- Christine (6/5): - The Studio was very basic, no coffee maker, not even a kettle, there were zero amenities. 2 glasses for 3 people. It was odd.

- joe (8/5): Adjustment - Very friendly and good service. we got a separate apartment (separate from the main building). we had booked a room with 2 twin beds and a queen bed, but got queen bed with sofa bed (that spit and slept 2). this was not adequate for 2 adult kids, so manager gave us the 3rd floor room in the main bldg which was better. however, for 3/4 tall people there was not enough head room. otherwise, all was pleasant. breakfast pretty good. location excellent.

- Anthony (8/5): Spacious - The hotel itself is nice. In a older building but in good condition. We found the staff friendly and willing to offer advice. The downside is there is no dedicated parking. We had to find parking on a near by side street which was not optimal. Also the hotel is not within easy walking distance so an uber will probably be neccessary

- Kemper (10/5): Great location and more! - My room was very clean and comfortable and had everything I needed. I particularly liked the breakfast room and the breakfast they had which was about €10 and very much worth it. The breakfast room is sunny and has a view that is so lovely. The neighborhood is great and very close to the university. I thought the staff was very nice and accommodating. They were good hosts.
- Joseph (8/5): Coimbra - Place was very nice. The only problem is the stairs. There is no elevator. Also it is on a hilly road. That was difficult to walk. We had to take Uber everywhere because of those hilly roads.

La habitación familiar amplia, desafortunadamente se sale mucho el agua de la ducha. Desayuno completo y bueno. Las instalaciones bien conservadas, bonito lugar en lo que anteriormente fue una estación de policía. Estacionamiento fuera en la calle de enfrente de pago y en una calle lateral gratis. Cercano 20 minutos de la zona turística.

- Tabitha (2/5): - I will start by saying we try to avoid chain hotels and stay local. I do not understand the positive reviews for this hotel. This was the worst hotel of the 7 we stayed in during our 2 weeks in Portugal. It was musty, moldy, and dirty. The room smelled of sewage in the middle of the night. There was also black mold in the shower. The common areas also smelled musty. Dehumidifiers would be a great addition. There was also an annual parade for the students that prevented parking and caused most of the local restaurants to be close for the night. The parade never came up during any of our research. However the hotel emailed the morning of our check in suggesting that we wait until after 6 pm to arrive at the hotel because it was not accessible due to road closures and no parking anywhere in the city (it took until 9pm for the parking to clear out) Parking at the hotel was forbidden. The hotel waited until we could no longer cancel to inform us that it would take hours to find parking and we would be trapped in our room for the evening because trying to walk the streets with thousands of drunken students to find an open restaurant after the parking fiasco seemed like more than we wanted. This entire hotel experience felt like a bait and switch. Buyer beware what you see is, in fact, not what you get. Stay in a real hotel

Room size is ok but lacking in a lot of necessities, no luggage rack, no clothes hangers, no Kleenex tissues. Has to climb 5 steps to the bathroom. Mirror in bathroom is at a very awkward position. The price is fair for this basic room
- Agathe (6/5): SAV NUL - Notre séjour s'est super bien passé, la chambre était superbe avec un lit pour bébé mis à notre disposition et un buffet petit déjeuner très copieux. Mais nous avons oublié la boîte à musique de notre bébé que sa grand mère lui a offert. J'ai tenté de joindre l'hôtel par tout les moyens et aucune réponse de leur part. C'est un manque de respect qui me déçoit énormément.

Breakfast was great as well - all in was fantastic value for money. It is just a bit far to hike into the old town but ww had anticipated it would be a very active holiday so didn't ind the walk. Dining is definitely lacking around the area so we would suggest dining in town before getting back to hotel.

La nostra stanza non era molto grande, ma il bagno era ampio e moderno. Ho dato tre stelle perché la pulizia della stanza non era delle migliori e molte cose erano un po’ precarie.

- Riccardo (10/5): - La struttura è una casa antica molto elegante con diverse camere. Si trova a poche centinaia di metri dai parchi e dal centro di Coimbra. Il ragazzo che ci ha accolto è stato davvero gentile e prodigo di consigli! Colazione migliorabile ma comunque buona.
- Giulia (8/5): - La struttura è stata ricavata in uno stabile molto bello che prima era un edificio pubblico, in generale è stato fatto un bellissimo lavoro di conservazione degli elementi originali e l'accostamento con i nuovi mobili è davvero azzeccato. Peccato però per la mancanza di cura dei dettagli, non è il massimo entrare e trovare i tappetti tutti macchiati o avere il rubinetto rotto e il doccino molle. L'edificio comunque è situato a due passi dal centro, in una zona laterale molto silenziona e tranquilla perfetta per riposare bene. La stanza era grande e i letti molto comodi, ma peccato per l'odore di umido e le macchie di infiltrazione in bagno, capisco che la struttura è datata, ma è un problema da risolvere soprattutto per le stanze nel sottoterra. Colazione buona, ma anche qui farei attenzione a qualche dettaglio e pulizia.

Purtroppo il mio giudizio è fortemente condizionato da un terribile odore proveniente dal bagno che mi ha causato una forte nausea durante tutto il soggiorno. Purtroppo capisco possa capitare, però il personale una volta fatto presente il problema ha detto che avrebbe lavorato per risolvere lo spiacevole inconveniente, ma in realtà nessuno si è più fatto vivo sulla questione e il problema si è ripresentato anche la seconda notte. Tra l'altro nel tentativo di chiudere la porta del bagno per isolare l'odore a quella stanza le giunture della porta si sono rotte rendendola pericolante e non è stato fatto nulla nemmeno in merito a ciò. Quindi consiglierei al personale di prendere con maggiore considerazione le segnalazioni dei clienti. Nel dubbio evitate la camera al piano inferiore.

- Sylvia (10/5): Beautiful Boutique Hotel in Magical Sintra - We had a wonderful stay at this lovely boutique hotel. It's beautifully decorated with a unique updated traditional style. The staff went out of their way to answer questions and make sure our stay was comfortable. One point to be aware of is the parking they provide is at a sister property a ways away and can make luggage drop off and pick up a bit complicated. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here (and the amazing breakfast) and wished we could have stayed longer!

- Andreas (10/5): - Ein sehr schönes gemütliches Hotel. Das Haus hat viel Geschichte und ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück war hervorragend. Von hier aus waren es nur ein paar Minuten ins Zentrum.

- DARLENE (10/5): - Super comfortable, clean, roomy and awesome!! Tony greets us and right from the start we immensely enjoyed our stay. Wonderful breakfast to start the day. The staff were all so accommodating.
- DARLENE (10/5): - The Luggage is a heritage building with tons of character. We were escorted in by Tony and quickly checked in and shown our room. It was awesome tons of windows, so clean and spacious BEAUTIFUL!! The staff were great, friendly and helpful. Breakfast great and bountiful. Very close to the university, so lots of young people around the area. restaurants close by or a quick Uber/Bolt away. Saturday night (only night) very loud music from 10-1:30 and we were not a fan of it but kids!!

- Andrée-Ann (10/5): Excellent séjour - Nous avons passé un fantastique séjour en famille dans cet hôtel. Le personnel est vraiment très serviable. La chambre était confortable et le système de chauffage très efficace. Le petit déjeuner était copieux et délicieux (les enfants avaient hâte de descendre pour manger tous les matins).

- Beatriz (8/5): - Casa colonial rehabilitada, preciosa. Desayuno buffet variado. Bien comunicado. Todo bien, aunque la pega que le pongo es la hora de check in es muy tarde, las 3 de la tarde y el baño aunque era privado, estaba fuera de la habitación. Bien en general, lo recomiendo.
- Kattia (2/5): Booking pésimo y The Luggage de lo peor - Muy mal, queríamos un hotel en Oporto y Booking, que me parece de lo peor, nos direccionó a este hotel, pensando que quedaba en Oporto, pagamos y cuando nos dimos cuenta del error pedimos la cancelación de la reserva y nos dijeron que no, no había pasado ni una hora. Cero consideración. No recomiendo The Luggage y mucho menos Booking, de lo peor

- Gail (10/5): - This historic building-turned-inn is terrific. It has been remodeled with all the modern conveniences while maintaining all of its old world charm. Suites are large with immensely high ceilings and huge bathrooms, common seating areas abound, the buffet breakfast is delicious, and it's within walking distance to the historic Coimbra university and botanical gardens. Staff are friendly and accommodating.
- lenore (2/5): Worst night of our vacation. - The apartment was not as described. It had no utensils, no dishes and no cooking equipment. There was no coffee maker or hot water heater. The young woman in charge made an excuse about it and did not offer any retribution. I had to walk out in the rain to the front of the building and ask for a coffee mug so I could heat water in the microwave for my own tea bag. The was no internet either. Also the shades did not work - some were stuck in the down position and others in the up position. The woman told us the people before us must have broken them.

Good location. Very helpful and friendly owners, can definitely recommend. A new and fab concept in boutique hostel ! Breakfast simple and good.
- Madelline (6/5): Lovely building in quiet location - Stayed in a studio room, very spacious with cooking facilities however no utensils, cutlery etc etc. Seems strange to have a hob & microwave but no way to use them
- Janice (10/5): - This was a beautiful old house, well maintained with high ceilings and wood floors. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Very walkable to the university and restaurants. The area was quiet and surrounded with beautiful old houses
- Bettina (6/5): - Das Frühstück ist nicht gut. Das Appartement ist ok, aber völlig lieblos eingerichtet. Die Türen haben nicht geschlossen, weder die Haustür noch die vom Badezimmer. Ein junger Mann an der Rezeption war sehr freundlich und engagiert. Eine junge Frau war super unfreundlich, auch beim Check Out. Für dieses Hotel sind die Bewertungen eindeutig zu gut- vllt war es das ja mal.
- Juan Carlos (8/5): - The room was super nice with a balcony and view big windows!as well .What I was a little disappointed it is not close to the city center ! You have to walk around 10 min to be at city center. Coimbra is a university city ! Enjoyed the vibe !!!

We only use our car to get to our stays then walk or transit. Everything was a short walk away. Love this spot !

Great guest house, very clean shared bathrooms. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a good value and great night’s sleep

Walking distance to the beautiful botanical gardens and university, with plenty of great bars surrounding the Placa de Republica. The free breakfast was incredible!

- Laurie (8/5): Comfortable and convenient - We liked the cosy feeling of The Luggage (even though the name doesn’t convey cosy!). It is reasonably priced although we found out we would have received the 15% winter discount if we had booked with them directly — disappointed this wasn’t passed on by Hotels.com. Our room for 2 nights was a double on the top (2nd floor) with a private bathroom in the hall, meaning a bathroom dedicated to our room with us holding the key. This setup was less convenient than a bathroom in the room but was okay, and there was only one other room on this floor with its own outside bathroom. The hotel / hostel is well located, just at a short walk to Coimbra centre and the Universty. We also appreciated the off-street parking. And finally, the complimentary breakfast is really quite good. The Luggage would definitely be our choice for a return visit to Coimbra.
- Hollie (8/5): Beautiful hostel - Room was really nice and had an amazing view of the city. Bed was really comfy and breakfast was tasty. Staff were friendly and there was a very cute cat. Building was beautiful. Only problem we had was that it says check in is from 10am on hotels.com however check in is not actually till 2pm!

- Matthew (10/5): Excellent Inn - We loved this hotel. We were nervous because we hadn't stayed in a hostel in a long time, but it ended up being one of our favorites in a two week Portugal stay. The architecture is elegant and the design is modern, very tastefully done. The service was fabulous, as was the breakfast. I would highly recommend the Luggage Inn and Hostel.

- Romeo (8/5): Charming - If you’re looking for something different for a change, this place would be a pleasant staff. The staff could not be more pleasant and service oriented. A few reasons for not giving 5 on 5 are lack of shelve in shower to place soap and shampoos. Cleanliness in bedroom could have been slightly better, but no major issues. A bit of a walk to restaurants and shops. Tv channel options were good and wi fi was excellent. No elevator. Overall, a very charming place.

However the contracted room was on the third floor and had an external bathroom so they strongly suggested that we take a second floor room. Since there is no elevator and minimal help getting in and out, we agreed to take the much more comfortable and spacious room. However it did cost 91 Euros instead of the 49 we expected. We found it difficult to get around from this residential location, but taxes are inexpensive and available. Buffet breakfast was excellent and again the staff was very pleasant and helpful.

- Jill (10/5): Great Stay in a beautiful hostel. - My stay at the Luggage Hotel was great. It's a beautiful house near restaurants, the university and town. I stayed for three nights and was most impressed by the professionalism of the staff, cleanliness of the hostel and its location.. The beds were very comfotable and the lockers were spacious. and the breakfast was very good wilt lots of choices. I was given a good map on arrival and the staff made recommendations of places to visit and things to do. I attended the Fado concert and it was wonderful!

- Cindy (10/5): Amazing historical home - What a beautiful, historical home. Did NOT feel like a hostel. So peaceful, a 20 minute walk to the center of town but that was what made it so lovely. It was up in the hill and overlooked the city. The staff was warm and inviting . The decor made it feel like I was living near in the 40s. Breakfast was wonderful. Just tremendous.. Best stay in Portugal yet!!!
