Guest Reviews
A localização é sensacional. O quarto e o banheiro estavam bem limpos .
- Nelly (10/5): - It’s a hostel. The area is awesome even though you will need earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
- Barbara (8/5): Friendly and Safe, Noisy and Fun - Always someone at the front desk ready to be helpful and answer tourist type questions. Basic breakfast of eggs, toast, tomatoes hummus, and coffee; served on the pleasant rooftop; chance to meet other travelers. Perfect location for visiting the Old City, seeing the modern museums and visiting other areas of Israel using public transportation. Conveniently on the tram line and on a busy shopping street, however that means it is a bit noisy.
- Michael (10/5): - Q5
- Guillermo (8/5): - It is in the center and close to everything.
- Roberto (8/5): - The hotel is quite old, many areas would need an update. The Aircon is centralised so there is no way to turn it off but the staff can try to regulate the temperature. The staff was very nice and helpful! Also the location is great!
- Alan (10/5): Basic room but great location and service - Great location! Nice basic room! A little noisy outside at night. We would stay again.
- Sevdin (2/5): - Very dirty and never cleaned during my stay and also staff very rude
- Paul (8/5): - Convenient to the Light Rail Line. In the heart of West Jerusalem. Convenient to shops.
If the hostel wants you to stay in the annex nearby JUST REFUSE. It is filthy, broken down furniture, poor door locks. YUCK.
But the main building is good. Kitchen facilities lacking and uncared for my the staff. Breakfast is a joke dry bread and jam.
- Friedhelm (4/5): - Positiv: zentrumsnah
- ROBENSON (2/5): - Worst ...place I have ever stayed in
- Andrés (8/5): - Everything good, just a few details. Bunk bed was to noisy, mattress was with the spirals like about to get out, shower soaked wet the whole bathroom, some energy plugs not working, no control for a/c or heater so room was too warm, lights in the hallway were all the time on and it was a very big gap between the room door and the floor, light was coming in to the room!
- Albert (8/5): Nice sweet hotel - The hotel is in a great area
Near shops and near old city
And staff is friendly and good.
Osnat from the reception
Was incredible, we forgot few things
In hotel and brought us, the stuff we forgot, after calling us
We met in our city far from Jerusalem.
Just incredible how she care about us.
I thank her endlessly
- Sharon (8/5): - Great location, comfortable roof and room, the kitchen not clean .
- Passang (10/5): Good - It was good thank you
- Verified traveler (10/5): - this hostel is absolutely beautiful. a little on the older side but it was exactly where i wanted to stay to get that jerusalem vibe. the balcony made it all worth it.
only negative was it was not that clean. the sheets had stains and the bathroom had a gross smell. but for one night it was a good place to stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hostel location was good. All the staff were kind. but It was hard that there was no elevator, the staff helped us and I couldn't eat breakfast for three days because I was a traveler who started the morning early. I wish breakfast time was fast and I was confused on the first day because I was in a different location from my address. Anyway, thank you My best regards to Nina ~
- Adam (8/5): solo traveler - The staff was great. breakfast was basic of hardboil eggs, bread and toppings with tomato and cucumbers.
Excellent location only 7 min walk to old town and 30 minute walk to Israel museum.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Dirty and far to the city center
- Minghui (4/5): It is so-so - The price is fine, and the location is good, but condition is very poor. The breakfast has no thing to eat, very simple.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location. Very basic room and breafest.
Value for money not so good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): eat stay - Centrally located hostel. Very nice basic hostel with nice staff. I stayed in a single room - very good option if you want some privacy but still contact with other travellers in the common areas/kitchen. The rooms facing Jaffa street can be a little bit noisy - I think the hostel provided ear plugs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient Location - I stayed here for a week, and overall, it's convenient and close to the Old City, restaurants, cafes and Machane Yehuda Market. Breakfast is decent - boiled eggs, veggies, hummus, yogurt, toast, dulce de leche, jelly, coffee and tea. Not your standard American breakfast but I was okay with toast because I brought peanut butter with me. Unfortunately, you do need to wash your own dishes.
You have to ask daily to get your room clean. Also, you need to leave the A/C on when you're out because the room can get smelly from the bathroom sewer. If you have a room facing Jaffa St, expect some noises at night. Overall, I rate this hostel a 6.5/10. It was an affordable and convenient place to stay. That was my main two reasons why I chose this place.
- Rita de Cássia (8/5): - I was satisfied in general . Only breakfast could be a little better
Había mal olor a desagüe
- Ulf (6/5): Perfekt läge, men.....
- Antonio (8/5): - I rented a private room. With view to Jaffa street. Really pleasing to wake up in the city center, and 10 min walking distance to Jerusalem old city
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Breakfast wasn't so clean, plates, cups. Some more alterntives. The whole place needs fixing. Generally it wasn’t clean.
Ihan mukava paikka. Kadulta kuuluu ääntä myöhään, joten on hyvä olla korvatulpat yms. Pimennysverhoja ei ole. Yhteistiloissa voi tavata muita matkaajia. Yksiö on todella pieni.
- willem (8/5): - goed, netjes, iets mindere douche
- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid 6 bed female dorm - I have been in MANY hostels over the past 10 yrs. But this is the 1st place I evrr walked out of. EVER. After an hour, I was convinced I couldnt feel good there. This place is very rundown and really needs a good clean. The 6 bed female dorm was extremely cramped and the beds were even smaller than regular twin bunks. The carpet in the room had dark, dirty, gross spots.
On the other hand, staff was courteous and location is very good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - close to old Jerusalem, walking distance, staff will help if asking to
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The location was great! Short walk to old city and to the market. Lots of good cafes and eateries nearby.
Place is old and outdated. Has a rooftop that could be amazing with a little effort, but its not. No water pressure in the shower. Paint peeling off the walls.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location near the old city and near bars and restaurants. Simple comfortable room but rather limited breakfast options.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very convenient central location with reasonable prices and lots of amenities
- Verified traveler (6/5): - People working there were helpful and friendly. The heat to the rooms was available 2 1/2 nights out of 5 and the room was very cold when the central heating is not on. Was given a extra blanket.
Won’t stay again I don’t like to be cold with lukewarm showers during scheduled hot water time.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Workers were nice
Facilities weren’t as clean as I would have liked.
The heat is a central furnace and though it was cold it came on in my room 2 1/2 days out of 5. My window didn’t close properly.
Will not stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location is excellent. You are next to the light rail as well as the Old City and the market (Shuk) at Mahane Yehuda. That has its minuses, as it can get noisy, especially on Saturday night (after sabbath). Breakfast is quite substantial and you have access to a well equipped communal kitchen. Has a real backpackers feel to it, which is great if you want to run into interesting people from other countries. The facilities can do with some renovation. E.g. the water flow was pretty weak in my room and hot water in the shower was far from optimal, which can be a bit annoying in winter. Staff are friendly.
- Joanne Alice (6/5): Does what it says on the tin - 1920's building that could do with some double glazing in the front rooms opposite the main street where through the day you can hear the trams and through the night you could hear gangs of roving yobs making noise and disturbance
Some receptionists were very friendly and helpful others were rude and just could not be bothered
The handy thing was been able to store luggage and the hostel been able to book a Nesher shared taxi during Shabbat
Even thought breakfast was provided during my stay the que to get to it was massive and I was glad I had brought porridge with me as the breakfast the hostel provided was salad and the massive que to get it at 07-30 am in the morning put me off
If your stuck in Jerusalem on Shabbat and need transport to get back to Ben Gurion airport then this is a cheap way of getting around the Shabbat Friday problem where everything closes down Fridays
It would be helpful to people if the hostel could give help on how to find the central bus station in Jerusalem and directions on how to find the hostel say if you have to use the 405 bus from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem Central Bus station and the 485 bus from the central bus station to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv
So its a bit like a can of beans and does what it says on the tin but myself I found getting breakfast impossible, some of the reception staff unfriendly and gangs of Jewish youths throwing bottles around and been intimidating a scary prospect as a single 50 year old woman
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Private place close to both the new and the old parts of Jerusalem.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cool staff, excellent location and price. I love this place, free breakfast and close to the old city. And public transport
- Aguire (10/5): Perfect for pilgrims and temp stay. - Stayed in a 6-bed dorm, no problems. Breakfast was rich, the personnel was alert and approachable, it is the perfect place to meet other people seeking faith and make friends in general.
- YINON (10/5): Great - Very comfortable and nice
- Michael (8/5): Pleasant accommodation close to the old city - The location is excellent, easy walking to the old city. My single room was small, and sparsely furnished with OK bathroom facilities. Breakfast was included and filling. Staff were friendly and helpful.
- Marcelo (6/5): Good location. Room very, very small. - Room a little depressed. Nice staff and good location.
- Wayne (4/5): Enjoy extreme noise, no water pressure - come here - We found this hostel between an outside bar and outside music area. They noisily partied all night! There was no water pressure and showers were sometimes cold! Breakfast was from 8:00 AM, yet we often left at 6:00 AM to see the sights! There were only a few plates at breakfast, so one had to be inventive! In one week we had one change of towels and bedding! They never removed the garbage!
- Verified traveler (6/5): A nice place to visit, but.... - My son & I stayed for the 3-day Rosh HaShana/Shabbath holiday weekend. In principle the hostel/B'n'B is a nice place, with friendly staff and fellow travelers. We stayed because of a previous positive experience at the sister facility — the Jerusalem Little Hotel, which is in an adjacent building but shares management and a front desk w/this one. However, our room and beds were more run down, less clean, and the A/C, under staff control, couldn't completely overcome the unseasonably warm and humid weather, even during those hours when they ran it. I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would have been at the height of summer. Also, our room was adjacent to the communal kitchen, and more than once we were awakened by loud conversations. When I politely asked the other guests (and once a staff member,) to speak more softly, they immediately acquiesced, but the need to leave my small and uncomfortable bed to do so was annoying.
The included breakfast was a minimalist set of hard boiled eggs, Israeli chopped salad (cucumber, tomato, and onion,) olives, hummus, Israeli smooth "white" cheese (like American sour cream but not sour,) and a Nutella-like sweet spread, with bread, but the staff made sure to keep refilling and preparing fresh food all morning. For one or two days it would be fair fare, but would get monotonous with time.
The "Lion's Den" lounge was a comfortable place.
The big positive is the location, on Zion Square in the very heart of downtown Jerusalem.
Good luck!
- Naama (10/5): Very central, very inexpensive, just what I wanted - I was in town for a conference and out all day; I needed a place to sleep that was with a private bathroom and air conditioning, and that I could get to easily late in the evening by public transportation and eat pleasantly nearby. This hotel was just right. The room was very small and shabby but comfortable and had everything I needed, and the price was right. The people (staff and guests) were very pleasant and the location was outstanding.
- HFR AND KWF. (10/5): N8ce Hotel in the Old City of Jerusalem - Stayed a week. The hotel offers full service and includes s free breakfast
Not s continental breakfast.
I highly recommend this hotel
- anna (10/5): Nice hotel cloyse rhe old sity - This is the best plase to stay. Near the old sity. Near the mahne yeuda shop. All the big shop is 1 minut from the otel.
- Anderson (6/5): Good for the location. - The location is great, but the communal kitchen is old. Breakfast is poor and there is always a volunteer checking if you are taking more than one egg.
The staff that work there are volunteers that in return for five hours of work a day, stay there for free. They are not friendly at all. If you are willing to overlook it all, the location is great. Walking distance to the old city.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Convenient and friendly accommodation - Excellent location and accessibility. It was not so bad but the property is certainly run down and service areas were in poor state. For decency and hygiene, would be advisable to improve the toilets and kitchen. It would also be better to upgrade the rooms, remove the carpets and repair broken locks.
- Anastasia (2/5): overcharged and angry - Our room had no key, so the door was open all the time and many strangers used our bathroom and we found people in our room. Price in dollars is totally different than in shekels. The difference is 23.10 dollars, so I am overcharged :(
- Teresa (10/5): Excellent place. Great location. Great service. - Artimar from the reception was kind, helpful and very nice. Also thanks to Josue and Mike for making my stay so nice.
- Nirit (6/5): The room was freezing with stinking smell - Nice place. Wonderful staff, great location. But the room was freezing and with stinking smell of sewage. Only late the air condition issue was fixed. They were full so there was no extra room.
- Rui (10/5): Friendly hostel - Great hostel with friendly people. They do a Shabbat meal on friday evening- very cheap for a lot of food, plus a great opportunity to experience traditional shabbat meal with an introduction to many of the customs. The toilet flush of our room was weak but otherwise nice little welcoming hostel!
- Abhishek (4/5): Please avoid if you can! - The hostel is ok for backpackers but for those of us who booked private rooms (which are pretty costly!) as a couple this is not the ideal. Though most reception guys were helpful, one girl called Jessica kept judging us and our situation and kept leaping to conclusions, including calling us stupid! Other than that, the room was very small and cramped, the WiFi did not work, the breakfast was very very basic (read bread and butter). The only good thing was the great location on Zion square.
- Johann Paul (10/5): - Location is perfect for walking to Old City,The Market, etc.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location is great, very close to the old city. Old but clean little hostel, was little expensive compare to other hotels/hostels for same or cheaper price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Solid. - Solid location, Bruno Mars concert outside was a bit loud. But clean room, friendly staff. I would recommend to a friend.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good Hostel, but there's a much better one - The hostel was okay and convienant for a quick night stay for a solo traveler. There's a hostel down the street called Abraham's Hostel which is one of the best in the world ranked by trip advisor. It facilitates a family friendly environment but also a great place to network with other travelers. Services and opportunities through the hostel are amazing. So don't book this hostel! There's a much better one down the street!!
- Shay (6/5): Most centered location possible - best spot in the middle of it all but very noisy from the outside because of it. Still worth it for hard sleepers or late sleepers :)
- Ali (2/5): Terrible - The worst stay in Israel. Lots of fights all night long. People were too noisy. I will not use Expedia to book a hotel again. No shampoo no soap very dirty bathroom and beds. Could not sleep at all after our long trip. The hotel was in a neighborhood that was very loud. The windows will not close. Just terrible experience. I will not go to israel a gain. The worst night my family and I had ever.
- Mila (6/5): It's OK - Great location. Some stuff members are not very competent. Sometime you had to insist on you basic rights, like a clean towel. One of our towel was dirty. I ask my daughter to go to the front desk to exchange. The lady in the front was arguing that it came from the laundry like that, there for it's clean. And she DIDN NOT gave her a clean one. Well, it looks like somebody washed the floor with it and laundry didn't help much. Then I had to go downstairs to talk to her and insist on the clean towel. Eventually we got it.
Other stuff members were very friendly.
We had a family room and it was a good size - 16 square meters. It was clean. The double bad had a good mattress, but single beds had only a memory foam. They were not comfortable. I guess I had fight about that too, but I didn't want too and left it like it is. There is no paper towel or napkins on the kitchen and it is rather warren out.
Other then that it's OK for the Hostel.
