- Irina (3/5): Never ever again for this price ! - It’s just right at the pier where ferry arrives! Tiny walls you can hear any noise and even steps of your neighbors. All furniture are super old. You must share toilet and shower with the whole floor! Extremely expensive and there is nothing including in the price! Super noisy location it’s hard to fall asleep before 3 am all people are drinking and having fun in the street so you can hear everything!

The owner was fantastic and very helpful. It was extremely clean. They did a nice job the next morning cleaning up for us very attentive staff very secure and safe. Love that we had a use of bicycles. We did them two days in a row .Had a wonderful time and will definitely be going back. We celebrated my sister’s 60th birthday and they had no problem with us decorating the room as long as we used their painters tape. It was fantastic. I’m going back for my other sisters 70th birthday. I just had really heavy luggage and there was no elevator, but we had some help so it wasn’t so bad just pack less

It’s very clean and more updated (than others), but the staff is what the true stand out is. Tyler and everyone else was really great and made our stay wonderful! I would definitely recommend staying here! You can also use their chairs, umbrellas and bikes. Also reasonably priced 😊 Nothing!

- Christian (10/5): - We stayed one night and this hotel was awesome. First, they allow a 11:30 am check in which is rare. We were visiting friends so we dropped bags off and came back late night but it was convenient be able to do so. The room was immaculate and even though the bathrooms are shared, you get the full bathroom to yourself when you use it. The location is great just outside the ferry terminal. It’s very loud at night but we brought earplugs. Most importantly, staff are very friendly and held on to our bags until 2 pm the next day. They also offer coffee, fruits and pastry bites which was unexpected. In conclusion, well worth the money and I highly recommend.

I loved the fresh lemon and mint water available to guests. Our room was supplied with two beach chairs and a beach umbrella - all in great condition. The beds were comfortable and bathrooms super clean and private. What’s more, we felt safe. The staff were all friendly, helpful, and always went the extra mile to ensure a comfortable stay. Whether it was providing recommendations for local attractions or assisting with luggage, their service was outstanding. The hotel is just steps away from the ferry and right at the heart of action in the town of Ocean Beach. If you're a light sleeper, pack earplugs. The area comes alive at night! Overall if you're looking for a clean, convenient, and enjoyable stay, I highly recommend this hotel! We look forward to coming back.

- Zaz (7/5): Good - My six year old ,her aunt, and myself wanted an adventure of sorts, and we got it! We got off the ferry and didn't have to look very far for Clegg's Hotel..its right there! We were able to drop our gear and use the restroom before our room was ready. The trade store below the hotel has refreshing smoothies, groceries, almost anything you may have forgotten, and can't live without. Everything from eateries to apparel are right there and the beach is an 10 minute straight paved walk. We even bought some seashells by the seashore from a friendly little girl who painted the shells. After a long day we were happy to clean up and go to sleep!

Room was spotless and bathrooms were kept spotless. All of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Yes, it is a basic room and yes bathrooms are in the hallway. Neither was an issue, and both served their purpose where the beach is the main attraction, and your room is really nothing more than a place to sleep at night. Price is a bit high but it's basic supply and demand in a beach town in summer....prices are high for everything on Ocean Beach where the main source of getting supplies is the ferry...

- Megan (8/5): Pleasant stay if you have managed expectations - loved how close it was to the ferry, literally steps away. and loved the use of bikes, beach chairs and umbrella that came with the room. the town is super cute and the beach is beautiful but be warned, on Friday and Saturday nights its legit the jersey shore, music blasting until really late. and the bars are right across from cleggs. I brought noise canceling headphones so I was fine. shared bathroom was not bad at all bc theyre singles with a shower and toilet you can lock the door. Tyler the owner was very nice and accommodating. I had a great stay here.

We stayed at a regular room for two with a shared bathroom. I was worried about that, but I was suprised how easy it was. There are 6 bathrooms and they are super clean, spacious and very bright. It is located near stores, ice cream shops, restaurants and the beach is about 10 mins walk. Great beach. Very safe, very peaceful and police is always around checking that people follow rules. I would definitely come back to this hotel for more days!

- Sarah (10/5): - I was a little worried about having a shared bathroom situation in a hotel, but it turned out to be totally fine! They were clean and large and felt pretty private. The owner, Tyler, was super sweet to me and allowed me to refrigerate my wine! He was extremely accomodating overall and has the cutest dog. They had some pastries available from breakfast until they are gone, and fruit as well. They also have some fruit/mint infused water if that's your thing. The room smelled super nice, like an ocean breeze candle, was clean, and was much larger than expected. Overall no frills, but plenty of space for luggage and came with some backpack beach chairs in the closet and bikes available for use. The location is amazing, right in the middle of the strip with all the shops, bars, and restaurants. It seemed like it might be loud, but when i went to sleep the AC was definitely able to drown it out. I did think it was a little strange that they turned the AC off when they came to clean, but we just switched it back on so it was cool when we came back for a nap, etc later. I would definitely stay here again!

We had a private bathroom in our room but most rooms on the property share bathrooms. If we didn’t have a private bathroom we would not have stayed there.

- Kornelija (8/5): - Overall it was ok. Overwhelming smell of air freshener and the ac was loud in room 4. No Tv and no chair by the desk in the room. Also the ferry terminal walkway was right there so you get woken up by people at 7am walking past the room. However, close to everything and accommodating with keeping the luggage till the ferry time. Also bicycles were a nice option to use as well as beach chairs and umbrella.

Staff was reliable as my cell service was spotty and they agreed to an early morning door knock wake up call. Would stay there again.

- Diana (2/5): - I originally booked our room for 2 people. A week before the trip I called the hotel and asked if we could upgrade to a suite. He explained they didn’t have one but has a 3 person room that would cost more. I told him it would be fine And to make the change. On Friday my bill was charged on my credit card and an e-mail was sent letting me know if the charges. That’s when I realized they never change us to a larger room. So I called Friday again before I arrived and requested the room again and alerted them of the mistake. They said they no longer had a 3 person room available and would give us a cot. I was mad but didn’t have any other choice. When we arrived the hotel at first said we have no record of you requesting this and the rooms to small for a cot. After arguing and showing the attendant all of. The calls and the length of the calls mad to the hotel prior to our arrival she got us a cot. One give the cot our room had no working power outlets and had dirty sheet which we asked to be replace.she did have the sheets replace but it’s pretty disturbing to See dirty sheets on a bed during a pandemic. As if this wasn’t bad enough the cot was broken and sunk all the way down on one side. Even more pathetic my Bill was supposed to be just over $600 and they had the net to charge me over $1,000. I’ve stayed at this hotel multiple times this year and. In previous years but I will not Be back.

- Nick (8/5): Manage your expectations, leave happy - The key to Clegg’s is knowing what you’re getting. It’s a simple, friendly surf lodge — not quite a hotel. There aren’t TVs in the room, or pictures on the wall. You share bathroom facilities. But that’s all surprisingly fine. It’s quaint, and the staff is warm, and you’re not on Fire Island to hang out in your room anyway. The location is ideal — steps from the ferry, on the bay, in the heart of town square. It’s festive. Each room comes with beach chairs and an umbrella. Bike rentals are free. It’s a very laid-back experience, which fits the vibe of the island perfectly. Just don’t come in expecting a Hilton, or even a Motel 6, or you’ll be disappointed. Come expecting a clean, friendly place to wash off and sleep, in a perfect spot on the island, and you’ll be happy.
