• Veronica (5/5): It was disappointing because of the noise factor. - The room was decorated interestingly. The claw bath looked great. Hot water took a long time to reach the shower. The room faced the road and the traffic noise and sirens really made for a very poor sleep. The lift is tiny and had big delays.

• Nick (3/5): Frustrating. - Location. The photos made it look like we were getting a room with a sitting room and bath. There was not one available. First room we were shown was small, plus it stank of damp and possibly sewage. Second room smelt of paint. We were on the verge of getting a refund and looking elsewhere. Finally shown a multi storey room with a tiny bathroom which we took. The staff member did his best but it was not a good introduction. We also found a tissue box with one tissue, and a dirty face washer in the room.

• Carolyn (10/5): We came for a concert and I just stayed in the area and looked around. Great spot. - I was in a two story room! I loved it so much. It was very quirky and such a great location. It was noisy in the bar because of burger Wednesday, but I couldn't hear anything in the room. Our niece was in a separate room, but not too far from us. Loved it a lot.

• Michdlle (1/5): if you want to throw money down the drain this is your place to stay - Where do you start? This place Had no ventilation dirty mould in the bathroom so you go down and ask the staff for help and they just try and downplay. It saying that the building is old or the humidity. Vice versa the whole place. Smelt so bad. No windows to air the room out a musky smell streaming out of the rooms one easy fix get new windows No ventilation. Just air-conditioning that’s had a mouldy smell coming out of there I don’t know start this as a seven not to mention loud music till 2 am totally fine it’s a pub but also stop blaring music at 8:00 am. To pay $400 to be ripped off . I don’t even know if this place is even a hotel or advertised as one even if you were to get a complimentary espresso pod to realise that the cups were full of coffee from someone else and not even cleaned. I mean where do we start? Read read what I didn’t like about the place as above absolutely spacious how to write this place is so bad
• 101kierd (2/5): Disappointing experience-Hospitality Clearly Not a priority - We stopped in at Hotel Harry to meet friends for drinks and possibly stay for Dinner —but after half an hour , we decided to take our business elsewhere..In a suburb like Surry Hills , where there are so many great venues doing it right , this one really misses the mark ,. The Atmosphere was overwhelmingly loud , making it hard to hold a conversation.Cocktails were overpriced and frankly , underwhelming in both quality and presentation..Most disappointing of all was the staff —they seemed completely disinterested and disengaged , as if they’d rather be anywhere else Hospitality is about more than just pouring drinks —it’s about making people feel welcome ,,and this venue failed on that front. Wouldn’t return especially when there are many better options just around the corner

• Simon (4/5): Not good enough for the price. - Great location. Noisy from downstairs bar, even on Monday night, bar staff apologised “ they forgot to turn the speakers in the upstairs space off”. The rooms are ok for an overnight leisure stay but not fit for purpose for work travel, nowhere to hang clothes, no storage. Would not stay again.

• Geoff (6/5): - I enjoyed my stay - live music and dancing in the hotel and vibrant nightlife all around. Actual room was sub-par (on previous occasions, it has been much better). Bathroom tiles were literally mouldy on both walls and floor. Window sash was broken so almost took my head off when I opened it and it crashed shut. Shower was very hard to get right - boiling or freezing and wouldn't stay at set temp. while water pressure was really poor. Otherwise great. Comfy bed, pleasant staff, great food.

• Briana (2/5): A misleading and disappointing stay—outdated rooms, false advertising, and water leaks, with only the bar and staff as s - The only redeeming aspects of our stay were the lovely staff, the nice bar, and the good food. However, these positives do not make up for the poor quality of the rooms and the overall lack of maintenance. Would never stay here again and certainly wouldn’t recommend it. Giving it 2 stars at best. We booked a “Superior Suite” at this hotel, which was advertised as one of the largest rooms in Sydney (550m²). However, when we checked in, we were extremely disappointed. The room was nothing like the photos—it was small, outdated, and had a strong damp smell. It felt completely run-down and neglected rather than “superior.” After complaining, the staff did try to assist by moving us to another room. While this second room was slightly better, it was still far from what we had expected. Unfortunately, our stay went from bad to worse when we were woken in the middle of the night by water leaking through the ceiling. It had been raining outside, but we were not even on the top floor, so it’s unclear what caused the leak. To make matters worse, when we were leaving, we noticed water also leaking through the ceiling in the hallway.

It's such a labyrinth of corridors and doors and when you enter your room you're transported from a heritage listed property to an almost modern room. The staff are lovely and having a bar open late on-site is a dream for those who wish to partake. Luggage hold is a much appreciated offering, too.

We realise that - Nothing The photos are not a fair portrayal of the standard of the rooms. They don’t man reception until later in the afternoon. The 2 person lift is hard to operate and getting your luggage in with you takes skill and you need to be flexible. Upon opening the door to the room we realised this was not for us.

Room was the smallest in the hotel but was perfect for one person for 3 days .. super Comfy bed, air conditioning, fridge, coffee machine, hair dryer , tv .. loved it Noise from the bar can be loud at night.. it’s open late and pokie room open until 3am.. just take earplugs and as long as you up for a new/different experience come prepared for quite a unique stay..

Excessive mould, sink backed up immediately and was not rectified by staff. Thick dust on the light and aircon. Pungent perfume odor that was headache inducing. A very small room, hot water didn't work properly. Spent as little time at the hotel as possible. Marketed as trendy but really run down and not very good. Water leaking down wall and caused water damage and mould all over the wall. Not clean. Will be asking for a price adjustment.
• Jessica (8/5): Another great stay at Harry's.. just a little pricey - Second time we have stayed here. Love the vibes, love the eclectic style and great location! Like most Sydney accommodation, overpriced. Although a great venue, paying so much for somewhere to sleep doesn't make sense. I feel that this stay was nearly double the price because there were major events in Sydney so all accommodation doubled their price. Didn't think Harry's would follow suit but unfortunately they did. Quite disappointing and makes the stay less enjoyable. Hopefully next stay will be less expensive so we can spend more downstairs in the bar.

The bed was very comfortable and the room was air conditioned and very quiet. About the only thing missing was a spoon to stir my coffee, however it was great to have a coffee machine provided.

Fridge didn’t work. Not very well appointed. No glasses for water. Not even a teaspoon to stir coffee. Not very clean. Advertised as a bigger room. Lovely reception staff made up for it though.

The bar downstairs is fantastic and was really pumping on the Saturday night, but the sound didn't travel upstairs much at all. The 3pm check in and the 11am check out. We would prefer 2pm -10am every time. Some storage or shelving would help in the bathroom too.

We paid the most for the best room and we were in a tiny room at the end of the hall. I assume that the best rooms booked out already by why advertise and charge for a queen suite when it was anything but.

The hot water also takes a good 5 minutes to run through to the shower. Worries me that it wastes so much cold water trying to heat up. Then it was temperamental - scorching or cold

But what would you expect from a hotel in a pub?! - Had read negative reviews about the place being noisy, and sure, it was Saturday night and music and laughs but that subsided around 1 am. With a hotel being part of a pub, what would you expect? The staff were nice and the room was tidy and just fine. And very convenient just to go downstairs for a beer! Noting to complain about really. Harry's a pub after all.

• walkandwork (4/5): Smells like dirty hipster spirit - I get the heritage, retro vibes; I get the shabby hipster decor, but one thing I'll never get is over powering room deodoriser scents. It was so overwhelming ascending the worn carpeted stairs to my room. Inside the room it was mildly better. While the sheets and bed were clean (pillows were old and worn), the room really needed a full deep clean, especially in the bathroom. Sure, toilet was clean, but years of built up grime and dust around shower base, sink floor and tiles, was bad. I went to open the window to get fresh air (also, to help deal with scent) and found that it doesn't lock but opens into an air-lock, where I could look into a businesses back door. Not good for security. Happily, I stayed mid week which didn't include the noise issues that others have spoken about. Shame, as it doesn't feel like with too much work it could be worthy of it's 3 stars... at the moment, more like 2. :(
• Isobel (4/5): Disappointing - Location was great, staff were lovely and helpful. Be aware that it is a pub/live music venue and very loud at night. Rooms are very old and not particularly clean.
• Rama (4/5): - Great location and cool bar downstairs, unfortunately everything else was a shambles. Sound travelled through the rooms so if you are staying on Fridays or Saturdays, dont expect to sleep until 2am. (No mention on Expedia listing of late night club). The room was dusty and dated, bathroom drain a little smelly. Possibly preference but bed was uncomfortable, to soft with no support. No duvet cover, only sheets around the duvet which wasnt clean. I don't expect much for budget but this place didnt get any of the essentials right. Wouldn't stay again and personally think the rooms are not fit for purpose on club nights. Note: cant fault staff, they were all friendly and respectful.
