- Melanie (9/5): - Staff were very welcoming. Great facilites in the room. The bed was a bit uncomfortable.
- amanda (9/5): - Lovely building and grounds with plenty of parking. Our room was spacious, clean and well equipped with comfortable beds, fluffy towels, toilettries and a coffee machine with complimentary biscuits included. The shower was a nice hot power shower. A good variety of options available for breakfast, I had the eggs florentine which was really tasty. All the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. No lift to the first floor but unavoidable due to the age/listed nature of the building. Nothing else to fault really.
- Nikki (9/5): - Great location and free parking Na
- Louise (8/5): -
- Eglė (9/5): - Breakfast was very delicious Student been a bit loud that night when we stayed 😀
- Gill (9/5): A small, botique hotel. Great location, good food. - Location, very near Botanical Gardens.
Staff wer3 very polite and extremely attentive, particularly regarding my food allergies. I have never experienced such care in another hotel. It wasn’t obvious from marketing that it was in the middle of a University accommodation campus.
Our room was above the kitchen extractor fans which were noisy when the window was open.
- Mark (9/5): Surprisingly small room compared to the bathroom - Room was small
- Anne (8/5): Comfortable night’s stay in this very pleasant hotel. - Good size room and bathroom. Good breakfast. Very friendly staff. Good value for money.
- David (9/5): -
- Melanie (7/5): - Good location Room small and very hot, quite noisy as above the bar area and a 90th birthday in progress.
Breakfast was poor standard today
- Martin (9/5): Best Sheffield hotel - Big bathroom and shower. Excellent breakfast. Easy parking. Friendly staff.
- Selina (9/5): -
- Roger (8/5): Very comfortable & good value - Very clean and in a quiet area away from main roads. Staff were polite , helpful & Breakfast was excellent. One minor thing was reception staff wearing jewellery in /around mouth. Made it difficult to understand what they were saying.
- Steve175 (9/5): One of my favourite city hotels - Locality, excellent food, very pleasant buildings, staff. Room was very small.
- Dr. Sadie (8/5): Value for money hotel - Location and ease of access to local amenities
Staff were friendly
Breakfast options were good
Room clean
Access to complimentary teas/coffee/snacks The room was a bit on the small side
The bed wasn't the most uncomfortable
- Elaine (10/5): Clean rooms, with good facilities - Good sized rooms
Lived the Tunnocks tea cakes and caramel wafers with the coffee machines Parking can be a challenge
- simon (3/5): Underwhelming - Room was clean and dry but small Was surprised at the quality of the room for the price charged. Was £225 a night, quality was more £80 a night. Terrible value.
- William (10/5): Cannot fault this hotel - Breakfast offered an excellent continental breakfast and a really good choice of cooked breakfasts. Would not hesitate to recommend this place to stop
- Trevor (10/5): Halifax Hall - Very modern interior, very clean, friendly staff and food was first class. We had a lovely night.

- Malcolm (8/5): Superb and good value - Always a really good stay. Perfect location for us and really good value for money. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Breakfasts are excellent and the tea coffee and biscuits in room are very welcome! We will continue to stay here every time we are in Sheffield. Nothing
- M Usama (10/5): -
- Dawn (7/5): It was suitable for a short stay. - The bedroom was immaculate and the bed was very comfortable. We loved the fresh milk and biscuits on each corridor. Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy our breakfast. The quality of the food seemed cheap.
- Rachel (8/5): A good stay in a lovely environment. - The location is excellent. The breakfast is very good with a good selection of cooked options. Staff were always helpful and courteous. The view from our room was not good as it overlooked the air conditioning units and was noisy when we opened the window.
- David (9/5): -
- clare (9/5): -
- Dawn (9/5): - Well positioned and in lovely grounds .
- Emma (8/5): -
- Tracey (7/5): Review April 2026 - Staff were friendly and helpful. Good choices for breakfast. Very comfortable bed and pillows!
Managed to secure a parking space, although there didnt seem to be many! The hotel is surrounded by what looked like university accommodation so there was a lot of loud voices/shouting until fairly late. We also had a room that backed on to what must be a service entrance as trolleys and bins were being wheeled back and forth in the mornings, which again was quite noisy. Neither are the fault of the hotel, but it does slightly spoil a stay.
Parts of our room needed attention, maintenance wise.i.e. the wall had rotted through in one place in the bathroom due to a shower leak, there was a lug missing from one of the taps and my partner had to free up the basin plug mechanism for it to work. Two of the main lobby ladies toilets were completely blocked during my visit.

- B (10/5): Halifax Hall is a great location to stay within easy reach of beautiful botanical gardens and Endcliffe park. - Lovely, beautiful surroundings.
Clean room.
Comfortable bed.
Staff helpful and supportive.
Wonderful breakfast. N/A
- Susan (7/5): -
- Ruth (8/5): Very convenient stay with a short drive to the children’s hospital and easy walk to the botanical gardens - Helpful staff
Changed our room to avoid stairs Different chefs approaches to the same GF meal
- Colin (9/5): Stayed only one night but would not hesitate to return, a lovely building and well-thought out servi - Excellent evening meal and breakfast - freshly-made granola, almost verging on flapjack in its sumptuousness.
Comfortable bedrooms and spacious bathrooms made the stay (only one night) very relaxed.
The thoughtful provision of the top-up stations on each floor, for extra tea, coffee, fresh milk, biscuits and Tunnock's teacakes and caramel bars, made the stay really special. A brilliant touch. There was a little student-related noise which meant closing the window on a warm late evening, but it really didn't last long and was not unexpected, given the location.
- Paul (10/5): V good & v good value too - Location, building
- tracey (10/5): -
- Stephen (7/5): -
- Chen Joseph (9/5): -
- Jackie (9/5): - Breakfast was great thanks .Staff were great . There were 10 of us there in 6 rooms fora family funeral . On enquiring for dinner I was told we could only be accommodate us at18.30 for dinner due to another dinner. TBH , I wasn’t that impressed but in the end , we and you kind of made it work. I do certainly think it could have been handled better .
- Shaun (8/5): -
- Margaret Ann (10/5): Excellent wee find Rural setting in a big city - Great location
Great breakfast
Room had everything I needed
Safe parking Nothing
- Joanne (10/5): - Rooms clean and well kept, lovely bathroom with great products. Coffee machine and snack stations a big plus. Restaurants for dinner and breakfast were excellent and can't recommend the staff highly enough! Nothing.
- Angela (8/5): -
- lisa (8/5): -
- Alison (10/5): Comfortable, excellent rooms and guest facilities - Lovely old building Small bar area
- Caroline (8/5): -
- Kennaugh (8/5): -
- Caroline (8/5): Very close to perfect - Comfy and clean. Loved the Tunnocks tea cakes and caramel bars Tucking the duvet under the mattress. As soon as you pull the duvet out, you have to remake the bed as the bottom sheet comes out with duvet and is all loose. No need to tuck the duvet in. Make the bed with tight bottom sheet and leave duvet loose!
- Adam (8/5): -
- david (9/5): - A good place to stay while we moved house. Nothing
- Tim Storey (9/5): Lovely stay, but some things could be improved. - Food is always great (dinners), services, amenities and cleanliness is spot on! Breakfast is usually nice, but not always consistent. One day you'll get perfect poached eggs on sourdough toast, and the next day overcooked, on regular brown bread with minimal beans. Pancakes were super thin and not as I remember them to be, handmade not packaged.
Bed wasn't that comfortable, but the suite was lovely and spacious.
Internet there is terrible, always kicking you out, poor signal and TV has no internet so not able to link up or stream/cast anything.
Staff are always amazing, kind and so helpful.
- John (9/5): -
- Guest (10/5): -
- Ruth (10/5): Very helpful staff, accommodating my husbands food allergies especially at breakfast time. - Attentive staff,
Great breakfasts
Coffee & biscuits help yourself refill station with Tunnocks caramel wafers. Evening meals were inconsistent depending on different chefs
- Karen (10/5): -
- SCJVMVDB (9/5): Fab as always - Friendly staff, clean room, fab breakfast Nothing.
- Ian (9/5): -
- Suzanne (9/5): Very comfortable with fabulous breakfast and friendly staff - Great breakfast options, comfortable rooms Quite small rooms
- Patricia (9/5): Lovely stay - Nice and quiet . Parking ok . Nice staff Maybe just a little dated
- Annioke (7/5): - I liked the bathroom .
Bigger than the bedroom lol Size of room was uncomfortably small
Bed too soft
- Guest (8/5): -
- nick (9/5): -
- Dr Cath Sherratt (10/5): A little gem! - Very comfortable. Located in pleasant gardens, and well positioned to access universities and hospital. Feels civilised - and I especially like their attention to little details, like providing fresh milk and Nespresso coffee.
Breakfast was excellent - cooked to order, with plenty of choice. I particularly liked the availability of soya milk and oat milk.
The staff are all brilliant, nothing is too much trouble!
I try to stay here every time I visit Sheffield. The only slight flaw is that there is no lift for accessing the upper floors - although with only 3 floors overall, it's hardly a major issue, and hasn't stopped me returning many times!
- Muhammad Adeel (10/5): - Excellent property and a very comfortable stay. Staff were very nice and helpful.
- Pippa (9/5): -
- Juliet (8/5): Comfortable and value for money stay just outside Sheffield city centr. - Good room options at a reasonable cost including a very good breakfast. They also provide a station of snacks and tea, coffee and fresh milk to take to your room which is a nice touch. Out of the city so need a car or taxi to get to but was convenient for seeing relatives in the area. Some aspects a bit outdated.
- Malcolm (8/5): A fleeting but comfortable visit. - Breakfast setting, personable staff and really nice selection of food with both buffet choices and/or a cooked dish from the menu. With the increasing use of technology, charging of mobiles etc, it would be good to see USB ports incorporated into the plug sockets, as dound in many other hotels now. Especially in a University setting. This makes life much simpler in the event of forgetting to bring a USB plug. My suite was on the first floor. It would have been useful to know that when I booked.
- Guzman (10/5): -
- gary (9/5): -
- Debbie Freeman (8/5): - lovely building breakfast location very clean I was allocated a room with a bathvia confirmation, which I really needed, but was given a shower which I couldn't use very dissatisfied and let down.
- brigita (8/5): -
- Robert (10/5): - This is our second time staying here. Quiet and everything we personally needed. Our tv did not work and I believe even speaking to the young lady on reception that it doesn't ever work in room 109. She said keep trying but reception is poor.
- Lynsey (6/5): -
- Sinnotts (9/5): - Good size room and bathroom.
Tea/coffee facilities were fantastic.
Fresh, clean and inviting decor.
- Clark (9/5): I have been staying here for work and it helps me switch off being away from the city centre. - Staff are always lovely. Hotel is very comfortable and food is wonderful. N/A
- Tina (10/5): Pleasant stay. - Hotel was spotlessly clean, the room was comfortable with crisp white bedding, TV and coffee making machine. Toiletries were provided in the bathroom and the snack station on each floor was an added bonus.
Breakfast was plentiful with a varied selection of continental and freshly cooked hot choices.
The staff were welcoming, polite and helpful.
Would recommend for a layover in Sheffield.
- Jude (7/5): A bit disappointed. - It is quiet and convenient. There was no food available for one of the evenings I was staying but was not informed on advance.
- Karen (8/5): -
- David (8/5): Lovely comfortable place for an overnight stay. - Nice location with on site parking
Clean and comfortable
Very helpful staff
En suite bath shower rooms nice
Breakfast good No aircon so rooms can get warm in hotter weather
No lifts, not a problem for me but could be for others.
- Paul (8/5): -
- Carol (9/5): - Topbups for drinks and biscuits freely available, fantastic shower, excellent breakfast Saw a rat outside in the grounds
- Mo (10/5): -
- Julie (9/5): Maybe a - Excellent location.
All very comfortable and staff were very good and helpful.
Only had breakfast but would like to try restaurant another time. Requested a table for breakfast for my family as extras. This done a day before and confirmed would be fine.
But the next morning when family arrived dining room did not know about it.
Felt bit awful because they had to rally round and put tables together. Was asked if had booked extras and who had booked with.
Also what hotel DOES NOT have a pot of mustard?????
- H8818EOjordanm (10/5): Fantastic experience, beautiful building and fantastic staff - Fantastic location, very peaceful. Super clean rooms and the staff are so accommodating. Special mention to Matthew the night manager, who served us on the bar and gave us a lovely tour of the hotel, will definitely return, thankyou everyone at Halifax hall.
