Very old building therefore no modern amenities.we stayed for 2 nights and it was perfect. Breakfast was pretty good . People working there were very friendly and helpful. - Jenifer (10/5): A clean and comfy “fairytale cottage” hotel in a great location. - The breakfast was continental, no hot food, but good quality. The hotel is quaint, well maintained and in a great location just minutes from the beach and very near shops and restaurants. The staff are friendly and helpful. We had a great top floor room with a view of the heated pool and garden. It was pricey but worth it! It would be nice to have another egg option besides hard boiled for breakfast. You could hear some noise from other rooms but it was only a minor issue a couple of nights of the 6 we were there.

Das Frühstück musste man auf Papptellern und Schalen mit Plastikbesteck zu sich nehmen. Es gab auch nur in Plastik verpackte Lebensmittel und kein Angebot an warmen Speisen wie z.B Rührei. Bei dem Zimmerpreis habe ich mir echt mehr erwartet!

Ordinary conversation from the street corner was easily heard, but not a problem. The only way I would stay here again, would be with careful room selection.

- DrLiz (10/5): Well situated,cozy and clean! - We were lucky enough to find availability at this fabulous venue very last minute. Located on the edge of downtown, and only blocks from the beach, it is well situated and a fabulous value for the well healed community of Carmel by the Sea. To start with, it has great curb appeal with a Historic old French vibe and a wide variety of available spaces— rooms of all sizes, plus small cabins. The warm and inviting staff, headed by the fabulous Cecile, couldn’t have been more friendly and gracious. Our room was large with an incredibly comfortable king size bed, and a newly refurbished bathroom with all the amenities we could want. Our accommodations were immaculate, and extremely pleasing to the eye. There was a beautiful pool on premises, which, unfortunately, due to the ambient temperature, we didn’t test out, but we made good use of the included more-than -ample continental breakfast. Even more desirable, was that parking was included in the nights stay something that is rarely found in this affluent community. All of these offerings were included in the extremely attractive bottom line, which was a fraction of cost at several of the places in the area. I highly recommend.
- William (10/5): Lovely stay in brilliant location - Wonderful hotel in an incredible location for exploring Carmel. Great size room with very comfy beds. Ticked every box we needed for our stay. The reception staff were very kind and helpful too. We would happily return! Not a huge breakfast selection. Parking could also be challenging if very busy - but we didn’t have any issues at all finding spaces immediately outside.
- Rebecca (9/5): Private, comfortable stay - Fabulous location! Even distance between the beach and the shops in Carmel. Room was very spacious, with a sink room in addition to the full bath. A lot of storage in the room as well so we could really spread out. It felt very private as your door opened directly to the outside, so you didn't have to walk past the front desk all the time. We would stay again! While nice, the room was showing a little wear around the edges. The continental breakfast they offered looked disappointed so we went elsewhere during our stay. The shower also had a very low ceiling - the extra tall people would probably be hitting their heads!

The place is cute, very cozy and exceptionally clean. The bed was amazingly comfortable, and the bathroom recently updated with everything we could need. Breakfast the next morning was complementary, continental and satisfying. The location was a couple of blocks from the main part of town and in the other direction from the beach. Loved the fact that parking was included. The price was beyond competitive, and we were extremely fortunate to find this place at last minute. Cecile, the general manager could not have been kinder and she has every right to be proud of her establishment and her staff Nothing I can put my finger on

- Francis (8/5): Not a luxury stay, but it is comfortable and puts you in a great location at a reasonable price. - Excellent location on Ocean Ave., just a couple of minutes walk to the iconic Carmel beach, as wel as to so many restaurants and shops! It is one of the classic Carmel motels that has been there forever (literally over 100 years!). Breakfast was not great (minimal and not of great quality). The room was well maintained and clean, but rather small.

It smelled “old” and the layout of the room the tv wasn’t facing the chairs or the bed . We had to make adjustments but other than that it was fine.

The walls are a bit thin, parking at the property is near impossible and you’ll need to park down the street. The room was just ok, and the facilities look a bit in the aged side. Not a big deal but it would be nice to have a water bottle or 2 in the room as well.

A cute hotel in general just a horrible staff and a crazy owner. Kicked us out in the middle of a storm. They lost power so therefore they kicked us out for "safety" meanwhile all other hotels were ok with letting people stay as it was a horrible time to be kicking people out onto the streets. This was on christmas eve by the way!!

- Kristen (10/5): I would def stay here again - The location was fantastic. The room was fantastic, bathroom as well. The pool is a bit smaller, but cozy and updated. The bed is SSSOOO comfortable!!! It is important to note that there is no AC, and they will provide fans upon request. With our room facing the sun, it did get a bit warm. However, we stayed in the warmest possible month and were still pretty comfortable. I’d seen this place last time I visited Carmel and really wanted to stay at the charming Normandy inn. I’m so glad I did!! Thin walls. No AC
