- dderegis2022 (2/5): There are now other options. - Went with a friend for an overnight. The room was great, as were the treatments themselves. We've been going to Mirabeau for decades. It was always something to look forward to, unparalleled by others. Sadly, the service and condition of the property have declined dramatically. As overnight guests, we brought our bags in with us for our first treatments a 10am, knowing check-in was much later. This had always been the norm. We were greeted by desk staff with "Unfortunately, our rooms are not ready this early," along with a snarky expression. We explained that we wanted to leave our bags inside and were told, "Oh yes, that's what that closet is for." So, why greet guests immediately with the word "Unfortunately?" Down to the spa. Younger, inexperienced staff at the desk. Seemed to fumble around not exactly knowing what to do. We were taken to the locker room which, we realized after entering, had been switched with the mens locker room. It smelled awful of sweat and mold. The lockers don't work (had to have them opened by staff), one of the stalls was continuously clogged and there is a water mark from a leak across the entire back wall. The best word I can use is dingy. We mentioned the smell to a staff member and they sprayed something in there that was so overwhelming it too was unbearable. On to the waiting room, which used to be amazing. The cushions in front of the foot pool are worn down to nothing, as are the cushions along the fireplace. There is no structure left in them. The fireplace glass is filthy. I watched person after person leave their lounge chair while a new person would come and sit in the same one. No towel change. It seemed the staff was only doing this on the hour. I do agree with another reviewer who addressed the 50 minute treatment. By the time you're called in 3-4 minutes late, it doesn't leave a whole lot of time for the full experience, nor I would imagine, cleaning in between clients. There is no longer fruit in the waiting room. Once we were finished, we went to the spa desk to check out. I had made the reservation for both of us. Their systems are so antiquated, again a sign that no money has been invested back into this location. They couldn't figure out how to charge each of us for our treatments. My friend had to literally Venmo me for her treatments so they could put everything on my room. She asked that the manager contact her because of the condition of the locker room and no one did. Lunch- we went up for our reservation 6 minutes early. We were told that since we were 6 minutes early, they couldn't seat us. I glanced into the dining room and there was not one table occupied, just one on the porch and a couple at one of the high tops in the lounge area. My friend wasn't feeling well and asked if we could just sit with some water and we were told we could sit in the lounge area. I've had friends who've been scolded for whispering too loudly in the spa waiting area. There was a group of four young women loudly using the F word both in the locker room and on the porch where we were eating lunch. Not a word was said. Upon check out, I had to go down to the spa regarding my bill, which was correct in the end but difficult to decipher. I mentioned to the male at the desk that I found their systems to be very outdated (having to Venmo each other for services). He replied "I'm sorry to hear that." Overall, there is a lack of training (service staff) as well as a complete lack of reinvestment into the facilities. It saddens me to say that Mirbeau is no longer the Gold Standard it used to be. It looks exactly as is has for the past 20+ years, with no upgrades or improvements and no investment in personnel either. Professionalism used to be oozing from the place the minute you walked in the door. Not any longer. A Mirabeau experience comes at a premium and it should give that in return. With other spas in the area like Fields down the street, The Lake House in Canandaigua and the spa at the Turningstone there are now a lot of other options.
- Gary003 (10/5): Best Couples Retreat - This atmospheric replica of Monet's gardens in France is all about time together with the one you love. The spa experience is the highlight here as relaxation and pampering is the focus at Mirbeau. My wife always has a premier cru facial and I always have the men's estate facial. We always schedule these with the unbelievably talented Katie who works wonders on you, providing the best facials that we have ever had anywhere period. Sometimes we add other treatments which are equally excellent. We spend real time in the unique relaxation room which looks like something out of ancient Rome plus taking full advantage of the invigorating outdoor hot tub/pool in all seasons and the wet and dry saunas. Whatever you do, don't forget your swimming suit! We wear our cozy Mirbeau robes all day long around the property including breakfast or lunch. Top off the day with a special dining experience in the elegant (and unrushed) French country dining room overlooking Monet's bridge, water lilies, and gardens. Take the banquette table in the back corner to fully take in the elegance or sit up close to the gardens in the all weather porch area. We love the salmon and halibut dishes and never miss the seasonally inspired crème brulee which is second to none. We always spend two evenings here on each trip and we visit 3 or 4 times each and every year. It never gets old for us. Coming here means this much to us and does that much for us. Everyone here treats you like family.
- corryj2020 (4/5): On a downward, out of control, spiral - First I want to start of on a positive note. This place is quiet and most of the time relaxing. I wish everyone could have experienced the Mirbeau that my family and I experience two to three years ago. This place used to be a true gem for a getaway. My wife and I have been using this place for a getaway 2 to 4 times a year for approximately the last 6 years. As our 3 children became adult, they also started to appreciate the relaxing getaway the Mirbeau offered close to home. This place was truly worth every penny spent. The stay comes at a premium cost and the service was to match. Over the past year the place is in a downward, out of control, spiral and it grieves me to say this because we absolutely loved this place. The last 3 times we have stayed we had told ourselves just one more time maybe they were just running short on help or adjusting to changes ect. Now I can honestly say we will not return after our recent stay. The treatments have turned into an assembly line with less product being used and no personal touches anymore. The locker rooms are filthy with piles of used towels and robs on the floors. My personal favorite has always been the eucalyptus steam room, which now smells like arm pit and dirty feet with no eucalyptus anymore. Majority of the lockers have out of service on them and the garbage is overflowing. The fire place in the library common area and in our room did not work. I cant speak for the rest of the rooms. The bar in the jacuzzi and treatment area was closed, which this is not a huge deal, but its nice to not have to dry off and go all the way up stairs to get a drink at he bar which was crowed due to only having one open. The dinning is what really sealed the deal for us this time. This used to be a staple for us. the food was phenomenal along with the atmosphere. This go around we ordered and waited an hour and didn't even get our margarita we ordered much less our food. Obviously we just got up and left and went back to our room. It goes back to my statement before. You are going to pay a premium you expect the service to match.
- G7509OFjohnl (10/5): A Magical Place - Anniversary trip...33rd year...and we could not have picked a better place. With the pond and lush greenery all about and gentle music all around it feels like you have been transported to a peaceful retreat.We had 4 nights..and enjoyed the spa for facials and pedicures. The lounge and restaurant are both marvelous...great breakfast...inventive cocktails and superb food. The town is close and is charming and welcoming. First time in the Finger Lake region..and it is well worth a visit. Highly recommend Mirbeau for couples...rooms are spacious and spotless and the entire staff is just marvelous. Treat yourself to a special vacation here...you will not be disappointed.

- scottg964 (8/5): Cozy French Resort - We stayed for two nights at Mirabeau as the last leg of our finger lake trip. This is beautiful property and we loved the French theme. We had dinner on property our first night and the meal was fantastic. They have a nice bar and sitting room as well just before you enter the dining room. Our room was nice and large with a fireplace and nice view of the garden and pond. On the negative side, the hot tub area in the spa was under maintenance, so we were unable to use it. We didn’t get any communication ahead of time that the hot tub would be unavailable during our visit which was a disappointment. The manager was kind enough to take 20% off of our bill due to this issue. Overall it was a great experience and we enjoyed our stay.

- B6529GAannem (4/5): Deeply disappointing - I stayed with my daughter for my birthday, 2 nights. With prices like this, one should not leave stressed. But we did. Staff - restaurant, housekeeping, gardeners, spa - were lovely, with the exception of one front deck person, who was most decidedly not. The grounds are lovely. The birthday dinner, with the wonderful Julianna at the reception desk & Liz as server, was top notch. So were the blood orange martinis. Breakfast was only okay, with avocado “toast” not toasted & with no offer of more than one cup of the very expensive coffee. The inn’s “system” was new (installed in May) and had many bugs, from online reservation snafus to duplicative statements and missing receipts. I had apology after apology from multiple staff about it. I had no return emails from May to August - a front desk person told me General Manager Richard Malcolm was not good at returning them and would have her own manager contact me, which didn’t happen. The rooms are dark and it was hard to find things - basic things like light switches. Fortunately I had my iPhone flashlight and also called the front desk a few times for help. One of those times, so frustrated, when I told the person at the other end I was going to drink heavily at dinner, she laughed. Wrong move, even though I know she thought it was funny - an “I’m so sorry” could’ve helped. The “Lofti” device in my room had multiple intrigriging functions, but despite an info sheet, was very frustrating to work, and I’m supposedly really good at tech. I finally unplugged it. We left hours early. The front desk checkout experience left a final bad taste in our mouth. That particular young woman needs in depth customer service training. We just had to get away. We did stop at a local diner in the country for breakfast on the way home and it was great.

- HuntFoodLove (6/5): Overpriced and overrated - Mirbeau in Skaneateles is better suited for daytime spa services rather than an overnight destination experience. While my massage was very well executed, there is nothing else the spa has to offer other than a warm foot bath in the waiting area and rather small outdoor hot tub. The spa services as well as the dining options are incredibly overpriced. Food was subpar and underseasoned. We encountered additional issues due to a 3 hour power outage. For the prices they are charging, perhaps they should invest in a better chef, a cold plunge pool, and generator! Highly recommend Aurora Inn and Spa in Aurora, NY instead.

- Craig (10/5): Bats waaaaay above the competition. Get ready for your expectations to be surpassed. - The property stuns from the first moment. Just absolutely gorgeous inside and out and with nods to history and nature that are so tasteful. Literally every person working on the staff, from the front desk to the spa treated us like we were the most important person they talked to that day, and believe me that is a rarity. We ate a late lunch and breakfast at the hotel and the food was prepared in a very elevated way and really quite a surprisingly good value for the price in a place this nice. I had a massage in the spa and everything from the employees to the spa area to the massage and masseuse were top-tier. The location is also amazing, with super easy walking access to the town, where a slew of cute shops and restaurants awaits. Oh and the room really knocked our socks off, just beautiful details from top to bottom. If I'm being really picky, the wine pours were a bit on the scant side, but the selection and prices were absolutely terrific so maybe it was a fair value for the price. That's about all I could think of. We are going to be back here many times again in the future for sure!
- wingedheart70 (6/5): Fun to try - 3.5 - My husband and I had a 2 night, 3 day mid-week getaway at Mirbeau in June. Overall, we had a very relaxing experience. Rooms - we had a king room with a garden view on the first floor. It was spacious with a seating area next to a fireplace. There was a claw foot tub and a separate shower. Not a huge fan of having a shower curtain. As others have mentioned the paint and lighting in the rooms make it quite dark and, the dark color on the ceiling made it feel closed in. The dark colors are also a stark contrast to the lush gardens outside. The sliding glass doors opened onto an outdoor area shared with a few other rooms. There was a bistro set near the pond and we were able to enjoy breakfast there. We saw all the koi, ducks/birds, bunnies and frogs. The area is lovely but some areas could use some weeding. Spa - the spa dressing rooms are well appointed. There are changing areas, rest rooms, showers, lockers, a sauna and a steam room. They have ice cold washcloths, towels, ice water, every toiletry you might need, hairdryers and even a swimsuit dryer. The quiet room has several reclining beds where you can rest, read, sleep, wait for a treatment. They surround a foot bath where you sit on cushions on the floor. There's ice water and hot tea available. White noise machines drown out most noise creating a peaceful atmosphere. The aqua terrace is just outside. It has an oversized hot tub area, a seating area with four cushioned chairs around a fireplace, several other table and chair groupings and a bar. The hot tub is nice, very relaxing after a massage or class. It's not a very large area overall, and we did have trouble finding a seat one of the days. On hot days, it would be nice to have a cooler pool area or a cold plunge pool. Treatments - we had a couples massage, something we have done many times at other spas. My husband had a wonderful experience with his massage. She focused on his problem areas and did a wonderful job. My massage was quite the opposite. It did not seem like a professional massage. I spent about 90% of the time on my stomach which became quite uncomfortable. The massuese was rough and parts of the experience were painful. After the massage when we went to settle up and have everything billed to our room, we had to stand in line for a half hour. The attendant was clearly new and overwhelmed. We did express that we had a mixed review on our treatment. At first, we were charged double, but eventually, after my husband went back to the desk later, the error was corrected and, we were given a small percentage off the treatment. I did email the spa manager at the encouragement of the staff, but received no reply. Dining - we had 1 room service breakfast, 1 breakfast and 1 lunch in the dining room on the porch. The breakfasts were average. Lunch was fantastic! I would recommend reservations for every meal, even if the restaurant looks empty - you'll be seated much quicker. We waited half hour to be seated for lunch one day even though the dining room was only a quarter full. They have a very strange process for seating guests. Staff - In my opinion, this is the shining star of Mirbeau. We found a great majority of the staff to be very polite, professional, accommodating and outgoing. This was particularly impressive to us as most of them are on the younger side. Kudos to the staff on a job well done! Overall, we had a relaxing getaway. But, based on our treatment experience and for the expensive price tag, I think we would try a different place next time.

The spa is really nice with a quiet area and outdoor hot tub. The women's locker room includes a steam and sauna. The location is just outside the village of Skaneateles, but close enough to walk, short drive or ride the bikes that are offer at the Inn. I highly recommend staying at Mirbeau.

Both my wife and I have facials from Katie because she is the best anywhere. The relaxation room is unlike anything that I have ever experienced. The hot tub and the saunas make the overall spa experience here second to none. The redone dining room is elegant yet inviting. It's view out onto Monet's Bridge is atmospheric plus. We loved the potato-crusted salmon and the raspberry flavored crème brulee but John will find what is right for you. And don't forget that Manhattan from Ed at the bar - or whatever else you want! The rooms are timeless French country - not the cookie cutter stuff - with great views of Monet's Gardens. And the rooms are quiet with a great bed and romantic fireplace. This place is all about romance. It is unique. But what really makes this place special is the people. Everyone who works here wants to work here. Everyone here takes an interest in you and all that they want is for you to have the greatest possible stay. Jose and Natalie at the Front Desk will take care of your every need.

We have stayed there many times and in retirement, have made it a ritual to take a mid-winter break there to celebrate our birthdays and spoil ourselves that one time each year. We have never and may I repeat, NEVER, been disappointed. Mirbeau is the model for customer service whether you are talking about the hotel, the spa, or the restaurant. Right from check-in with the desk manager, Kayla, and her assistant, Amethyst, we were made to feel special. Our hostesses in the restaurant, Skye and Angelique, accommodated every request, including making sure we sat at our favorite table for each meal. The bartender, Ed, who has been at Mirbeau forever, never forgets a face and provides outstanding recommendations for wines and pairing choices. My wife's spa treatment by Jen was absolutely spectacular. And the extras like the very well-equipped fitness center and wonderful indoor stream-like open air hot tub are the icing on the cake. We had a perfect stay during a very snowy 2 days in Central NY. Couldn't think of a better place to be snowed in for sure. We recommend Mirbeau Skaneatlas to anyone who wants a relaxing getaway,

Positives are overall overall atmosphere, aesthetics, service, restaurant, spa services, Quiet Room and outdoor hot tub. Negatives are the cottage rooms are awkwardly laid out and VERY DARK. Lighting is poor in every area of the space. Would benefit by improving seating area and a table for room service. While on that topic, we had room service for breakfast. It was delivered in a timely fashion but was not up to the standards we experienced in the restaurant (example, poached eggs on Mirbeau version of Benedict were nearly hard boiled, surprised that would have even left the kitchen). Having said all of that we will return and simply try rooms in the Inn and avoid room service.

Example: no stocked mini fridge, no aroma fragrance, no laundry bag. We just got tired of comparing to previous stays. I would say the service was still very good but with premium prices you expect premium in every aspect. We have stayed 8-10 times over the past 9 years or so. Overall we decided to try a new/different B&B and spa in the future.

My favorite part is the year-round outdoor hot tub. Pair it with a wet or dry sauna in each locker room. Fall asleep in the relaxation room after you get a face or body treatment from Katie. Have breakfast/lunch in your spa robe in this French country retreat. Relaxation and getting away from it all is what this place is all about. It is a whole different world. On top of it all, it is like you have been transported to the French countryside.
- ChristinaUliana (10/5): Best Massage - My future daughter in law and I had a day trip to Mirbeau in Skaneateles, with signature massage treatments and lunch. They welcomed us with Prosecco vouchers to use at the bar or dining room, and gracious hospitality. We were able to use the spa facilities for an hour prior to our massage treatments. There is an aqua terrace with outdoor hot tub made to look like a natural hot spring, (there is bar service on the terrace and also a fireplace). Inside there is a dry sauna and a steam room. Amenities were laid out nicely in the locker rooms. The lockers are a bit small, but we made do. The "quiet room" is a restful, candle lit room with chaise lounges to rest on before or after your treatments. Everyone was very gracious and hospitable and I do have to say what drove me here to write a review was my massage therapist, Mary. I have had many spa/massage treatments, but this was probably my favorite. She is obviously highly educated in anatomy and kinesiology. I told her that her hands felt like tools - I hope I didn't offend her- but it was that good! Highly recommend Mary in the spa. We then had lunch (you can head over in your spa robes if you like) which was very good. Very nice experience for the day.

Every day we complained but nothing was done to fix the problem. It happened every day. I asked that the GM be notified and the front desk person said he was. Yet he never reached out to us to show concern for our problem. We were there to celebrate our anniversary. This certainly put a damper on our weekend. We spent over $1300 for 2 days yet couldn’t get a hot shower?? If you are staying there please avoid room 411.

- K4939ZKseana (10/5): Relaxation and hospitality at its finest - I felt like royalty as soon as I arrived. I had been just about a month prior and decided to go back last minute. The staff is incredible. Welcoming and attentive to every detail (room service requests, house keeping requests). My room was ready quite a bit early before my scheduled check in and the front desk staff greeted me with a glass of bubbly and a warm, inviting welcome back. I stayed in one of the cottage locations on the upper level which I prefer for quiet. It was quiet. I had no issue with outside noise (except a bit for my last day when I was scheduled to check out - neighbors leaving and doors slamming in the wind) Besides my room (perfectly comfortable bed, pillows, sheets, fireplace, soaking tub (hot water was lacking a bit there) I would have to say the SPA is the reason I come back. The Mens foot treatment I was slightly nervous about but felt so relaxed and at ease with my therapist. The ritual body treatment was one of the top 3 experiences of my trip! Exfoliating scrub that dissolves away to this moisture treatment that doesn’t require a shower to rinse - it was phenomenal and one I cannot wait to come back to. The Ashiatsu massage is one of the reasons I fell in love with the SPA at Mirbeau. If a traditional Swedish massage and a deep tissue massage had a baby that grew up it would be named Ashiatsu! Don’t be scared - you’ll thank me for it ! And end with a facial. The men’s estate facial is relaxing and perfect. I went for relaxation and that is exactly what I experienced. (The bar staff makes the perfect cocktail from an espresso martini to get you to your next spa treatment, to a perfect old fashion with new friends you made). I am looking forward to coming back! 9.5 out of 10!
- krisTlee1378 (6/5): Underwhelmed for the price - I'll preface this review with stating I've stayed at several luxury spa hotels. Spa Mirbeau Skaneateles is a small, quaint inn set on this picturesque lakeside village. The service is warm and friendly. I was impressed by how welcoming and accommodating every single staff and service member was toward myself and other guests. They certainly strive to please. The grounds feel compact, a little confining. The gardens a koi pond is pretty, but not well lit at night, and imho cluttered (just not my style). The rooms are spacious, well appointed, albeit dark. The bathroom is gorgeous with large clawfoot soaking tubs and tiled showers. The food was decent, pricey, but not out of the realm for a luxury hotel. While the spa services were excellent, the spa itself is underwhelming. The aqua terrace is very small and was quite crowded for an "off peak" time. I can't imagine what it would be like at full capacity. There was barely room for people to sit and the terrace is not much more than a glorified hot tub. The quiet room is really dark (I couldn't see to read). There's water and tea, no fruit or snacks. The locker rooms are small, cramped, with one changing area and one toilet. The lockers are miniscule and barely enough room to place a purse and clothing. There is a dry sauna and steam shower, and all of your toiletries nicely laid out. There aren't a lot of activities offered, and if you want to take any fitness classes you need to preregister on the app. I don't think staying here more than a day or two at most would be warranted. What got me was the sticker shock! Check your bill carefully. I found 2 errors. And at over 700.00/night for room alone, not including food, spa treatments, added resort fees the one night was over $1200. So compared to Canyon Ranch, Miraval, and the Lodge at Woodloch (my favorite), Spa Mirbeau left me feeling a little nickel/dimed for what I got. Would I come back? Probably not. Personally, I think the Lodge at Woodloch offers way more for the same or maybe less (with dining included, an unprecedented amount of activities, and spectacular scenery).

- Elsa (10/5): Anniversary - My husband and I went for our 10th anniversary, and it was lovely. Two nights felt like the right amount for us. The facility is really perfect -- beautiful and very well cared for, with every amenity, but also very comfortable. Everything is easy and restful. All of the staff that we encountered went above and beyond to take care of us and make our visit special. No negatives! If I could change one thing, it would be to keep the Aqua Terrace open 1-2 hours later.

- SADEEV (2/5): - We will not recommend this property because of the Staff. The staff is completely untrained. The receptionist does not have basic training and knowledge. She did not even know the location of the room. We unfortunately read reviews after we booked the Hotel because of the very nice pictures and cancellation was not possible. Because of bad reviews we did not want to give our credit card details. The receptionist asked us to deposit $1000 in cash because we did not want to give the Credit Card. We asked for the written policy of the Hotel for such incidentals, it turned out that the Hotel policy was $500. There was nobody available to take out luggage to the room. The restaurant was empty and the manager was aggressive, impolite and asking if we have a reservation. Service at the restaurant was worse than at a one star hotel. My halibut was not fresh, led to a bad stomach at night. A very BAD experience and completely NOTHING about the property for the price charged. At the end of the stay they gave us a 15% discount on the room rate but still $630 for One night for this property is completely unjustified.
