Guest Reviews
- Alice (6/5): Friendly - The BnB was basic - lady was friendly
Can’t comment on breakfast as I did not have any
- Arto (8/5): Good location - Very good location , easy ro reach from Wicklow golf course. Good parking facilities. Room was ok, only small noise from stairs. Breakfast was not possible this time (covid).
- Lena (2/5): - Unglaublich!!!

- Anthony (8/5): Dunbur lodge - Stay at dunbur lodge was pleasant and comfortable pleasant staff and quiet location my only complaint is i couldn't open the window otherwise i had a lovely stay with plenty of pleasant scenery and not far from brittas bay

- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very pleased. Will stay again.
- Monty (8/5): Good - Very good
- Tatiane (4/5): Cheap and nasty - The toilet worked but not much elsed....,
Cold shower,no irish breakfast, old bed.
Plug in heating did not work.
Cheap place but nasty.
- Lisa (6/5): Cute out of the way lodge - Stayed for one night. Good location for us to take a break. Bathroom had some toilet and shower issues. Nice continental breakfast in the morning.
- David (2/5): Uncontrolled children - Your staff allowed several children unaccompanied to run around the dining room during my dinner, making a wonderful meal much less enjoyable. Then more unaccompanied children ran my hallway for hours at night. My 4 calls to the front desk did little to chsnge this.
- michael (8/5): Great location great value - Fantastic location, friendly and cheerful, Comfortable beds, Functional and maybe even a little basic but extremely good value and such a great location that we had wanted to be out walking on the fantastic costal path into town for evening meal. I will definately return.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Just relatively cheap price.
- Moi (4/5): - Site Difficile à situer, accueil très léger, parking facile.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Enjoyed my stay. Functional facility. Location is good and room adequate.
- ROLAND (10/5): Très bon rapport qualité-prix. - Bed and b très bien tenu.
- Jacqui (2/5): To be avoided - Very shabby and basic. Very overpriced. Would not recommend. More like a hostel
Only light in the room was fluorescent ceiling light, switch over bed didn’t work had to use switch by the door.no bedside lamps. Perused bars of soap in the shower room. No mirror , musty, shabby , very basic . Would never come back
- Patrick (2/5): A hotel to be avoided - This is a place that pretends to be a hotel. But is nothing like one. It is shameful that we were charged 120 Euro and given a rubbish continental breakfast. It felt like we were joining an institution like Hotel California. But in this case we could escape the next morning. An embarrassment to the citizens of Wicklow.
- Ashley (2/5): Dirty, grungy hotel - This felt more like a backpackers than a B&B. The guy that let us in was friendly; however, the room was very disappointing and the place was generally disappointing. The beds were hard, the bedding stained and the bathroom grotty. The breakfast was super basic and the dishes didn't feel clean. We were happy to leave and look somewhere else the following night.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It has absolutely nothing going for it . Out side looks like it needs major uplift. So hard to get any one to answer the front door. Person who did answer, lacks ability to understand plain english. Has to contact someone to confirm booking. Rooms very mediocre. Not a place i would recommend.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Terrible - Stayed for one night. Had to pay up front and for obvious reasons. The place is very basic. It was cold. Had to wait 10 minutes before the door was answered. Bed was uncomfortable. Rooms are clean but it's a hostel not a B&B. There was no cooked breakfast and for the price I paid, I would have expected one. They advertised a continental breakfast. It was toast and some very sorry looking meats. I even had to ask for butter for my toast. Really disappointed and for what I received, it's massively overpriced. I would not recommend this to anyone.
- PAUL (2/5): FAULTY TOWERS - BECAREFUL EVEN WITH RESERVATION IF A BETTER OFFER COMES THEY WILL TAKE IT AND SEND YOU AWAY
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We had to wait for 15 minutes for someone to open the door after we called to say we were outside!!! They girl checking us in could not find my reservation and had to call the manager whom I had to speak to myself!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Neglected and potentially hazardous - Lone staff members. No sign of management. Dissatisfied customers. Poor "continental" breakfast only. Trailing wires in room. Dirty carpet on landing. Neglected garden.
Many one night only customers.Comfortable bed.
- Paddy (4/5): Place of last resort. - Only one staff member to do everything from reception, cleaning, etc.
When paying by card I was not offered the choice to pay in local currency, which I wanted to do as paying in the currency of your card is more expensive as the exchange rates are pretty poor. I had to show the staff how to use the payment machine to allow this. This is not good practice as guests need to be offered the choice.
Breakfast is a poor unhealthy continental only. Cold processed meat and cheese, sugary cereal etc. There is no cooked breakfast even offered. All carbs and fat. Not good if you have a long hiking, walking or touring day when what you really need is a protein based start to give you the sustenance you need.
Could get wifi in my room. Need to sit in the hallway.
Potentially nice gardens and water features but let go to weed and ruin. With a bit of upkeep this would be a great place to relax after a long day.
Overall very poorly maintained accommodation which with a bit of effort has the potential to be so much more. Shame the owner cannot see this. If this was maintained to the level it obviously had been in the past, with additional staff and full breakfast I would be happier to pay extra.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Never again - Very poor signage, almost as if guests weren't wanted. A soul-less house, paper thin walls, very basic breakfasts, shabby rooms, dubious sheets, remote from dinner spots, over priced. I used it as a base for a project, but left early as I couldn't face another dismal night.
- Batool (8/5): Nice Lodge - It was very nice and quaint.
- Jozef (10/5): - Washington allsome
- Arnis (10/5): - I needed get out Dublin for relax and peace, and I got. Thanks
- gerry (2/5): a forgetable experience - disaster.one girl left on her own to fun the guest house. she is brazilian with no english. room dirty when we arrived at 2pm. asked us to come back at 3pm. when we came back the room was still dirty and had to get her back to clean the bathroom and vacuum the carpet. no towels or loo rolls. after 3 hours we received the towels which were damp.breakfast is only continental and not good. we felt very sorry for the girl ,left on her own.she had to get a plumber in on one of the days as electrical units in the kitchen were not working.
- unsatified (4/5): Incorrectly additives no twin rooms - Putting me of booking on line had to pay for 2rooms when a twinwould have cost less bad info on net badly signed out side lodge no photos who wants to ditty. Carpets
- Ginny (8/5): Top pick - Very nice stay. The lodge is not Brand-new and does not pretend to be or charge like brand new. 1 person manages the whole place and does an excellent job of making it comfortable & welcoming. It's also along a pathway to 2 great lighthouses with wonderful views, and even better views and rock beach if you're willing to get off the beaten path. Best views so far - extraordinary rock & sea walk. Pick somewhere else if you want pampering and be willing to pay for it. I'm glad I wasn't dissuaded by the negative reviews I saw.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Cheapish and cheerful - It would be very easy to be unkind because we felt the young girl in charge was a little out of her depth. Her understanding of English was not great. There was a "worn" look about the place from the front door to the rooms. My room had a hole in the ceiling that was in the process of being repaired. The toilet seat was loose and the bathroom was a little untidy. On the plus side it was in a good area and parking was good.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not recommended - This is a very basic B&B, the sea view room I paid extra for was not available when I arrived. There was No discount offered. The Wifi was down, plus the shower head didn't fit the attachment. Breakfast was very poor, plain sliced pan bread, some sliced cheese & meats, juices and out of date looking fruit. Overall cleanliness was passable but could be improved on. I would not recommend this B&B.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Dernier recours - Difficile à trouver et ambiance tristounette...
- Verified traveler (4/5): - A house and garden was nice.
Location-good.
Breakfast was ok.
Room was very poor- bed mattress was all VET,
BED LINEN smelly of mold,
carpet- Dirty, REPAIR IS REQUIRED.
Price is to high
- Marie (4/5): Lighthouse and cliff walks, scenic view, peaceful - In an ideal scenic quiet location, nice garden, free parking, breakfast fine, self service. No signage. Booked 5 rooms, charged same price as double rooms as no single rooms available, asked to pay before leaving in bags or seeing rooms, confusion over bookings as landlady had to ring owner who's never there. Backpackers had to pay €10 for being early. More work to be done on this B/B, proper bathroom doors, front door lock problem, etc. Owner should employ an Irish landlady and staff who know local area, get local tourist leaflets. I rang owner when booking, to avoid confusion, he wasn't free and never rang back.
- Verified traveler (4/5): not such a great time - The hostel is IMPOSSIBLE to find, and about a MILE down the road from wehre the expeddia map shows it. if you can't find it, KEEP DRIVING!!
also, NOTHING IN THIS PLACE WORKS!! the TVs dont work, internet doesn't work, lights don't work. very disappointing.
the staff was completely unhelpful with anything, and unfriendly in such a way that I did not feel comfortable approaching them. they need to MAJORLY overhaul this place.
I stay in hostels ALOT, and this was by far the worst I have stayed in. you will have a place to put your head, but just expect very bare bones treatment.
- Kaylee (6/5): Hole in the bathroom floor - The shower leaked horribly and is likely the cause of the massive hole in the bathroom floor. The hole was covered with newspaper and then a bath mat, but since the bathroom was tiny, you had to tip-toe along the edges to get to the toilet and into the shower. It was ridiculous. We were also charged 10 Euro when our train arrived a couple hours before check-in and we wanted a place to keep our bags - the room was ready, but we had to pay extra to get into it. Then, when we asked to use a phone to call a cab in order to get back to the train station at checkout time, we were told there was no phone at the lodge --- NO PHONE?! How does a business not have a phone?! My husband had to hike down to town to get a cab to come up and get us with our bags. I would not recommend this place anyone.
- Verified traveler (2/5): dunbur lodge, wicklow - Very disappointing, wouldn't go back again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice location with a pretty view - Linen, pillows, towels all dirty. Bathroom extraction wouldn't turn off. Bathroom door wouldn't close. Shower and basin leaked. Blind over the window did nothing against the street light outside the window.
It's a new hotel, so with time it will improve.
- Maud (10/5): A chilled relaxed atmosphere - The owner was very friendly and encouraged us to make ourselves at home and enjoy the lovely gardens. He only took it on five weeks ago so is still working some things out. However myself , my boyfriend and two fellow visitors we befriended really enjoyed our stay and all agreed we would stay again :)
