Guest Reviews
- Giancarlo (10/5): - Amazing lodge surrounded by a stunning landscape. Rhino walking activity with TK was excellent and gave us something we will never forget
- Michelea (10/5): - The lodges are beautiful and comfortable and the views are amazing. The staf as well as the food they serve are great. Dont have the cocktails, thier not what you expect and are foul. But beautiful place. Would definitely go again
- Colleen (8/5): - Beautiful setting and wonderful rooms. Lovely friendly staff. Comfy bed and all round great experience!
- Lars-Erik (10/5): - I really recommend this! One of the best I ever have stayed at!
- Sharon (8/5): Comfortable - Amazing area of Zimbabwe. Lodges comfortable, but need updates, bathroom was dated and shower extremely small and narrow, as water is an issue perhaps get rid of the bath and enlarge the shower. Tiles and bathroom floor need a good scrub - we had mould.. beds were comfortable, and it would have been nice to have seating outside our lodge to take in the views. Overall an enjoyable stay and the food was excellent. all cooked on open fires the chef is amazingly talented considering he has to work with the vagaries of a fire and not temp controlled oven/ hob!.the swimming pool could also do with a clean/scrub, the floor was slimy but welcome after a hot afternoon drive and walk. Communal toilets near bar and dining area need to have soap provided. Small details which management need to pick up on. Staff attentive and welcoming. We would still recommend
- Stefanie (10/5): - Late check-in is possible!
- a (10/5): Very good hotel just outside the reserve - Extremely nice hotel with very friendly staff. Good location
- Verified traveler (8/5): Visit to Matopos Hills Lodge - Slightly unsure about visiting Zim - however, what a great country, fantastic people and the guys at the Lodge were nothing short than amazing. The Lodge is set in the hills within the National Park. A stone's through away from Rhode's Grave, and White Rhino. Breath taking scenery!
- Verified traveler (10/5): a beautiful lodge in a simply magnificent location - The Matobo Hills Lodge is a place of absolute serenity and beauty. The lodge is designed to completely blend with the environment in such a way that you do not feel that you are intruding in an area of natural beauty. The staff were helpful and friendly from the start and could not do enough to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We cannot recommend this lodge highly enough.
- Lauren (10/5): Great Lodge - Would recommend this lodge to everyone. We had one night with fantastic service, a great room and dinner under the stars. We did an afternoon safari and walked with Rhinos which was an unbelievable experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Enjoyable stay among granite boulders - We stayed for 3 nights at Matobo Hills Lodge and we had overall a great experience. The location was very good inside Matopos National Park, well marked from the main road and convenient for visiting Rhodes' grave and the caves in the area. The lodge and cabins are spread among granite boulders making for a great first impression. They even have marked 3 hiking trails on their grounds that take you to some nice spots. Slightly less positive was the food - breakfasts were great however dinner was hit and miss with meat being sometimes overcooked and too salty. The room (which had a great view) could also use a bit more cleaning specifically the drapes which were quite dirty. Also the towels had a musty smell.
- annabel (10/5): lap of luxury in heavenly park - this is a unique and wonderfully peaceful place - total luxury and total peace
- Kristin (10/5): Incredible location and scenery in remote Africa - Had a stunning time at this lodge. Great food, wonderful service and simply fabulous location. We really enjoyed exploring the fascination granite landscape with its ancient and beautiful rock paintings, birds and wildlife. The lodge has a delightful pool, like a natural rock pool and the bar and lounge area is fantastic, overlooking the valley.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely stay... a bit of upgrading would help - This was a bit difficult to find as signage to get into the area is a bit poor (however signs to get out were amazing). That said, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were spacious and clean. Meals were good and they even allowed you to have breakfast in bed at no extra cost - in fact they suggested it which I thought was very good. My only complaints were the towels could be replaced and entrance fees could be included given the per night cost... The towels felt a bit overused and not appropriate to give to guests. We paid USD12 per person plus USD10 for the car just to enter in order to get to our hotel. Then at each site within the park you still had to pay fees for that site. At minimum the entrance fee to the park should be included in the hotel cost.
- Merimy (8/5): Lovely bush setting close to Matopos Hills - Very enjoyable, great staff. We were only there overnight as we went to scatter my mother's ashes at worlds view. Could have easily spent 3-4 days there
