Guest Reviews
- Andrea (10/5): - Our host made us feel very welcome and was very eager to help if required., It felt like a home away from home and the bed was very comfortable, we had a great night's sleep. Cooked breakfast could be ordered ahead in addition to tea/coffee/juice and a selection of cereal and fruit.

- michelle (10/5): Very relaxing and peaceful stay . - Was a very nice homely stay . Our room was beautiful, had a balcony and had the most comfortable rocking chair in the room where the sun was shining through the window so relaxing.
John our host was most welcoming and cooked us an amazing breakfast.
Was a short walk into the town.
Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Very reasonable price Nothing

- Stephen (10/5): - We are a family of 4 and we're staying at ardgort house as it was very convenient location for our weekend visit to Tyrone close to walking trails etc. At check in we were meet by John our host, who is a absolute gentleman and made us feel very welcome and could not do enough for us. We had the family room which was huge and big bathroom. The view from our room was stunning. Breakfast the next morning was excellent.higly recommended this guest house for a stay All good
- Reidy (8/5): - Host very pleaseant
- Matthew (4/5): Not a pleasant experience as cheap fixes seem to be holding the place together - The gentlemen that greeted us was very friendly. There was a very pungent smell on entry. The bed frame was clearly broken and ply board was used to hold the mattress up. The TV was secured to the wall by string. There was damp in one of the corners of the ceiling. It all gave a impression of being run down and dated.
- Tim (9/5): Comfortable - Beautiful character and in a scenic setting. The rest of the town shut down for two of the four days we were there and dining was very limited.
- Gavin (9/5): -
- Nicola (10/5): Very beautiful clean comfortable place 2 stay great value - I liked the country feel to the house rooms etc. Beautiful decor lovely gentleman 2 greet us and cook for us highly recommended this place 2 stay very affordable 😀
- BRIAN (8/5): I had a lovely stay at this property. The room was spacious and comfortable. A warm welcome -

- Arlene (10/5): Lovely stay! - John is a lovely man, he greeted us when we arrived, nothing was a bother for him. He even offered to run us into the town and pick us up again! At breakfast, he was so attentive, it was great and made my partner's morning by presenting him with chocolates with a wee candle for his birthday which is just a lovely and unexpected gesture! I would really recommend this place to anyone. Thanks again, John, hopefully see you in the summer!
- Aileen (1/5): The house was Baltic cold. When I mentioned it was very cold he tore the head off me and said he just turned on the heat - The bedding looked clean. That’s it. Nothing else. Very old fashioned. The owner was the rudest person I have ever encountered. His appearance was tatty and dirty. He offered his hand to my children and I to shake hands. He commented on my daughter’s appearance which was concerning. When we were in the room he was listening outside our door. He was creepy beyond belief. When I observed to him that the house was freezing he raised his voice, moved closer to me and waved his finger at me in a threatening manner. He showed me a lit stove in ‘the bar’ which was to heat the big open plan room as well as the dining room and both were extremely cold. I said it’s very chilly in here too and he barked back, do you want a drink in the bar, to which I replied no, and he then said, well it doesn’t matter if it’s cold so. His voice was escalated and he was confrontational. An extremely unpleasant experience just before Christmas. He in indeed the Grinch of B&Bs! Avoid.
- Elisha (10/5): Great place to stay and host - It wa in the town Nothing
- Jessica (10/5): Do yourself a favour and stay here! - John made us feel right at home and gave us great recommendations. The property itself is beautiful, clean and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed playing pool by the fire downstairs.

- gillian (10/5): An emerald gem - We loved the welcome from John and the friendliness shown towards us. Nothing was too trouble..The breakfast was good and cooked at the time of our choice . The hotel has a rural outlook although it is within walking distance of the town
Nest of both worlds. The room was spacious, comfortable, clean, quiet and warm. Very good value. Nothing
- Jack (10/5): -
- Andrea (10/5): We had such a lovely time! John was wonderful and attentive and made us feel extra special! - The breakfast was wonderful and John made us feel extra special. He even gave us a box of chocolates on our way out! We loved chatting with him and he was so attentive and flexible for our schedule during our road trip! I would definitely recommend to a friend!
- Órla (10/5): - Beautiful property in a great location for the town.
Staff super friendly and very accommodating.
- Euan (10/5): Great place for an overnight stop on our road trip around Ireland. - This is a lovely old house. The room was large, clean and comfortable. We were there out of the main holiday season so it was quiet. John who met us is a great bloke, he really looked after us. We hadn’t booked breakfast and there was no chef on, but he still sorted us out with a good cooked breakfast when we asked if it was possible. There’s nothing we could say we disliked
- Edwin (10/5): -
- Natasha (9/5): Lovely home stay with the perfect host - Perfect location for our stay for a family wedding. John was the perfect host and gave us time to get settled in.
Breakfast was beautiful, continental or cooked breakfast made to order. The property itself may have needed a little updating inside and out and the water pressure in the taps could do with looking at.
- Carol (9/5): True Old Country Inn - There's an overall feeling that this was a bustling, popular place that is now quiet, a little worn around the edges, proudly carrying on after the huge impact of covid that country inns have dealt with. Yes, there are probably some updates needed, but we loved the authentic, comfortable, old-Irish feel. The room was very large, with a huge balcony, cozy bed, tea, coffee & a few treats. Simple breakfast cereals, plus the hot items that John will cook for you. It's just a 5-min walk into town where there are several friendly pubs.
Special thank you to John, who is sincerely kind, real, & fully invested in the comfort of his guests - he's a treasure & represents all that's good in staying at country inns.
- Carolyn (10/5): - A lovely one night stay while heading south. John made me feel very welcome. Had a lovely room overlooking the front grounds and a very comfortable bed. Would definitely book again if I came this way again.
- Bernie (10/5): - Everything was class! John was an Absolute star. He is the nicest man on earth. So helpful and sweet. We'd the best Stay ever. Beautiful room. Gorgeous balcony and the bar is just round the corner. The locals are lovely well definitely be back again. Such a nice quiet location but john made it amazing. He's such a wee dote. Best stay ever. Totally recommend. We'll be back. Xx Nothing everything was perfect. The best night ever.

- vidhya (8/5): - The host very helpful, friendly and always willing to help Welcoming host
- Jocelyn (10/5): -
- raymobd (10/5): -
- Thomas O'Rourke (10/5): A must place to Stay - Absolutely wonderful stay. If in this area at all please stay here. The hospitaty is second to none. A credit to John. Nothing
- Audrey (9/5): Very enjoyable and comfortable stay. We feel the breakfast could be improved- for example, more choice of cereals and fr - Lovely old style house and John was so welcoming. Immaculately decorated and exquisitely clean. Within walking distance of a good restaurant
- leslie (9/5): - Very well priced and good location to visit donagal
- Mark (10/5): Wonderful host and spacious accommodation. - We had an excellent stay at Ardgort House. Our room was spacious and well equipped. John is an absolute gentleman and served up a great breakfast. Walking distance to a very friendly town. We were lucky to be there for the Black Saturday parade. Thank you John for being a wonderful host.
- Gillian (10/5): - John is an excellent host, very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, the shower was hot and the balcony was a nice addition. We were able to see some stars before bed! The decor is a little old fashioned but it adds to the charm of the house which has a lovely family home feel to it. The location is handy for both Derry and Enniskillen which we travelled to on Friday night and Saturday. We were also close to Holy Cross College parkrun in Strabane which we did and were able to get back to our room and shower before check out. Nothing
- Phil (9/5): We enjoyed our over night in Castelderg. Hotel is near the town centre - My Full Irish was very good.
My wife's scrambled eggs and bacon was dry and not as good as we had hoped. See comment re breakfasts, only area needing improvement.
- Smith (10/5): -
- Jon (10/5): - The traditional bed and breakfast where the host greets you, shows you the room, asks for your breakfast order and makes breakfast. We loved the old charm of the place. The hard beds were perfect for my achy back after a long day of travel (squishy beds are the worst for my back). Kids loved having their own beds. Host was so kind, went above and beyond to make you feel welcome and treated. Thank you for this authentic experience!
We loved walking into town, getting food at the grocery store then had a picnic in the new park. Fun, safe, family-friendly area!
- Clodagh (10/5): Ardgort House - Really lovely room, very comfortable and clean.
John was absolutely lovely and made us feel very welcome.
Breakfast was delicious. Would recommend a stay N/A
- Rachele (8/5): Molto carino!
- ELAINE (10/5): - lovely room made very welcome
- Irma Schutte (9/5): -
- Linda (10/5): - Room was lovely and big. Breakfast was excellent. Host was very friendly
Would stay again if we were in the ares
- Donald (10/5): - Wonderful time at this quaint spot.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - The entire pace was STUNNING and very well kept! John was so lovely, we stayed for one night and he made us brekkie the next day and let us pick raspberries from his garden.
- Richard (9/5): Highly recommended hotel. Very comfortable, great breakfast. A big thanks to John. A++ - Extremely comfortable three day stay. Great room and a fantastic breakfast. John and the other members of staff could not do more for me. Nothing
- Melvyn (10/5): Home from home - Lovely, grand room with veranda. Friendly, helpful staff and a good cooked breakfast. What more could you need?
- Valerie (9/5): Superb - Beautiful rooms, kind staff, tranquility and access to shop and playground.
- Neel (8/5): Great trip to see “the Open” golf tournament in Northern Ireland. - Location near our golfing event. Convenient. Too much furniture in the room. Cluttered. Shower floor is slippery. John is a kind host, breakfast was good and on time each morning.
- Janice (9/5): Superb -
- Morgan (6/5): Not as described in the advert - I already wrote a review about how rude the owner is, so I won’t repeat. This ‘hotel’ is tired and remote. It isn’t quaint and it’s not a good representation of how charming Ireland can be. No bar (wish I had taken a photo), no restaurant, the beds are old and not particularly comfortable, the comforter was way too warm for the lovely summer weather on offer.
Not particularly eco friendly as body wash and shampoo was in small plastic bottles.
I couldn’t be paid to go back!
- Deighan (10/5): Gorgeous country house. - Beautiful location very tranquil and relaxing. Cose to other towns and plenty to do. John is a perfect host very knowledgeable and a great sense of humour. A hidden jem in this part of the country. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back. Great value for money and plenty of choice for breakfast. A must for a great weekend. What's not to like. We love this place.
- Ryszard (10/5): Exceptional - Nice b&B very comfortable
- John (10/5): Loved it, was a great stay. - John the host was fantastic, he looked after us so well, gave us a great walking plan to the local castle ruins, we could not fault his hospitality.
It was situated close to town, within walking distance to the local shops and cafes, supermarket. Nothing
- Helena (10/5): We will be returning - It’s extremely peaceful and very clean There is nothing not to like
- Kathleen (10/5): Nice accommodation. Very welcoming host who went out of his way to make the stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible - Lovely setting with ample parking.
Very comfortable and John, the owner, couldn’t do enough for you. Breakfast was great too. Would have liked to have an evening meal option but the owner sorted menu for local takeout and was even prepared to go and collect as all the restaurants in the town are closed on a Wednesday.
- Lijo (10/5): Exceptional - We like John very nice stay excellent
- Kelly (10/5): Lovely guy who owns the house, very friendly we will definitely stay again - The place was beautiful & very clean & comfortable
- Przelicka (10/5): Excellent place - We had a truly wonderful stay at Ardgort Country House! The room was clean, cozy, and beautifully decorated, with a stunning view of the surrounding countryside. The staff were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere of the whole place is peaceful and relaxing — perfect for a countryside getaway. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a warm and charming stay in the area! Everything was okay.
- Mark (9/5): Superb - John is a real gentleman and made us feel very welcome. He is very attentive to make sure your stay is as good as possible. The house is like stepping back to the 90s in a good way. A time before IKEA furniture everywhere and bright led lights. Everything is surprisingly well maintained for the apparent age of the decor. At this price the quality of the bed and fittings is superb. Breakfast was good, consisting of the usual cereals and cooked options. I'd definitely stay here again if in the area. The only thing, which is pretty common in a lots of places, is the water pressure in the shower is not very powerful. But bear in mind it's an older house with older fixture so that's the trade off for the charm.
- Rohit (10/5): Exceptional - The host was very pleasant and helpful. The room was beautiful. We had a good time. Nothing
- Helena (10/5): Perfect! We will be returning - This is such a little gem! We stayed in the family room with 2 children and it was perfect. The property is so clean and it’s so incredibly peaceful. The warm welcome from John was lovely. I have already recommended this place to friends of ours and I will be staying here again for certain! There was absolutely nothing I didn’t like about the property. Genuinely I cannot find a single fault
- Andrew (9/5): Lovely stay at a charming hotel - Very good breakfast, great location and great host nothing springs too mind .
- Claudia (10/5): Lovely stay, would for sure come again - The host was lovely and the room very nice.
- Vinoth (9/5): "Wonderful Stay – Highly Recommended!" - I had a fantastic experience staying at this property. The cleanliness was top-notch—rooms were spotless, fresh linens provided daily, and common areas were well-maintained throughout our stay.
The staff were incredibly friendly and professional. From check-in to check-out, they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Any requests we had were handled quickly and with a smile.
The facilities were excellent. We especially enjoyed the serene garden area, and the fast, reliable Wi-Fi.
Overall, I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others looking for a comfortable, clean, and well-managed place to stay. Nothing much.
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Aswathy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (7/5): Nice hotel. Attentive, friendly staff Good breakfast - Beautiful house Little cold here and there
- Ann (7/5): Good -
- Kenneth (10/5): - A taste of the old roadside hotel with a 2 minute walk to town center. Our host, John, is a terrific fellow eager to do anything for you. He has a full bar available to you and makes a nice breakfast as well.
- Luke (10/5): John was very kind and helpful and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable - The room was very spacious and the house was lovely Nothing
