Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): Horrible Mothball Smell - Besides the smell, the hotel is average. There is a horrible mothball smell that gave us headaches and lingers in all of your belongings. The service, beds, and food and all average, especially for the price, but there are better options in the area that don’t have this mothball smell for similar pricing.
- GUEK LI (8/5): - The property is clean and the Reception Service Staff are polite and helpful. The property is near to the MRT and night market, all within walking distance of 5-10 mins.
There are many 7-11 around as well so easy access to food and drinks.
Do request for higher floor if you can. Reason being if you stayed on 3rd floor, people tend to throw their cigarette butts down and it will land on the space just outside the room and this caused the room to be filled with smoke smell. Luckily for us, the rain helps to remove the smell which we experienced on the first night.
- wai keung (8/5): - Staff helpful, convenient and walkable to MRT station.
- Kwong Chung (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Clean and spacious.
Cigarette smell remained in the room firstly assigned and changed to another without difficulty.
- Eiichiro (10/5): - Strong tobacco smell from somewhere
- Kai (10/5): - Awesome breakfast buffet
- Yen (10/5): - The staff are very friendly and speak English fluently. The room is clean and equipped with high-tech controls. All the lights and the air conditioner can be controlled using a panel located next to the bed. The breakfast are amazing. I love the congee with different of “topping”, coffee machine is fancy. And last but not lease, the price is reasonable.
- sharono (10/5): Great location - Great hotel in an excellent location, just a few minutes walk from Formosa Boulevard MRT station and next to the night market. Room was small but comfortable. Breakfast was average, and choose could be better. Would stay here again
- Kaiyuan (10/5): - It is a very good hotel!
- CherylDale (8/5): Perfect location - - Fantastic location
- Comfortable bed
- Spacious room
- Powerful shower with shampoo and shower gel provided
- Very clean
- Friendly reception staff
- No problems with the WiFi
- Breakfast was disappointing. Not a lot for westerners, just toast, bread rolls and cereal. However there wasn't any regular butter or knives to spread jam
- Rebecca (10/5): Good location & nice rooms - Very nicely located hotel with good rooms & good breakfast. Close to all communications. Clean rooms & drinking water on tap. No street noise.
- Yuli (8/5): No ice machine - There is no ice machine. Very inconvenient.
- Mark (10/5): - I really liked the front desk people. The mgr was kind and helpful. The serving in the breakfast area were pleasant and wonderful. The free breakfast was good ! Be open to different types of food! Great coffee! Overall a bargain for the price ! Thank you Cloud Hotel!
- Trini (10/5): - Very nice and clean
- Tracy (10/5): - The room had a mildew smell but we stayed at several hotels in Kaohsiung with the exact same problem so I dont know if it's a city thing or a hotel thing. Otherwise it was quiet, breakfast had lots of options, and it was one of the few hotels with a bathtub which worked better for our younger one. And location was just close enough to night market for access but far enough to be quiet. So recommended overall.
- Angelita (8/5): - Simple, clean, quiet basic hotel close to the markets. Breakfast extremely basic and we skipped it.
- Irene (10/5): - Likes:
- Hotel is about a 5min walk from an entrance/exit of Formosa Boulevard Station MRT
- In the evenings, LiouHe Night Market is on a street minutes away from the hotel
- Staff are kind and helpful
- The breakfast is buffet-style
Improvement:
- Not much to complain about, but the room TV tends to revert back to the main screen from time to time, rather than have the channel continually run
- Sunny (8/5): Good choice in Kaohsiung - The location is good, the room is clean and the breakfast is good too.
- Angela (10/5): Great stay - The Cloud Hotel was great and very affordable. The staff were friendly and the included breakfast was a nice perk. The room had an interesting smell to it but it was very faint so we didn't mention it to the front desk. Overall, it was a great sty and we would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): 1 week family trip - We stayed for 1 week yet our room was not cleaned at all despite being informed during check-in that cleaning will be done every 2 days. Only the towels were changed and the trash emptied daily. The breakfast was mediocre at best, not much variety. 1 noodle dish, 1 veggie dish, scrambled egg with corn or beans, 2 vegetarian viands and 1 with meat, and the lu ruo fan was just pure fat and the boiled eggs were not available everyday. They have congee and things to mix with it. By day 3 we were quite turned off by the breakfast already. We stayed at the 9th floor and despite having a dehumidifier in the halls, something smelled off.
- JULIAN (10/5): - Despite it being very close to Liuhe night market, it was a quiet and comfortable stay. Transportation is superemely convenient as it was near Formosa Island hotel. With a good deal will definitely stay here again.
- Janis (8/5): - The staff were very friendly. The room was clean but the air conditioning was a bit noisy.
- Jihyun (8/5): - Good condition, good location.
- priscilla (8/5): - Convenient area. Close location to trains station and also food places.
- YUKIKO (10/5): Super clean and friendly people - Very clear, kind reception stuff, breakfast good ( great coffee. Could enjoy Chinese kanji meal).
Convenient location. 六合夜市、新堀江area , 美麗島駅、supermarket, local restaurant, in the walking distance.
I didn’t mind that there is no window ( actually there is, but no view)
- Wong Ka (6/5): - Ok
- Po-Wei (10/5): - Great location
- Peter (8/5): - Hotel is in walking distance from subway and many bus stops. It has lots of food options. It is located very close to a night market yet it is very quiet. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was all traditional Taiwanese fair. Simple but good. Coffee was awesome. Good hotel.
- courtesance (10/5): - Room was modern, extremely convenient to the liu he night market and mrt. Great dining options around the hotel. Staff was pleasant, in house breakfast was decent but we ate out after 1 meal as we wanted to check out different food options. Will recommend to stay.
- Mable (8/5): - The room is very small and no luggage rack... either you lay your suite case on the floor or the bed. Room has a funny small and when you open the window, you are facing a wall from the building next to you.
- yotravels (10/5): Very good value for money and good location - Good hotel, within walking distance from mrt Formosa boulevard.
Night market in the next street.
The staff is very nice and helpful. You can lend bicycles at the hotel, very nice feature when you plan to bike around the city as we did.
Rooms are very comfy. Breakfast is mainly Taiwanese oriented.
Overall a very good place to stay, will stay here again when in Kaohsiung.
- Keith (8/5): Staying at The Cloud - Convenient hotel next to Formosa Boulevard station and next street to Liuhe night market. Good room size with modern facilities. Breakfast is typically Taiwanese
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very convenient location & near to LiuHe night market...
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very goos - Big room, excellent location, friendly staff. Will stay here again
- Cindy (6/5): - Staff who attended to our check in didnt have any smile on her face, looks unfriendly & unapproachable. Each time guests pass by reception she will greet "你好" without any expression. Room is quite small but ok for my friend and I as we are not big sized. Shower area have no place to put own personal care products, a bit troublesome to place items on the floor. Window of the room is opaque, not able to see weather condition unless it is opened up, view wasn't fantastic anyway. Housekeeping personnel was hardworking to discard our worn disposable slippers when new ones was replaced daily. Not much variety for breakfast, just some simple dishes.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Check in/out was fast. Hotel room was very clean and comfortable. Location was near to the Liu He night market within 3-5mins walk , even though it is near to the night market, as it is located in one of the alley , it is not noisy at all. Staff was very friendly and very helpful.
- 808tkn (6/5): Great Location , Breakfast Needs Upgrading - Cannot disagreed that is value for money and great location. Just 5 mins walk from Formosa Boulevard Station, Exit 11 , at junction walk left , first turn right and left again - Hotel is 150 meters ahead. Room is of acceptable standard and comfortable.
Breakfast - Fried eggs ( whatever style & fried to order ) is so common , but not available !! Food also not kept warm !!
Upgrade your Breakfast ... please !!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel is located just two streets away from Liuhe Night Market and about 8 minutes away from MTR. However, it is located in a quiet alley and there was basically nothing much around the area.
- Perry (6/5): Reasonably Priced and Good Location - The hotel is located at the back of a night market and is very close to the metro station. However, some improvement is needed for its cleanliness, but overall it is a nice hotel to stay
- Mei Lian (8/5): Okay stay but not impressive. - Overall, the stay was alright, location is at its best when it comes to night market, 3 mins walk away from Liuhe. However, during the day time there's really nothing much to do, eat or shop around the area. So make sure you plan your itinerary properly. One thing I find odd, is that the room door does not come equipped with any peephole. Pillows are really too soft and could do better if each bed can be allocated with 2 pillows instead. Management really needs to look into breakfast variety, as a fellow Asian, I got sick off the offering by 3rd day out of my 6 days stay, well planned and time effective.
- Annabel (10/5): - The hotel location is good! Near to night market and train station. The staffs are friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - + The location is quite near to the Subway.
- Room 905 had unpleasant smell even after the assistance of staff using the air purifier/fan. This must be really improved.
- aiwoon (8/5): - very convenient, close to the mrt station
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location, convenience and staff service are great. Thank you for a great time
- William (10/5): - Very friendly and informative staffs at front desk, room is clean and towel is alright. Place is just 2 mins walk to Luhe night market and 4 mins walk to subway.. I take the free bike which suppose to be 4 hours but they waive it when I used longer (staff forget to let me know).
- Tan (10/5): One of the better hotel - Hotel at a convenience spot next to night market (Mon-Sun). Turn left of hotel a 5 minutes walk to Formosa Bo. MRT station.Food readily available within vicinity. Laundry and Dryer for self washing clothes at roof top. Only comment breakfast almost total vegetarian.
- Roy-UK_SG (6/5): Holiday - This hotel is very near to
Formosa Boulevard Station and Liuhe night market.
However the double room was rather small and not much space to place luggages. The room was clean. For overnight stay it was not a problem. If staying more than a day, We would perfer a bigger room or look elsewhere.
- T3008 (8/5): Good Location - The location is good, close to night market, surrounding with local foods. The famous Farmosa station also very close. If you are traveling with big luggage, you need to exit 1 from the station cause there is a lift and elevator provided. Exit 11 is the closest distance to the hotel but no lift or elevator there. Breakfast is good enough to fill up your empty stomach in the morning. I found out that the housekeeper didn't really sweep/vacuum the floor daily, they just change all the towels and make up the bed sheet for you. Overall, it is a recommended hotel to stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great service - The staff here are awesome and the service is great!
- lzhenl (10/5): very good location - This hotel is walking distance from the Liuhe Night Market, Watsons and Cosmed. The Farmosa MRT stop (Exit 11) is also nearby. The room is very comfortable and the shower is powerful. Breakfast buffet is traditional chinese breakfast which is quite nice. Would definitely stay here on my next trip.
- KELLY (10/5): - The staff was always friendly and helpful. The room condition was clean and pleasing. I really enjoyed the location since the hotel was very close to one of the night market and a MRT station.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice only a few mins to the MRT , supermarket and night market.
- Yuu (10/5): Great hospitality - Extremely clean room.
Great service.Friendly staff.
Most of hotel staffs can’t speak English but they use translator app.
- GL (8/5): - Nice hotel close to night market
- B8146OEsamanthac (10/5): Near Liuhe Night Market - I stayed at Cloud Hotel for 3 days. The hotel wass nice and very near to Liuhe Night Market. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was okay. However, the lift was quite small and there was one receptionist who is fierce. Overall I'd like to stay in this hotel and will come back again.
- AlinaC1987 (8/5): Very good location - The hotel is very close to the Formosa MRT stop, which is also the most beautifully designed metro stop in Taiwan. The rooms were rather small, but clean, the AC worked flawlessly, the bathroom was very clean and came with all the necessary toiletries. Breakfast is traditional Taiwanese, but you can also have toast and jam if congee and noodles are not your go-to morning food.
- wong (10/5): Value for money . Comfortable stay . Good location - Near to night market and MRT.
Lots of shops around. Convenient.
Breakfast with limited choice but tasty food . Can wash clothes using washing machine at the upmost floor. Worth staying . Staffs are helpful and honest. Room price is clean .
- TW (6/5): - cockroach were spotted at the dinning room. the towels provided were not clean enough.
- Stanley (10/5): Hotel recommended - The hotel is clean, bright and spacious. It is near the night market and the MRT. Staff are friendly and helpful. Fully recommended.
- Keydawn (8/5): Great Value, Excellent Location, Very Good Buffet Breakfast - It's literally a stone throw away from the Liu-Huh Night Market and a short walk from the KRT Formosa Stop's Exit #11. This guarantees easy access to hundreds of food vendors for dinner and the Kaohsiung Rapid Transit. Because this is the Metro Center stop for transfer between the Red Line and Orange Line, you are at the transit hub of the city, so a strategic location for tourists.
But be warned, the hotel is on a very quiet narrow street tugged 2 blocks behind Liu-Huh Rd, so at night it can seem a little disconcerting but this is KHH and Taiwan, you need not fear no evil. The upside, no traffic rushing by, which means you can't hail a cab which is extremely inexpensive by US standard, but the hotel will call one for you, usually arrives in less than 3 min. You don't want to hail a cab off the street anyway, some of them are old and not well kept, you want to call for one. The bigger cab companies maintain a standard.
The hardware is typical of KHH hotels, the base building is unfortunately situated mid block and older but the interior is relatively new and well maintained but the rooms are small and most of the rooms face another building a few feet away. So no view out the windows, all glazing is frosted (except 4 rooms on the floor which face the street in front and alley behind, see plan).
There is an artistic flare through out the building in the artwork on the wall, on the elevator door, on the room number/light but not interesting enough for a second visit. The breakfast buffet is pretty decent but over all the hospitality service is more run of the mill, not outstanding.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall okay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice location near the MRT. Not that new hotel but still decent. Breakfast really limited. Service from staff can be improved. For the price, still a decent stay.
- Jessie Li Kin (10/5): Absolutely a great choice - Excellent
- limpc65 (8/5): Good value for money - All was good. Easy to locate even for first timer in Kaohsiung. Take exit 1 from Formosa Boulevard station as it has the long escalator to the ground level. Check in and out was easy. RO water available in toilet, v convenient.
One feedback to hotel, pls install latch on toilet door for privacy.
- Celine (8/5): - Just a junction from the night market. There is a security guard around too outside the hotel. Room is big and comfortable. Clean condition.
- William (8/5): - The staffs are all very nice and friendly, the room is comfortable. Location is good as it is just right next to Liuhe Nightmarket.
- mrshuang (6/5): Best Location - Walking distance to famous eatery, Liuhe Night Market & MRT station. Friendly staff. Cleanliness need improvement, shower flooring got rusted. Breakfast is simple & good. Overall satisfaction 3.5 stars.
- Jay (10/5): - Nice & clean hotel close to Riu He Night Market. 5 mins walk from MRT station. The breakfast is quite complete, simple, ranging from bread, rice, porridge, salad.
- kibok (8/5): nice location the cloud hotel - I stay 2nights in Cloud hotel,
close to station and night market
but breakfast was not good!
hotel has washing machine on top floor
- Jimmy (10/5): Great place to stay - Great locations short cut to night market. Receptionist wry friendly. I would stay again next time when I return to Kaohsiung.
- Lui (8/5): - Great value
- John (8/5): A Good 3 star Hotel - Location is good close to Subway. Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. It is not a resort but if you want a comfortable bed at a reasonable rate this hotel is recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Review - checking into the hotel was fuss free.
Hotel is nearby to train station and night market which is less than 5 mins walk.
- HARIZ (10/5): Excellent value for money and location - Last minute booking, but great choice and excellent value. Near night market and central MRT station. Very good service, quick check in and out, knowledgeable and very helpful staff. She even assisted with making sure we accessed the basement car park lift correctly and safely. She even went to the basement to give additional assistance and direction.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good price and convenient. Free breakfast as well.
- liliant (10/5): Nice and comfortable - We drive here and the parking is at the basement via the lift. Take note of the tight space at the carpark.
The location is within the liuhe night market and within walking distance to the Farmosa Station Exit 11, if walk a bit more you can see Exit 1 and there is a lift and many eateries too.
Our rooms are on the 9th floor and the TV is able to connect to the wifi and we can view youtube on the TV. At the rooftop, you can find many washer and dryer for your use.
We recommend the Ruifeng nightmarket which is also accessible by their subway.
We also use their taxi and it was affordable.
There is another hotel right besides The Cloud and it was really old fashion style.
Different strokes for different folks. We are happy with The Cloud.
- Hasliza (10/5): Recommended. Value for money - Prior to my trip I emailed the hotel asking for directions as I was traveling solo and do not speak much Mandarin. The reply was prompt. The directions were precise and I arrived safely. The hotel is located near Famosa Boulevard (exit 11). If you are arriving with large suitcases you may want to take exit 1 or 3 and walk down. Email hotel direct so they can provide directions/ advice. It’s just 2 minutes walk away from the Liouhe night market (also known as Liuhe night market on some websites). From Formosa Boulevard station, it was easy to get to any locations, considering it sits on both the yellow and red line.
Compared to its neighbors, this hotel is smaller in scale and had a small lobby. However decor was modern style compared to its garish, old fashioned neighborhoods. Room was clean and new- had modern, white, clean lines and large flat screen tv. This is more like a 3 Star boutique hotel so do not expect large lobby with cushy sofas, chandeliers and bell hops. Staff was friendly, always greeting “ni hao” whenever I passed by the reception. I would like to point out an elderly gentleman at the reception who was sincerely welcoming and friendly. I can feel his sincerity in serving the guests. Another lady with glasses at the reception was also helpful. Although their English was not perfect, but they try to be as helpful as they can. Breakfast on the 2nd level was simple- had both Chinese and western (small selection) style cuisine.
Overall I enjoyed my stay.
- Oon (10/5): - Convenient location.
Informative staff who advised guests using baby stroller to use Lift at Formosa MRT Station Exit 1. Otherwise, use Exit 11.
Clean and modern hotel room.
- robin (8/5): Comfortable and affordable - Good quality room stay for 2 nights, reasonable breakfast too
- annaliza0 (4/5): Very bad experience - Room is very dusty, a thick layer of dust behind the television was what my friend and I discover after we feel the air is stuffy and dusty. I was sick the next day as I am allergic to dusty environment. My friend requested to change room the next day and the other room was better but still dusty. I will not recommend staying there. Staff wasn't too friendly in helping to change room too.
- Jonathan (10/5): Centrally located, great value, excellent service - Centrally located, great value, and excellent service!
- N (10/5): Good location. Helpful staff - Within 2-3min walking distance to luihe night market. Approx 5-6 min walking distance to the closest subway station. Got the corner unit which I consider massive compared to other Asian standard rooms. Hotel staff does not all understand English that well but they are willing to help with a smile. As long as you gesture or show them a pic of what you want then there's no issues at all for getting what u want. Overall very pleasant experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Convenient place - Nice and convenient hotel.
Stone throw away from night market and train station.
Free washing machines.
Need to pay for the dryer.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent location. The staffs are friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and great breakfast. Exceeded expectations with the price paid.
- Steve (8/5): - Nice, clean and easy
- Verified traveler (6/5): Close to night market - Hotel reception staff are very helpful. Location is very good and is 1 min walk to the night market.
- Lionelsg (8/5): Great Location - Convenient location near Liuhe Night Market and the subway. Check-in was efficient and quick; but the lift will need a little patience. Room is compact, and basic toiletries provided.
Front desk helped provide suggestions and directions to nearby locations, including calling for taxi to the airport.
Only set back during my stay was the lift broke down in the morning but was quickly repaired within an hour. Walking down from level 7 was ok, but the return journey to the room was a different issue for me.
Nevertheless, I was happy with my stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Money well spent - 10+ experience with this hotel. Staffs are super nice and polite. Breakfast is great for Chinese customers but others should have no problem accepting the cultural foods. Hotel rate is reasonably priced. Night market is 2 minutes away with lot of choices.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The daytime female receptionist was rather unhelpful when we asked where is the nearest place to take for lunch as it is 1 pm. Such simple advice cannot give. We also received negative response from her on all our requests. Sour grape face. Hotel switched off the light for laundry at 12 am hence unable to use it. Breakfast edible only; shd put more effort in it. Bad smell along the corridor of room. Positive: Bed and pillow are comfortable. The male receptionist at night is more friendly.
- Lionel (8/5): - Location was near to Liuhe Night Market and the subway.
Wifi was problematic for me
- LAL (8/5): Nearby Liu He night market - Less than 5 mins walk from the beginning of the night market.
As we had 3 family rooms, we were given 2 types of family rooms. Room size differs slightly, about size of 2 desks but the bathrooms differs greatly. 1 is almost double in size with a bathtub!
- Es L (8/5): - Good location near night market and Mrt station. But the breakfast is very bad, u won't feel like eating their breakfast.
- SH (10/5): Nice and clean hotel - Nice and clean hotel near to night market and subway.
I love the variety of their breakfast, there are salad, bread and choices of noodle, rice etc.
- KWOCK (8/5): - Hotel is ok, room is clean, but breakfast is not so good, sausage and chicken wings are so dry, taste like keep re-heat from days before. Staffs are very friendly, you can borrow bike for free, also they provide washers with detergent for free, for that kind of price, this hotel is not so bad.
- lpypeiying (8/5): Small twin room but have everything you need - We picked this hotel because of the proximity to Farmosa Boulevard MRT station. If you have large luggage, when arrived at Farmosa station, use EXIT 1 for elevator instead of exit 9 and 11 which are 4 flights of stairs. Getting right after getting out of the elevator and walk towards exit 9 and 11. The junction at exit 11, turn left and then right, then left again. You will see the hotel after the ever luck hotel.
It is behind the Liu He night market but it is quieter yet convenient. We stayed for 3 nights. The hotel seem small as we walked passed other hotels but seem like newly refurbished. Room check in for most taiwan hotels are at 3pm. We left our luggage with the reception and left for lunch. There's free wifi and breakfast. Wifi connection is fast. Breakfast was average and cold. We prefer to walk down to the famous local breakfast place Xing Long Ju instead. There is only 1 lift and it can get rather crowded at peak times. A little patience is needed. The room comes with everything you need. Soap, towels, toothbrush, comb, hair dryer, safe locker. The only down side was insufficient hooks in the toilet to hang our clothes. A good location as Formosa Boulevard station is an interchange. there's 2 MRT lines at formosa station.
- LuqmanM_12 (8/5): Convinient and safe hotel - Stayed here for a night. Very good location near Farmosa Boulevard MRT and night market. Just off the main street so it's quiet enough. Rooms are new and well appointed. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Free laundry service at the roof level - The hotel itself might be hard to find at first as it is behind a few lanes from the night market , but it is easy once you get use to it. The best part of the hotel would be the free laundry service provided (additional 30 twd for dryer)! Overall, it was a great stay!
- Clarice (8/5): Comfort zone stay - Was convenient as is near to night market full with foods n local product, 10mins walk to mrt
- Monica (8/5): Great hotel for the price - Overall it is a good hotel within an alley, so finding it at first may be a little tricky. Nonetheless, hotel is next to famous night market so it's very convenient for food. Cleanliness could be better as we found a used tooth pick on the bathroom floor, quite dangerous as it was sharp still. Other parts of the room were very clean, that toothpick was definitely accidentally left out by the cleaners. We got a double bed, the bed was quite hard, so this part could have been done better!
