Guest Reviews
- Jalyn (8/5): - Hotel itself is decent. The sargussum in the area all around is awful. You can smell it even inside the room.
- Camille (10/5): - Underrated. The service was top notch. They were more than accommodating, doing things we never even asked, going above and beyond.
Loved the view and balcony for the price. Kitchen came in very handy. Very central location and highly walkable.
- Torez (10/5): - Loved my stay. Convenient and close to everything. Balcony with the beach view is always a plus.
- Mason (4/5): - Dog there is annoying
- Danielle (10/5): - Beautiful spot to stay at, able to experience all of San Pedros beauty.
- john (8/5): - great location close to water taxi and airport great view
- Danny (10/5): - I love the property nice and clean, great staff.. only thing they should add is an elevator…
- John (4/5): - Sargasssum buildup on beach in front of the hotel and no one trying to clean it up letting it to rot leaving a pungent order
- drcliftonthomas (10/5): Great hotel with great reef view. - Excellent staff. Great view from the balcony. Great town location. Room was very clean. Easy walking distance to restaurants. The bed was very comfortable. Easy booking from website. I will definitely return.
- Companion34717732036 (8/5): Dive Trip - We spent 5 days at the Mayan Princess in San Pedro, Belize. If you use the Carribean Sprinter Water taxi it is within walking distance of the hotel. Sea Dog dive center is also right in front of the hotel. The staff was very friendly, the hotel is clean, rooms are a nice size with a balcony facing the ocean. The beds are very comfortable. No breakfast at hotel, but plenty of restaurants around. Will stay there again.
- Ann (10/5): - Beautiful view, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!
- Kellie (10/5): - Pretty was a 2 minute walk to the water taxi. It was also within walking distance of downtown and dozens of restaurants and night spots.
Staff was super friendly
- Nadejda (10/5): - .
- vanessa (10/5): Awesome - The staff were absolutely amazing! The location was excellent and very convenient. But I cannot say enough about the staff! So accommodating and helpful, and very friendly. Everyone was friendly on the island actually.
- NL-Belize (10/5): Excellent location and wonderful staff. - I loved this hotel. The location is great. It is directly on the beach and in the heart of downtown. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Lots of shops (grocery, corner shops, tourist shops, and local shops) nearby. We did not rent a golf cart and were fine without one, but there are plenty of rentals available. We took taxis to and from the San Pedro Water taxi. The hotel helped us book taxis and gave us great recommendations for dining. The staff was amazingly helpful and friendly. We had a king suite with a balcony overlooking the sea. The room was very clean and comfortable, with an inside seating area, nicely appointed kitchen area, and a nice table and chairs on the balcony. The view and the breezes on the balcony were lovely. We will definitely stay here the next time we visit San Pedro.
- WARREN W (10/5): - The Staff was simply amazing and made the stay super easy
- Daydream686668 (10/5): Will Return - This was my second visit at Mayan Princess within 3 months. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and the small kitchen is definitely a plus. The location is close to lots of restaurants/stores. I would stay here again.
- 982gregb (10/5): What a GREAT hotel! - This hotel really works at making you happy. The room was clean and comfortable, they provided ice, made reservations as needed, and in general really went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. The beach was nice (bummer about so much seaweed) but you could snorkel around the dock and clear blue sandy area to see all kinds of fish. And, this hotel is so close to all the downtown restaurants. It's basically only a few blocks and streets. Very nice.
- michaelsW5501VR (10/5): Comfort in San Pedro - Clean, accommodating, staff is very friendly and hotel is well located with a lot of restaurants and shops close by. They organized our diving with one of the local shops and managed all of those logistics for us, I can highly recommend this place for anyone.
- Erin (10/5): - This hotel was wonderful. Super clean and the bed and futon were really comfortable. Only thing I missed was a pool and that’s just because you can’t really swim out front. I would totally stay here again depending on what I wanted to do each day.
- Misty (10/5): - It's convenient to excursions, shopping grocery store.
Great staff, very kind .
- Climber11355313738 (10/5): Paradise. - Very nice. Loved the staff. Especially Natalie. Accessible to everything. Clean, accommodating to all our needs. There was nothing we needed. The view was magnificent from our room. Love, live loved it. The balcony was private and secluded. Thank you very much.
- Ambrosio (10/5): - Great service…
- Adrian (10/5): - This is a nice beach front property, rooms are like a studio apartment. Has a beautiful balcony to sit and watch the ocean. There are some beach chairs.
There are no additional amenities. You can walk to good restaurants, bars supermarket, bank etc.
- Danielle (10/5): - Good area, very clean rooms with a beautiful view.
- MarktheWay (10/5): Centrally Located Condo on the Beach - This is a condo with a fully stocked kitchen and an outside patio with a direct view of the beach and sunrise each morning. The A/C was very nice and comfortable, as well as the bed. The bathroom was a bit dated. We shopped at the local store for coffee, milk and local papaya. It was nice to have breakfast on the patio looking out at our view.
- Warren (10/5): - Every thing was great only thing needed is a pool
- Verified traveler (10/5): Satisfied customers - Beautiful view. Friendly and responsive staff. Clean room. In town and has great access to everything (grocery stores, restaurants, golf cart rentals, shops, airport, beach, etc.
- ArpitaDe (10/5): Just perfect! - Great location, very neat and clean, spacious rooms, every room has a sea facing balcony, with breathtaking views, awesome staff.
No complaints, only compliments - that's what I have for everything and everyone in Mayan Princess Hotel.
This is probably the best hotel in town for the sea, sun and activities.
And, if you have any issues with anything, you just need to tell them and they address it immediately. (I've stayed in enough hotels around the world where, upon raising an issue, I have been assured that it would be resolved but been given excuses to procrastinate until it was time for me to check out! I guess they do the same with all guests. Not so for this hotel. If we had any issue, they immediately sent a specialist over to look into it and resolve it. Thank you so much for your attentiveness.)
This was our special holiday and I had made some additional requests and they not only catered to all those, but also left a complimentary bottle of Prosecco! Thank you so much for making our holiday even more special :-) Thank you for your warm welcome, beautiful smiles, ever willingness to guide, and being so caring. If we go back to San Pedro again, I just know exactly where to stay! And I'd say this to everyone looking for accommodation in San Pedro: you can book Mayan Princess Hotel (with your eyes closed) and be assured of a wonderful stay!
- Patricia (10/5): - I loved this place! Will stay again!
- Jordan (10/5): - Perfectly located for walking to a bunch of locations in San Pedro!
- Culture36066515754 (10/5): A Dream Anniversary Return to the Mayan Princess - We recently returned to the Mayan Princess for our 20th wedding anniversary. Two decades after spending our honeymoon here, and the experience was absolutely magical. This beachfront gem, nestled along crystal-clear waters and overlooking the breathtaking Barrier Reef, exceeded every expectation once again.
From the moment we began booking, the staff impressed us with their exceptional service, attentive, thorough, and always prompt in their communication. They even helped me surprise my wife with a gorgeous bouquet of tropical flowers waiting in our room when we arrived. From assisting with our flight arrangements to and from the Island, to organizing a taxi for pick up and drop off from the airport, their attention to detail and commitment to making our stay perfect truly stood out. The staff can also assist in helping you book a golf cart rental and any excursions you may wish to take.
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by name, a thoughtful touch that set the tone for our stay. Our suite was spotless and beautifully maintained, complete with a well-equipped kitchenette, cozy living area, fast Wi-Fi, and a spacious patio with a hammock and stunning panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and Barrier Reef. The private dock, dive shop just steps away, and nearby beachside restaurants, bars, and businesses made everything feel effortlessly convenient.
The Mayan Princess’s location in the heart of downtown San Pedro couldn’t be better. Everything from vibrant restaurants and lively bars to unique local shops is within easy walking distance, no golf cart needed.
This anniversary trip was everything we dreamed of and more. The Mayan Princess once again captured our hearts, and we won’t be waiting another 20 years to return. It’s truly a special place, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!
- CharleneL368 (10/5): Excellent stay! - I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Mayan Princess. It was very clean, comfortable and right in the centre of town, close to restaurants and shopping. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, making us feel safe and secure as women travellers. We loved the little kitchenette to prepare our breakfast and make our coffee each morning.
I would highly recommend the Mayan princess and its affordable price point. The only suggestion I would make are better curtains to keep out the extreme sunlight each morning. My friend slept on the futon, and found it too bright very early. Other than that, I’ll definitely book here again!
- raimot282 (10/5): San Pedro Paradise - We liked a lot how the hotel look, overall feeling, location just beside the beech, superb view, room, balcony right to the sea and the most friendly and super charming staff - they were all really Mayan Princesses. Room was clean, large enough and it had a fully equipped kitchen.
- Christianna (10/5): - I could live there! This space was more like an apartment than a hotel room. It was quite comfortable. My favorite part was enjoying coffee on the balcony watching the sun rise and the harbor wake up.
- joerK8446DX (8/5): Camp Belize - This is a great hotel in a great location in easy walking distance to the local beach bars and restaurants. The view from the balcony is great and you can request a hammock. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. It could easily be a one bedroom condo except there is no door between bedroom and living room. The staff is very accommodating and helpful. Have been staying here since 2017 and just booked my next stay.
- dean (10/5): - Staff was excellent
- Terry (10/5): - Fun. Beach front
- Veronica (10/5): - Helen was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was right on the beach with a beautiful balcony.
- Michelle (10/5): Great place to stay - Mayan Princess is an amazing place to stay. It's location is fantastic as it sits very close to the airport, but literally right next to the ferry dock. Fantastically located along the waterfront and actually has a beach and private dock, not just a water edge. Close restaurants and small shops which are unbelievably close by and an easy 1-3 block block. Clean. Amazing staff. So glad we stayed there.
- Shannon (8/5): - The staff was great! Easy to get around.. the beach could be cleaner and I know it’s not the Hotels fault but the Dog that lives right behind barks all night! So if you are easily disturbed you won’t get much sleep! Everyone in the hotel complained about the dog..
- Mary (10/5): - Perfect location. Clean. Nice staff. Spacious room. Loved the balcony.
- Shamaree (10/5): - We had a great time! Right on the beach and walkable to food and shopping. As a travel agent I’ll definitely recommend the Mayan Princess to my clients!
- Jane (10/5): - We were so impressed with everything about this place! Beautiful view and we could sit on our balcony and watch all the beach activities and see the reef! Lots of places to eat and shop (particularly loved Estels by the Sea and Lily's Treasure Chest). We swam and snorkeled right off the beach every day. Staff was awesome, helped me get a 2 hour earlier flight back to the mainland when my phone didn't work, and also helped us arrange excursions. Never met anyone without a smile. Accommodations were great, clean and with just enough space for comfort and convenience. Would definitely stay again!!
- Shane (6/5): - Dogs and construction going on at all hours of the day, not much of a beach.
- rkbrunner1 (10/5): Mayan Princess great place to stay! - The accommodations were outstanding. I had a King Suite the sheets were super comfortable and the room nice and quiet. You are right in the middle of town. Ask the staff for their recommendations on restaurants. The staff was always friendly and helpful.
Highly recommend
- Brandon (10/5): - This place was great. Perfectly located near the water. Great staff. I would definitely come back.
- AlbertaJack007 (10/5): Great hotel in a perfect location. - Great hotel with a perfect location. We were very impressed with the Mayan Princess. It is right on the beach with a dive shop steps away. There are many reastauants and shopping close by. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and hospitable. The rooms were spacious with comfortable beds and pillows. There was a kitchenette. I would recommend the Mayan Princess to anyone coming to San Pedro.
- Daniel (10/5): - This is an older property but in great condition. The location is perfect, close to everything we did
- lilianmU5724GC (10/5): Fabulous highly recommend!!!!! - Excellent hospitality! Friendliness! Attention to the guests and service! We highly recommend the hotel! Great location in downtown San Pedro. Thanks Rosa, Natalie, Stephanie, Helen, Adelita for making our stay very enjoyable!!!!!!
- michaelcT547BM (10/5): Classical Hotel in downtown Belize on the beach - For the third year in a row, we had a great stay at this classical small hotel in San Pedro, Belize. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful going out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. The rooms were spotless .The view from the property was stunning with gorgeous morning sunrises. The dock was another highlight as well as the swimming. Location was close to everything.
Special shout out Ireni, Natalie, Helen, Nia, Stephanie, Alvin, Manny, Angelina and Smitty.
- Lucas (10/5): - It was right next to the Caribbean Sprinter and Amigos Del Mar Dive Shop. Perfect place to stay for a couple days of diving.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff are amazing and friendly. You are so welcomed they try to accommodate every need you have
- William Cary (8/5): - Beautiful location
- Tim (10/5): - Beautiful place to stay but you will need a car. We would stay here again
- 340emat (10/5): Amazing stay with my friend d - Great location at the beach, right next to the «city center». We used the sunbeds on the dock, and enjoyed the sunny days. Very comfortable room and beds. Lovely big balcony, with both privacy and the best view over the ocean. The staff were so helpful and amazing! Highly recommend - you will not be disappointed 😊
- warygary (10/5): A nice hotel in a great spot - The location is great if you like being in the heart of San Pedro. It's next to the San Pedro - Belize Express terminal and about a 20 minute walk to the airport. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were comfortable. Most rooms have a nice balcony overlooking the beach
- Anukriti (8/5): - The staff, specially Helen was very friendly and accommodating to our requests. The location is convenient. Shopping places and dining areas close by and walkable.
- Mikala (10/5): - This was a great place to stay. Clean accommodations and friendly staff. Many shops and restaurants within walking distance. The Caribbean sprinter water taxi terminal was a two minute walk to the doors of the hotel. Belize was a great vacation. We utilized a golf cart to get around the island which was convenient.
- helen (10/5): - Very happy with our stay! Wifi was fast, location was right on the beach and next to central park which made meeting up for tour groups less than a minute walk away. Our room had a balcony and was clean. The AC was nice but there was just so much humidity. I think a dehumidifier would help make the room feel "cooler". I would recommend this place! You could also purchase 0.5-5 gallons of water for a good rate from the front desk.
- Jan (10/5): - Nothing not to like...great staff, location, view, comfy studio apt. With great porch overlooking ocean
- Arif (10/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is by the beach. Wonderful view from the room balcony.
- patnO6576UV (10/5): GREAT Hotel in the San Pedro town center on Ambergris Caye - Close (3 min walk) to the Ferry terminal and the town center of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. The hotel rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable for our family vacation. With nice kitchenettes, air conditioning, beach towels, and an ocean view balcony with tables and chairs, we couldn’t ask for more.
Other than the perfect hotel for our family, the staff was a perfect 10+, kind, accommodating, with a keen focus on hospitality. All of their recommendations for activities and restaurants were spot on! They easily made all of us feel right at home.
- Thomas (10/5): Perfect place for a week of scuba diving and rum. - Excellent location in the heart of San Pedro. Easy walk to everything. Get a golf cart to head out further. Staff were friendly and helpful and the price was fair. Make friends with the locals for better experience. I would absolutely stay here again.
- Lori (10/5): - Beautiful hotel right in the heart of San Pedro, with oceanfront views, and easy beach access. Rooms were simple, clean, and the staff were all incredibly accommodating and lovely.
- Sara Bible (10/5): - We’ve stayed here on two different trips and have been very happy both times. The entrance isn’t on the front of the street, it’s on the side, which makes it hard to find initially. The hotel is so welcoming, very clean and every room faces the ocean. We’ve stayed on the 1st and 2nd floors. All of the rooms have large balconies overlooking the beach with tables and hooks for hammocks. The little kitchens are convenient and include a burner for cooking. There’s quite a bit of storage too. The lobby has all the basics you can use before walking out of the hotel. They have beach towels, sunscreen, bug spray etc. They also have a little pier with a couple Adirondack chairs to sit on. Very pleasant! There’s a restaurant/bar nearby called The Black Pearl. Next to that, up the stairs, is a little breakfast shop that sells fresh made baked items, breakfast and local coffee. It’s also very convenient to get to the little airport to fly to Belize city. It’s not close enough to hear the “puddle jumper” planes though. If an elevator is needed, specify the 1st floor because most hotels do not have elevators in San Pedro.
We’ve snorkeled with Chuck and Robbie’s Diveshop both trips and have had an excellent time. Brandon was our guide both trips. (Chuck and Robbie’s is close to the hotel). We rented our golf carts from Isla Bonita Golf Carts and have been very pleased each time.
I definitely recommend this hotel.
- Rhonda Darlene (10/5): - Staff was great, clean, safe, walking distance to shops, restaurants, transportation.
- Mark (10/5): - Great place, if I come back to San Pedro I will probably stay there at this Hotel again.
- Kelly (8/5): - Room was good, with a great view. Several times we did find the maintenance staffs keys (which contained all the room keys) in a closet or door with no one around. Also, our toilet had an issue flushing. But otherwise the room was great as described and again the view and location were great.
- Jarred (10/5): - Overall great spot in a great location with great staff.
- ANN (8/5): - Host Carolita attended to us with caring and kindness. She is an excellent cook on site too.
- Erica (10/5): - I loved my entire time spent at the Mayan Princess Hotel. From the minute I checked in, Natalie, Helen, the wonderfully sweet Housekeeping staff, and Security who ensured I was safe every night. Natalie and Helen at the Front Desk went above and beyond with their customer service. They always greeted me with Ms. Erica which is a very nice touch. There's multiple examples of them both going the extra mile and I was very grateful. Mayan Princess is the cutest boutique hotel. The room was perfect for me, the AC worked beautifully, the bed was comfy, the kitchenette was a nice addition, but mostly, the beachfront balcony. It's centrally located within San Pedro Town. It's a safe area with plenty to see and do around. I walked the area each day/evening and never felt unsafe. San Pedro is a lovely island with beautiful and kind people, an island I fell in love with, and would definitely stay at the Mayan Princess when I return. Thank you for making my solo vacation a great one. Feeling safe and cared for was a huge plus.
- Hnin Hnin (10/5): - Loved the view and it was so convenient to have onsite babysitting so that we could go enjoy a day of excursions. Our babysitter was so sweet and she did a great job watching my daughter.
- Mylon (10/5): - Nice property
- Tamara (10/5): - Would definitely recommend and coming back again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Would definitely recommend and coming back again
- Janette (10/5): - 10/10 pretty much walking distance from everything
- Paul (10/5): - Staff was so outgoing and friendly! Really nice stay!
- Donald (8/5): - The location and view cannot be beat. The front desk help is excellent and very responsive. The rooms can use a few updates, but everything worked and was quite comfortable. The only things I did not like were the sargassum removal which was not done as frequently as the nearby businesses. Also, the sand moving project made it nearly impossible to access the beach from the front door. To get to the beach required walking around the block to the next road over that went to the beach
- WARREN W (8/5): - great location
- Samuel (8/5): - There was a dog barking late evening.
- Dudley (2/5): - Ants was on the bed the entire
- Blaine (8/5): - Safe and near so much including a small beach area with also a big deck.
- Allison (10/5): - Would have to be really creative to say anything negative about this hotel. Great location, very clean, friendly staff, and well maintained property. Have nothing negative to say
- Sharrett (8/5): - Friendly staff convenient location
- Maximiliano (8/5): Awsome expierence - Very good. Nice view from our room. Reef right infront. Room confortable.Help from the staff very good. Hotel centrally located. Church, park, pharmacy, shops at walking distance.
- Tina (10/5): Great Beach Front Room - We really enjoyed this room. We stayed for three weeks and it made a nice home away from home. It was comfortable and clean. The location is right on the beach and close to lots of restaurants and shops. We would definitely stay at the Mayan Princess again.
- Arnoldo (10/5): - The staff were super friendly and polite, the assisted us in getting gold carts, food and other needs as the trip was a last minute one. The convenience of the aforementioned also comes into play due to everything being planned last minute on my part. 5/5 and would recommend!
- Lynn (10/5): Wonderful people - Absolutely loved it. The people there were caring and wonderful.
- Kenneth (8/5): - Dog barking at night woke us up a lot.
- Janina (8/5): - I loved the beachfront location. Also, it is central to the downtown area so easy to walk to most of the restaurants, shops and bars. The staff were friendly and helpful at times, but many were new or not from San Pedro so couldn't help with recommendations. The beachfront location ,unfortunately, came with the inconvenience of noise. The beach area and pier were used as a playground for teens and families with small children and was extremely noisy throughout the day and into the evening. The pier is for guest only but there is no one to monitor so everyone uses it. Often all the chairs were occupied by locals. I was hit in the face with a soccer ball because the teens were allowed to play soccer on the pier. So, bottom line, if you like peace and quiet to relax or read, etc., this is not a good location.
- Jeffrey (8/5): - A prime location with ocean views and lots of activity down on the water to watch. Very nice staff.
- MICHAEL (8/5): - Nice and cold AC, walking distance to fishing charters, snorkling. Good food nearby. Stayed for acouple of days. Keep yourself busy with activities during the day! Great stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean, spacious, oceanfront view, good staff
We booked 2 weeks at the Mayan Princess. It is a clean, basic hotel & well situated in town. Spacious balcony - loved the hammock, but a lounger too would have been nice so we both had somewhere comfortable to sit out there. It’s a short walk south to better swimming areas. The staff was nice and helpful.
The kitchen was minimally stocked, no large bowls, cutting board, s&p shakers, storage containers etc. Maybe individual owners are responsible for outfitting their units, but a few more kitchen items would have been appreciated.
It is a noisy beach. A restaurant patio is close by. Intermittent construction, screaming kids play soccer until dark, barking dogs etc. Skip this place if you’re looking for quiet and relaxing.
The wifi is slow and drops out often. Black out drapes are desperately needed unless you can sleep with lights from the docks shining through your window all night and love waking up at the crack of dawn. We lasted all of 2 nights before we bought a curtain rod and black out panel for the opening between the kitchen and the bed.
Lastly, they do not provide multiple room keys. They give you the option of leaving your key at the front desk for the other person to pick up if they get back first.
Overall, we got what we paid for, but a few changes would have made our stay just a bit nicer. In the end we left 3 days early to go relax at a quieter property before heading home.
- Randall (10/5): - The staff was so nice and very accommodating! Thank you!!
- Andria (8/5): - Stayed here during a birthday trip and the staff was great! Nathaly at the front desk was very helpful and provided good restaurants to try. The hotel is located in the heart of the town so it's within walking distance to everything. Beachfront and the hammock were the best parts.
- Lirim (10/5): - For what you pay you can’t beat the location if you want to be close to all the dining options. Although, being in the center of town……there is a ton of traffic. Lots of golf carts. The hotel itself is older but very clean. The staff were very friendly and accommodating if needed. Great hotel with a beach access area.
- James C (10/5): - Great staff, great room...loved it
- Aaron (10/5): Location - Steps away from the beach and very close to town. Good food all around, and any tour you need is readily available next to the hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Incredible staff large deck. Staff was very accommodating and helpful
