• wallwill (10/5): Oasis in Cairo - This was one of our top hotel stays during our 6 week length tour of Egypt in Jan 2025, my 7th trip in the country. Maadi is a special niche place in Cairo and the hotel is both beautiful and well appointed. Food was excellent too. Very helpful staff throughout, from the men at the door, dealing with luggage and cars, to the reception. Will defiantly stay here again for it’s an oasis within Cairo!

• CHI-JEN (10/5): - The hotel locates in a very nice and posh neighborhood in Cairo, after experiencing all the hustles of the city, it’s a real relief for me and my friend to get to stay in the hotel and walk around in the area. The area is safe and with lots of nice cafes and restaurants. The hotel itself is very well designed and maintained, the staffs are very helpful as well.

A beautiful oasis of peacefulness in a bustling city. Only downside was the endless local instagrammers in the restaurant at night who were annoying and sometimes disruptive.

It is a lovely villa that has been converted into a boutique hotel. It also has a very good and popular restaurant. The staff were fantastic. I recommend this hotel if you are staying in Cairo. The area it is situated in is very good and there is a Metro connection about a 10min walk away.

• caroline (8/5): - So this is a charming house and the room I had was just lovely. However, there was a hiccup at check in. I was not shown around the property rather told about wifi and then told my room was upstairs. As this is an old villa, one would expect to be shown the different areas. Okay no big deal. I had to ask how to get to the small pool. When I got to the pool, I was told I could not use it. Apparently, the staff did not realize I was staying there but that is off putting. The hotel is pretty pricey. $216.00 a night so I do not want to be told I cannot use the pool. The manager tried her best to remedy the situation and I appreciate that. There is a mini bar in the room with the most ridiculous prices I have ever seen. $5.00 USD for a cookie that at best costs .25. $7.00 usd for a mini can of pringles. $13.00 for a small bag of nuts. As i was in the mood for something sweet I had a cookie from the fridge and then saw how extortionate the pricing was. To be fair, they offered to not have me pay but I insisted on paying as those are the rules. I just think in Cairo those prices are beyond ridiculous. They are more expensive than sat NYC at the 4 seasons hotel(remember this is Cairo). To put it in perspective. The cookie cost half the price of my dinner. That is really shameful and I hate that kind of greed from a mini bar. But charming hotel for sure.
• katemM6689ZM (10/5): Wonderful Stay - We had a beautiful stay at this hotel. I took a group of five people and everyone loved it. The rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The staff are very courteous and attentive. The restaurant was accommodating to our specific dietary requirements. Highly recommended. I cannot wait to go back!

• BarbSuz (10/5): Boutique hotel in Cairo - We stayed four nights at this lovely boutique hotel in the quiet Maardi district in Cairo. We had a very pleasant room on the top floor with a small sitting area and a balcony. The staff were very helpful and we enjoyed several meals in the Acacia Restaurant in the grounds of the hotel. Staying in a small family run hotel that dates back to the 1920s with all modern conveniences was a wonderful experience. It provides an atmosphere that you cannot get from large modern chain hotels where you could be anywhere in the world.
• 283maggiev (2/5): Not Luxurious - I had stayed once before and wasn’t thrilled, but I gave this hotel a second chance, as I really wanted it to be great. It’s not. They are selling a boutique luxury experience and it’s no where near this. Trust me, I’m a world traveler and love to find gems. It’s way over priced, with not even nice rooms. We paid $400 USD per night for an upgraded suite but they gave us a basic room. I’m all for paying this price when it’s worth it, but I would not even pay $200 for this experience - that’s how non luxurious it was. Check in took way too long. The toiletries are a really low grade generic brand. The bed is not comfortable. They put two single beds together to give us a king bed - I refused and then we relocated to a very small room with a queen bed. You must walk up several flights of stairs to your room. The staff is definitely not trained professionally, looking at every chance for tips. The food was 4 out of 10 and also very expensive. Go stay at the four seasons on the Nile if you want a luxury experience in Cairo. Even better, go to Mena House in Giza. For what they charge here, you are NOT going to get a luxury experience. Really not worth the hype. I tried (2x)……

• Jorg (10/5): - We enjoyed this place tremendously, and it was very lovely experience. A small hotel (32 rooms) in a quiet garden setting and with a bread & breakfast feel. The room was spacious and very clean, the personnel extremely friendly and helpful. The food (breakfast, lunch and dinner available) was excellent. Although not located close to city center, El Maadi train station was less than a 10 minutes walk away with trains running every few minutes to get you to city center in about 20 minutes. We do highly recommend this place away from the hustle and bustle, but still close enough to all place in Cairo you want to explore.

A really homely boutique hotel with great swimming pools, friendly staff and excellent room amenities. A great place to relax after a busy multi stop trip across the length of Eygpt. My only regret is we should have stayed longer to make the most of this relaxing hotel.

Located in the Maa'di green area on the right bank, this small boutique hotel lives up to all expectations (and beyond). A bit oldfashioned, yet with all modern amenities, very friendly personalised service, exceptional restaurant and a garden with pool - what more could you want to unwind from a crazy city?

It’s only a short walk from the Nile and its streets are full of good restaurants and shops. It’s very safe to walk the streets at anytime. It offers a have away from the hustle and frantic pace of downtown Cairo. The breakfast is excellent, it’s worth including it in the booking. The main restaurant offers local delicious cuisine in a relaxed dining environment. The rooms are beautifully furnished and transport you to bygone elegance. The pool is a welcome sight after a long stroll in the heat of the Cairo sun.

• tebdc (6/5): Warning about check-in and lost reservations - Warning - confirm DIRECTLY with hotel that they have your reservation if booking through Booking.com, hotels.com, etc. When we arrived after an overnight flight, the hotel had no record of most of our reservations - they appeared to be working off a hand-written list- and only were able to provide 2 rooms (we had 4 booked on different reservations). The process took hours - and on our return (late arrival) check-in was inept despite having both called and written emails that we would be late. We heard later they lost their general manager so hoping this is a temporary problem. On the plus side, the rooms are charming and the breakfast was outstanding.

In quiet leafy area, feels off the beaten track. Drivers find it confusing to get to -- but once there, it's a haven of green and quiet. In rooms over the pool, the music plays most of the day and early evening. Request the annexe if jet lagged.

It’s in a residential area so you need taxis to get anywhere but they are cheap. Decor is a little tired and taxi drivers get lost, particularly because the nearby police station can close the road.

• N4886ZValexanderz (6/5): Charming old estate in run-down neighbourhood with untrained staff that treats women as non-existant - too expensive - Luxurious by Egyptian standards, but at best 3 stars by Western standards. Unheated and very small pool. All rooms surrounded by outdoor patio with restaurant service from 6 am until midnight (including loud music until 2330). Breakfast extremely expensive for services provided (we had stomach issues following egg consumption). All rooms in main building very noisy due to constant aircon and restaurant fans (no insulation). Beds uncomfortable with old mattresses. Some furniture smelly, probably due to chemical treatment against bugs. Bathrooms very small and amenities sub-standard, non-brand Egyptian type. Wifi terribly slow, like in a youth hostel. However, main building exceptionally clean and housekeeping staff very attentive. But, in general only male staff, all of them ignorant towards female guests (like usually in all of Egypt). Neighbourhood somewhat scary at night and very dirty with unpaved road in front of hotel. Scary police station 100 m to the right of the entrance with large groups of shady types hanging around. Hotel situated right in the inbound flight corridor for Cairo International Airport. Outdoor restaurant not hygienic due to wild cats roaming around freely, occupying textile chairs and offensively begging for food. In sum: we have no idea how this expensive place could get such good reviews...
• Naomi (10/5): - The hotel is incredible. It has been beautifully renovated to a very high standard. The room has all possible amenities, including a washing machine! The breakfast was delicious, as was the supper dining options.
• Gary (2/5): - Just because they say it is a boutique hotel does not make it so. The pool is small with tables up so close to the edge it is not really usable. We had a nice room, but the 2 couples we were traveling with and who made their reservations at the same time we did, were told that they did not receive them from Expedia, thus there were no rooms available. It was a mess. The front desk men were truly rude to our friends. She happens to be a well known journalist, which I proceeded to tell the manager. He all of a sudden found 2 rooms for the two nights we stays. I have stayed a a lot of hotels and this is one I would never go back to or recommend to anyone. There are better places to stay by far.

The pool was nice but there were only dining tables and chairs in any outdoor part of the property including around the poo...so no place to real outdoors and room was too closed in for other than sleeping.

• Climber665150 (2/5): Racist staff - I was there for 2 weeks. I am a black African man, I was with my black African female and white female colleague. The treatment me and my black female colleague was terrible. During breakfast, the staff in the cafeteria gave us mean glimpse, and did not serve us well. There is a waiter called Osman who was very mean. The hotel is nice but the staff are not nice to black people, our white colleague was treated well most of the time. For that reason, one star from me.

• jennifer (8/5): A imperfect gem - A lovely gem in the peaceful green Maady area. Unfortunately some renovation works were ongoing and there was a lot of dust. The service was a little hit and miss, but it did not take away from the beauty of the place. The lack of internet was somewhat frustrating as I was working but it gave me the opportunity to take some me time and go for a walk.

Its location in Maadi is a little further away from the downtown area and you'll need a car/ride to get around most places but there is a busy shopping area about 5 min drive away. I would highly recommend this Hotel if you are looking for peace and quite away from the busy downtown area.

• Verified traveler (6/5): - the Villa is very unique and transports one directly into an old french movie. The room with a separate light sitting area and a balcony was marvelous and the bed comfortable. The location in Maadi is also excellent. It is close to the centre but in a great resdiential area with lots of villas and green. The downside of the hotel is only the staff really. The doorman is alread grumpy but the old men at the reception top him. Already grumpy at the checkin they turned into guard dogs when I wanted to have a drink with my friend on the balcony after the bar closed. Not allowed in the room! I paid for a double room but only one person allowed! So yes it is a nice villa but unless you love parental guidance dont go. Tres dommage.

• joyce (8/5): Quiet leafy neighbourhood - Very quiet neighbourhood. I enjoyed the peace and garden. Spent morning by poolside. Had lunch in restaurant was good. Walk to road 9 for breakfast and dinner. Service could be friendlier. I had done all my sightseeing staying in the city. Hence moved to this hotel otherwise will be a distance from most of the sights. It’s ok to the pyramids.
• Hattie (8/5): Great boutique hotel - If you are looking for a different experience to the usual chain hotels, then I highly recommend Villa Belle Epoque. It's located in a peaceful part of Maadi but easily walkable to local amenities and the metro, although the street is quite hard for taxis to navigate. Once inside, it feels so tranquil and has a beautiful garden and pool area. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Rooms are large and have plenty of character, although are not modern. The air con worked well and my room had a balcony and nespresso machine etc. The only issues were that my shower had no hot water in the mornings (it worked fine in the afternoons, but not very practical) and that the wifi didn't work well on my Apple devices (staff were aware and did their best to help on both occasions). Despite those minor issues, I would definitely return - it's a unique and charming hotel and a proper oasis in the chaos of Cairo.
• uday (10/5): Lovely quaint hotel - Its a pleasant change to find an old fashioned hotel these days. This felt like staying in a country house hotel but in Cairo. The ground floor hosts drawing rooms reminiscent of country houses, heavy ornate furniture, black and white photos in silver frames The bedroom I had was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was in good condition with 1020's style fittings The pool is nice and it is really pleasant sitting by the pool as the sun goes down The service at the restaurant is pleasant but a bit muddled The food is reasonable Overall a very pleasant experience
• Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was outstanding and friendly. I was even invited to watch an engagement ceremony at the hotel as the staff saw that I was interested as a foreigner. These kind of gestures make a vacation.

• Andy (10/5): Excellent Period Hotel - The hotel reflects the "belle epoque" well - it has been tastefully restored. The key plus about it is the food - well prepared and tasty. Avoiding upset stomach is the key requirement for a business trip to Cairo and this was achieved.
