Guest Reviews
- E.J (2/5): Niet prettig - Het is versleten boel
ruikt muf en schimmel op de muur,
hygiene is ver te zoeken
Mag duidelijk gerenoveerd worden
- Kuys (3/5): Never again. - Nothing The smell. Broken shower. Dirty kitchen. Electrical cords all over. Everything very old and poor condition.
- Jan (9/5): Very comfortable, thank you! - All of the above N/a
- Brendon (6/5): - Dated but good place for the price Dated and need of upgrade.
- Zaela (5/5): - Affordable price for a quick stay. Old, has a but of musky smell.
- Jacob (5/5): -
- Mary (5/5): - Great value, if you don’t mind very dated.
- Sjoholm (1/5): - Close to family The staff tried to charge me even though I prepaid online and I the morning I dropped something behind the bed when I pulled the bed out there were used needles under the bed
I stayed here with my family including my 4 year old was charged 10 dollars extra for the dog even though no mention of this on site
When I went to talk to staff in am no one was around
There was also blood droplet in the bathroom.

- Seler (10/5): -
- Woods (10/5): -
- Sharon (9/5): -
- Valerie (2/5): Very rundown shower, tape together front door handle broken - Close to town green space for walking my dogs Front door handle didn’t work properly was basically broken door was opened when I had actually locked it
- Olivia (6/5): -
- Benedict (8/5): - For the price? It's a bargain. I booked a standard room but in fact it had a fully equiped kitchen, living area with sofa and 42" flat screen tv, separate bedroom with tv. We booked extra nights.
- Curtis Allister (6/5): - Bathroom needs a complete makeover The rest of the area was satisfactory
- kathy (6/5): - needs a little up dating
- Carl (8/5): - PET friendly
- Natalie (8/5): - Very much a trip back to the 70s, kind staff, and large suits but it definitely needs better cleaning services or a more regular deep cleaning.
We didn't get lice or bedbugs lol so at that price a win is a win.
All in all, If you're not too snotty or prissy and can't afford the $300+ per night else where this does just fine... Maybe bring your own pillow cases just to make yourself feel a bit better. :p
- williams (10/5): Very reasonable price, polite staff -
- Lambertus (7/5): - Location It was fine for the money you are paying it is what it is
- JOHN (8/5): Excellent, quiet sleep. - Excellent sleep. Stove. Renovate this place.
- Shubhkarm (2/5): - Bad Location, not safe and dirty
- Jocelyn (8/5): - The man who checked us in was very friendly helped us with checking in and was very kind. Assisted us. The suite was good. We had a kitchenette, bathroom, living room with all the pots/pans, dishes. We bought paper towels, regular size soap and shampoo as we were there for 10 days. We swapped out the towels for more new clean ones after a few days. We had everything we needed. If your looking for a squeeky clean, new updated place this is not your stay. The beds and linens were clean but the motel room is older. If your looking for a quick and easy room for cheap this is the spot ..we traveled to nanaimo, ladysmith, tofino easily and its in a great spot near restaurants gas stations, tims, save on foods. It did the job for 10 days. The motel is attached to a trailer park which is fine, but be aware of your surroundings at night as there is some colorful charachters at night in the area. I would stay here again.
- Riya (10/5): - Good
- Joanna (6/5): - Very old hotel. Relatively clean. But it felt gross.
- hammad (2/5): - My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. The property appears outdated, with conditions reminiscent of a facility from the 1930s, and there was a complete absence of staff on-site to provide assistance or ensure guest safety. The overall atmosphere felt unsafe, uncomfortable, and unsettling, which made it difficult to relax or enjoy the stay. The lack of security measures, poor upkeep, and unwelcoming environment made this the most negative experience of my entire trip. Based on my stay, I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Lindsay (4/5): - I liked the free Wi-Fi, the bed was comfortable, the air conditioner worked well and the location was good but the kitchen and bathroom were dirty. Soap scum in the shower, the shower curtain smelled, the microwave and kitchen floor were dirty and the fridge had a weird smell. I'm okay with old as long as it's clean but we won't be back.
- Kristina (2/5): - If you have allergies this musty old dump hole is not for you.
- glenda (2/5): - Strong unpleasant odour , could not sleep in this room .
- Chris (2/5): - So dirty and smelly. The place just reeked of bleach. Hair all over tub and shower. Beds were not made and comforters were just sort of spread out on the bed. Should have spent the extra money and stayed somewhere else.
- Michelle (6/5): - Excellent value. The full kitchen was fantastic. It was like staying in an apartment and the value for the full kitchen and living room separate from the bedroom was great. The place is a bit run down, but the value and what you get for the price--if you don't need anything fancy--it is a great space.
- anne collins (1/5): Would not return - Beds comfortable Very smelly and dirty. Carpet felt sticky. Old and outdated which is ok if place smells clean but this place does not
- cory (2/5): - Would not stay here ever again.
- Shayla (7/5): Good -
- martha (8/5): - Place was good for the price.
- Mathew (2/5): - This property is squarely in the worst part of Port Alberni. Surrounded by a dilapidated trailer park. Locals mentioned to us that it is often rented by the hour. Staff booked us into a room that was already occupied by another guest. Checked us in at 12:00, but cut could not get us in early (we traveled to PA for an afternoon birthday celebbration) and when we returned later in the evening, we discovered the double booking issue. Had to bang on doors for over a half hour only to be told to go awa. Had to refresh the person’s memory that it was he who had checked us in earlier. After an hour we finally got a room…and let me tell you it was not worth the wait. Stay away from this property at all costs. Scraping underneath the bottom of the barrel.
- Amiee (4/5): - The host was not very polite and seemed in a big hurry to check out for the day. The bedroom was hot as A/C didnt reach the room. The bed was comfortable enough, but the suite looked straight out of the 70's. We were provided with enough clean towels and kitchen equipment and he was quick to replace the broken toaster. I'd never been to Port Alberni, but the neighborhood was older, but safe enough. The cost did not reflect the quality and I'd probably not return, unless I needed a quick rest stop.
- Xiao (5/5): Nice place but could be cleaner - The little padio gave a good view and a nice seating place The wifi didn't work and the carpet and bathroom wasn't very pleasant or clean.
- Gillian (2/5): Choose somewhere else - Comfy bed Old fashioned, run down, dangerously overloaded wiring everywhere on the property!
- Fred (6/5): - The AC much appreciated, also the beds were most comfortable.
- Raeya (6/5): - Super cute and convient location, door didn’t close properly, and the room was a bit messy but all around great place to crash for a weekend
- Morris (5/5): Passable -
- Elaine (4/5): - I was grateful to have a roof over my head on short notice over a high demand period that accepted pets. I am sure this place was once a very nice destination (probably 50-60 years ago). However, it was not well-maintained and the room was shabby. Credit for clean linens on the bed. Towels well past their usefulness - time to turn them into car rags. No recommendation from me.
- Bruce (1/5): Horrible - Nothing This place is a dump. I couldn't believe the condition of this hole. The gentleman at the front desk was nice enough to cancel our reservation. Can't believe Booking .com would even include this place on their site! Should have taken pictures to believe how bad this place is.
- Micheal (9/5): Superb -
- Mercedes (2/5): - Would never stay here again. There was an awful urine and musty smell. Stains on the beds, flooring & bathroom. It looks like it gets a ten second tidy, aside from the towels, that were clean but smelt strongly of bleach. Location felt very unsafe. Thankfully the AC worked well for how hot it was. The “couch” is a futon bed and you can feel every spring. There is class everywhere, everything is unplugged because they want to avoid extra costs for running the utilities. Dishes were not cleaned properly, the fridge had a smell. Needless to say, I will never stay here again.
- Allen (6/5): Pleasant -
- Manpreet (10/5): Good place - Everything Nothing
- Makarand (6/5): - The location is good.
The property had a musty smell as we entered the room.
The carpet had a damp feel.
The beds were in good shape.
Towels were clean.
If the property has a clean paint and carpet replaced, it will be a good stay.
- William (2/5): Smells old - $10 fee for pets. All sports channels available on tv. This place is giving strong '80s vibes... and not in a cool, retro way, more in a 'why isn't this updated?' way.
- Jan (8/5): Perfect for what I required. - Quiet, convenient, clean, away from the crowd, efficient.
- Brian (4/5): - Not so good I paid for 3 nights and the motel started packing my bag after 2 nights while I was out. Before realizing I was good for 1 more night. They packed my dirty laundry in with my clean clothes, the thew my toiletries in the garbage and slippers were put in my food cooler. Before they realized the mistake they made as the room receipt was on the table. Very poor service, although they did apologize.
- Rado (2/5): I don't recommend. - Bed bugs bite my family. Mattresses were old and uncomfortable. The kitchen sink was dirty.
- Teresa (7/5): Good - Very retro! 1971 maybe lol
Allows pets, low price. Very strong scent of cleaner.
- Glenn (4/5): A Very Poor Establishment - The motel was extremely old. There were electrical cords on the floor and strung on the walls.
I would suggest detonate not renovate.
Beds were comfortable. Internet access was extremely difficult and there were only 2 specific areas in the room you could get access - one of which required you to stand up.
For the price, I would say NEVER stay here.
- Barb (1/5): I was very frustrated that my reservation was not honoured. - I didn’t stay as no one was there when I arrived.
- Judy (8/5): - Bring your own coffee, milk, sugar and dishsoap. I preferred to use my kettle. Lots of space. Old bedspread and insulating blankets. Windows allow fresh air for decent sleep.
- Fang (10/5): - The room is huge. It is with 2 queen beds and 1 sofa bed, which can accommodate a party of 6. The room is with an electric stove and with some basic supplies.
- Wayne (6/5): - The price of $78 was the positive. The building needs a lot of loving. If you are looking for a bed and shower. This is for you.
- Chailler (1/5): Disgusting - Fridge didn't work, I am covered in bed bug bites !!!
- Brian (6/5): - Quiet adequate accommodation for the night. There appeared to be no heating in the main bedroom, but adequate blankets were provided. Difficulty experienced on check-in with payment-machine appeared to be down so needed to pay cash; fortunately I had enough cash with me
- Heather (2/5): - Had a problem with credit and he would not take other card .Told me to fine another hotel. No way to run a business
- William (6/5): - Refrigerator was very dirty, did not use.
- Rae (2/5): Very poor - The room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years.Filthy kitchen & bathroom, carpets need to be cleaned.
- Rick (6/5): - Its perfect for a place to crash. Nothing special about it but nothing really bad either..
I would come back if I was in the area.
- Melody (6/5): - Trailer park right behind
- Ken (9/5): comfortable room at a good price - Make no mistake - if you're looking for a cute, updated place with tons of ambiance, this isn't it!! But if you want a comfortable, clean room at a reasonable price, you've found it. This place is old but well kept. The facility was clean and roomy. It had a full kitchen with plates, cutlery, cooking pots and pans, and everything you need to cook or prepare meals. The living room was big enough to fit a fold out bed that doubled as a couch, coffee table, kitchen table with three chairs and a tv. The bathroom was big enough and had a decent shower and the bedroom had two double beds in it. Overall, a very comfortable, relaxing, and enjoyable stay. Everything was fine
- Profaqua (6/5): Pleasant - It was very dirty! I had to buy Javalisen cleaner to clean and disinfect everything! In 7 days, the towels and trash can were only replaced once! When I arrived, I had to clean the fridge. The door was closed and it was hot inside the fridge! Not very good for our health! Conducive to bacteria! Fortunately, there were no harmful insects in this apartment! No heating in this apartment! It was cold at night! The shower drain was blocked! The water was rising in the bath when I took a shower!
- Brendaen (4/5): - Unimpressed, even for the low relative cost
- Ashley (6/5): A dive that needs updating! - The size of the space in the room. It was standard size of a motel room. The owner/ staff and office needs love and care. The curtains for the shower need replacing. The freezing cold space with all windows open on entrance after 9pm comes across offensive on purpose. I'd never stay there again!
- Weishi (6/5): - Property condition need upgrade
- Charlene (8/5): I would recommend to anyone on a budget. You can barely camp in a tent for the price of the room. - My husband loved the retro feel of it. We are old school. It was built in the 60’s and everything is still original. Loads of space. Had his own bathroom and a full kitchen. He made his dinner in the unit. Everything was perfect. Incredible value for your money.
- Alan (1/5): Just avoid this place. - Bottom of the barrel motel in Port Alberni, best avoid it if at all possible. No one appeared at the reception even after I waited over 20 minutes.
The reception area totally stank and was filthy; it was a just a blocked off hallway with a desk and video camera attached to bell to ring for service. I cancelled on the spot. I can’t speak for the rooms, but I suggest you don’t waste your money on this dive.
- Peter (4/5): Old hotel but not expensive - Good value for money but an old motel in poor condition.
- Lambertus (8/5): Very good - Closeness to things?we wanted to do No hairdryer
- Scott (8/5): Very good -
- Shannon (1/5): Your rates are not worth the stay. Not if there’s mold, stained ass towels, dirty dishes claimed to be “clean”. - The bed. The mold.. now we’re all sick..
- Sandra (6/5): Good value - This hotel is a great value for the area. It was great to have a kitchenette. It was not fully occupied despite the No Vacancy being displayed. The property is rather dated though - only plugin in bathroom is only for a razor and too high up for useage.
- Brenda (4/5): - Very dated
- james (10/5): - Old style facility with a kind and gentle owner.
- Sylvia (6/5): I would not rent this room again, it appeared they may have bed bugs, because he had a can for spray - Location, spacious. Had coffee pot but did not provide coffee or condiments.
They have the fridge on a timer, and it will turn off, my food or drinks were not cold because of this.
- Howard (4/5): Old motel in bad neighborhood. - The owner/operator was challenging to communicate with both in person and by phone. Very old property with some maintenance so not completely run down but definitely not in good shape, in need of serious upgrades. Beds were reasonably comfortable, no offensive odors and we didn’t see any bugs so that was good. The trailer park behind the room was totally sketchy with people up and about all night long, although they didn’t make a lot of noise, it felt very unsafe. You must check in before 8pm and the office smells terrible. The pictures look better than real life.
It would be worth a few more dollars to stay elsewhere, we will not return.
- Julie (7/5): Enjoyed my night - was clean, comfortable, had air conditioning and was exactly as I expected. - Property was as advertised and as per photos. Nothing.
- Sylvia (1/5): Okay - The spacious space in room, and has a stove and fridge. Wanted to charge me more money. I felt like he judge me because of us being First Nations, said make sure the room is clean. There was no coffee or condiments for coffee, ie, coffee grounds, coffee mate, sugar.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not clean, funky, gunky smell - You get what you paid for, but of course at least they should have tried to clean the room and sanitize. We have to wash the cups, kettle and coffee maker first because it's so dirty. When you go for a shower both the shower and the faucet are running and that makes the tub filled up with water while taking a shower, funny but not good though. The room has funky, gunky smell. I hope not all the rooms are the same.
- Break (3/5): Poor - The manager was extremely nice. The layout of the room was great. The room was quite dirty. The dishes were dirty, outside of fridge sticky and the cupboards and walls were very dirty. The room is carpeted and it stank really bad. We had to keep all of the windows and door open. Also the mattresses were quite stained. Bedding, towels, and bathroom were clean though.
- varun (2/5): - Carpets were dirty and unhygenic, whole property were smelling and i had two kids one infant and one 4 year old girl . They could not sleep whole night due to smell and unhygenic condition. I would highly appreciate if expedia could refund some sort of money as my infant and my daughter coukd not sleep whole
Night due to unhygenic enviornment. Expedia should not promote such a smelly properties
- Angela (5/5): It wasn't too bad. - It had comfortable bed. I encountered an issue with the fridge plug outlet, which was non-functional. This required me to relocate the fridge away from the wall and connect it to a working outlet. Regrettably, this meant plugging it in near the sink. Since I had salads and fruit, it was essential to keep my food refrigerated. Additionally, the futon mattress had significant lumps, making it uncomfortable to sit on while watching TV. The property has considerable potential; however, it would benefit from some updates to enhance comfort.
- Keith (4/5): Disappointing - Comfortable and old. Could use an upgrade
Fridge and kitchen were an excellent bonus!
- Dyck (1/5): Uncomfortable unfriendly unaccommodating - Nothing Service I’m pretty much anything that had to do with the motel
- Cintamani (8/5): Very good -
- Fanny (4/5): Old motel - price not worthy - Close to downtown Port Alberni and big parking lot It is an old motel (old bathroom and bathtub) with a old decoration (carpet everywhere). They probably haven't invest in any renovation since a long time. The fridge was not working.
Payment only by cash...
I don't think it's worth the price and I wouldn't spend more than 2 nights there...
- Pankaj (7/5): Good -
- Sharon (8/5): - Very poor paint job inside, clean however.
- Savana (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jennifer (7/5): Good - Price
