Guest Reviews
- O'brien (9/5): Superb -
- Tanja (9/5): Home away from home. - Joyce and Roger are lovely hosts; extremely accommodating and friendly. We are so glad to have met them. The room was very comfortable and we had our own bathroom down the hall (it is an historic house). The property is spacious and quiet (just keep your eyes open for the driveway - there is no sign nor unique marker). Breakfast was delicious! Simcoe is a nice base from which to explore farmer's markets, antique shops, waterfalls, hiking Long Point, and the beautiful countryside. We hope to get the opportunity to return one day.
- Alexandra (10/5): Very pleasant stay - Beautiful old farm house. Excellent breakfast.
- Merey (10/5): Exceptional - We loved our hosts, our room and our breakfast served with style in the dining room. We will return.
- Eileen (9/5): A relaxing stay in a century old house. -
- Joanne (8/5): Very good -
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Rada (10/5): We'll come back again! - delicious breakfast (with options to choose from), warm cozy atmosphere, great location
- Anita (10/5): Beautiful historical home - The breakfast was delicious and made to order. The room was done in beautiful shades of blue. The bed and wing-back chairs were very comfortable. The bathroom was sparkling. Our hosts were friendly, helpful and engaging. The entrance to the house was a little difficult to find. We passed it a few times, because it's not well-marked. It truly is a "hidden gem"!
- Craig (10/5): A very pleasant stay! - Lots of choice in terms of the breakfast provided and the table setting was lovely in a very pretty room.
- Chantal (8/5): A Wonderful Stay in a Historical Home - The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. They made us feel very welcome and were helpful with any questions we had about the region. We loved the room, the size and the overall comfort. The breakfast was very good. Our only challenge (and it wasn't really one at that) was that being a century home, it was quite warm in the bathroom and dining room, as there is no central air. However, the bedroom had an A/C unit that worked well.
- Brianna (10/5): Exceptional - I liked that I could relax and take time to breathe, I don't get that very often with what I do for work. The food was incredible, and I honestly felt like a princess in the way that they served me. It was exactly what I needed.
- Soulliere (10/5): Great place in a great location. - The Culverdene is a beautiful old house in a garden setting. The hosts were very friendly. An excellent variety of choices for breakfast and ours was delicious. The house is close to Port Dover and the town of Simcoe. We would absolutely return.
- Butler (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): Lovely place in a lovely place. - Period property in lovely area. Port Dover is just down the road and worth a visit. It sits on the shores of lake Eerie.
The property was excellent, and the rooms charming. Nothing.
- Robert (9/5): I'd stay again if in the area. - Breakfast was excellent, and they moved the time to accommodate my need for early departure. There is no railing on the front steps, but once again they quickly accommodated me, by pointing out the rear entrance that was completely accessible.
- Brown (9/5): Great vacation stay with welcoming hosts. Fresh cooked breakfast each morning. - Beautiful property in quiet country surroundings but close to town. Nothing
- Pamela (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were wonderful and helpful in recommending some local restaurants/ wineries. Breakfast was excellent and of good quality with some of the items from local farms. We loved the fruit salad. We will definitely return when visiting Norfolk County again.
- Satish (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graham (10/5): This is a historic old home graced with charm by genuinely good people. - Breakfast was delicious. Conversations with the hosts and other guests were delightful. I do not want to leave. Having to leave!
- Mandeep (9/5): Superb -
- Jocelyn (10/5): A lovely stay outside Simcoe Ontario. Simcoe is surrounded by beautiful and productive farm land. - Breakfast was delicious, healthy and there was lots of choice. Options were given the night before and food was prepared to your liking.
The property was lovely and had some interesting trees on it, and there was also story about the history of the house in the room. This is not a "modern or contemporary " house. Our room was beautifully decorated. One of the owners is from France and is also a photographer and painter. There was no TV but this was not of concern to us.
- Mccarthy (8/5): Beautiful heritage home with great history - Breakfasts were great. Spacious bed room. Had to walk down hallway for washroom. Large property that needs more care to improve aesthetic appeal. Lots of grass trimming required.
- Mike (9/5): Superb - The house is charming. It has a hreat history, and the gardens are lovely. The owners are really lovely, interesting people who do everything to accommodate you during your stay..We loved staying here, and would stay again if we return to the area. Nothing.
- Janice (9/5): Superb - Our hosts were extremely kind, accommodating and knowledgeable of the history of the home and surrounding area. Breakfast was excellent each morning with homemade preserves and fresh produce some from their own garden. The room was exceptionally clean and we enjoyed relaxing on the front porch.
- Dlivingstone (5/5): It was just ok... - Our room was clean The grounds were overgrown and a bit unkempt. There was no signage, so it was difficult to find. Breakfast was just ok. Upon arrival, we almost left before getting out of our car.
- Myron (10/5): Beautiful historic countryside home😎 - Best omelette I ever had!!!
- Vitalie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margo (10/5): It is definitely a hidden gem. - Gorgeous heritage house, very well maintained with European flavour. Delicious breakfast with multiple options; fresh fruits and preserves from own garden. Nothing. It was truly a great experience.
- Lars (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rainey (10/5): Lovely getting to see the area, learning the history of the home, and meeting Roger and Joyce. - Roger made a delicious breakfast both days with fresh local fruit. Would've spent more time on the main floor had the fireplace been working. Will book a Queen bed next time!
