The hotel is located right on the main square, making it easy to access the entire tourist area. The dining experience on the terrace was spectacular, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. Amazing meeting room with great and reliable technology! If there’s an event in town, there may be a bit of noise, but other than that I recommend it 100%.

Don’t bother taking the bigger room because it was nothing like depicted in the pictures indicating a fireplace and balcony. It was a standard room with an extra table. Bathroom was small! Breakfast is not their strength although enough to start the day. Breakfast has some extra stuff that you can buy and are not included. Hotel wants to arrange check in via WhatsApp before you arrive, what can be bothersome when traveling.

El hotel cuenta con una terraza-bar muy agradable y el personal de servicio es muy amable y atento. Nos ayudaron mucho orientándonos con planes que queríamos hacer en la zona. La cama era espectacular. Una de las más cómodas en las que he dormido. Como aspectos a mejorar, y de manera constructiva, indicaría que las cortinas de nuestra habitación eran totalmente translúcidas, lo que complica dormir una vez comienza a amanecer. También se agradecería un poco más de variedad en el desayuno.

El aseo de la habitación no fue el mejor, solo tendieron la cama pero no lavaron el baño que es muy importante. El desayuno muy básico y son tacaños pues tienen unas raciones exactas y no es bufete como tal, pues te sirven lo que es y no puedes repetir nada. - jairol428 (2/5): Ruined my birthday and women’s day surprise. - I recently stayed at Hotel Plaza Mayor in Villa de Leyva, Colombia, and was appalled by the hotel's inexcusable failures. Despite its beautiful location and terrace, our stay was marred by abysmal customer service and management incompetence. The restaurant manager, Sofia, was unbelievably rude and incompetent, failing to deliver on promised surprises for my birthday. The waitress was the only bright spot, but even her excellent service couldn't salvage the disaster. We were kicked out of the terrace after 10 pm, and a pre-paid mariachi serenade was disrupted due to false complaints from other guests. The manager's response? Total indifference. Upon arrival, no one lifted a finger to help with our luggage, and front desk staff were apathetic and unhelpful. The TV in our room didn't work, and when we reported it, the staff offered to help at midnight - an absurd suggestion. When we returned to the hotel, the TV still wasn't working, and we were moved to another room, where we found a bathroom and a shower with black hair (despite my wife being blonde). These issues are not merely disappointing - they are unacceptable. The hotel's management is clearly inept, prioritizing profit over customer satisfaction. I will never return to this hotel, and I strongly advise others to avoid it until drastic changes are made. Shame on Hotel Plaza Mayor for ruining my birthday weekend."

Unfortunately, the hotel failed to meet these expectations in various ways. Despite the beautiful location and terrace, our stay was marred by poor customer service and management issues. The restaurant manager, Sofia, was unhelpful and rude, failing to deliver on promised surprises for my birthday. We were also kicked out of the terrace after 10 pm, and a pre-paid mariachi serenade was disrupted due to false complaints from other guests. Upon arrival, no one offered to help with our luggage, and the front desk staff showed no sense of urgency or customer service skills. The TV in our room didn't work, and when we reported it, the staff offered to help at midnight, which we refused. When we returned to the hotel, the TV still wasn't working, and we were moved to another room, where we found a dirty bathroom and a shower full of black hair (despite my wife being blonde). These issues stem from a lack of training and operational leadership, leaving us extremely dissatisfied and ruining my birthday weekend. - WeEnjoyDiscovering (8/5): What Happened to Breakfast!!!!!!! - Over the past several years, we have stayed at the Plaza Hotel. The location and staff are exceptional. We stayed 13 through 17 August and am writing since my Wife and I are disappointed with the change implemented for breakfast. As an American, I have no idea what and why we were served such a small portion of egg, fruit, coffee, and bread. On Monday, 14 August, the staff could not feed the people - there was not enough food and people who were waiting to eat were not happy. We miss having the option of going to the other 2 restaurants where you can have an authentic Colombian meal, or American. From speaking to several employees at the hotel, we were told we are not the only people disappointed with this change and others had told them the same. We have booked for several days in January, 2024, and told Tatianna we do not want breakfast there. We will pay and eat outside since the food is so much better. Please reconsider offering the 2 restaurants again, even if it costs more.

- ANDREA (10/5): Great location, but hotel needs work in the room - The hotel is very well located, but bedding is horrible. Villa de Leyva is very cold and it has just a couple of thin blankets, so at night you can feel the weather. Pillows are in plastic material and have the sheet over, so it’s not that comfortable. It is dog friendly so you can expect a 5am bark in the room next to you. It’s not a couples hotel to be able to sleep in.
- Maria (10/5): - The hotel was beautiful and the plaza was right outside the hotel. It is a stunning view. However, this isnt the reason I would come back. The food service manager of the property went above and beyond for my daughter who has celiacs. She was so caring and helpful. She was a hard worker trying to accommodate us and everyone else. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
- enviroush4 (10/5): Mountain Views, Yummy Brews, Vibey Crews - Temperate Tuesday at the rooftop bar, Icono. As the rain began to fall, I looked for a place along the plaza to grab a drink and escape the family dynamics of my group. Well, I found the right place. Not only is it the bar with the best views of the montañas, but it’s got a summery, light ambiance that beckons you atop. Nicholas quickly recommended me a drink with a smile and took care of me. Ruiz brought the magical blue elixir over and torched some rosemary to add some additional pizazz and flavor. The selenium drink (tequila with slightly muddled citrus) was well-balanced and tasty. I thought I heard something - their playlist was bumping some of my favorite vibes and I was compelled to asked staff who was on aux, as they were playing LP Giobbi who is my favorite but generally unbeknownst in LatAm. Sofia (the F&B queen of the hotel) and I exchanged thoughts about music, real estate, travel, and the future. All in all, great spot, great stay, will definitely be back. Thanks Sofia, Nick, Ruiz. Hasta la vista!

- Verified traveler (6/5): Great but super HARD Beds. - Might as well sleep on the floor. We've stayed in 100's of Hotels and this had the hardest bed out of them all. Bathroom also smelled like damp towels. But other than that it was great. Beautiful location and great staff!

- Lily (10/5): - El hotel es bellísimo, súper conveniente, central con salida a la plazoleta. Limpio y con parqueadero en la parte de atrás. El bufet desayuno buena variedad de pan, huevos revueltos, pericos, pancakes, chocolate, café y cereales. Una terraza con vista a la plaza y iglesia. Las cócteles no fueron muy buenos, casi ni se les sentía el alcohol y se demoraron mucho.
- Carlos (8/5): Amazing location, but some basic comforts missing - The property is gorgeous, and the location is as central as you can get. But definitely prepare for thin walls and older rooms. We could hear everything happening outside of our room (1st floor with foot traffic), so hard to get a good night's sleep. We also didn't have any hot water in our shower.

- Gloria (10/5): Fabulous stay! - Beautiful hotel right on the Main square. Make sure to head up to the rooftop to enjoy the views or sit by a roaring fire on the second floor if it’s chilly. Great, accommodating staff and wonderful breakfast. Would definitely stay again!
