Richard (8/5): Very good heritage hotel in the heart of Ballarat. - Centrally located in a historical hotel. Good parking. Street parking is free between 9 and 5:30 with an additional hour of free parking, otherwise there is parking behind the hotel. The Lane cafe next door is excellent for breakfast and coffee. Room was a bit dark (limited natural light and downlights not very bright).

Very small nook in bedroom to use microwave, fridge and kettle to prepare a meal. Easy chair old and uncomfortable to sit at desk to eat food.

A very quiet room although the hotel was fully booked. Top location and SUCH a good price, forget about those other hotels in Central Ballarat, I've stayed at them all and this is better. N/A
Roanne (10/5): Fabulous! - Love the huge bed, and the separate lounge and kitchenette from the bedroom. It’s so spacious. Amazing staff, especially at reception and the breakfast café. The bearded staff member was so accommodating. Breakfast was fantastic—the waffle was huge with marshmallows and berries, and the Spanish omelet was delicious. Thank you for lovely experience! None.

Brett (8/5): Perfectly central to a lively city center close to the best restaurants with a bit of history. - This is a historical building so was very impressed that they had noise doors to the accommodation. The only thing is that it had no outlook it was an internal room. Maybe others are different but for us for one night in a central location absolutely perfect. As above the room had no outlook as in internal room.

Tammy (8/5): Lovely clean property, central location and great option for family rooms. - The George was lovely and clean. Really quiet and well appointed. I appreciated the generous supply of towels, nice little kitchenette with crockery and decent mini fridge & microwave. The bathroom was modern, shower was good. Unfortunately we stayed in the middle of a heat wave, it was a 35 degree day and the air conditioning in the room was not big enough to cool the twin size rooms, so it made for a hot and uncomfortable night. This was the only downside to our stay. I note that the rooms were well equipped for winter weather.

Cheryl (5/5): Food excellent, room ok, ambience so so. - We had dinner and breakfast in the bistro. Both were excellent! Communication! It wasn't until our confirmation letter arrived (which wasn't received until after the free cancellation period had expired) that we were informed of live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The music continued until 2.00am! The booking site states free off street parking. The confirmation letter stated LIMITED off street parking. This parking area was an old backyard of the premises next door and freely accessible by other members of the public, although the parking signs state residents of The George only. The room, although adequate, was very small.
Donna (10/5): Everything was perfect - It was a very comfortable stay with the room being very clean. We could not ask for a better location it was perfect. Staff were very helpful. No trouble with noise at all. There was nothing that we did not like it was a very enjoyable stay.
Robert (9/5): We had a great time ultimately but there could be a couple of improvements. - Room was warm and inviting. The bistro and cafe are excellent and very convenient. Beds were awful and we didn't sleep very well. Bathroom has a see-through wall and no lock which was inappropriate for a family room.

Unfortunately the bed was not that comfortable and we found ourselves rolling into the middle, the decor was very nice and suitable to the hotel's heritage. Rachael (9/5): Highly recommend this hotel. Great value for money and very comfortable! - The hotel was immaculate, the room was spacious and facilities fantastic. One of the cleanest places I have ever stayed in and very comfortable. This is not a reflection on the hotel, but was hard to park/find a park with the private parking taken up. Was a very busy weekend, so this may have impacted the situation.

Dianne (9/5): Our stay was most enjoyable and relaxing in a great location - The room provided all the required amenities. I loved the spacious room and that we had comfortable chairs to sit and relax in, by the table or the desk. The bed was comfortable too. The location was great, central to restaurants and theatres. The Lane Cafe is lovely with nice food. It was always quiet and I liked that the hallways were secured. The Gaming Bar staff were most helpful in providing me with ice bags after I injured my knee whilst out for an afternoon walk. Access to the hotel carpark at the back of the property is quite dubious and the potholes in the lane are huge! A couple of times large utes were parked forward out of the parking spot (to the left of the entrance) and made it more difficult to get into the lane. The TV was an issue for my husband ... we couldn't access Foxtel and staff on two occasions couldn't assist us.
