- Bruno (6/5): Localização e estrutura excelentes, mas custo-benefício fraco e serviço demorado. - O que eu mais gostamos foi, sem dúvida, a localização: vista incrível, pertinho da praia e, na prática, a melhor de José Ignacio, inclusive melhor do que muitas opções em Punta del Este. A piscina é linda e super agradável. O staff é muito simpático (e vários falam português, o que ajuda bastante). E a estrutura de academia e spa é excelente, de altíssimo nível, facilmente uma das melhores que eu já vi em hotel. O que poderia ter sido melhor é principalmente a relação de custo-benefício, a acomodação em si. Os quartos são razoavelmente simples. Alguns pontos de manutenção são necessários no hotel, então a piscina tem algumas madeiras soltando e ao mesmo tempo o serviço acaba sendo muito demorado também. Por mais que o staff seja simpático, pedir algo no restaurante demora demais. Acaba que tudo acaba sendo desproporcionalmente caro para o que de fato se entrega. Então se o hotel custasse um terço do valor, talvez isso não incomodasse tanto, mas é muito caro frente ao que oferece.

- Bernardo (9/5): Great and pleasant for a good rest!! - Breakfast is fair; could have more options à la carte and the service could be faster!! The buffet was poor, in my view! It's weird that the rooms don't have a TV. I was able to get one because the staff was gentle enough to look for it (and they found one). Specifically, when the weather is bad (it was the case in one day), there is little option for entertainment in the hotel. Also, there is no indoor pool and the 4 pools the hotel has are outdoors and not climatized!

The positives: the staff is very friendly, the art is amusing, the yoga and gym amenities were great, and the resort overall is truly beautiful. However, the basics like service are an afterthought and poor. There is no beach service. They will set up very uncomfortable “chairs” and an umbrella for you and that’s it. Allegedly there is pool service but at no point did anyone ask us if we wanted anything and if we got someone’s attention and did order something, it never came. Service was also very slow overall. Also, we filled out an initial survey about a week before our stay and we’re not sure what the point of it was. It was never followed up on. Lastly, they made a point when checking into our room to tell us that while it appears the shower will get water everywhere (there is no enclosure), it won’t. That is false. Water will get everywhere on the bathroom floor. This was our first time in Jose Ignacio, and we can’t say if another resort or hotel would be better, but this was our experience.

Our room was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully designed, with every detail thoughtfully considered. The food was exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and artfully presented—and the service throughout our stay was top-notch. A special thank-you to Lucia, the property manager, whose genuine hospitality and gracious attention to every guest made us feel truly cared for. The entire team reflected her positive spirit and professionalism. We left Bahia Vik feeling relaxed, inspired, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommended for anyone seeking luxury, comfort, and authentic Uruguayan warmth in José Ignacio.

The place located right at the beach with gorgeous views of the village of Jose Ignacio and sand dunes. At this time of the year is perfect to enjoy the views while reading, walking thru the beach and all along the cost filled with amazing size rocks. You can also go bicycle riding all around and discover the gorgeous town of Jose Ignacio. Buffet breakfast in Bahia Vik is a really tasty experience of fresh fruits, juices, delicious pastries, sandwiches, croissants, great coffee and tea selection. For those keen on exercise and movement Bahia Vik offers yoga, pilates and strength gym, a complete experience not to be missed!

- platypus101 (4/5): Disappointing Visit - We have just returned from a very disappointing visit to Bahia Vik. Our room was vey substandard. This was especially true since it was priced as a luxury hotel. The furniture was sparse and chipped. The blackout curtain was ripped as was the screen on the sliding door and the room reeked of disinfectant. Most distressing was the bathroom. The shower was in the middle of the bathroom with no glass enclosure. It sprayed all over the floor. The bathroom was painted with a scuffed black paint. In addition, there was no television. The public areas are better but the rooms are inadequate for the price.

The service was was good but the breakfast selection was mediocre. It was very expensive and if you want to go to town, you have to take their transfer, which is also very expensive. I felt we were limited in things to do and transportation.

- Ianc87708 (6/5): OK but find out what events are happening. - This was a family trip to celebrate a big birthday. The hotel is located on a beach and has a nice layout of rooms with terraces and a main building. Plus a big building that we didn’t fully understand at the start of our visit. The setting is pleasant but not wonderful and the staff were nice and friendly, however in 4 days there we did not meet a senior person, nobody asked how things were or offered us guidance. The pool and the gardens are very agreeable for all of our stay it was quiet and very pleasant to spend time there. Then on the last night what would have been a nice stay in an ok hotel was spoiled. As we sat down for a quiet dinner on our last night, a rowdy group of people appeared in the restaurant and made it impossible for us to stay we had to leave without eating. The staff were overrun and embarrassed but no help. We had found out what the big building was - an event centre. As we left I had long WhatsApp exchanges with Lucia who appeared to be senior and I also had a phone call with her boss. They were both keen to express regret for what had happened but didn’t really listen to the 2 points that stayed with me. Firstly that the rooms are not practical, there was nowhere other than the floor to put a suitcase. Secondly that the event space and a quiet beach hotel did not make for a good mix.

I believe for this price they should better prepare the rooms for check-in.

Localização perfeita com um dos melhores beach clubs da regiao o La Susana. Voltarei com certeza. A gentileza Uruguaia sempre presente. O serviço cai um pouco por razao da cultura local. Mas o hotel se esforça para te entregar um padrao otimo.
- mikalrf (10/5): A very special place with wonderful people - We had planned for almost a year to come to Bahia Vik in Jose Ignacio to celebrate my mother-in-law's 80th Birthday. Our stay more than exceeded our expectations. It is a gorgeous setting, with a large dining room/lounge with huge windows that look out on the ocean. Each room is named for the artist whose work decorates that room, which makes the experience feel intimate and unique and not a standardized hotel experience. The hotel is small, and the staff made all 9 of us feel. We were cared for individually, recognizing us whenever we walked by the front desk and continually checking on us, giving advice, or helping us with plans. A couple of employees went above and beyond to help us. Zahira worked tirelessly to ensure we had dinner reservations, activities, and tours. When I had a concern about not being able to get into a crowded yoga class, she made sure to check into the situation and follow up with me so that I was able to enjoy myself. Most importantly, however, Lucia was the hero of our trip. We had a challenging situation involving one of our young adult children who got lost in another town, and she stayed up all night with us, translating Spanish and advising us on how to proceed. She stayed working hours after she needed to and displayed such incredible concern, consideration, and care that we felt we were in excellent hands. We can't wait to return to this beautiful country with lovely people, delicious food, wine, and an exceptional setting.

- ATraveler4 (10/5): Elegance and premier service in a beautiful setting - The location, service, food, and overall ambiance is spectacular. Each person I encountered went above and beyond to fulfill any need that I had. The location is so unique being a hotel actually on the beach. José Ignacio is quite exclusive and expensive, so yes, things are not cheap. But I feel as if the costs were absolutely worth the experience I had here. I cannot wait to return.

It was disappointing to sit by the pool and read a book in an uncomfortable chair. Hopefully they can rectify that moving forward. The staff, the hotel, the services, and the driver support were all excellent.

Didn’t know this when I booked, should be communicated in advance to let guest not choose they type of art. asked to change room and it was only possible with higher rate. I considered it very inappropriate. I was looking for a peaceful room and stay and the room was the contrary of that. Also, shower in the bathroom wet the whole bathroom. For the high price of the hotel, both things were quite unacceptable.
- Kathryn (1/5): Disappointing for what is a beautiful spot. - Beautiful surroundings, design and art. ability to walk on beach into town. No one told us that we were basically beside a night club. First night woken early AM (5 AM) with music blasting as apparently doing a sound check- off and on for 3 hrs. So loud bed was vibrating. We asked manager if we should move elsewhere as we need sleep. When you pay over 2K a night expect to be able to sleep. He reassured us that there is a law they need to shut things down by 12AM (which they had the night we went to sleep). Turned out that was not correct as then there was another party until 1:30 AM - staff informed us when we came back from dinner - again so loud whole room vibrating. We need to be up by 6:30 for the airport. The night inbetween we were up all night with shutters that were banging due to staff forgetting to secure them. We stayed 3 nights, paid over 6K and ended up exhausted. If you want rest stay elsewhere. We were assured manager would connect with us before we left about the issue but he did not.

- Juan (4/5): - Smell of urine in the room. They had an issue with the bathroom and they ha e us the room anyway. The Garden rooms are in the middle of a forest not garden. The rooms are very ugly painted and rooms have no TV and old connection for iPhone 4 for speakers.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is absolutely stunning and the food was excellent! So beautiful, it had the subtle vibe of being at someone’s beach home. But at this price, I’d like more obvious service. Requests would include beach chairs where one can spend the afternoon reading, movable pool umbrellas (there is a total absence of shade on the property), more comfortable lounge chairs, nice-to-haves like sunscreen, and regularly bringing more shampoo and lotion to the room. Bahia Vik scores maximum style points but is lacking some of the basics you’d find at another high end resort.

Watching the sunset is a real treat. Rooms are elegant and spacious. A/C is excellent, and beds are very comfortable. Bathroom is a real treat!
