- Jimenez (10/5): Estancia comoda - Excelente ubicacion, centrico.

- brendalK9644GE (8/5): Service-100%, Food - 0%, nice beds! - This place has great beds, great little soccer foosball for kids, keep them entertained. Service is great. It takes a while to get hot water. You cannot hear the outdoor traffic. Food is terrible!! Service is amazing!
- Esther (8/5): Great place in the city centre - The hotel is right in the center of San Cristobal with parking in the garage. Room was clean and had a heater, which was nice as it’s a bit colder in San Cristobal. Wifi worked perfectly.
- Ryszard (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jesús (8/5): Very good -
- Bart (7/5): Good - location (between ADO bus stop and historic centre), big bed
in a basic room / bathroom, clean bigger outdated hotel with a lack of soul / atmosphere, noisy room ( you can follow the conversation in the room next to yours).
- Taylor (8/5): Very good -
- LeavingHolland (6/5): Nice rooms, great location, bit outdated and old fashioned - Value for money I guess, this hotel gets lots of one-night tour visitors, groups that check-in and out at odd times, Due to the covered courtyard it makes it very noisy. People can be very loud.
The hotel itself shows old grandeur. It is old-fashioned yet well maintained.
There is a nice parking garage and the hotel is in the middle of the city center.
Electrical heating and extra blankets are available and every room has its own boiler for hot water, very nice hot showers!!
Comfortable bed, nice room, good wifi.
We had a mix-up at check-in, the person at the front desk thought we shortened our stay by one day, but did not ask that to confirm it, so we thought the hotel gave us an additional discount.
Later that week another hotel in San Cristobal charged our credit card.
As if the "discount" was withdrawn.
No communication.
We had to go to the front desk and ask about the payment and they confirmed that they thought we were staying one day less, and since we weren't they charged the credit card. It would be nice if they communicated that since we did not know why another hotel took money from our account.
For the rest no complaints, nice affordable hotel. IT has a sort of tristesse to it when you look at the restaurant, which was always empty and desolated. But I would stay here again.
Some COVID rules, gel, and such, but not stricks or consequent.
a happy sign on my door telling me the room was disinfected, but I only saw housekeeping cleaning, no disinfection.
- DannieJ_13 (8/5): Friiendly, convenient, Colonial style courtyard - I stayed here for 3 days and enjoyed it. The rooms look out on a pretty, gardened courtyard, and there is a pizza restaurant and bakery next door. Just 3 blocks south of the main Plaza, very convenient. Plus i parked under the building. Found the room comfortable, colonial style --- and very reasonably priced.
- PL298 (4/5): Cold rooms, noisy, chaos in breakfast, but good location - Stayed there for 2 nights. Rooms are very basic and really cold. Check up for heater in the room. It's really needed. Our room was in ground floor. Windows open to courtyard and you hear clear and loud all talks when people passing your room. WiFi was promised in rooms, but in real life it did not work in any other place than reception.
Hotel is ecologically unfriendly. They changed soap, towels, linen after 1st night with no need from our side.
We tried breakfast only once. There was large group same time and hotel could not manage it. There was absolutely nothing - no plates, no food. Staff is friendly and they really tried, but it took 10 min just to get a plate. We gave up.
Location is great. Couple minutes walk to central square.
- joemS2461RD (10/5): Beautiful, small hotel in character with a beautiful small city - We accidentally found D'Monica near the main square (Zocalo) of San Cristobal driving south from the southern highlands of Mexico to Guatemala. Rooms are comfortable, staff is very friendly, a courtyard filled with tropical plants, and very reasonable, $42 for a room with two double beds. Most important it has off street, secure parking. It is a block from pedestrian malls, blocking narrow streets from car traffic. There are many indigenous people selling their wares in these walking malls.
- Kalaharigeorge (2/5): Not happy - I should have checked Tripadvisor before staying here.
The hotel is a short walk into the centre of town. From the outside the hotel looks promising. But, my room was small, cold and uncomfortable. There was a heater.
The staff were reasonably friendly and the internet was good.
I have 3 complaints:
1. Staff walk the corridors all night, talking loudly, even at 3am. They constantly mop the floors, even at 3am, loudly moving buckets and trolleys.
2. The hotel attracts tour groups. Large ones. When I was stayed a group of 30 French tourists also stayed. They weren't quiet and hotel staff couldn't cope with their demands. The walls between the rooms are very thin and checkout took 1hr.
3. My bed was uncomfortable ..... could feel the springs in the mattress.
It's not an exprensive hotel, but not worth the money.
- Travelling_beetle80 (8/5): Central, good value - I recently stayed at this hotel for three nights over Easter. San Cristobal was packed, and a booking at an other hotel was cancelled at the last minute, but the owners of this hotel found a room for my friend and I at their sister hotel, and then moved us here the next day, which we really appreciated. The hotel is pretty inside - yes the rooms are quite simple (we were in the 'economical' section), but it is clean, quiet and with comfy beds, so all you need really. We did have a problem at check-out - I had left my wallet in the room, and when we realised and returned three hours later, it was gone. After speaking to a couple of staff it then turned up - all my cards were there, but the money had gone. I was quite upset, but I spoke to a member of staff in the sister hotel, and they couldn't have been more helpful - they asked me what happened, and got my bank details from me, and put the money into my bank account a couple of days later. I was really impressed with this service - it is common for money to go missing in hotels anywhere in the world, but you don't normally find a hotel which is prepared to check the security cameras and return your money to you to ensure that you don't have a ruined holiday. I would return to this hotel, or to this sister one, Hotel Catedral.
- DonB848 (8/5): Inexpensive but good option - I have stayed here twice in the last month and each time for over a week.
If you are looking for the Marriott... go to the Marriott. If you are accustomed to staying in local hotels with their own flare - stay here. The price is very reasonable and the staff is very helpful/friendly.
The hotel has good facilities for small meetings (30 or so people).
They do have an underground garage if you are driving. Parking is sometimes a premium in San Cristobal so this is a good bonus.
The hotel is only about three blocks from the downtown park and is right across the street from a small tourist market. You are one block from a walking street which will take you all over the town. A trolly leaves frequently from in front of the hotel and if you are looking to make a quick tour of the town, this is a great option.
San Cristobal is a great place to get a touch of culture, good food, and explore what seems to be hundreds of coffee shops.
- JoeBetsill (8/5): Budget price with extras - We planned to stay for only one night but ended up staying for 3 nights because it was just too good for the price to look for something else. We stayed in the 'economica' section, which meant there was no heater in the room. We were gone all day and it was warm enough when we went to bed - it only seemed to be a little cool in the mornings. The room had a private bathroom, plenty of hot water for showers, and clean sheets and towels every day. There is a beautiful garden in the hotel and its conveniently located a few blocks from the main square and across the street from one of the tourist goods markets. We paid 300 pesos a night, about half the price they advertised at the front desk.
- Gavontheweb (8/5): Tidy hotel with everything you need - Stayed here one night, arriving early one morning and leaving early the morning after, the hotel let us use the room from 8 or 9 am and were helpful at every turn.
I remember that the towels were pretty rough and the shower and bedroom weren't great but the grounds were nice.
The hotel is literally 5 minutes walk from the bus station one way and the town square the other. Perfect for our needs.
My tip if you are coming from Oaxaca is to get the overnight Platinum bus which was about $5 more than the standard but you get a wide comfortable seat and you wake up at about 6am coming through the mountains into San Cristobal. Stunning.
- RickRots (4/5): Centrally located, not worth four stars - Nice colonial building with extensive garden. Rooms are basic and old fashioned, water for shower was minimal. Breakfast is extensive but very basic and scrambled eggs cold.
Good internet in lobby and restaurant and sometimes in the room. Staff at reception desk was not very helpful, did not speak english and reacted with " non comprendre " when a question for printing an e-ticket was asked. Restaurant is sober and not cosy.
- mexigringaSeattle (6/5): Warm! - We switched from a less expensive hotel to this one because they had a heater in the room which was a deal breaker! Pleasant stay - very friendly staff.
