Saubere Zimmer, ruhige Lage.
- Dr. Rupert (9/5): -
- Sara (10/5): Highly Recommended: Clean, Friendly, and Super Convenient - Great hotel conveniently located near the airport. The staff are very friendly, and the complimentary airport shuttle is a big plus. Continental breakfast is provided, Wi-Fi works well in all rooms, and everything was clean and well maintained. A nice bonus was the large mosquito net. Highly recommend!
- Paul (8/5): Very good guesthouse to stay and to enjoy the food. A bit out off Entebbe town. - Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice compound and good food. Nothing in particular
- Róbert (9/5): -
- Christine (7/5): Bon petit déjeuné - Exotique Emplacement
- Deborah (10/5): Great retreat with a lovely African vibe! - The property was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The food was delicious. The staff treated us like VIP especially Charity! The driver, Ben, was always available with a ride and a smile. I would highly recommend African Roots!
- Jean Michel (8/5): -
- Faridah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raadiya (6/5): Great for a quick overnight transit to Kampala - Lots of potential but needs some work There was a random hole in the wall in my bedroom. Generally poor workmanship in the bathrooms. The Gulu property is much better
- Nancy (10/5): Wonderful stay! - What a wonderful stay at the African Roots Guesthouse!
We arrived after midnight into Entebbe and they were right there to pick us up at the airport. We found it a wonderful peaceful place to spend and extra night after a very long flight. Charity was so warm and welcoming!
Breakfast and dinner were amazing! Rooms were delightful and very clean. They even drove us into Entebbe town for a bit of shopping and lunch. Please stay if you arrive in Entebbe late and looking for a nice respite before beginning your Uganda safari.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely staff and setting! - The place felt very safe and in a nice setting with plenty of green outside space. Rooms were very clean and spacious with nice private front terraces. The staff were really friendly and helpful, especially the onwer, Agnes, who arranged sightseeing trips in the area, airport transfer (15 mins) and other transport for us. There is a nice bar area where they serve great breakfast and drinks. They even stocked up on our favourite drinks on request.
The only drawback for us was the location. It's very isolated on a residential dirt road so to get to Victoria Lake, supermarkets or restaurants you rely on costly guesthouse transport or UBER (wifi in Uganda is very flaky due to power cuts). Agnes did arrange takeaway from a nearby restaurant one evening so that's an option otherwise.
- Verified traveler (10/5): An exceptionally positive experience - This was an exceptionally positive experience for us in so many ways. We were warmly welcomed, had delicious breakfasts, and treated like old friends in this wonderful guesthouse. We truly appreciated how kind, friendly, and helpful everyone was at the guesthouse as this was our first visit to Uganda. We will definitely return to this guesthouse and recommend it to others who are visiting Uganda.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Outstanding place and excellent value too - An outstanding and comfortable place to stay if you are visiting Entebbe, Uganda. Excellent value too.
Highly recommend it!
- Marina (8/5): Attractive hotel with congenial staff. - Manager Stella and staff very helpful with special requests. Good rooms and general facilities. Excellent breakfasts.
- Nina (8/5): good for overnight befor flight - Very nice place and friendly stuff. Unfortunatelly very loud music during the night from the neighbourhood. Close to the airport with offered transport for 10 USD.
- toni (10/5): Clean hotel, great staff, close to town and beach. - This is a guesthouse so it isn't fancy but the rooms are big and clean. There is hot water too. Breakfast is good. The staff is very helpful and polite. I felt very safe at African Roots.
- Andrew (10/5): Clean hotel and great for our short stay - Only had about 8 hours at the hotel before my flight but everything worked just as needed. Good shuttle service, good couple hours of sleep, and a couple of restaurants within walking distance.
- Rev Bill (6/5): We had paid for two rooms, tried to give us one. - After we got our two rooms things were OK, but not good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very pleasant overnight stay - I had to spend a night in transit in Entebbe and had a very good experience in the African Roots Guesthouse, Pick-up at airport was well done. Staff was very friendly and the place is just lovely.
- Paul (10/5): Great Hotel, Friendly and excellent location - We had a wonderful stay at the African Roots hotel. The staff were excellent and friendly and informative. They helped us with a dinner (of great local cuisine!!) and let us know of places to see and things to do in the town of Entebbe! I would stay there anytime and recommend this location to anyone!
- Debra M (8/5): Short stay - African Roots Guesthouse is a quaint house. It's old, but it was fine for our needs. The staff was wonderful and did everything they could to accommodate our needs. The area was nice as it was close to the beach and a great pizza place on the water. It's not an area to walk around alone in or at night, but it was fine for two women strolling in the daytime.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean and very. Very friendly and convenien for the air port. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Ypperlig overnattingssted ift pris.
- Socam (10/5): An airy, friendly guesthouse near Lake Victoria - Excellent guesthouse, efficiently run by the extremely jolly Anna and Stella in a blue-and-white former private house in a quiet, upmarket neighbourhood near Lake Victoria. There are verandas on both floors and an outdoor area where I cleaned my hiking boots and left stuff to dry. Our first room had three single beds and was OK but a little cramped and stuffy for the person in the end bed. The upstairs rooms are great; large, light and No 5 has a large, sunny balcony. Definitely recommend it.
- peter (4/5): Make sure that you are given what you book. - On arrival I was given a very different room to the one booked, however I was charged the same rate and when I challenged the manager was informed that they had made the decision to help me!! The picture on hotel.com of the outside of the property is no longer how it looks, additional building works have taken away a lot of the original charm. I was genuinely disappointed .
- Amir (6/5): Quiet n Small in Entebbe close to Victoria Mall - Easy Access to the Lake and Victoria mall, quiet small place shy of 10 rooms, but friendly with Van transport service
- Jo (10/5): nicer than a hotel - Have stayed here a few times now and still love it. The rooms are comfortable, very clean and with comfy beds and hot water, the food is delicious and the staff really friendly. A nice alternative to a hotel to unwind in before going back home.
- SHEILA (8/5): - Lovely to be collected and welcomed late at night, with good breakfast before my travel on to Kampala the next morning. Everyone is friendly and wanted to make sure I was comfortable. Will definitely stay again.
- anne (10/5): Great position for the airport close to the beach - Staff very helpful and friendly. Also dropped us off and collected us...nothing any trouble Strongly recommend
- Trio (8/5): Two faces - Wir waren zweimal dort.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very personal - Excellent for short stay. Airport pick up and drop off was excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good rooms, great breakfast! - We stayed one night in order to take a flight out the next day. Note that this is a guest house, not a hotel. The rooms were very comfortable (with ensuite bathrooms) and exceptionally clean, and Anna was so welcoming, even offered to accompany us if we wanted to walk to/from any of the nearby restaurants after dark. Definitely have the pineapple pancakes for breakfast; they are fabulous!
They can arrange visits to Ngamba Chimpanzee Island, which is a forested island in Lake Victoria (about an hour by boat) where the people are on a small tip and the rest is given over to chimps rescued from illegal trafficking. Really beautiful. (We stayed at African Roots after our Ngamba Island visit.)
It must be well sound-proofed. We saw a number of people come in while we were downstairs in the dining room, but never heard a peep all night.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Saubere Zimmer, freundliches Personal, schöne Deko und 5 Min. Fußweg zum Viktoriasee. Wären gerne länger geblieben!
- John (10/5): - Wonderful. Helpful. After I booked they contacted me to see if I needed a ride from the airport(which I did).
JUST what I needed.
- Ron (10/5): - The owner was so super helpful and nice. She took us up to the market, gave us directions for a great dinner and was just really nice to talk to. I would definitely stay here again if we came to town!
- Dot (10/5): Greatest Guest House in Entebbe - I had two nights at African Roots Hotel. The first one was unplanned.I had been let down for an airport pick up by my planned accommodation providers. I rang African Roots at 4 a.m. and I was picked up almost immediately and taken there to a warm welcome, an air-conditioned room, and freshly laundered linen on my bed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - On route to the airport, found the drinks overpriced by 3X. Walked to shops to buy. Staff helpful.
- John (10/5): Fantastic hotel - I've stayed in a bunch of budget hotels and guest houses in Uganda, but this was by far the best. Really clean and well run, friendly staff and proper breakfast! Great for the airport too. The owner said she was trying to create a balance between an African and European experience, and it works really well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great olace - Lovely hostesses. Nice stay close to the lake. Great service. Comfortable beds.
- Mike (10/5): Two owner/proprietress' run a tight ship - Dependable, friendly service. And Room 5 is spacious, with a huge balcony that is so pleasant to sit and pass the morning or afternoon. A great place to decompress after a long flight, and a dependable pick up service that they confirm via email before you land.
- Donna (8/5): Home away from home - The staff at African roots really make you feel like family. This was my second stay there and I hope to return someday.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Had a great stay and was even given a free upgrade! The staff looked in to some activities and pricing for me and got me oriented. In a great location really close to restaurants on the lake and easy walking distance to the Botanical Gardens. Definitely would recommend!
- Paul (8/5): Value for money and quality - This was probably one of our best in Uganda. Decent value, good service, good location. Well recommended.
- vanessa (8/5): Comforts of Entebbe - This was a great start to our time in Uganda. As this was my fourth time to Uganda, I can say this was the most comfortable and pleasant beginning. The rooms were clean, above basic, and the staff more than willing to please.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best Place to Stay in Entebbe! - Such a wonderful stay at African Roots Guesthouse again! The rooms are so clean and the beds are very comfortable. The wifi is very fast - good enough for a business trip. The staff are extremely friendly. The breakfast is great as well!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and wonderful welcome - Very helpful and attentive staff, decor needs some attention to be more like home. A small table in the bathroom, hooks on the bathroom door. The internet went down and Anna spent a lot of time to find an alternate provider - most impressive. Will surely stay there again when in Entebbe!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Prima guesthouse - Lady had to wait quite long at airport but was still very friendly, very welcoming
- Max (10/5): Wonderful stay in lovely hotel - Absolutely wonderful stay at African Roots Guesthouse! All the staff here are so nice and friendly. They go above and beyond to try to make your comfortable and welcome. They do their best to help you get what you need as well. The complementary breakfast they provide is wonderful. The location is great as well, within walking distance of the big shopping mall in town and to the lake.
No need to look any further! This is the place to stay in Entebbe!
- Lisa (10/5): Staff were so welcoming and helpful - Thank you so much to the ladies at African roots guesthouse, you were all so welcoming and helpful. We had beautiful food there as well. I would definitely stay there again.
- william (6/5): Welcoming - It was a welcoming place to stay after a long flight.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not as good as the ratings - I had high expectations based on everything I read in other reviews but was disappointed by the facilities. The people there were great and helpful, but our first room we were given we could not breath because of the bug spray they used. We started coughing as soon as we came in the room. The lady working also came in to check our shower which did not have hot water and would not drain and she also started to cough. We were moved to another room in the main building that ok. The shower was shared on that part of the building but at least there was hot water. Overall employees were nice, breakfast was good, just the facilities were not what I expected.
- Douglas (10/5): Excellent! - A delightful experience. I would happily stay here again. I highly recommend it. The proprietor and staff were most friendly and helpful.
- Emily (8/5): Quiet place to rest with friendly staff - I stayed one night in this guest house as a base camp for exploring Entebbe. I had a little trouble finding it, but the staff went so far as to come collect me from a major landmark when my driver couldn't find the place. That's pretty excellent service! The house was clean and quiet, with a nice garden and sitting area. It's an easy walk to the beach and very near to the Botanical Gardens and some good restaurants. The one downside was that the food was a bit expensive- $9 for a cheese sandwich with fruit and water! But the complimentary breakfast was delicious and very filling. It's not a destination in and of itself, but it's a great place to rest while you explore the area.
- Carole (10/5): Enchantée - Juste extraordinaire . Adresse incontournable
- Jeremy (10/5): Good value. - We stayed in the XL double room and found it excellent. Nice breakfast and friendly staff.
