• Shelly (4/5): - The blinds were dirty, there was cobwebs with dead bugs on the window seal, the TV didn't work most of the time it kept freezing up , behind the microwave was dust with a dead bug on it, dead bolt didn't work on door barely had one lock to lock the door on a very outdated handle, one of the chairs that went with the table was all tore up and neither chair matched the other chair or table, ceiling fan had dust caked on it. I am very unhappy with this stay manager made excuses for the TV not working saying because it's not used often enough. They did offer to move to another room, but looked at it and it was smelly and it was too much to move all my things from upstairs.

• Gregory (8/5): - Room was fine, parking was easy. Thin walls…had no one in the room next to me first two nights of my stay, third night had people next door and I could hear them snore and every move they made all night long.

• Mary (10/5): - Don't go by first impressions as when we parked our motorcycles in front we thought "Uh Oh!!!" Once in our room it was a different story ... Very charming and rustic with a western theme. The bed was fantastic and I got a great nights sleep. The room was spacious and had chairs and tables for our gear. One drawback is ashtrays on tables just outside each room. If you smoke, you'll love this. If you don't, it may be a problem as the smell of cigarette smoke can linger long after the smoker has departed. We were able to park our motorcycles in the back lot and they were safe. We dined nearby at Ewing's and had the best meal of the entire trip there. Hint ... if you like Mac and Cheese, try the Truffle pasta. It was most excellent. And yes ... I would definitely stay here again.

• dancH3462TG (6/5): Rustic Property - Nice stop for a night on the road. The lodge is an older property, but you can tell there's been a lot of work put in to make it nice and comfortable. The river is right there so the family can enjoy a nice dip. Restaurants are close by. The only caution is the AC is very loud. I carry ear plugs, so was not an issue for me.

• Maria R (6/5): - The host was not present during our stay (didn’t see him/her at all), communicated with us the check in process by text only (will leave the room door unlocked and leave key and receipt in the room); I texted that our ETA was 2 pm, so I asked if they allow early check-in (check-in is supposed to be 3pm) and host texted back they open the door at 3pm, so we decided to kill time checking out Lake Isabella, then at 2:08pm we got a text that room was opened (what???); very impersonal. There are mini fridge and microwave hidden in the closet but no coffee maker. Glad that we always bring with us a small coffee maker on our trips. We know the building is rustic old, but they need to do repairs on walls that are disintegrating in the bathroom. Two things we really care about are security and cleanliness. There was no key provided for the deadbolt, only the bottom doorlock, which can easily be opened by a screw driver, so we brought our laptop with us in the car while we go around town. It felt safer to leave it in the car than in the room that we’re staying at. The room is clean but not to my standard as the floor seems to have not been mopped. To be fair, it has a very good location next to the Kern River, a big beautiful park is just across the street and restaurants and stores are just walking distances. If you’re just passing thru and need a place to stay/sleep for the night and don’t want to pay big bucks, this might be for you.

• Julie (8/5): - We loved the location; close proximity to most everything.Manager/owner was friendly and accommodating. The coffee was delicious, appreciated,and perfectly equipped with creamer, etc, however, it didn’t make up for more than a few things needing improvement inside the rooms. What we did not like was the condition of the room and bathroom. While cozy and the sheets, blanket, and towels were clean and nice and soft, what would have made our stay more pleasant and comfortable would be an updated toilet seat and faucet in the bathroom as well as some newer comfortable chairs to relax in. The ones there were old and uncomfortable-something a bit more reclining would be sufficient, or at least, newer. The main door was not sealed to the outside allowing air to escape causing the ac to work less efficiently. We also noticed some mold growth on the ceiling above the shower. I also took a towel and cleaned behind the door(found dust and dirt on it)and off of the baseboard in the bathroom for the next guest. If asked if we would stay here again as it stands, I would say no, we would not. However, we would be willing to pay more and stay again if the aforementioned improvements were made.

• Amy (4/5): - Described as historical and rustic - actually run-down and dirty. We never saw any staff or anyone in the office. Thankfully, a lovely park was located across the street, The Kern River is a beautiful area, but recommend finding somewhere else to stay.
• Kimberly (2/5): - We chose this location to be next to the river and our room was on the opposite side of the river, and we were not aware of this beforehand. The room hadn’t been cleaned in months. Dust hanging from the walls, and a dead bat in one of the windows. Layers of mold in the shower and one shower door completely broken off of the track. The sheets were too small for the bed. They kept coming off of the mattress and were not big enough for both of us to be covered all night. One night we were awakened by a couple fighting in the street with management not taking any action until I asked for the police to be involved. My husband walked to an area of the lake that was only for customers of the hotel and was asked to leave. Having to explain that you’re a paying customer of this establishment is ludicrous! If you choose this hotel, DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 5!!!! I hope someone from the department of health or the BBB reads this and makes a surprise visit.

• Ray (2/5): - Total dump. I believe the rooms were converted sheds. 2 night stay for 2 rooms and only stayed one night. No water pressure. TV didn't work. Door locks were not secure. Had to tie the doors closed from inside the room.

• JEFF (4/5): - Convenient but it's right next to the main road and noisy. My room was upstairs. The stairs were in an unkept condition with debris all over them. An ashtray on the front porch was full of OLD cigarette butts. The lighting was poor and the lock was very hard to open. Like someone had tried breaking in at one time. The deadbolt was not functioning with the key. The carpet inside was very stained and dirty. Would not stay here again.
• Shane (2/5): - The trip was going good. Staff was friendly. We cleaned our own room daily when we seen the cleaning ladies we would ask for a broom and mop to clean the room ourselves. One, because we’re clean people and secondly it’s an attempt to relieve some cleaning duties from the hotel staff. We don’t mind. The day before checking out I checked my credit card and we were charged an additional $350 for our service animals. Upon questioning the management I was told service animals were not allowed and all pets were subject to being charged. I explained the website clearly stated service animals were allowed and under California state law and not subject to fees or charge. The manager stated I was wrong. I explained further just to be met with the same results. I explained even if the charges were valid, which they were not, it should have been $200, not $350. My credit card statement now reflects an additional charge for $200. We will have to wait and see it the original $350 is returned to my card.

The outlets we needed to charge our phone were behind the bed and when I looked back there there was tons of dust and actual garbage, I was the dirtiest place I have stayed in a long time and was no bargain. For sure not worth the money!

• Eric (8/5): - Easy access to everything in town. I have stayed several times in Kernville. The Riverview Lodge by far is the most convenient location. A private river access point and private parking was an awesome bonus. Kernville is a fun town to visit with it's historic feel and weekly community gatherings in the summer are always packed and so much fun to join. The entire town is very welcoming and the staff of the Riverview Lodge are no different. They made everything easy. Check-in was a breeze and checkout was even easier. Having a fridge/microwave and balcony to hang out on added to the experience! I highly recommend checking them out if you are going to stay in town.

We had trouble with the door locking correctly and there was not a deadbolt on the door. Being next to the river there were a few critters around, but the very friendly staff helped with that.
• Julie (4/5): True Review - When I booked this place, I wish it had been properly rated. The place needs an overhaul. It was not clean inside and out. The furniture outside was filthy, covered in dust, ash and smelled of cigarette smoke. Cobwebs everywhere. Walls and curtains need washing, behind the beds need to be wiped down. When you turn on the hot water the pipe bangs loud enough to wake up the neighbors. Ceiling needs to be painted. Decor is dusty and old….i don’t mind old because it can be charming, but this wasn’t charming. Some lights in the room didn’t a work. Four stars for the private beach. The people that ran the place aggressively chased off people unaware that they were on a private beach. It was uncomfortable.

The reviews lied…. I guess people who did reviews wants you to be ?? Surprised?. As they were…good luck

• ROBERT (4/5): Not Kernville's best! - Oid run down motel poorly kept up passing it self off as a cute and quaint rustic lodge. No face to face interaction with the office, they left the key and the bill in the room which was dark and dusty. No glasses no ice bucket, dirty grungy refrigerator and microwave in the closet leaving no room to hang clothes. Broken fixtures and what's with the ziploc filled with water and a penny hanging on the wall outside of every room? I could go on but, i think you can get the picture.
