap on your account, it
- Raj (10/5): - Amazing!!! I wanted some good relaxing time and when I entered into the hotel, I knew I am at the right place. Astonishing interior with Rajasthani touch, good food and great cleanliness. Rooms were so nicely placed, one wouldn’t touch a thing and just watch the perfection. Oh n yes, amazing fort view from the roof top. Must stay place in Jaisalmer!
- Laurelyn (10/5): Exquisite hotel, great value, service above all. - Exquisite in every way from decor, to comfort, to service to the food. Breakfast was included and it was exceptional, fresh, delicious and served with a warm smile. Everyone working there remembered every detail. The room was large, beautiful, comfortable, serviced everyday and had a private patio. AC was quiet. Water was hot.
Lastly the pool was the perfect afternoon break from the jaisalmer heat. We would go out in the morning, have a dip in the afternoon to cool down and then head out for the evening. Just loved it!!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - There is nothing to not like. Brilliant location. Breathtaking view of jaiselmer fort at night from roof top restaurant. Very very helpful staff. Excellent rooms and ambiance. Tasty food. Good breakfast options. By far the best property we have stayed in till date ( we travel a lot) . Def recommend this property.
- Trent (10/5): - We arrived early, and had a welcoming drink on their rooftop restuarant while we waited for a room to be ready. The rooftop has an excellent view of the fort.
Our room was ready before the check in time and they upgraded us to a suite.
The room was excellent. The style was like the old Havelis we stayed in, but it is not an old building and everything was well maintained.
We had the hotel breakfast, which is not a buffet, so you can order what you want and it will be fresh.
The location is a little ways off the main street through Jaisalmer. About 5-6 minutes walk. And a further 8 to the Fort or 11 to the lake. It's much quieter here than closer to Gadisar road or the Fort.
- Barbara (10/5): Luxury boutique it's for real. - The hotel was amazing, the welcome was extremely friendly. Taken to rooftop restaurant for welcome drink. The view was magnificent of Jaisalmer Fort beautifully lit by night. The room was excellent and the food was delicious. The service was attentive but not overwhelming. Our waiter Vikram Singh was so polite and looked after all our whims. A hotel my husband and I would certainly like to return to.
- Tan (10/5): - Great hotel with a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The two brothers that run the hotel are incredibly helpful and courteous. We stayed in a deluxe room but it actually was a suite with a separate living room, a huge bathroom, and a large deck outside. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was a la carte and everything was delicious. We also had dinner at the hotel with the view of the Jaisalmer fort.
The owners arranged a desert tour with a private car for us, and we were able to do the tour at our pace. The hotel is located just outside of the Jaisalmer fort which is only 5 minute on a tuk tuk. It is perfect for us to go out in the morning checking out one place and coming back to the hotel to rest for a bit. We also had a great massage at the spa by the swimming pool.
On the last day, we had to catch a train at 5 pm, and the owners were very generous to let us stay in the room and drop us off with no extra charge. This is the hotel that really goes out of their way to create the wonderful experience for our vacation.
- Bryan (10/5): - The two brothers that run the hotel are absolute professionals when it comes to caring for their guests. They go out of their way to make sure your experience in their part of India is unforgettable. And the rest of their staff is top notch as well. Very humorous and knowledgeable that gang.
- Jo and Tim (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel near the fort - We were 2 nights in Jaisalmer - so glad we went there and our stay at home hand hotel was delightful. Beautiful room, pool and roof top terrace with views of the fort and staff who were very helpful.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Great service, terrible bed - Staff was very friendly. Room was beautiful and reasonably clean. Some spider webs in the bathroom. However, bed was super uncomfortable. I ended up sleeping on the window cushion as my spine was hurting. Pool was dirty and unusable. The hotel is down a dusty path and no taxis around so you have to walk
- vicki (10/5): Oasis in Jaisalmer - Our whole experience at Gulaal was excellent. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful, especially the manager. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet. It had a fridge and tea/coffee making. The pool was a treat to come back to after a hot days sightseeing. It is 10 minutes walk from the edge of the fort, but we enjoyed the local ambience. The breakfast was sufficient. Drinks on the roof top over looking the fort at night was a highlight. Great value.
- vikas (10/5): Recommended to all... - Gulaal as the name says is certainly very colourful in all aspects be it the room or the hotel. Rooms are perfectly designed for comfort. Chandanji and Virendraji take good care of the guests at all stages. The roof top restraunt is quite n gives great views of the sonar fort. Only suggestion that the quality of fud though good can still b better . Recommended to all !!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent hotel, friendly staff and great service. Amazing view of the fort. I loved staying here and would thoroughly recommend it.
- marijke (10/5): Not far from fort with free drop off service. - Great rooms, helpful owners, beautiful city. We were very pleased to have booked here. Pool was small (it's a desert!) but lovely. They were able to book us a camel sunset ride and provide a driver back to jodphur at reasonable prices. Overall a great value.
- Laura (10/5): one of the best hotels we've stayed in - wonderfully decorated hotel, done in beautiful typical local style with real taste
spacious room, great terrace with view of the fort and lovely little swimming pool - with plenty of shade available from the sun
- DPR (10/5): - Don't hesitate! Book it! If you can do it, go for the fort view suite.
- Keshava (10/5): - These guys took service to a new level. Never felt as much as a "Guest" instead of a "Customer" in my life. They took care of everything we needed, including helping us get cash during the demonitization problems, and gave us room to hang out in even after checkout, while we waited for a midnight train. Absolutely the highest level of care and attention I've ever gotten at a hotel.
- Mark (10/5): Extraordinarily appealing hotel - The Gulaal is among the most appealing hotels that I have ever visited. Once one gets past the dusty lane bringing one to the hotel, all is perfection. It is built in the traditional style--and is architecturally exquisite--yet has all modern conveniences. The rooms are spacious and gracious; the breakfasts are generous and delicious. And I haven't identified what may be the best of all: the staff! They go out of their way to make one comfortable--from arranging for a midnight pickup at the RR station to helping call family in Delhi (without charge). I can't recommend The gulaal highly enough!
- Vyomesh (10/5): Super Hospitality, Food and the BEST view of fort - We have travelled a lot in India and Internationally and this is the BEST hospitality and warmth we have received so far. Both owners capture your hearts with warmth, welcome and their detailing in making your trip enjoyable.
This hotel has best view of Jaisalmer fort, food is exceptional and staff members go beyond call to please all guests. We will visit Jaisalmer whenever in India just to enjoy these wonderful people and food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel close to the fort - Hotel staff was very attentive. Hotel was clean. Beautiful, large rooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Friendly and lovely staff - My friend and I arrived late on New Year's Eve without a plan. The hotel staff were lovely and very accommodating. We had a late dinner on the rooftop terrace all to ourselves as the clock hit midnight. We highly recommend this hotel...it's one of the nicer hotel experiences we have had traveling in India.
- Nico (8/5): Beautiful and friendly, not too far from JaiseFort - New but lovely building with good facilities and friendly staff, good value for money.
- Renu (10/5): Exceptional boutique hotel - Hotel Gulaal is exceptional boutique style hotel. I stayed here and received top notch personalized service. I felt right at home. I travel a lot for business and pleasure; and stay at 5 star properties. Hotel Gulaal exceeded all my expectations. I would highly recommend hotel Gulaal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable, large room, friendly staff - Excellent hotel, very friendly staff, good restaurant and breakfast, nice pool
- Heather (10/5): Absolute Dream Stay in the Desert - The Gulaal has unbeatable charm, genuinely kind and helpful owners, and rooftop views of Jaisalmer Fort. My mom and I felt at home and our short stay here was the highlight of our 2 week trip in India.
Our room was extremely spacious and clean with many amenities, but still managed to feel cozy and comfortable. It's very colorful but not overdone/gaudy.
The staff helped us arrange a morning yoga session and a dinner desert safari with a camel ride. Prices were low and we enjoyed both activities. It was amazing to sit in the sand dunes and watch the sunset while our guides cooked us a delicious dhal veg dinner, and then see all the stars come out at night.
We love The Gulaal!
- Corentin (10/5): - Really good stay in really good hotel
- Robin (10/5): A must ! - Beautiful hotel combining traditional with contemporary modern, excellent attentive service.
