Guest Reviews
- David (8/5): - Nice lodge with great views over Tsavo East. Refreshing swimming pool. The restaurant offers a reasonable buffet meal service. Rooms a little dated (1970s) and room bathrooms could definitely use a freshen up.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Max. of two nights recommended. Very basic rooms, you could hear the neighbour's next to you, above and below you talking and at night even snoring. However, the lodge is beautifully situated with a nice view onto the plains. The water hole is a highlight. Food is very basic for Kenyan circumstances.
- jean noel (8/5): - the view is amazing, the location is just inside the gate . The room is small but acceptable. The food could be better. Over all , we are satisfied.
- EnigmaticSprite (8/5): Room with a view - This lodge is situated inside Tsavo National Park. It is situated in an elevated position, giving you views all the way to the horizon, from all points in the hotel, including your room.
As you sit at the bar or swim in the pool, your gaze goes across the park taking in various watering holes starting from just below the hotel, stretching across the park. Animals can be clearly seen coming to the waterholes. Herds of elephants, gazelles, waterbuck, birds dipping in and out of the waterholes is an absolute delight. The herd depends on the circumstance and the day.
We arrived in our 2wd sedan and were easily able to drive ourselves around the park, delighting in the wildlife around.
Sitting in the dining room, watching the full moon rise and the animals as the wandered in and out of the watehole, birds on the wing of a great variety. This is a real taste of Kenya wildlife and the hotel is situated to take full advantage. Highly recommended for the experience of the nature that abounds
- SafariGirl (10/5): To die for views of the Savannah & wildlife! - The location of being up in the cliff tops makes the hotel an excellent choice. Watched elephants and other animals from our sun-loungers. Views from our room equally good.
It would be nice if the hotel maintained its conditions. It's getting a bit run downed. Shame as this might spoil the place in the future.
- Mohinder (4/5): PAY DOUBLE JUST TO ENTER AT THE GATE - NO HOT WATER FOR 2 DAY WE SPENT THERE. Every day we were told that it has been used.
The bedding was not changed during our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place to stay - Amazing experience. Staff friendly- nothing too much trouble. Views are fantastic and we saw so many animals, elephants, lions, antelope and buffalo- whole herds of them just outside our window. Best view ever
- Stefan (6/5): - Wifi was not working. Cold shower. Poor food quality. Amazing view.
- Moortaza (8/5): Overall Good - Perfect apart from the fact that the lights went off all night so we had no fan and it was hot. They should get a generator. Lodge was not full so its a shame as its a nice place. Halal food available which is a must now as over 30% of tourists are Muslim. Wifi Good. View Excellent. Staff Friendly. Roofs comfortable
- Verified traveler (8/5): The best view in Tsavo - Well, the place is very decayed. The water was cold, but the weather was very warm, but even so I am not into cold showers! There was no electricity for a lot of the time, and very few guests.
However, this was authentic Kenya. The staff were so kind and helpful that one felt wonderfully welcome. The view of all the elephant families on the lawn-like plain in front of the rocky outcrop on which the lodge is built was unforgettable. The food was not sophisticated, but good.
We didn't pay a great deal and I would certainly choose to go there again. I love Kenya.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Amazing view, lovey pool, 100 elephants! - A typically African hotel, everyone smiling, not luxury but had hot water and comfortable beds.
- PJ (8/5): Great views over the park - The lodge is very pleasant, with wonderful views from rooms and dining area overlooking a water hole and the plains full of elephants. It was clearly built some years ago, but is overall well maintained - aside from a minor leak in our bathroom. The rooms were comfortable (we stayed twice for 1 night each), but a bit hot - afternoon sun on the windows heats them, and the risk of baboons entering the rooms meant we weren't willing to leave the window open when we were out of the room or asleep. There are fans and insect screening on the window and door, but the air circulation is limited. But overall, really good. Watching the lions, elephants and buffalo all trying (with some competition) to access the limited water in the water hole from the hide really close to them was amazing. The large number of elephants in the park was astounding.
- Angellah (10/5): Excellent - The place was amazing.
- Bonnie (6/5): lf your looking for the view.... - Voi Safari Lodge has an excellent view. The staff was incredible and very helpful. The food was as expected for a "typical" Kenyan hotel. The two disappointments were the extremely firm (hard) bed and the fact you can't leave your window open for air flow because of the threat of baboons coming in. They decor is a bit out dated, but really, it's the view and animals that your there for and there were animals every day passing through below the hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): The perfect location - Refreshing childhood memories for our son who visited with wife and two girls
- Arne Jostein (10/5): Good accommodation with view of wildlife for meals - Voi Safari Lodge is perfectly located for seeing wildlife. The lodge is located inside Tsavo East National Park, which means that guests have to pay entrance fee for the park to get to their accommodation. This would have been good to know in advance. Once inside, guests can move freely on the roads (without leaving their car ....). Watching elephants, antelopes etc at breakfast, lunch and dinner is nice. Make sure to lock (not only close) windows not only when leaving room but also at night. I opened window and left insect screen closed, and woke up by baboon jumping up to open insect screen and enter the room. Was able to hit him by throwing a water bottle through the mosquito net, and he jumped out. As long as windows are secured, everything is great. Friendly and helpful staff.
