Guest Reviews
- Marian (9/5): - Sehr gutes Hotel. Leckeres Essen und Frühstück. Freundliches Personal.
- Rickie (10/5): - It was our second time ,very good for getting to norwich good food9
- James (10/5): Our favourite place to stay- we’ll be back again (and again) - Me and my wife have stayed at Sugarbeat a number of times now and we’re never disappointed- the room is always spotless, the staff are lovely and the food is exceptional. There is nothing that could be improved!
- Vicky (10/5): -
- Duncan (9/5): -
- Malgorzata (9/5): - Great place, very welcoming staff. FABULOUS BREAKFAST 👌 The noise outside the room, but for one night stay it wasn't too bad. The place is lovely.
- Jamie71 (10/5): -
- Paul (8/5): Great overall with only one minor oversight - Staff were very helpful and excellent, the food in the restaurant was very nice and the breakfast was quite possibly the best English breakfast we have ever had. One small minor thing was the toilet in the room had limescale build up leaving it looking not to the high standard everything else was. Especially in the bowl something that you shouldn’t expect. Maybe an oversight I am sure because everything else was superb and a good night’s sleep.
- Fiona (9/5): -
- Chris (10/5): Recommend, will return - Excellent food lovely rooms , plenty of parking and great staff . Will stay again Nothing
- Janice (10/5): Very comfortable - Friendly clean and good value Liked it all
- Chirrelle (10/5): -
- Kimberley (8/5): - Location and Staff The bedroom in the sense thar the Kitchen extract was very noisy
- Jacqueline (6/5): - Very clean and well kept Rooms were very hot and if you opened windows you could hear traffic on main road.
- Susan (8/5): I like the place & people. - Sugarbeat Eating House is conveniently close to my destination. It is clean & a decent place to stay overnight. The cost is acceptable. The staff are welcoming & the food is good. The only downside is that from any time after 4.30am the main road immediately outside becomes increasingly noisy with freight traffic. By 6am, for me, only fitful sleep is thereafter possible.
- Alison (10/5): Would definitely stay again! - Staff were so friendly and helpful and food was Lovely.
- anthony (9/5): Very good choice. Pleased we chose it. Had evening meal. Well presented and exceptionally good. - Very good location. Comfortable room.
- Kevin (10/5): - Me and my wife stayed over for one night and were very happy with everything, lovely polite staff 😊 lovely room with very good air conditioning and a really good breakfast, plus we had dinner the evening before that was very good 👍 Big car park too.We will definitely stay there again when visiting Norwich. If you are extremely fussy I would say it's on a busy main road and you can here some traffic at times. It didn't bother us at all. We had a lovely stay.
- Jo (6/5): -
- Clydesdale (7/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): Good food, comfortable room and bed. Great base for Norwich city visit. Breakfast was delicious - Everything! Stayed in Manilow twin room with my daughter and we had a lovely stay. Nothing!
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Jeanette (8/5): Great stay 😃 - Welcoming on arrival even though they were very busy, showed us to our room and explained the safety aspect of the low roof when in and of room which was fine.
Bedroom was clean and good size room ( we had the Deluxe twin room) which had tea/coffee facilities and fresh milk in fridge with a bootle water.
There hanging facilities for coat etc but did have option of and coat hanger for a blouse/shirt but as we there only there one night it really matter.
Small TV was low so had to if laying in bed. Bathroom was clean with toiletries if needed
Plenty of nice white towels, Nice shower but when opening the shower door it knock the roof when was marking the paint work which is a shame as mean a touch up of paint.
Unfortunately our room had the extraction fan from the kitchen which we was told about when we wa shown to our room but did go of when they finished in restaurant, but could be a little annoying if you wanted have a early night.
Beds were comfortable with nice bedding and hard good night sleep.
We booked a table for dinner that night with friend and family good choice of menu and tasty.
Breakfast menu was good, we had full English which hot on arrival, good choice fruit juice.
Whilst having there was a car meet in car parking it didn’t concern us but if you needed get out of car park any earlier you had ask the car to move as there where few doubled parked.
Overall great stay and will book again. There hanging facilities for coat etc but did have option of and coat hanger for a blouse/shirt but as we there only there one night it really matter.
- Norman (5/5): Ok stay but nothing special. - Good location ideal for my stay. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. One big negative is when I came to leave on a Sunday morning my car was completely blocked in with dozens of cars in car park. All spots and drive ways was blocked caused by some car meeting of some sort. Very nice English breakfast. Lot of road noise plus floor boards creaked and could hear when anybody moved in corridor. In pub toilet no facilities to dry hands.
- Andrew (10/5): Comfy bed, large car park & lovely breakfast served by attentive staff. - Located on a route near to Norwich, so very convenient. Nothing it was great.
- Elisabeth (10/5): Would return any time - Large bedroom and bathroom. Spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Nothing
- Kevin (9/5): -
- Pauline (10/5): Convenient, comfortable, excellent food and staff. - Convenient for Norwich. Staff friendly and helpful. Room comfortable and clean. Food excellent for breakfast and evening meal. Child friendly. We liked it all.
- Mark (8/5): Excellent stay with lovely staff and excellent food. - Breakfast was excellent location was excellent just a little noise from busy road. Room was really warm at night but to noisy with window open
- Guest (5/5): -
- Deborah (7/5): -
- peter (9/5): very comfortable indeed - everything ,from the lovely paving leading up to a welcoming porch,on entering had a smiley warm welcome, room was very nice ,amazing breakfast. not much, could do with soft close toilet seat and shower needs a descale.
- Emma (10/5): Excellent stay - Staff were lovely. Had a nice relaxed atmosphere but nothing was too much trouble. Room was clean, bathroom was excellent. Fresh milk, cold water and biscuits were a nice touch. Breakfast was excellent. No negatives
- Jason (9/5): -
- Chapman (7/5): Great hotel with some minor irritations. - It was in a great location and well appointed, the staff were excellent and did all they could to make my stay comfortable.
The breakfast made up for me the night previous to keep in the fridge was tasty and generous. There was a little too much light pollution for me.
The walls could have been sound insulated a little better as I could hear conversations next door and “neighbours” walking around.
I was mindful to keep my TV volume low due to this.
Breakfast isn’t served until 9:00 but these are nit picking considering everything else.
- Frances (10/5): I had a lovely night in Swainsthorpe - looking forward to my next visit. - Friendly staff, comfortable clean room, lovely food Nothing
- Kathryn (8/5): We had a very enjoyable stay. Will definitely stay again - The breakfast was very good , the staff were efficient & friendly. The beds are comfortable. The meals in the restaurant are very good Traffic noise
- Kirby (8/5): - Dinner was very nice. The fish of the day was fresh and beautifully cooked and presented. Breakfast was good too. It's a shame that the property is located next to the very busy A140 Ipswich Road. Traffic noise went on quite late and started early in the morning.
- Krystle (10/5): -
- Annette (8/5): - Fresh milk in fridge. Good breakfast
- David (8/5): Enjoyable stay - Good eating establishment with rooms. Food was good and staff friendly. On a busy main road and a little noisy if you’re not used to a lot of traffic noise.
- Hicks (10/5): -
- Peter (8/5): -
- Adrian Hubbard (10/5): Great hotel. Large spacious rooms - Lovely clean spacious modern room Nothing, if I was being picky, Road noise
- Luke (9/5): Great place to stay - Comfortable and cosy room with friendly staff and a tasty breakfast. A great place to stay for a night near Norwich.
- Norton (9/5): Wonderful place, lovely food with the staff always checking in to see if all was ok. - The food was fantastic and the room was cosy and warm. No clothes hangers in our room
- Joanne (9/5): -
- Christina (10/5): Love this place - Brilliant breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Great service for evening meal.
- valerie (10/5): Not very restful - Clean and in a good area The room we had was the manilow room the ceiling was sloped I banged my head a few times there were no warning signs which there should have been. It was painted all white and was not noticeable. The room was above the kitchen she said we would have noise from the fan till 9 we weren’t bothered we would be eating. The fan went off as she said but was replaced by another buzzing which we could only think was the fridge that went on all night then the fan came back on at 6 am we were not in formed so much for a lie in as breakfast wasn’t till 9 am.
- Vicky (9/5): -
- Lewis (10/5): Excellent - Breakfast tasted great, and was good value for money with the stay. No points for improvement
- Denise (9/5): Great, would thoroughly recommend - Whole Team are always very friendly and very helpful. Food always good value, plentiful and fresh. Stevie the owner always remebers you and prepared to go the extra mile.
- Helen (8/5): -
- Jordan (10/5): -
- Jenny (9/5): -
- Margaret (9/5): All good - Breakfast No chair in room
- jayne (6/5): OK - Good size room , free parking and very friendly staff . noisy road, toiletries , biscuits not replenished had to ask for milk , toilet roll , water . limited breakfast menu expected a continental option also if one item was chosen from the menu that is all you got. no choice of bread i.e brown or white
Had 3 evening meals which were OK , no vegetables on main meals had to be ordered as a extra side dish , service charge says is at the customers discretion but on one occasion we were prompted quite rudely to answer the question on the credit card machine i.e how much tip we were giving
- Tim (7/5): Very good -
- Moira (10/5): - Friendly staff, clean, breakfast included in the stay was wonderful. Evening meal was good Nothing
- Tom (9/5): -
- wendy (8/5): -
- Mike Thornewill (4/5): Extremely good in most respects - but disappointing in one regard. - The staff were notably helpful and the food was just great. Room good, beds fine, and also very clean. I was disappointed to learn that breakfast is not provided until 0900. This was quite unexpected for a B+B during a working week - when most people need to be on their way. This should be made clearer. Because of this, I asked for our two breakfasts to be deducted from the bill. I was informed that it was not possible because breakfast was included in the price. (Staff did organise 2 sausage sandwiches as a one off for 0830 to eat on the hoof.) However when it came to paying the bill. I was - separately - charged for 2 breakfasts at £10.00 each. I explained that was rather unfair since I had asked for the price of our breakfasts to be deducted from my bill. I was told: "Sorry this is the we have to account for our costs." I did pay - because it was not fair to take it out on the staff. But it left a a bad taste in my mouth. I could never have done that to anyone myself. Disappointing.
- James (10/5): 10/10 yet again, we’ll be returning soon! - We’ve stayed at Sugarbeat a number of times now- we keep retuning as we never have any negatives, only positives! The staff are lovely, the room is always immaculate and the food is exceptional There’s nothing that could be improved
- Kate (10/5): -
- Angie (5/5): Disappointed as could not relax in room between 8am and 9pm due to excessive noise from kitchen. - Breakfast excellent. Staff friendly & helpful. Sold as garden views ,we looked over staff rear car park entrance and a storage shed often left open with kitchen with large noisy kitchen extraction pipes attached to wall directly underneath our window . Also a lot of room had very restricted ceiling height meaning a lot of room could not be used . Could not sit up in bed to watch tv and as tv was positioned very low on sloped wall at end of bed it could not be viewed from bed and only one chair in corner next to tv with no room for head height to use it. No point asking for change of room as fully booked and not helpful when I left new socks , suggested I call in to collect (live 190 miles away) when asked if they could post requested £5 so gifted to cleaner. Hardly a heavy bulky item to pop in an envelope!
- Roydon (8/5): Great welcome and service. Value for money - Friendly welcome on arrival and great service from all the staff. Breakfast was good. Nice hot shower. Huge double bed. Price point was about right Cold room on arrival. Turned on valves but no heat in bathroom during stay, but room warmed up nicely. Bar area could do with paint refresh with modern colours.
- Janet (8/5): - Liked the friendly people
- Christine (10/5): A perfect stay close to Norwich - Location great for me. Room large, warm and clean. Very airy and bathroom large with nice toiletries. Staff very friendly and organised. Let me check in early. Large car park. Nothing
- Brian (8/5): Staff and food great. Room fine except for extractor noise but didn't keep us awake. - Dinner, breakfast, staff. Room was a bit noisy until 11.45pm with aircon or extractor noise.
- Surinder (8/5): - Lovely friendly staff. Clean, comfortable accommodation. The breakfast was delicious, best I've had in ages. Some early morning noise possibly from kitchen extractor fans.
- valerie (8/5): Lovely stay bed comfy and breakfast 10+ - Plenty of parking easy check in room /bed comfy and breakfast 10+,would highly recommend. Nothing
- Peter (7/5): Good room for shorter people breakfast was slightly disappointing - The location was very good for our needs
The bedding and towels were good quality best we have had in a long while
Staff were excellent
Separate entrance was great as were out at a function and arrived back late The room we were in had sloped sides meaning I hit my head several times Im 6 ft 3 but my wife is a lot shorter and she also hit her head a couple of times . The shower had a rainfall head which I was unable to get to temperature. Quite noisy in the room over night. Breakfast was not as good as I expected eggs Benedict were overcooked for my wife
- Richard (10/5): Best hotel for the money in the area - Location. Food. Price. Noise from kitchen extract fan outside window
- John (10/5): Thank you Sugarbeat team for a memorable stay - Charming, clean and comfortable
Food was very good
Nice people Nothing
- claire (10/5): Fully recommend this stay - Beautiful big room with ample facilities,

Lots of parking, comfortable room, with good sound proofing due to location next to major road. Air con unit that worked very well. The affordable food was excellent with a varied menu suitable for all taste buds. The staff were very accommodating and couldn’t do enough for you. Nothing.

- Gordon (8/5): - The rooms are comfortable, staff are great and the breakfast options are excellent. There wasn't anywhere to hang clothes, the only options were coat hooks or drawers. Not the end of the world but it would have been a good addition to have.
- Megan (8/5): -
- Dominic (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): Great hospitality and good value - Room was very comfortable and good value for money, food was excellent and the staff very helpful. It was convenient and well positioned clean and modern rooms

- howard (10/5): If your looking for a few days or more don't stay anywhere but the Sugarbeat Eating house, - The breakfast and all of the food was just fantastic. The portions were big,and the quality of the ingredients were excellent, sometimes there is a lot, but it is rubbish, but not here, just amazing. I would say if your travelling this way don't stay anywhere else JUST PARK UP, AND STAY HERE, it's a real treat. Not one thing
- Gill (10/5): A thoroughly good break in great accommodation with a comfortable restaurant and bar. - We were very impressed with everything at this accommodation. Staff were very welcoming and nothing was too lunch trouble. Breakfast was excellent, a very wide choice. Our room, Jackson, was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Thoroughly recommend. Can’t think of anything.
- Christine (10/5): - Staff was lovely. Very pleasant stay. Food was delicious.
- Roger (9/5): Well worth staying here if you’re in the area. - We only stayed for 1 night but will go again. Plenty of parking space. Next to a busy road but you can’t hear this inside unless you open a window. The room was comfortable and clean, plenty of towels and hot water. We had one of the rooms with the extra large bed, this was very comfortable. This room had tea and coffee making facilities (decaf coffee available). Our room included a small fridge with a bottle of cold water which was much appreciated and a small container of proper milk. The room was lovely and warm as was the bathroom. Air conditioning was provided should you need it. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very good and can get busy at times. The breakfast was included in the price and was really plentiful and of a really good quality and choice. Be aware Breakfast starts at 9.00 but if you need to leave earlier I understand they may provide cereal in your room for the morning. Outside is a grassed area so if you want to sit outside to eat or drink you can. We had no regrets in staying here, would loved to have tried having an evening meal. Nothing to dislike really, someone did have their television on quite loud but this didn’t last long and was not on late.
- Jemma (10/5): Excellent value for money & Staff were super helpful! - Very welcoming and clean Nothing
- Viv (7/5): - Nice room & bathroom.
Food excellent A little bit of road noise
A lot of noise from the room next door & upstairs.
I appreciate the accommodation has been nicely updated but the walls are a bit thin.
- Harry (10/5): Our second stay was of the same high standard as our first stay. - Excellent breakfast and Sunday carvery lunch. Well cooked and well presented by friendly staff.
- Mike (9/5): Great country location and helpful staff - Comfortable airy room with a good quality breakfast Lugging heavy bags up stairs is never a winner - however that is common for many such hotels
- Deborah (10/5): Great pub with rooms. Good menu for an evening meal and local ales. - We arrived in the rain to a very warm welcome. The staff were super and really looked after us. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Just south of Norwich its a good spot for a night on the Rebellion Way. Nothing
