Guest Reviews
- Alison (6/5): - This property should be closed until they reopen with the new owners. Many things of the Ecolodging listing on Expedia were incorrect. They no longer serve breakfast and their pet pricing was $25/pet. The manager gave me the option to cancel. I chose to not cancel and stay when she offered to only charge $15 for my pet. The room was spacious and comfortable but definitely needed some work.
- machieliak (8/5): Improved! - Visited again after last year’s stay!
Motel has improved somewhat so that the price to value proposal is better now.
Simple and clean but needs further updating.
Just the right place to arrive, sleep and take off again
Breakfast is ok for the price.
- Trena (2/5): - To start with we booked with this place over a month in advance and was told we would have a banquet room and a Secluded area but they didn’t have either one. I had to wait 2 hours for my room to be cleaned before I can check in. And the customer service was horrible they had no water for the coffee they serve in the office area, No towels to provide guest. My room had no lamp, phone, refrigerator, or microwave. I asked for another room because of the strong Oder of pet urine and was told they didn’t have another one available.. I then asked for some cleaning products so that I can clean it myself and got the same response sorry we don’t have any.
- Marcus (6/5): - No continental breakfast... eventhough the site says it does... bad directions... hard to find unless u know what ur looking for
- Verified traveler (2/5): Awful - Maintenance person checked us in after washing his boat. Only got 1 key. No breakfast as advertised. No pool as advertised. Very run done. Looks like it was a great place in its heyday. Had to ask for more towels and toilet paper. Shower head was very low. Floors were dirty but beds were nice except for being high. Limited plug ins.
- Jacob (2/5): - The pictures from the website advertise and show a restaurant, a pool, a hot tub, and free breakfast. The hotel has none of these. It has a broken pool with green water. No restaurant and no breakfast. It smells funny too.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Maid harassment - Motel advertising reports a free breakfast and pool there was none of either open, ice machine and vending machine unplugged, i had planned a stay for 4 days, the maids husband approached my son at ice machine accused him of stealing cooler we brought from home using foul words, then his wife showed up at the door threatening to view cameras later found out the tape showed it was ours. The tv on wall so small couldnt see. After this experience felt uncomfortable we decided to head back home.
- zane (8/5): - It's an old hotel nothing extravagant, room is clean. Can't really complain about anything.
- MICHELLE (2/5): - Did not get a key for the door. Management had to let
- John (4/5): - This hotel was advertised as offering free breakfast, but they do not serve breakfast at all. The breadspread had dirt and a stain on it. The smoke detector had been removed from the ceiling. There was a small coffee maker, but no coffee was provided. The kleenex dispenser was empty. The shower curtain was not wide enough, causing the bathroom floor to get soaked. There was an overall dingy vibe to the building.
- Elizabeth (2/5): - The hotel was old, missing, siding they were no locks. It’s your extra locks on the door the door look like they had been taken off. There were no I had the door locked. Looks like it been taken off the one that extra protection there were no lamps for reading, images and overhead like you couldn’t even see it was just old shabby conditions.
- Nova (10/5): - The staff was friendly. However, there was a rusted hole in the sink. A joke in the wall was covered with duct tape. Limited electrical plugs. There was new floors and the room smelled clean.
- Norma (2/5): - The property was ok,,it was the reservations ,,I reserved 2 Q-Beds smoking ,so I arrived after midnite ,I paid for the room & my small doggy,, owner went and opened my room, he said he had one key & the room was 1 Q-bed ,no ice bucket,no ash trays ,,he could of told me this before I checked in
- carylon3659 (8/5): No Frills really comfortable - The beds were really comfortable The facility is in the process of a face lift but this was an economical solution to a great night sleep The young woman was named Faisy that checked us in and was magnificent. If you don’t need frills just a clean place to stay. Highly recommend
- michael (10/5): - the people there were very friendly......all went well ....thanks to them and Hotels.com
- Ruby (10/5): - Good, service very welcoming, clean and very comfortable bed and good pillows.
- 4givN (4/5): Only Positive is the Comfortable Beds - Stayed here twice coming and going out West. The only reason we came back the second time was for the comfortable beds. There was nobody in the office, but when you opened the door it chimed to let the owners know someone was there. We had a reservation, but I had to ask for the specific room type that i wanted. It took quite a while to check in, but the guy was pleasant. I did appreciate the guy went to check the room to see if it was OK, but then again I DID have a reservation, so he had all day to check on this...so more waiting.
We had asked for an outside facing room, but ended up in the inner courtyard, which was really dark and dreary since you had no outside view. There were nice palm trees and greenery with seating and games like shuffle board and pool around the area, but it did make it a bit noisy.
The room was huge, but the carpets were absolutely filthy! Our feet were so black that we had to wash them twice to get the oily black stuff off. It was really gross!! There was a fridge and microwave, but they weren't very clean. The TV worked, but it was annoying because it wasn't programmed, and with all the subchannels it was near impossible to find anything to watch.
The beds here were about the most comfortable of our whole trip, (including the more expensive hotels) which is why we came back, ! Too bad they don't spend a little more to clean the rooms, and bring them up to a decent standard.. The sheets have stains on them, and the key cards are from the old Ambassador Hotel, which I assume is what it was before it was Econo Lodge.
There was no breakfast here, not even granola bars to take. We left the second time, and there was nobody around. We rang the bell and waited and waited, but nobody came. We finally left a note that we were leaving and left the keys in the room. And we left a note that we had no facecloths in the room, so they wouldn't think we stole them!
We might come back for the beds, but that's the only positive.
- Y3369CYjoec (2/5): Sticky floors with cigarette burns - simly the nastiest room I have stayed in in years. I didn't even think about using the shower till I got to my next hotel room the next day. They thoughtfully had a coffee pot with no cups to drink from in the room. there was a bad musty smell and it looked like the hotel was being used as an apartment for a few residents. The lady who greeted me was nice but the hotel just doesn't match up to the standards of it's parent company. I was very disapointed. the room was paid for by my client that night so I paid nothing and it was still not worth the money. the Econo Lodge in Elk City actually felt more like someplace you would bring a new "friend" and rent by the hour. I hope the parent company sinks a little money into this to bring it up to the standards they boast about. I will not stay here agian. the outide of the building looks like a storm hit it and they just decided to leave it like it was. Very sad to see a once nice hotel fall into such disrepair
- Serena (2/5): Online misrepresentation - This motel was misrepresented on Hotels.com. I’m not a picky person but this hotel was nothing like the images on the Hotels.com website. There was no free breakfast, no amenities whatsoever. Our first room smelled awful, cigarette burns were on the bedspread, the refrigerator did not work, the carpet had a horrible stain of dubious origin, the toilet was filled with rank, old urine and could not be flushed because there was no water. The tv had not been hooked up, but that was very minor compared to all else. The motel was extremely run down and seedy. On the plus side, housekeeping and maintenance went out of their way to get us into another room and were very gracious about it. That room was adequate but very run down. I booked the room because of how it was represented on Hotels.com. and this facility should be revised or removed. DONT SLEEP HERE!!!!!
- amberk353 (2/5): Outdated and poorly maintained - One of the oldest looking hotels I’ve seen in a while, and not in a good way. I’m not sure how this place passes health and safety standards as we were missing a smoke alarm in our room, broken off locks on the door, fire alarm which looks 20 years old and the place looks like it hasn’t been properly cleaned in years either. Clearly the owners have been making repairs using the cheapest methods; our curtains had been safety-pinned together in several places, random furniture out on the sidewalk, missing ceiling tiles outside, severely old furniture inside the room. The bed was comfortable enough, but we saw some sort of bug climbing on the walls. Don’t expect anything like a regular Econo Lodge would give you - no towels, no coffee maker or coffee in the lobby, no soap, tv does not work. Also saw the police driving by around 11:00… stayed for one night, but it definitely seems like it’s not a safe area for families as it appears to be the more run down side of town. Just skip it and keep driving a few more miles.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I am not going to lie but this hotel wasnt the best. The guy that works there is weird and the ac unit sucks.
- Jamie (2/5): Pretty awful place to stay - I had low expectations based on the price. I should have dropped them lower. Room was large and bed was decent, but beyond that it was awful. Advertised pool and breakfast but both were closed. Lights in the lobby were off. Floor was sticky and filthy, stains on pillows and towels. Used Q-tip in the corner and old food drops/stains in the fridge. The whole establishment smelled terrible.
- okiesooner09 (6/5): Had a good night's sleep at Econolodge - On the outside the motel looks a little run down. Our room was spacious and tidy with a king size bed. It had a microwave, fridge and a coffee maker. It also has an easy chair and a bathtub with a shower. They remodeled the back of the motel. It is “U” shaped and originally had all outside rooms with parking all around. They enclosed all of the area inside the “U” with a huge metal roof with skylights. Under this roof they had a pool table, volleyball court, tables and chairs, the pool and lots of tropical plants. It was real nice but it was all closed down because of covid.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Helpful friendly staff. Hotel is in the midst of renovation. Will be beautiful when complete.
- Shonda (8/5): erfect for the price. - This hotel is exactly how it should be for the price. Remember that when you go in. It’s not gonna be fancy and there are plenty of stains about the place. The bed still slept really well and the owner/desk a manger was as nice and accommodating as she could be. It’s pretty bare bones, but it’s also like $30/night. If you do in understanding it’s this price for a reason, you’ll like it. And if you get a chance to talk to the owner, you really will. She went over the top to make sure we had all we needed. Water in the shower takes like five minutes to get hot then will get too hot. The tv service just stopped about 11 pm and I was too tired to call a maintenance man. AC worked great. Also great access to the interstate and two good restaurants.
- Shonda (8/5): Good value - For the very low price, I find this hotel to be a great value. But keep that in mind when you stay there. There is a reason it isn’t the $100/night room down the road. I will say I found the beds really comfortable. And the owner/clerk was SO nice and helpful. She went above and beyond to accommodate us.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Great stay. Clean and quiet
- Joe (4/5): - I book the room online because it said there was a restaurant and bar. I didn't want to have to go looking around to find somewhere to eat knowing I would be getting in late. when I arrived I found that both had been shut down. If i had known I could have stayed some where else closer to restaurants.
- Dean (4/5): Well... - A little bit scary...Just plan run down and old. I was just passing through to catch a quick cat nap before I continued on my trip. Beat up old SUV/car on the left side of hotel seemed to add to the trashiness. The indoor pool didn't look bad as long as you stayed within the fenced in pool area. Surprisingly, the sheets and mattress where good.
If your in a new relationship don't bring them here unless you like getting slapped upside the head and potentially dumped...lol..Thank goodness I was traveling alone.
But it was a good 39 dollar cat nap special.
The place has potential but needs a whole lotta TLC.
- hzrudegirl (4/5): Worth it for a nights sleep. - Driving cross country. Winds picked up and we decided to call the fight and get a place near Elk City. Everywhere else was booked or didn't accept Dogs, so we chose this property. Sketchy looking area, but the front desk staff was helpful. Night was quiet, bed was super comfy, the air unit was brand new and worked great. We got a great nights sleep before another long day of driving. They offered free breakfast, but we decided to skip it.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Property was falling apart, maybe under construction? The central areas were closed off and the amenities were not available for use. The staff, while friendly, were incompetent. The meal was a poor choice of one of three items from the cafe next door. Do not stay here.
- rhonda (4/5): Won’t be back - We paid for queen beds and were given doubles. Not worth what we were charged and uncomfortable with two ppl to a bed.
- Meander16334047871 (10/5): Great Customer Service - The nicest staff up front. Very clean rooms, comfortable beds, and has a great restaurant up front! I’ve never felt so welcomed to a hotel... especially for the price. I was even a few dollars short and the man gave me a room. Would definitely recommend!!!
- FromSouthtoSW (10/5): Nice little budget-friendly place. - We were happy with this hotel for the affordable price. The room is definitely not fancy and is a bit outdated, but it's very spacious and clean. We were able to park right in front of our door, which was very convenient when we were feeling lazy about dragging all of our stuff in after a long day on the road.
The lady who checked me in at the front desk was really nice and helpful.
There is a comfort food restaurant attached to the hotel. We didn't eat there, but their menu looked good and affordable.
If you're looking for safe, clean and comfortable and are fine with the place not being fancy, this Econo Lodge is a good choice.
- Bonnie (10/5): I love it - Good reasonable hotel, would stay again. would definitely recommend to others
- Suz (2/5): - Old old motel. Room was old and not updated. No coffee pot, no hair dryer.
Curtains hanging from rod.
They are working on updating it tho.
- green_chile_warrior (8/5): Great Little Budget Hotel - This is a super budget hotel. The family that runs it is very friendly and helpful. There is a quirky interior courtyard that is a nice place to shake off the road. It shows a little wear and tear, but it is clean and well run. Strongly recommend if you're looking for a clean place to get off the road.
- Scott (6/5): - A conundrum ....... The facility itself is a miss mash mess.....rundown and looks like a construction zone. The restaurant was very dated....so was the bar. BUT....the staff were soooo nice. The food was really down home "home-made " at the restaurant , my room was clean, beds comfy....and the bar staff very nice . Go for the staff, and look beyond the conditions of the building. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay were the staff will address you needs in a very friendly manner , please stay here. If you are used to a visual experience, be forewarned ....🙊
- eyesonjason (6/5): Cheap rate, OK stay - We were just passing by Elk City and wanted a cheap place to crash. It certainly was cheap, and we essentially got what we paid for. Room was ok, tidy and clean. Check in was a little difficult as nobody on the desk when checking in and took a while to arrive at the desk when called for.
Has a lot of potential.
Breakfast was served in the adjacent breakfast diner. You get a voucher to hand over for 1 of the 3 items listed on the voucher. I wasn't expecting much from this but sizable portions were provided. I think my friends were a little overwhelmed when they ordered extra to go with their free breakfast.
Wouldn't opt to come back based on staying elsewhere in Elk City and knowing there is better, but wouldn't turn down the place if needed.
- mary (4/5): Very depressing place. - Very disappointing for an econolodge. The check in was unprofessional. The breakfast was a choice of 1 pancake, oatmeal and toast Or biscuits and gravy. Everything else you paid for. The rooms were all facing indoors, no windows. It was s creepy big space to get to your room with very low lighting. The room was adequate but very well worn.
- Jerry L (8/5): - Good for the price.
- Tiffany (4/5): Don’t stay here. - Room was reserved for 4 adults. They had 1 roll of toilet paper, o kleenex, and 3 towels. 1 towel had crusted stuff on it. The sink had tiny black hairs like someone had just shaved. The indooor pool has not functioned in awhile they told us. Breakfast is not really included. You get one item and have to pay for the rest. There is a nightclub on the property that you can hear playing until 2am. When we complained about the noise they got louder. The refrigerator in our room had been unplugged for awhile so it smelled horribly.
- jbE6640EA (8/5): Great MGT and a restaurant - I was going to check out and go to another hotel when I thought there was suspicious activity on the south side of the hotel. After speaking with the MGT, they assured me that the people in question were regular visitors and just interested in looking my vehicle. No problems occurred that night. The restaurant is great after a long day of driving!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Disappointed: Double Charged Help Please - I was double charged on my VISA for one night's lodging. The phone number is changed, disconnected or no longer in service. It is not listed in the yellow pages.
- Juliet (6/5): Find another hotel - Kind of run down
- Jerry (2/5): System Unavailable - I tried reviewing this motel several time and kept getting the system is unavailable message. Why should I try.
- janicejw2017 (2/5): Choice Hotels check this out!! - The Econo Lodge sign should come down until this building is thorough rehabbed. I think my linens were clean, but it was hard to tell because the whole building was so dark and smelly. The one star goes to the desk clerk who was polite and helpful. She deserves a better place to work. I have spent the last six nights at Econo Lodges. I would rate two as excellent, three as good, and Elk City as terrible. Don't go there!
- U5698MYmichaeld (2/5): Pass This One By At Any Price... - Dirty and noisy rooms, dirty and torn carpets in room and common areas. Grounds not kept up. No hot water, Very old smoke detector kept beeping all night. Ceiling plaster needed repairs. See Pictures.
Owner Mr. Pranab complained that I should have made my reservation by calling him, instead of using a booking agent. He complained it cost him $4 fee! He also complained he had to pay the girl $3 to clean the room. Talk about pinching pennies! The whole place needs renovation, including management.
- gmok419 (8/5): Great Management and staff - Older property but clean rooms! Staff and management very nice and caring, Restaurant on property that you get a selection from free, for staying at hotel.. Have stayed a few times and always very wonderful staff!
- 450jimn (2/5): What a pit. I guess the low rate and advertising in one of those free magazines should have told me, - This was probably one of the worst places I've ever tried to sleep in. The front desk staff was friendly enough and the rate was OK. I was traveling alone and only needed a place to bed down but that where it stopped. The owners must live upstairs and come down when the front bell is rung.....if they happen to be up and hear it. Upon departure I rang but no response so I ate the free breakfast (which was really pretty good) and returned to the desk. Still no one came when summoned. I wanted to ask for a copy of my bill (didn't get it) and tell them that there was no hot water for my shower!!
The drapes looked like someone slept on them and then tried to hang them. There was no cover for the exhaust fan in the bathroom and the plaster was falling from the ceiling in front of the sink, BEWARE.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Somewhere To Rest Your Head For The Night - We just needed somewhere to stay on our trip to las Vegas. Was fine for what we wanted. Stop
- lisahE2178KI (2/5): Horrible! - I am not sure how this place passes any health code. The indoor pool and done area, which we had to walk through to get to our room, was drained, and occupied with frogs. The carpets were filthy. Broken furniture was piled in a corner. Our room was the same, with dirty carpets and walls with chipping paint. There was food in the fridge from previous tenant. Stains on the pillow cases. Our continental breakfast was a joke as we were told we could only pick two of the maybe four options at the cafe that was inside the hotel, and if we ordered anything extra, it would void our complementary portion of the breakfast! Counting down the months until this place is permanently condemned!
- bulldogproduction824 (2/5): This is the dirtyest hotel i have ever stayed in!!! - The hotel advertise a pool, the pool has not water in it and it is dirty. The room was filthy . We asked for more pillows as the pillows are paper thin, they would only give us one. I wanted to cancel the reservation and go somewhere else when I saw the pool and the room but I was told it was too late to cancel and not get charged.
- daisyann48 (8/5): Wishes - Ok we stayed here, we are a gold member. Now this place is right off I 40 exit 41. Lots of parking for transporters, truckers and family's. Beds are comfortable. Rooms are big. Pool is not open even being inside. Have a pool table. Rooms are clean. Hotel needs updated but for the price it was a nice stay. Front desk girl was real nice and was quick.
- Debbie1652 (4/5): only passing through - The front desk person was great, very helpful. My room #107 had the most terrific wonderful bed. The rest of the room as well as the rest of the place was old, outdated and in need of a make over. The carpet in my room was dirty, the bathtub had mold/mildew. The biggest problem was the shower ceiling. It had started to be repaired, the tape and bedding partially done. The painting was not done and I could see holes in the wall and ceiling, so much so I could see light from the room behind mine. I even wondered if someone could see in.
- shelia (4/5): elk city econo lodge - People were nice, the pool was out of order heater was out will be fixed at some point, the ceiling bathroom was split with ceiling sagging down, mold along floor and wall at air conditioner, above the window was a split. where you entered the room the wood above the lower level was split and missing its covering. I have stayed at several econo lodges and they have been really nice, I think this one was the black sheep of the family.
- Verified traveler (6/5): beds sheets we're unclean - it was not great, woke up was getting itchy.
- Paul (2/5): WARNING This was the worst place I've ever stayed! - I have never left a review about any hotel ever, but just could not let anyone else get ripped off like I did.I want my money back! There was 2 feet of snow just outside my room door on the balcony. They warned me about this but still gave me this room. There was a filthy, soiled stain from on the comforter. The room door even when fully closed had an opening 3/4 of an inch to allow the cold air to come in. The t.v. had no remote control and did not work at all in the morning. Although I ran the shower for 8 minutes in the morning there was no hot water, I could not shower. I complained to the manager and was only met with lame excuses and that I should have called the front desk and asked for another room. I should have asked for them to fix the t.v., I should, done this, that, and the other thing!
- Daniel (2/5): NASTY, NASTY, NASTY!!!!! - This was a nasty motel! We were moved to three different before we would stay and that one was still in poor condition. I have stayed at a lot of Econolodge sites and this one was nothing like most others. All rooms were dirty, broken and worn out furniture with missing drawers, some had wires hanging from the cellings where smoke detectors should have been, holes in the drywall, missing bathroom tiles, dirty clothing still in the room from the previous guest, I could go on and on and I have pictures ton prove it. If Econolodge wants to maintain their reputation they should revoke their franchise from this DUMP.
- Joseph (4/5): Old school, great value, sick biscuits & gravy - Construction makes this one a bit more difficult to get in and out of than usual, but it's a good place to crash if you're rolling in late and low on funds. What makes it great is the biscuits and gravy from the attached restaurant (free with your paid stay as promised) and rather large interior area that's straight out of a random 1980s B movie (you know the ones that show on niche networks on weekday afternoons - hilarious, yet mute at the same time.)
- Verified traveler (4/5): Cheap but terrible - All is out of order pool, ice maching,
Breakfast is included but only a part of: drinks and fees are not!!
3 choices only for the breakfast
Expedia should not recommend this motel!
- Chicago (2/5): In need of total overhaul - Carpets were dirty, stained. Tv didn't work and staff were unable to fix. Toilet was loose and easily moved! Advertised pool was not filled and pool area was unusable. Ice machine didn't work. Restaurant where breakfast was offered left alot to be desired, and not a free one. Internet was very poor. Needs total rehab
- Alberto (6/5): You get what you pay for - Was just passing through and was headed to abq.it was late I was tired and just pulled in to this location because it was right off the highway and the rest entry ramp was literally connected to the parking lot.this place is a bit on the older side and could use a renovated. It was the cheapest in the area so I went for it. Interior and carpet have stains older muggy smell. Inside room was decent but the bathroom door wouldn't close and the chairs had a lot of stains. I noticed cigar burns in the bed covers. Overall staff was friendly and there is free breakfast with legit biscuits and gravy or your choice of oatmeal or eggs and hash browns from the little diner downstairs. Overall I would not repeat but for 52 bucks and a last minute thing it could have been worse
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was adequate. The hot water was lacking. It was fair for the price.
- Peter (4/5): A quirky treasure - They staff were friendly and helpful in this quirky hotel. The indoor garden and empty pool were certainly unique. If there had been water, this area would have been wonderful. Amenities were very basic. The beds were very high off the ground and there 2 temperatures of the water; really hot or cold, very little between.
- Debra (8/5): relax refresh refuel - it was late we were tired and the room was comfortable and clean, the comp breakfast in the morning was very good and service was also. we will stay here again
- Keri (6/5): music from bar but comfy bed - Road construction made it difficult to get into the parking lot. Front desk help was very nice. Room was on an enclosed interior where the pool was located but the pool was closed since it had zero water in it and it was mid summer?!?!? Since our room was on the inside of the courtyard, the room felt secure but the parking lot-not so much. Inside our room the noise/music from the attached night bar was very loud. However, the beds were comfy and seemed very clean and quite new. But the other parts of the room were not clean and were outdated. The room needed new carpet. Of the 3 nights we stayed in hotels on our trip, this hotel had the best bed by far!
- Michael J (6/5): Reasonable overnight crash pad. - I was traveling from Kansas City to Carlsbad and needed a place to crash for the night. The motel was about what I expected. It was a bit beat up, but clean and the bed was reasonably comfortable. No harsh motel chemical smell trying to disguise a smoking room as non-smoking.
- Kass (4/5): Decent Place For One Night - Not a bad hotel for the price. Outdated but clean. The area is quiet and the room was pretty big! They serve a restaurant style breakfast, which is good for someone traveling like me. The only downside was al the construction on the roads in the area, but that'll be over soon I'm sure
