Guest Reviews
- Candace (10/5): Charming and updated. - We had a wonderful 2 night stay at this cute, very clean, updated motel. The hostess was extremely nice and helpful. The room was clean and beautifully updated. The shower was huge! The bed was comfortable, and the room had a Keurig with coffee pods and biscotti. The grounds are well taken care of and clean. The pool was lovely. I really liked the older feel of the property. The sign states the property originated in 1955. It has a lot of charm and I really liked the character of the place. There are a lot of outdoor seating areas, and the property is within walking distance of everything in Kernville. I would definitely stay again!
- Mary (8/5): - Fun, retro and quirky atmosphere. Walk-in shower, clean.
- Kimberley (10/5): - Friendly welcoming staff is part of the charm of this place.
- Douglas (10/5): - This is one of Kernville's hidden gems. A great hotel in the style of the rustic travel lodges of old with new conveniences!!
- Remington (10/5): - N/a
- Richard (10/5): - A Charming Motel with lots of interesting and unusual decor. Our hosts were terrific fun and even provided a musical evening of entertainment (Tuesdays). Room was good, clean and well provisioned with water, coffee and biscuits/snack.
TV, A/C, Fridge and Fan all worked fine.
Could do with a hook to hang towels in the shower room (or did we miss it?).
Micro-brewery next door. Pizza’s down the road. Bakery and Diner just over the bridge and in the village.
A Great Find!
- Norman (10/5): - Excellent stay, and beautiful grounds. Quite, and great view of the courtyard and the mountains. Front desk staff was very friendly and family like invite to the property…… Highly recommend
- Taracina (10/5): - We absolutely loved this charming resort. The room was super clean, comfortable and equipped. Roberta was delightful and very welcoming. She offered us everything that we needed, and made us feel right at home. Even BaBae (the large dog) was just as delightful. When we left, she did not offer a handshake, but insisted on a hug. I love this place, and so will you! I can’t wait to visit her, and this resort again!
- Alysha (10/5): - Had a lovely two night stay with my dog where we were able to explore the nature in the surrounding area. Roberta was super friendly and great at giving advice on the surroundings area’s activities. The businesses in the town square are also all very friendly and accommodating. Was a great getaway and I’d absolutely go again!
- Celeste (10/5): Great Stay! - Wonderful hotel in Kernville! The hosts were so friendly and made it so welcoming to be there!
- Laurie (10/5): Would stay again! - We love staying in Kernville. This was our first time at the Pinecone Inn and we will definitely be back again. Check-in was easy. The property was lovely. Everything was clean and well kept.
- Cheryl (10/5): - The owner was gracious enough to give us an early check in, we loved the Inn and enjoyed the pool area and patio table. We spent part of the day relaxing pool side and setting outside in the evening.

- Brett (8/5): Old hotel with super nice staff & clean rooms - Super nice and helpful staff. It's an old hotel, but clean and had a nice Keurig, fridge & micro in room. The resident Skunk was a little unsettling for me. And yes you will probably see & smell it!
- Marta M (10/5): Cute place with amazing staff - This place has a nice charm! It’s older and my room, although cute and rustic, smelled a bit moldy. The room was big, the bed was comfy and there was a lot of options for coffee and tee in your room! The hotel staff was incredibly nice and were able to extend our stay, just by asking. There were plenty of free snacks at the office which we were offered for free, from microwaved popcorn to candies, cookies and crackers. The only drawback was that there was no blow dryer in the room. Front desk gave us the option to purchase one at a local store. Overall a great place to stay!
- Valerie (6/5): - I wasnt sure what was available to use.
- Mike (10/5): very nice - So nice at arrival. Will be a first try each visit.
- Steven (10/5): Coffee keeps adults alive. - I like the hotel but I had 4 pods of decaf coffee in my room, and no real coffee. That's not acceptable.
- Ric (10/5): - Quaint.
- Rick (8/5): Visit with mom - The hotel was fairly nice. It was clean. The only issue we had was with the heater taking a very long time to heat the room. We figured out that we had to turn off the thermostat and turn it back on to get it to work.

- Peter (10/5): - Great and accommodating staff, really cute rooms, and the flowers surrounding the hotel smell amazing
- Paul (10/5): - We had a very clean comfortable large room at Piazza’s. Family feel and a friendly staff, all of that made it a really nice stay. They also had a great amount knowledge of the local area and recommended some good restaurants, all walkable from Piazza’s. We will definitely be back, it's a perfect base camp for a lot of great hiking in Kernville.
- Sam (10/5): - A beautiful and unique place!
- Stephanie (10/5): - Comfy, cozy, and clean!!
- Gene (10/5): - Roberta treated my wife and I as if we were royalty! They were friendly, helpful and courteous. I will go back there every chance I get.
- Shayne (10/5): - My wife and I have been going to kernville for several year, this is now our new favorite pace to stay. The staff is very nice and helpful. The rooms are clean. They had the heater on for us when we arrived and very easy checkin process. Will be staying there again.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Such a cute family owned hotel. Super friendly and clean.
- timothy (10/5): - We had the best stay at Piazza’s Pine Cone Inn. Two words to describe would be Kitschy and Kind. Also clean and quiet. Can’t wait to visit again.
- Masaru (10/5): Wonderful stay at the best location in the town. - It was a wonderful stay and they are super friendly. Market and brewery restaurant is walk distance so the location is perfect. You can enjoy pool, BBQ, and beautiful star watching at the deck at the 2nd floor.
- Susan (10/5): - Staff and owner were extremely friendly and helpful. This is a motel established in 1956. It retains it original charm and is clean and and updated just enough.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great room close to everything in town. The friendliest staff I’ve seen in a long time. Excellent stay!!
- Raymond (10/5): - My family stayed for a couple of days. It couldnt have been better. The flowers were the icing on the cake! We will definitely be staying there again. Soon!
- Kok (10/5): Staying in Kernville? Look no further! - Well, this turned out to be one of the BEST hotel experience ever! Not only was this charming and well kept property centrally located within walking distance to everything in town, but the owner Roberta also takes hosting to the next level! ...texting beforehand to let us know the room was ready, and then greeting as we arrived. Her staff and her were incredibly friendly, courteous and helpful with all of our queries and needs! We've stayed at 5-star properties that would benefit from a lesson in hosting from Roberta & Co! Can't wait to come back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Pine Cone Inn is a blend of 1950's charm and Western motel that your parents (people like me) have memories of on family trips. The beds are super comfortable! I will be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Piazza's Pine Cone Inn is so cute. The rooms have been restored to a vintage look that is really cool. The location lets you walk to the river, stores and restaurants. We would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quaint, well kept property with a large room, king size bed and they allowed our dog. Close to dining and an excellent craft brewery. Very clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice and quiet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Host was amazing, she called me the day of check in to inform me of the process. then followed up with a text with the same info to make sure i had what I needed. The rooms were very clean and well taken care of. We will stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I have seen this location many times before and decided to try it out. My only regret is not staying here sooner. Will definitely stay here more often during the cold season.
- Jeannie (10/5): Great stay! - The hotel is adorable. The staff is hospitable. The room was clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet little mountain town - It was a lovely mountain trip with friendly staff. The only issues we had were that there was almost zero soundproofing and the shower. We were able to hear a flagpole clanging throughout most of the evening as well as any traffic passing by and the hot water did not seem to last for very long. No clue what people were able to hear from our room. But it was within walking distance to the river and several delicious food spots.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great little place to stay in Kernville Great rooms sttaff
- Emily (10/5): - Not fancy, but great location, friendly staff. Would stay there again if I go back to Kernville.
- GeriUrquhart (8/5): - The bed was comfortable and the rooms clean. The pool looked inviting but the weather was not conducive to swimming. The staff were friendly and helpful. We found it difficult to keep the room warm, the door was loose and didn’t close tightly so we put our suitcases against it to hold it tight. My husband fixed the door knob of the bathroom as it was almost off. I would have liked a stopper in the bathroom sink. Perhaps a regular check of the rooms would help to find any problems and make repairs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice and clean , literally walking distance to everything. Loved it
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is an older "motel" type business. A little behind in the times but very clean! I can't tell you the last time I was walked to my room to walk through the amenities. We discovered together that the TV remote wasn't working so I was put into another room immediately! Less than a block from Kern River Brewing and great food/beer! I would def stay here again!
- howard (10/5): Clean & Quaint - Would def stay here again!! There is not a lot to choose from in Kernville, this place only has 14 very quaint rooms. Our room was Very spacious and very clean!!They accommodated us with an early check in on a Friday morning after being sold out the night before.
- Avram (10/5): Great stay great value! - I really enjoyed the Pine Cone Inn. We were only there for one night, but the place was clean and cozy, there was a fridge and microwave, and the WiFi worked well enough to stream shows on my Firestick, which I guess is not too common up that way. My only complaints were that it's hard to reach the front desk by phone and the shower water temperature can change suddenly when flushing the toilet or using the sink or when a neighbor is using their plumbing, but I think that's to be expected in rural areas.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful, quaint, well maintained relic of an American Motel. Very friendly staff. Very clean and cosy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and the rooms were so cousy. We only stayed one night but i would have liked to stay longer, recomend it to anyone. :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and the staff was great great location, very comfort rooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the location. Though not on the river it was centrally located to activities and restaurants. Loved that it was small and quiet. Our room was a good size. Felt unique—a “back in time” feel with updated amenities. If we return to Kernville we would choose to stay here again.
- Shannon (10/5): - The staff here are amazing! The location and the Landscaping are absolutely perfect. Beautiful pool, really nice room, comfortable beds. We will always stay at this hotel when we come out to visit.
- Jasmine (10/5): - Piazza's Pine Cone Inn has a certain charm to it that I just love, not to mention the staff is as friendly as can be.
- eric (10/5): - Had a wonderful time staying at Piazza's Pine Cone Inn this past weekend. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Happy Hour and breakfast were also great! Highly recommend!
- Joann (10/5): - We had a wonderful time and felt warmly welcomed by the wonderful staff
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Security was poor. There were no deadbolts on the doors. The maid forgot to lock the door when they cleaned our room. When I notified the front desk, they acted like it was no big deal and blamed the maid.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great rooms wit wonderful knotty pine paneling. Very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Very friendly cat in the lobby. Tuesday eve Ukulele concerts are a special treat.
- Monique (10/5): - The property and rooms were very clean and staff was courteous and helpful. Snack and water available in the lobby 24 hours a day was a plus too.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Our experience was good at this hotel. The only thing that was a bit odd was the loud sound the pipes made when the shower was running. Also, the swamp cooler was loud and made the room a little stuffy, and had no auto shut off, so getting it of bed to turn it off was a little annoying. Other then that, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and tidy. We would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The facilities were clean, but, at check in, they gave us our key to someone else's room. Luckily, those people were not in there room. And during our morning shower the water would run extremely cold or hot as another room would flush their toilet or turn the hot water on. We liked the cabin mountain ambiance to our room
- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent, comfortable lodging for one night - Could use some updating to be a better value for the price, but probably pretty par for the area--seems like most of the accommodations in the area are somewhat "rustic." The bed ended up being more comfortable than it looked. The room was clean and we had no issues with the service. Really appreciated the refrigerator and microwave. In-room coffee would have been nice so you can have coffee before showering and dressing. All in all, was a comfortable, quiet stay.
- Paul (10/5): Weekend trip. - Great place to stay! Walking distance, less than 100 yards, from restaurants and the local brewery! Very friendly and welcoming staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
- Michael (10/5): - Cozy, quiet, romantic venue. Walk to town center. Decor and atmosphere very appropriate for the area
- Wyatt (10/5): In town and hang around - Great location in town. Older building but clean and comfy. I would return.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Love this hotel. Its private and quiet. Clean and comfy.
- Disne (10/5): - The room was large and just great. Rustic and quaint. Loved it!
- Diana (10/5): - Has a comfy homey feel to it. The office cat "Albie" is extremely lovable! Kylie was awesome! Good coffee and the breakfast sandwiches were a great treat😋. Then only thing I would add is an ice maker, although there could've been one and I just didn't see it.
- Alexander (10/5): - Friendly staff, great location in Kernville.
- Andres (8/5): - just tell guests to respect others guests. No noises after 10:00PM
- Brenda (10/5): - If we ever have the need to stay in Kernville again we would happily stay at Pine Cone Inn! Kim was extremely friendly and helpful! She gave better customer service then expensive fancy hotels we have stayed at. Pine Cone Inn was comfy clean and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome! It was very reasonably priced!
- Juhee (10/5): - Super friendly and accommodating staff! Great location for whether you want to be near town or near the river. Had a wonderful time.
